A very nice hiking trail with an attractive eye of an elephant. Enjoy a view of cape flats and the c shaped false bay waves. You can opt to swim at the dam after a beautiful hike and a nature view, including the beauty of Protea flat. Please note that right of admission is reserved to enter Silvermine and a fee of R38 is applicable for SA citizens and R137 for non SA.

Hiked the mountain to go see this peak. Make sure to bring cash as there is no network, electricity or card terminals nearby. The peak is extremely breathtaking. This is one of the easiest hikes you'll probably ever climb in Cape Town. I saw so many family members going up with their toddlers. And the views you get of Cape Town are so humbling and just full of awe. Next time you have a free morning, be sure to visit this peak. Just a FYI, don't use these GPS coordinates as the directions to get here with your car. Search for Silvermine Dam. Just be prepared to see lots of crowds as this is a very popular sight and attraction. πŸ˜‰

Perfect for the whole family - also lots of different paths and great to cool off by the dam after. A hike to the Elephants Eye cave is good for beginners, and a spectacular view. Payment at entrance gate is well worth it.

Elephant's Eye Cave, is a hike that is perfect for beginners. There are different routes, but not matter which path you take, it is easy. It has amazing panoramic views from the lookout point. The cave is amazing as well. It is exposed, so ensure that you are well stocked with water. Try it, you won't be sorry.

An easy hike to Elephant's Eye from Silvermine, even for those who are unfit or inexperienced. Great for families and furkids! There's no shade for the duration of the hike, so ensure not to forget sun protection. It's a treat to swim in the dam afterward the hike and spend time enjoying a picnic. Friendly reminder to bring cash for entrance into Silvermine.

Awesome walk for the novice hiker - 5km hike round trip (if you don't take a detour) The route is clearly marked.... but we missed a turn and ended up in Tokai...lol The kids loved it, and ended the hike at the dam for a little (freezing) dip in the water. We will be back to Silvermines for sure.

Excellent panoramic views on this kid friendly walk. We challenged today and tackled the hike in a wheelchair. Bike tracks madr it accessible with support up to a point just below the hut. But still great sights on offer. Cave is incredible and always a wonderr for my 5 year old. Best part is you can do this during loadsheddingn

A fairly short hike that offers wonderful views once you reach the halfway mark. Accessible and open to multiple levels of fitness. Worth visiting.

A short walk with sections that are mildly challenging. Well worth the effort and perseverance needed for the final section before the cave. Fellow hikers were friendly and added to the appreciation of the visit. Recommend that you take water with you and cash - R40.00 for locals per person, as cards are not accepted.

Moderate-intensity hike, particularly the last ascent before the cave. Unparalleled panoramic vistas.

About a 5 kilometre walk. Super rewarding for the effort. Lovely views and cave is beautiful. Stopped for lunch at the base of the cave. Kids managed it fine (7 years the youngest). Only the final 100m (I think two short narrow bits) needs an extra careful step. Dogs loved it. Would also recommend popping in at the dam when done. Definitely will do again.

Great views. Well maintained trail that is well marked. Only a few pieces of trash along the route. I picked up what I saw and hopefully others will carry out what they carry in.

Beauty personified. Absolutely worth the hike up there. Moderate hike. And doable for kiddies. Best to start early in the summer to avoid the glaring sun. Gates open at 7.30am and currently R36 per person.

An amazing hiking trail with an extraordinary view, suitable for children as well I would say from the ages 7 and up, you scramble a bit here and there as you are nearly reaching the cave, the Silvermine Dam is a great add-on, just a little dip after a good hike is so relieving, you'll definitely love it!

The earlier you start the better. Tends to get busier around 10AM. Definitely recommend stopping at the tower before finishing the hike off. Photo views are insane. One of my favorite trails

Amazing site to see. I've done it twice once from Tokai Forest and the 2nd time from Silvermines. The 2nd one is easier and quicker to get to. It is very windy closer to the eye and dangerously close to a steep edge, so be careful. Silvermines dam is idyllic place to picnic and swim in the warm water. Clean and well kept. Dogs welcome, and there's a bike trail. Highly recommend.

The journey is far more important than the destination here. One of the most beautiful and pleasurable hikes I have been on but the cave at the end was very underwhelming. At the same park there is another hiking route which I would recommend giving a try. The dam and braai areas at the park are also very useful for a hot day in Cape Town

Cash is only available when you enter. Make sure you take your cash. It's good to hike. The scenery is beautiful. It's very quiet and nice. I think it's going to be a hard climb for children under the age of five.

One of the better hikes at Silvermine. Great view of the Southern suburbs from here as well as the ocean and surrounding hills. Worth the climb. Bring a group and a camera

Love taking people here for a not too difficult hike. If you still have energy left after visiting the cave I suggest walking past the satellite for a spectacular view of Houtbay harbour. It does get pretty chilly so be sure to take a jacket with on those misty days

Fantastic views of the southern suburbs of Cape Town. The hike is relatively easy up until the last stretch leading up to the cave which has a slightly steeper incline. If you can climb 6 flights of stairs on your own steam then you'll be just fine.
