I can't believe I've been a resident in CT my whole life and only recently discovered Maria's! Our party of five sat outside in the courtyard under the fairylights for dinner, which was lovely! We didn't make a booking, and we're lucky enough to secure a table as the restaurant was full. Everyone had the Lamb Moussaka but myself, as I wanted to try a few Mezze items. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal - tasty and well prepared. Our waiter was efficient and knowledgeable and shared the history of Maria's with us. We will definitely be back!

Great looking place, with an authentic greek taverna feel. Especially love the outdoor courtyard. Unfortunately too windy when we dined there but delighted to eat inside. Star off as several of meze dishes too salty (eggplant and fried calamari breading) as well as the mushroom youvetsi but that could just be my tastes. Really friendly staff and great food selection. Recommend. Seems you do need reservations so be aware.

Haven't been for ages. Loved the meze self choice. Excellent for sharing. The lamb chops are OMG soooo good. The roasted leg of lamb was a disappointment, off the bone aka shredded and smothered in sauce. Found everything a tad too sour. In the beginning it was tasty but after a few bites it becomes overpowering. The manager is a darling.. Beautiful service from the staff. Almost 5 stars.

Very nice spot to have a great lunch or dinner in Capetown in Gardens. Especially when you’re sitting outside in the garden. It has a great Mediterranean flair. The food is very good, but a bit Pricy

Love it there at Maria's. Beautiful location on the loveliest of plazas in Cape Town. Food is delicious especially the lamb dishes. You can share a vegetarian platter as well. Very good selection of wines and the baklava cigars as a desert are absolutely scrumptious. Very friendly service! Will come again!

Food in bowls - appeals to students and office workers. Only ok

We must have ordered over 15 dishes (group of 4, family style sharing) and all of them were amazing. Cocktails were excellent too! Will be back for sure. Also despite being quite full they were really kind and accommodated our last minute booking. Actually, I just found a receipt listing everything we got, 10/10 recommend them all!

I’m sorry to say but the portions are small and it wasn’t really our taste. Service was also slow, but I’m giving a three for the food

We SO enjoyed our visit to Maria's for an early dinner this evening. Our pups were greeted with complimentary bones and fresh water! Needless to say they were happy campers here whilst we tucked into amazing food! Vegan options too! Can't wait to visit again. Thanks for the fab service Maria's!

Really tasty food. The service can be quite slow sometimes and we’ve even gotten the wrong order before after waiting a while but regardless the food was still delicious. The waiters and waitresses are very pleasant as well. If you’re patient, you’ll really enjoy your dining experience.

Yeah it was authentic Greek. But the dishes didn’t quite reach 5 stars for me…couldn’t tell you to be honest. The staff was friendly though and the vibe of the whole place is great.

In search of some Mediterranean food after a long morning of museum perusing, I was drawn to the lively vibes coming from the courtyard of Maria’s cafe. Most of the tables were reserved, so I suggest booking in advance. I found myself in a cosy table for one inside the cafe. Decor: 5/5 funky without being brash, I felt myself looking at the quirky lights while the window next to me hosted a display of live flowers in glass bottles. They have managed to mesh a variety of mismatched objects but it somehow works. Food: 5/5 I ordered the mezze, with a caraf of Chardonnay. My mezze included the Taramasalata (fish paste). If you haven’t tried this pink concoction, I recommend it full heartily. It’s divine! Also included in my mezze was the halloumi (fried), olives (highly recommend these were delicious) and the calamari medeteriano. Everything was simply delicious and the flavours burst in my mouth. This is definitely the place to come if searching for authentic Greek cuisine. If not eating the mains, I suggest ordering 2-3 mezze per person. Service: 3/5. I was sadly disappointed by the service. Maybe because I was a table of one. I had to frequently try (without avail) to catch the waiters eyes. There was a point where even the gentleman behind the bar had to ring for him to attend to me.

Really damn good. I’m Greek-American, go to Greece a lot and eat a ton of Greek food…. This place is super special. Ambiance and the food are perfect. People here are great, servers are fun and have great recommendations. Come here for sure! I got the falafel plate and vegetarian burger… oof! 💯

What a gem! The food is quality and I love their honey (that comes along when you order rooibos tea). Aubergine salad is one of my favorites ❤️ Service is generally good, I remember being warmly welcomed by a lovely lady with British accent and a gentleman when I visited a few times before.

I came here for cake and coffee one evening and the coffee was good and the Kataifi was really good I will recommend and staff are super friendly and welcoming and they have a heater if it’s a cold day

Such a cute Greek restaurant food was good!

Happened across Maria’s as we were buying donuts and decided to stop for breakfast. The wait staff are incredibly friendly and helpful and made this a great experience. They have vegan and gluten free options and are also pet friendly - our dog even got a bone from the kitchen. I absolutely loved the roast veg with tahini and used liberal amounts of their chili oil. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a meal in town.

The food was delicious. The haloumi was perfectly fried/baked, hummus was smooth and nutty, and the mücver balls crunchy outside and so tasty.

Beautiful setting and relaxing atmosphere for a breakfast or dinner. We had a lovely breakfast and it felt very cosmopolitan to be here. Good food. We've been here for dinner as well and it was also good and delicious food.

Understated, cozy, refined and, most importantly, absolutely delicious. A little oasis tucked away off a side street from the hustle-bustle of Cape Town. We refreshed ourselves with some beer to start, followed by a delicious haloumi salad, their savory mushroom pasta dish and calamari for mains. Returned a few days later on in our stay in Cape Town at lunchtime and had a sumptuous vegan salad along with more of the pasta. Staff was quite attentive too!

One of the best, most authentic Greek tavernas you will find anywhere. Service, food and drink options are incredible but it is the warmth and cosy, pretty atmosphere that really seals the deal. Booking in advance is advised, especially on weekends as Maria's is a long-beloved Cape Town favourite.

Still the best Greek restaurant in Cape Town! The food is full of 'burst-in-your-mouth-full-of-flavour", with exceptional quality products being used. The portions are large enough to feed an army! Take-out is easy and fast, and the food quality and portion size matches in house dining. I would highly recommend.

Such a lovely place. Staff are friendly and attentive. Food is tasty and the portions are a good size. The wine list is also really good. Does get busy most evenings so would suggest to book, specially if you want to sit in the outside area

Visited this restaurant last year December and it was amazing, the food was fantastic and the service good. But with my recent visit it seams that the food quality and service depreciated. I hope that they can find their passion again, it is such a lovely restaurant...

Wasn't very impressed - the food was rather bland and over-priced, and the wines all massively marked up. Wouldn't recommend.
