The gym is good. A mini version of the Claremont Virgin Active. Equipment is not the same. The customer service is not as friendly as the Claremont branch. I tried to explain that it was my first time visiting the gym but the agent at the front desk cared less if I knew the gym or not. So I showed myself around. I had to ask one of the customers to show me how to work the thread mill. Turns out it has latency and does not respond quick to touch. I didn’t see trainers on the ground. This was my first visit and I’m hoping things will change. At least the customer service should be the same throughout the branches. We can’t get world class service when we go to suburbs (rolling eyes).

The gym itself is good and has great facilities. Classes are wonderful and so are the trainers. But a fair warning, the sales consultants are incredibly elusive and the customer service is terrible. The price (for a contract) can go up at any time (something that they don't tell you upfront). You can't pay in cash if you want to because the system is always "offline". The app hardly ever works or tracks your visits. You'll wait at least 30 minutes to speak with someone on the customer service line and they'll just refer you from one place to another until you give up or give in. When trying to cancel the contract (with the knowledge that you have to pay 4 months worth of premiums to cancel) you have to call them. But guess what... THEY DON'T ANSWER. "They'll call you back soon" No. They'll call you back in a week. And even then. It'll be a different person so you will have to repeat your complaint and start the process from the very beginning. You're better off just joining Zone Fitness or a local gym. Save yourself the time and money. Its not cheap. It's not worth it either.

With high hopes going to virgin active. I signed up received my email confirming that I am member coming there to say my membership is not active and the reps and the branch works differently. I understand to certain extend however the person working at Virgin Active was cc in the mail with the arrival the consultant highly understood where we coming from but could not assure us a bag .I understand a bag might sound as if it is the lowest form of reward or the reason I signed up however in my experience anything in todays life worthy of something brings joy . I got no assurity or even a leap of faith to say lady the minute ur activation appear on our system I will put your bag aside I had to be content with the fact that this is how things work . I’m my experience any representative of a certain company or services should have the assurity of the customer and yes their customers service suck. And if it is one place to bring relaxation to a person and they can’t give us that why should I attend their facility.

I must see to my health and fitness. nice friendly gym. the guys are friendly and helpful. they see to whatever you need to have a good workout session. the aqua-robics is the place for me.

This branch at virgin active is very average. Not going to lie there equipment is bad I wish I never moved from zone fitness. Zones have better equipment only good thing is that they have a pool and steam room. They have the same equipment for years now and never changed it. The weights are also the same they just refurbish it. This gym needs better equipment and weights.

Virgin Active Westgate Mall offers immaculate service and efficiency. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The place is extremely clean and equipment is up to very good standard compare to other gyms. Thank you to Micheal who definitely holds up the name and brand of Virgin Active.

Weights maybe need a upgrade but functional equipment is well stocked. Staff as per always are great.

The equipment is out dated and always put of service. The air-condition is never working properly. The roof is leaking for years now. If I could train somewhere else I would.

Need serious upgrade. Price difference to other branches not far off; yet the experience totally different. As a premium member; I frequent 4 different virgm active brances; however this branches bit disappointing. Equipment although In working condition, needs serious upgrade; outdated if I should compare. Leak from ceiling in Winter, I noticed at for at least 3 weeks. Got sms saying that its being repaired; but haven't been back since. Just feels that that is acceptable for the community that it's located in. Not cool

Staff is friendly, gym members are kind and inclusive. Vibes are vibing. Old school cast iron plates which are amazing. Nice weight section, good lucking finding 2 of the same dumbbells though.

I love that all the machines and weights are on one floor. I love the older machines as they are more focused on muscle worked. This gym has some rare, amazing machines that you won't find at most VAs. Showers are clean and tidy. Staff are few but helpful. Just needs a height adjustable cable machine, dumbbells need some serious upgrades and labelling, and water units leak or don't work.

The gym is nice ....but the toilets are SUPER CLEAN! Wow! Thank you to all the staff for a wonderful experience.

As far as gyms go ,this club has everything I need. Spin classes, a large pool and a steam room that is operational again. There always seems to be enough space to do what I need to do without any issues.

Well everybody knows that its the vibe at this gym that beats them all. Equipment is due for an upgrade but all in working order tho. Friendly staff and each person is more than willing to help the next.

The front reception lady that worked Wednesday and Thursday evening. Always have a smile and stand with a mission to help. Always say goodbye with a beautiful smile. I don't have her name but she is the Muslim lady.

