Went for afternoon tea...5 stars is not enough to describe the experience! Food was absolutely delicious, paired so well with our tea recommended by tea sommeliers Craig and Daryl. Speaking of tea, it was the best tea we experienced for afternoon tea since it is Nigiro Tea after all. Service was impeccable from the food and beverage team, great atmosphere and lovely smiles all around made it even more joyful. Thank you Mount Nelson Hotel for being so dear to us. Take care til next time ๏ผš)

I was completely blown away by the level of service provided to us by Emma, she was so tentative, kind and every interaction with her was just lovely! The vegan options were OUTSTANDING! - as were the normal menu options and all of our guests were smiling from ear to ear through the entire afternoon. The little takeaway treats were such a beautiful way to finish off the day and a way to keep the celebrations going even after the event! Thank you SO much once again!

Absolutely lovely experience - will definitely do this again! Can't go wrong with the Mount Nelson's high tea - amazing during any weather. We had a choice between 40 unique teas with 3 courses dainty bites. Thank you to our server, Mr Wiseman, for such a lovely experience!

What an amazing experience having Afternoon Tea at the Mount Nelson yesterday afternoon. From the beautiful pink building on the outside and colonial style inside to our attentive waitress, Tembisa. There were small low tables for our handbags to sit on and when we asked for a higher table for our Surprise Baby Shower sign, it was brought without a second of a doubt. When one of our party members asked if there was perhaps a spare chicken salad rice wrap, a whole tier of extra savouries where brought. Another member asked for a red cappuccino, which is not on the menu, and our waitress said she will make a plan and a few minutes later the most delicious red cappuccino arrived. The hostess even brought our expecting mom-to-be something sweet to take home, in addition to everyone receiving a mini box packed with delicious sweet treats to take home. Thank you to the Mount Nelson staff who were attentive and made us feel special and welcome!

Delightful afternoon tea with a lovely range of teas to match each course. Service was really good even though it was quite busy. The range of foods were excellent with a pink theme, same as the hotel colours, with added a nice theme. We left feeling happy and very full! Don't have too large a breakfast before going! Fantastic experience.

This was the first time I went to Mount Nelson, and that too for my first high-tea experience. It was certainly a wonderful and memorable afternoon with my friend. She booked a table by the window to look over the beautiful garden. We were welcomed with a glass of ice tea. There are so many different tea options to choose from. One needs to come empty stomach to enjoy all the beautiful delicacies served. It is so filling and tasty. Before we left, each of us received a small box of delicious desserts. That was honestly a very sweet gift. We were extremely impressed by the staff for their professionalism and amazing service. The place was pretty filled, but still, they served everyone wonderfully. It was a beautiful experience, and I am certainly coming back again with my mom.

When I booked for the high tea at the Mount Nelson for my mother and me,I really hoped to spend some memorable special time with her, while enjoying delicious savoury treats and mouth watering desserts in a tranquil, peaceful and grand environment. Quite a tall order. My mother has alzheimers and tends to feel anxious and afraid very quickly. But high tea at the Mount Nelson has been on her bucket list so I was determined to give it a try. Well the Mount Nelson together with Craig, our amazingly knowledgeable and friendly server, made our experience out of this world. Not only was the food delectable and the tea soft and soothing, the atmosphere and attention to detail at the Mount Nelson was impeccable. Thank you for making it possible for me to share a wonderful experience with my mother. She enjoyed every minute of it. Mount Nelson is definitely the best place for High Tea in Cape Town.

No review I write could ever describe what an excellent experience this was. The attention to detail, the mind blowing catering and the insane list of teas available all really left us speechless. This is definitely an afternoon tea of a world-class standard. All dietary considerations are catered for which makes this a very inclusive experience. All courses served were amazing and the knowledge we learned about the teas was highly informative. Our welcome drinks and the โ€˜sweetestโ€™ thank you gifts upon departure was a very thoughtful touch! It was out first visit but Craig made us feel like true regulars. He was absolutely kind, courteous and extremely hospitable, much of the positive experience we had was due to his fine service! We bumped into Courage along the way who was kind enough to snap a few (amazing) pictures of us as we explored the grounds a bit. Everyone greeted us with a smile and truly made us feel so special! I without a doubt recommend the experience and we will definitely be back again!

The mount Nelson high tea is certainly the most famous of venues for high tea...there is about 46 different teas to choose from but there are also other alternatives like hit chocolate etc...it's a 3 course finger type meal with personalized trays depending on your eating requirements...the 1st tray was savouries which was ok...I would not rate it 5 Star as there are better savourys at other restaurants...next was the scones which were good but again they are normal scones...the 3rd tray was the sweets which certainly was quite good...lastly there was the 4 cakes to choose from the main table...I do remember years ago this table was much larger but it's been reduced...the venue is stunning & in the best colonial style...

JUST BOOK FOR THE SCONES. Lovely tea setting with good service. Theres a good array of teas on offer. The best part of the high tea were the scones as the savoury foods, sandwiches and desserts are not the best although the desserts look nice. My opinion is the savouries and desserts can be far better, perhaps even themed or cape curated with local flavours considering this is a more pricier high tea. I will be exploring other high teas next time.

An afternoon well-spent - the best vegan high tea in Cape Town by a country mile. Top-notch service (thank you, Leisha, for looking after us so well) and the perfect ambience for a slow Saturday afternoon.

My husband and I had high tea here on our last day in Cape Town. Truly a wonderful last impression of this fantastic city. Mount Nelson hotel is a beautiful hotel and everyone made us feel very welcome. We were given refreshing wet towels before we were seated. Our server William was friendly and very attentive and everything we had was delicious during the three courses. They have the most extensive tea menu Iโ€™ve ever seen. Delicious iced tea also was offered and was so refreshing on a hot day. We received a nice parting gift of sweets. Highly recommend coming here to experience high tea!!

A wonderful and historic afternoon tea at the grand old lady of Cape Town! Make sure you book in advance and ask to sit outside!

โ€˜Tea at the Nellieโ€™ is an unforgettable experience. The surroundings add to the opulence of the finger food served. We tried over 10 types of delicious teas. The live piano music was a beautiful touch. The waitress was excellent.

We recently went for high tea at the Mount Nelson and what an amazing experience it was! The pastries and finger foods were divine and our host Craig was friendly, attentive and very helpful in recommending teas to suit our preferences. He even promised to brew a cup of special green tea for me when he heard I wasn't a big fan and promised I would love it...and voila, I did! We had such a lovely afternoon, we will definitely be back soon!

Fantastic experience. Had High Tea and it was an amazing time. Beautiful hotel, fresh, crisp table linens, amazing assortment of savoury and sweet treats. Complementary bubbles or ice tea on being seated. Large menu of different teas to be had or coffee. Well trained, friendly and attentive staff. Beautiful gardens to stroll around in. Plenty of free, secure parking.

On Saturday, 25 June 2022 a friend and I enjoyed the high tea experience in honour of both of our birthdays. The experience was the epitome of class and exceptional customer service. From the security who greets you at the entrance as you drive in to the hostesses and waitrons, we felt so well taken care of. I would definitely recommend it in fact, if you are reading this YOU MUST GO THERE!!!!!! You will NOT be disappointed.
