I love walking the Aphen trail. Length can be adjusted accordingly. Lush and green with a flowing river and friendly people and dogs, and occasional horses. Also love the coffee available between in the mornings 7am to midday at Ave Le Seur field.

I loved the trail, and so did the kids. Very green and clean. Bring your fur babies and expect a lot of other dogs. You might even see some horses. So put on those trainers, bring the kids, fur babies, and enjoy the walk. You can walk on the lower path or decide to go up and walk on the upper path, look down, and go over the river. A few swings along the way for those daredevils. I will most definitely be walking this trail again.

Beautiful shady trail that’s so peaceful (especially if you go later in the evening from about 6:30) - lots of dogs, a stream for them to swim, squirrels all over. There’s a section where you have to cross over a road to continue the trail, so be careful of dogs off leash with cars.

Lovely trail. Very easy. No climbs. Family and dog friendly. It gets very busy over the weekend, though, with lots of dogs without leads, but most of the paths are spacious enough, so it's still very much enjoyable. There are various entrances to the trail, and parking is not too much of a problem (especially if you arrive early!) If you are feeling that you didn't have enough, you can cross the road to continue on to the Diepriver trail and walk back once you reach the top!

Love this trail, so many friendly people, beautiful sights and most of all soooo many cute doggos! My dog loves it here! It's also quite lively so I've been feeling very safe walking alone with my dog. It has everything, a beautiful forest, open fields, and an amazing path to walk with astonishingly beautiful views. Definitely worth a visit.

Lovely trail but I just wish that people would keep their dogs on a lead as per the sign.

Great trail, very clean(trash/litter wise) and well maintained. I've seen a few people picnicking in the shade. Very dog friendly. Theres a river so they will get wet and muddy. Please be courteous to others and pick up after your dog.

Local favourite. A beautiful, clean and safe trail where people of all ages walk and run. Dogs and horses on the trail as well. Well marked path. The main path is wheelchair/ pram friendly if you can go on a dirt road with the wheels. No restrooms.

Treat your fur baby to a walk along the Alphen trail. It has gorgeous views and a little river for the pups to cool off in. It's my new favourite adventure spot with my dog

It's good to take a walk with your pet. A family walk is also good. The road is wide and long. There is also a small stream on the side. There are shade, but there are many places without shade, so make sure to bring your hat when you go for a walk. On weekends, big dogs often go for a walk without leash.

I love the alphen trail. It is perfect for any level of fitness, and offers tons of shady and sunny spots for enjoying the outdoors and stopping to rest. The trail is safe and usually bustling with groups of people, dogs and kids. There are only few bins along the trail, usually only at the start/end of each leg. There are horse riders who frequent the trail as well as many dogs, so do not take your dog if it is reactive, or keep it on a leash. There is a coffee caravan towards the middle of the trail with delicious coffee and fresh pastries to enjoy.

The Alphen Trail is another delightful spot in Cape Town, where one can walk with dogs, enjoy the fresh air, sunlight, and mountain views with the camaraderie of others, including horse riders and kids on bikes. Conscientious folks who pick up after their dogs help to keep this a pleasant walk. There are usually car guards who welcome a tip for looking after your car. I’ve always felt safe on this trail.

Alphen trail is really beautiful. It's a river trail with the most beautiful plant life. It's very refreshing especially when hiking on a hot day.. It's safe for the whole family as it's mostly flat. There are many spots along the trail that is convenient to rest and enjoy the breathtaking views of the river and the mountains. There are also a few conveniently situated waterpoints along the trail where you can fill up your bottles.. especially for the trail runners

Fantastic place to walk and get some fresh air. Just mind where you step because people rarely clean up after their dogs. Some horses use the trail. Relatively safe and lots of doggos to talk to.

If my furry companion could convey her enthusiasm for this trail walk, it would be her favorite. Although be mindful, early mornings are busy with lots of dogs, not all very social.

Nature at its best, lots to see and explore. The trail is indeed long, and flat. We enjoyed it. It is a pet friendly environment, I do however think the work should be with your animal on a leash.

This is a wonderful trail in the heart of Constantia that offers a relaxing walk that also feels pretty secure. Parking is free and there is security on duty, and you can take the walk at your own pace while the environment provides a lovely backdrop for your thoughts. Many people walk their dogs along the trail and people are generally friendly and polite. There are a few impromptu gathering spots along the way and the benches provide extra spaces to have a rest and take in the scenery. There are no bathrooms and parts of the trail are indeed wheelchair friendly.

The alphen trail is one of my favourite walking routes. It has been my go to trail during the lockdown period. Great place for all ages and it is pet friendly. You can expect to see the odd horse rider coming past you on the track. Dogs enjoy the small rivers along the way. No bicycles are allowed on the route

  • 4/5 Ziyaad L. 3 years ago on Google
Absolutely love the place. So quiet and tranquil if you go the right time. Minus one star because dogs are allowed to walk without leashes.

  • 5/5 Victor S. 3 years ago on Google
The path has just the correct amount of shade and is wide enough to accommodate passing while maintaining enough distance to make it comfortable. I never felt unsafe or at risk at any time. I would highly recommend this walk. Great for a family.

Great hike. The trail is fairly even and it's a wonderful hike for a beginner. I felt safe at all times. Public toilets might be a big problem. But it was great fun to see families enjoying this walk together. There is nothing so amazing as being out in absolute fresh air

Its a wonderful safe and beautiful place to walk, it is however spoiled by people not keeping dogs on leads or picking up their pooh... such a shame, I always wonder why some people feel these rules don't apply to them.
