On the website they have two pools. When we got there the pools looked like fish ponds, very disappointed which means we could not swim , we had to go to the beach. The cleaning of the rooms very disappointing too. Our plates from the night before was still in our rooms. I asked the lady at reception to please send someone to fetch it. When we left we had a pile of plates they never collected. We had to wait so long for our food ,we had to fetch it ourselves. The food quality very very poor.

We haven't booked a room in the resort yet, but we are regular guests at the fabulous in-house restaurant called Thorfynn's. The food is amazing, you have fabulous views of the ocean from the outside deck and you get direct access to the beach from the restaurant. You just have to follow a short walkway through the wood. The kids love it, too! They have a huge jungle gym downstairs, so children are not right next to your table but still in eye sight. They can climb, slide or play some put put. On hot days, they can even cool off their feet in the pool on the deck. We absolutely love this place and always take along guests to show them this beautiful restaurant.

While this place has an incredible setting with stunning scenery all around, the place isn't maintained well, some of the rooms have a very strong mould smell, and a lot of things like taps and window handles are broken. It is also very clear that no one cleans the rooms on a regular basis because everything is covered in dust. It's a real pity because the place has so much potential, but sadly it's just not as great as it could be. The best part is that you have a private path leading to the beach, and mostly beach views depending which room you stay in.

What a venue. Service was great, but take away food was all mixed up in one container. Chips were drowning in sauce, butternut squashed in between soggy chips and chicken. Thought the chicken and chips would come separately, with veg separately and sauce un a container. Is this normal practice?

a cozy place where you want to return again and again. it was windy and the wind whistled from all the cracks, but the rooms have a fireplace and a heater, which is very nice. The food is delicious in the restaurant. Friendly staff, I definitely recommend coming here. 👍🏼

Go here to relax and enjoy the view. The staff are super friendly; but don’t be in rush. Things move at a suitably holiday pace. Highly recommend visiting

The location is breathtaking. It's really a view to experience. The resort needs a little refreshing, it feels a little worn. The giftshop is nice, but the clerk was on his phone. I ordered a coffee from the breakfast room waiters, I waited about 30 min before seeing a few people queued for the percolator. I am no expert, but it seems that the lodge is being neglected by management.

Friendly service and warm welcomes. The facilities were incredibly well kept although not super luxurious. I loved the atmosphere and the bustle while we were there. Service was a little slow but tolerable because it neant you could sit at the beautifully situated restaurant and enjoy a few drinks while waiting for your room or meal. I'd defenitely visit soon again.

I had my end of year function there with a few staff members, and the ambiance was terrific. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I love the energy at this establishment.

Not my first time here but definitely the one to remember, The staff was friendly and helpful, the food was absolutely amazing I even had a chat with the chef to express how great the food was. He mentioned that their ethos in the kitchen is for people to create memories and come back to MVR. We got the most amazing chalet with gorgeous views, well kitted rooms WiFi was great. I do feel that the place needs a little bit of an upgrade, the lights in the chalet were a bit dull some fixtures were a bit lose os maintenance of the rooms are lacking a bit especially the kids play area was dirty, the grass want cut, the surface was uneven and some of the jungle gym items was broken......but I overlooked this Vs what we as a family actually experience as a whole.

I have always wanted to stay over at Monkey Valley but being in my backyard I never did. However I moved to Johannesburg and when I came to Cape Town I booked two nights. My excitement turned almost instantly to disappointment. The rooms are terrible, the toilets smell is awful, taps leaking and generally run down. The parking is near impossible and the driveway poorly lit so negotiating it in the dark is dangerous. The breakfast was way below my expectations and the service was non existent. I requested a new room for the next night. It was marginally better but still run down. I didn’t bother with breakfast the next morning as it wasn’t anything to look forward to. I cannot recommend this place unless your standards are really low and you have limited expectations.

This is a beautiful location. We had breakfast and lunch while attending a 2 day workshop in one of the houses. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere with a junglegym for kids. Great food.

A peaceful getaway with stunning views onto Noordhoek beach. There's also a private walkway from the resort down to the beach. Good service from very friendly staff. The cleaning of the rooms was very disappointing, breakfast was way below our expectations ,we didn’t bother with breakfast the next morning as it wasn’t anything to look forward to.

Our favourite little get away from city life. The nature is just so magical. Included breakfast is a game changer. Bath tubs are the highlight!! Next time I go I plan to stay for 3 days and 4 nights.

A peaceful getaway with stunning views onto Noordhoek beach. There's also a private walkway from the resort down to the beach. Simple units, but very comfortable for a family stay.

Stopped for pizza lunch with nice drinks. Nice place with great views. Some family members stayed there recently and they say it was fantastic.

A great place for visitors or check in...beautiful accommodation or coffee venue...the scones were promised to be baked directly after loadshedding...and delivered. The buffet looked tempting, to pick from, a quality destination with breakfast on your doorstep. There was a restaurant for formal dinner.

The view is amazing. The chalets have a nice cabin feel. The bathroom could’ve done with some updating and the rooms could have darker curtains to keep the sun out a little longer in the morning. Overall an amazing location.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! Private, peaceful and well appointed. The restaurant is lovely, with a very good live musician that was PERFECT for Sunday loadshedding. Beautiful beach less than a kilometer away. Cannot recommend highly enough!

