This is a lovely place to spend some time in Nature. Well mia trained bird hides which is a easy walk for everyone to enjoy. Dont forget to stop at the small museum. Thank you to the staff for maintaining the reserve for the public to enjoy.

A real hidden gem for bird watchers and nature enthusiasts alike. Tranquil and calm, with safe parking, Rondevlei is a great place to have a socially distant chat while walking from hide to hide. It's free entry and not very big, but a fantastic spot for a check on which birds are in season. If you bring little ones, a checklist is handy, as is a picnic.

A little gem nestled in amongst busy suburbia. A selection of hides to view birds from, and two observation towers. Very well maintained, with even some lovely picnic options! Didn't see the Hippo, but will have to return another time.

Absolutely lovely wetlands nature reserve. Drive through a regular suburban neighborhood and park up at their secure car park. A meander through the wetlands with lots of bird hides and some towers to climb to see the whole reserve. We didn’t see a hippo but people had spotted one just the day before, we birds, small mammals and the sweetest tortoise. The whole experience was so charming and lovely staff at the entrance are full of information and chats.

A stunning nature reserve right in the middle of suburbia with views of the mountains. We went here for an early morning birdwatching trip with the Cape Bird Club and saw a wonderful variety of birds. The bird hides could use a little TLC. Pathways are well-maintained. My biggest gripe is that, apparently, this reserve isn't open on weekends!

What a wonderful place to observe birds and other animals in their natural environment. There are bird hides and towers that give you a view over the whole park. The paths are ideal for walkers and wheelchair users and there are adequate bathrooms. However, there is a period of environmental cleanup which means there's not much to see at the moment, and given the Covid-19 pandemic, no event hosting is currently allowed. The aquarium is also closed, which is a pity. The potential is there, and as soon as it's back up to speed, it is truly a great little venue.

Calm, free feeling. Lovely to walk and look at all the birds and hippos if you're lucky. Some Eland that we were privileged to meet and speak to their custodians. Also a rescued porcupine that was very incredible to see.

Perfect spot for beginner ornithologists. And of course to see Hippos at close range.

Beautiful place with short walking trails to watch birds. Clean picnic area with clean toilets. Visited during dry season so didn't see any hippos. There is also a very small museum. Entrance is free. Was super quiet only spotted a handful of people.

What an amazing place. Will be back for sure. But only when the weather is great as not many places to find shelter if it rains.

Love the lookout points. So quite and serene, just hear the sound of birds. Entry was free.

Great reserve to visit. Kids love to see the bird life especially the flamingos and pelicans. Good outing for the whole family. Has braaispots but didnt venture to use that section of the area as yet.

Lovely morning, peaceful watching the birds. Indigenous plants all in bloom. The area is well looked after and the guy on duty was pleasant, helpful and quite knowledgeable

I was expecting to see hippopotamus, sadly I only saw birds and not hippopotamus. Free entrance loving it

It's always a pleasure going here but never get to see Hippos. I'm starting to doubt there are any even though the sign says there are. Do not walk alone, safety in numbers. It's free, so no paying or booking in advance. Enjoy the diverse range of birds, insects, and plants. Bird hideout for birdwatching, with benches for resting. Bring the kids to walk along the meandering path all the way to the last hideout.

Really nice place. The water is very low right now so there were not that many birds in the afternoon, I'm sure mornings are more vivid. It is too shallow for the hippos but you can certainly see their footprints among others in the mud. The viewing towers and bird hides are lovely to view from
