What a beautiful place! Definitely make a stop and check out all the different types of crystals! Very well displayed and super interactive for the kids too! Definitely worth it!

It's a fun place that is accessible to many people in the V&A Waterfront. It's somewhat hidden away, but well worth finding it. You pay a nominal amount for a bag which allows you to spend a much time as you like to collect gems. It's basically an honour system as no one checks on how much you're actually taking. There were a couple of parents who exercised very little discipline on their children - who were throwing the stones and making it unpleasant for others. It's not particularly accessible to wheelchair users as I only saw steps. There's also a little shop to buy manufactured gems - at tourist prices

Take your kids here. . . And your wife if she is a crafter.

This little venue is listed as a must see in Cape Town. Bit of a dingy old feeling to the place to be honest. I was unpleasantly surprised by the dark dankness of the place. I was expecting a lot more stones. Basically looks like someone bought loads of bags of semi precious stones and then emptied them out onto the floor (which is old felt). Small children may enjoy this but skip for adults and older kids for sure.

Ideal place for young curious minds to explore polished stones and gems. Not to mention the attention grabbing jewels inside the store. This is a top rated curio shop. Zipper bags range from R25 to R130, a tad pricey for the volume of stones, but you don’t buy the stones, you buy the experience, that makes it worthwhile! Cave golfing also available… no rating sorry, haven’t played.

A great place for adults and children. Whether you are spending time at the scratch patch or looking at all the beautiful creations on offer in the gift shop. Anything from beautiful jewelry to trinkets and more. Everything is beautifully displayed. There is also cave golf for another fun activity. Everything is situated upstairs at the parkade opposite the aquarium.

One of my favourite places to relax at. The gemstones are so beautiful, and the space just feels so serene.

I wish it was better lit and better air conditioned, also I wish they had some snacks available for purchase, the game was quite long and snacks would've been appreciated. The course itself was such fun though and we had a great time

Nice indoor "cave" putting course. Nice shop with all kinds of related items.

Great fun for kids. However they can be a little over eager and within a short time fill their bags when the better option is to really take your time coming and comparing similar gen stones and picking ones with the shape that you prefer. Tip near the bottom there are smaller gem stones. Picking smaller rather than larger stones allows you to collect up to 5 times more stones. When used for display and ornament purposes at home it really does not make any difference if all your stones are small or big.

Enjoyable game of putt putt with some challenging holes. Fun activity for the whole family

Very dark inside the cave golf and there is no space between the different golf holes. Space limited.

Lekker place for them Stones / Gems collectors. My little one had fun in the area for picking your own stones . Also lots of other fancy jewelry available.

Another fun activity day. Grab and cup and get stuck in searching for your favourite gems. Not extremely busy so you don't have to worry about big crowds, because the place is fairly small. There is a shop, where you can buy some jewelry and other stuff. Theres also cave golfing as well. Awesome fun day out.

This is a fun family stop in the waterfront area. The kids will enjoy searching through the stones for treasures, and the bags for the rocks are reasonably priced. As a mineral collector, I enjoyed the assortment of raw mineral specimens alongside the many polished items and jewelry that is also available. Most sales of the raw minerals are by weight, so expect your selections to be weighed and priced at the counter.

One of my favourite weekend activities by far! I love visiting the giant scratch patch so much that I even pop in during the week if I have an hour of free time after work, even though my gemstone collection is getting a little bit out of hand 😅 this is the perfect place to find a gift for any kind of of occasion and any kind of person, without a doubt.

Kids had fun although I don't know what we are now going to do with the stones they collected. Also played miniature golf which was a bit of an underwhelming course.

One of the highlights of our trip to Cape Town and one that was recommended to us. We loved it here and could have spent hours digging through the stones. We each took a bag of stones we'd picked and can't wait to display them at home.

Its the 2nd time I've taken my granddaughter, Hannah, to Scratch Patch. She absolutely loves her 'stones'. Picking the colours and now at 2 yrs old even starting to learn some names. We'll be back!!

Very therapeutic and relaxing. The kids enjoyed scratching through all the different coloured stones. I think the area could have been a bit more warm and a little bigger. Perhaps different patches. Could easily get overcrowded, especially around achool holidays and weekends. Hence, a bigger space would be great. My kids suggested they make it look more like a cave/mine rather than just the mural and a few rock pieces. Only 3 benches for parents to sit. Spent about an hour, and I would've probably stayed longer if there was a cafe ir if it was bigger.
