Very nice pieces love the designs. Just not happy with the service, waited a week to hear back from them after visiting them and they said I should email. After some back and forward finally got a quote. They took longer than the 10-15 days to provide the ring, even though it was not so complex. Also when we went back for a resizing they said we need to wait a month. (even though there was 3 days left before they closed) ended up using someone else to resize the ring and that only took an hour.

Dear Rae feels like a new unorthodox jeweler from Europe slammed right into the heart of CT. What a stunning interior design with attention to detail and a cunning ability to minimalism only displaying what is the essence of the brand. A website visit pales in comparison to the ambience of the store manager in her natural environment, the helpfulness and the playlist in the background. Each visit is a new experience with new jewelry to try on.

Disappointing and poor customer service. I noticed a bubble in the band when I first got the ring and within 6 months it snapped on the bubble. Then they replaced it and the band broke again 1.5years later. I have rings on each of my fingers and none of them have ever broken - some that cost a mere fraction of the exorbitant prices they charge. If you want a ring to be put on display it’s a great option, but if you plan on wearing it then avoid. When designing the ring I specifically asked for a strong option so I can wear it daily. Such a pity that there is no care put into making something so valuable. Plenty of other decent local jewellers in Cape Town that won’t take advantage of you. I recommend going to the lovely jeweller at the Blue Bird or Cape Point Vineyards market instead. His rings have lasted over 7 years without me ever taking them off!

The staff at the store are helpful and friendly but also allow you to browse at your own leisure without hanging over your shoulder, despite the store’s small size, which I appreciate. They also offer an amazingly efficient and helpful custom design service which my husband used for my engagement and wedding rings. I also had my 30th birthday present necklace designed here. And every single time it’s brought me to tears. Every piece is a work of art and feels sentimental the moment you buy it. They only use solid metals with no plating so they are of the highest quality and will become heirlooms that will last a lifetime. I’ve tried so many different jewelry brands in South Africa and honestly just keep ending up choosing Dear Rae. They are the most originally designed and best quality local jewelry brand available and I know this is quite an emotional review but it’s because I honestly do have the highest recommendation and greatest respect for this brand.