Good points: - Rare weight lifting equipment - Big weight section (Could be expanded considering the cardio section is barely used.) - Spacious Bad points: - Equipment are old and not oiled well. - The dumbbells are in dire need of replacing. They are essentially falling apart. - The gym is very untidy with weights lying all over the place with you often not being able to find some dumbells or plates. This could be due to members but staff needs to reinforce good behavior. - Dumbells etc are dirty and leave your hands black. (I usually wouldn't mind but it just means its not being cleaned which is risky with COVID)

It’s ok I guess. Wish they had more dumbbell weight variety. Like there’s a singular 13kg dumbbell. Also, after 18kg the next weight they have is 22kg. Equipment is pretty old. Always something that’s broken. Treadmills have dents in the track (best way I can describe it). Essentially, the tracks are uneven on most of them. I don’t think it’s dangerous, just annoying. Gym is reasonably big and has a decent variety of machines. Gym seems to get very full in the evening. I usually go in the morning but I’ve been in the evening a few times and it gets pretty packed. I actually just left once because it was just too full to do anything All in all, pretty average. I don’t hate it, but don’t love it either

Stunning, stunning, stunning. This is where everyone in Mitchell's Plain should be. Parking is safe at all times as well as the play area for the kids while parents gym and the staff are amazing. We'll done Virgin Active and soon there will be a Spar right next door😜❤️

I like the treadmills. The machines are very close together. Maybe they could make that space in the middle smaller. Maybe they could use the downstairs section better. Overall ok experience.

Loadshedding has allowed one to frequent different virgin active gyms allowing one to see how Mitchells Plain branch rates in terms of service, friendliness and equipment and i can really say its below oar on every scale, equipment is either in need of repair completely outdated and never available, cleaners start switching machines way before closing time, no kiddies pool section, staff not as friendly, showers outdated, lockers outdated, its seems this gym gets all the other gyms equipment when they upgrade

The equipment is a hundred years old and there's no one looking to improve the quality. VA has the numbers but they not interested in the members or improving their standards. It's pretty sad.

More than enough equipment. I enjoy indoor cycling so there are more than enough bikes for me. Love it!! Downside : sometimes uncoordinated cleaning of the floors during busy times

Clean and accommodating to our little one that wants to join for a swim. Upstairs studio cooling needs some addressing.

It's a place not just workout but to also focus on your physic and also focus on improving yourself they have a upstairs gym,food store,kids playground,and a heated pool and more

There's nothing bad to say about this gym. Good equipment for anybody. The pool is excellent as well. Can't really find anything to complain about. Really, it's what you'd expect from a gym

The gym and it's facilities are amazing. Only reason. Why 3 stars is for the people at the Kuai they are so moody and is never friendly. They also take forever to make ur order. If you claim ur gaming rewards they take even longer. I left a few times contemplating to order due to them being annoyed and clearly showing it.

Fun and friendly staff what a pleasure being part of this facility - world class? That is questionable however I would not recommend signing a 2 year contract, reason being that during the week the gym is overcrowded therefore you are limited to what you equipment you can use if you able to wiggle your way through the walk ways that's stuffed with members working out and eventually you get to the machine/equipment that is either not working or not working properly. Well if you can deal with that then ok this gym is perfect for you, besides juggling your way through the gym when you get to the steam room it's always filled up with overgrown options and some interesting topics not fit for children's ears. That is if your ok with the occasional member taking changing rooms selfies with you in the background even though the small sign on entry indicates no photos nonetheless the facilities are well kept clean thanks to the cleaners for their hard work and persistence. I would suggest rather taking a month 2 month contract or a off peak contract as this might allow you to actually use the facilities.

It's just ok... Equipment and showers needs an upgrade.. The treadmills don't have the training programs and exercises of the more modern treadmills..I didn't enjoy the steam room.. wasn't hot enough and was quite full and noisy

This has in a way become my second home. VA in general is a great gym. Each VA gym has its own layout and variety of classes. The staff in general are always great and friendly. The greet you when you arrive and when you leave. The facilities are always kept clean and tidy and professional. The security measure VA Westgate regarding scanning your card when driving out makes one feel that your car is safe while gyming. The overall gym experis always great.

Poor maintenance and poor management.. This is the second time the steamroom is not working. I sat 1hr waiting on a steamroom, this is very disturbing and disappointing actually..

The floor attendees or gym staff are clueless about high intensity exercise as they require you to wear your mask while they literally see you struggling breathing for air. #Clueless #Misinformed They want you to wear your mask even if you're 2m apart from another individual. The issue needs to be addressed.