Monkey Valley is in a superb location, but the lodge itself has seen better days. Very dated and in serious need of some TLC, while the food is passable at best. The staff and the view are the only thing going for it really. (And can we talk about the tiny-tiny door handles on the rooms? Crouching in the dark to open your door in load shedding was not fun for anyone)

Party of four, two chalets. Bumblebee and Butterfly. What an amazing place. Location is perfect. Parking is good. We all felt safe. Wonderful views of the beach. Superb service in the afternoon and early evening. Yummy supper and hospitality that made this South African proud as the other members of the party were from overseas. However, the breakfast service was the worst that have ever experienced. Which is a pity as the first impression that we had the afternoon/evening before was just perfect and that set the bar high. The last impression was the polar opposite. Breakfast service was terrible. Which is just such a shame. Firstly any staff we tried to engage with was dismissive and point blank rude. Muttering under their breaths whenever we asked a question regarding breakfast. Eventually after what seemed ages we were told "no eggs" - not "Apologies but the eggs have not been delivered yet" When we asked if there were croissants, again we were met with disdain and how dare we even ask! Eventually after approximately 30 minutes we received half baked croissants (raw on the inside). The hot breakfast that eventually arrived was oily. Based on the morning experience, I would not recommend it. As it left uch a bad taste. Perhaps we drew the short straw. Perhaps every other breakfast experience is far better. We will never know.

We only stayed one night. Room was clean and comfortable. Bathroom a bit small (a squeeze to get to the toilet). The musty smell is from log cabins and the thatched roof so was to be expected. Staff were very pleasant from the reception to the waitresses. Pizza on arrival was delicious. Dinner was a letdown as they were short staffed and ran out of potato fries and mussels. Also no management was present which was strange for a Monday night before a public holiday as they were very busy. But all in all a pleasant stay 😃

Very disappointed. A wonderful venue with excellent food was let down with poorly trained staff. Drinks were ordered and delivered to the incorrect table on 2 occasions. When asked to speak with a member of management we were then told (at 7pm) that the manager on duty had "gone home" on a busy Saturday evening. I would love to recommend this venue but am very reluctant unless staff are trained correctly by management.

One of our most favourite hang out spots. Friendly staff, good food spectacular views, child friendly (a pool!). Worth noting is that often when there are functions waitors are overwhelmed and service is slow and food then is not great.. But beyond that one of the best restaurant a in the deep south.

Hell. Noisy and dirty. We stayed here for 2 night. Maybe bad luck as there was a wedding planned, but we had 2 days in hell. On our first night there was a bachelor party at the house just opposite if us. This went on until 2 am. The second night there was a wedding with loud music, just beneath our room. Thank god this stopped at 10.30, but it was loud. The noise on both night was so loud that we tried to do some work or watch a movie. Sleeping was impossible. But WiFi wasn’t working, so no TV, no Internet. We never had WiFi in our room during our stay. Rooms are outdated, poor, and dirty. Stains on the wall, sticky floors. Bed not long enough. Sink loose. I’m 1.84/ 6ft.1 but my feet went over the edge. Restaurant is about the same: read all those reviews. Bad food, slow and ignorance service and dirty as well.

Just had the most disappointing lunch. We took family to lunch and the food and service was terrible. It was clear that they were understaffed as we had to walk to the kitchen a few times to ask for sauces etc. Some items we ordered never arrived. The fish had more batter than fish and it was definitely not fresh. Sadly we won't be returning.

We stayed 5 nights and the most wonderful time. The self catering unit is fully equipped with the most spectacular view over long beach. The hotel rooms does not have a shower but are also lovely with a great view. The restaurant really has good food, especially the pizza. Would definitely recommend this place.

Monkey Valley resort was a great place foe us to have a writing retreat. We had a great conference venue with great views and good food in abundance. The rooms are quite creative and rustic, but one does get the feeling they can do more te clean and maintain the rooms. Overall it was a great experience I thoroughly enjoyed. I would be happy to spend time here again.

The food was good. Steak cooked as requested. The fact that there was no manager on duty to ensure quality service and address our concerns, was very worrying. The barman tried to serve us shots that was sitting at another table for over an hour and then had the worst attitude in the world. The waitress tried her best but it's very obvious that they rely on you being distracted by the view.

Went for a club run and breakfast... They were not prepared for the numbers even though we confirmed in advance and some time was spent standing at buffet awaiting top ups. Lack of kids option was also disappointing. Staff did well to maintain professionalism, interact, and offer plenty juice and coffee while we waited.

The service is not great. Not at all. Maybe regulars are used to it. I've been there a few times, but spaced out tremendously because of the service. It's like the waiters and waitresses don't want to be there sometimes. You are not even welcome in when you enter. Waiters are standing to the side chatting to each other and you just walk by and go and find your own table to sit down. Service - pathetic. Such a pity, really.

Really awesome food, especially the salads and pizza. The staff was really friendly and awesome. The first time I went to monkeys Valley back in 2018 it was terrible, but they definitely changed things around. Loved every second of it.

Lovely resort. Pity the room had no view and no shower facility. Toilet made a huge noise after flushing. Breakfast was the one saving grace for this review.

The location is great, the views are amazing. I was there for a work function so have not slept over. They have multiple seating areas and accommodate large crowds. I think there's 2 conference rooms if you want to have your next work function. The food was disappointing, the servings were way too little for the amount of people and we had to wait a while for refills. Lunch was also disappointing, we did not get what we asked for and again ran out of food and had to wait. The rest came when lunch was over and we needed to get on with our programme. We had a meal right before leaving which was more filling and very tasty however the rolls were old and falling apart. There are so many trees and a small pool if you bring the kids along. Its very private given the fact that its nestled in between homes. I would recommend however, the food and service is questionable.

It has an idyllic view. You're a walk away from a beautiful white sandy beach. You can hear the waves at night as you sleep. I think if the facilities are renovated this would be an easy 5.

When it's good weather, sitting on the deck is really a great experience. Rooms and resort are really out dated when it comes to decor. Food is good service is average. Staff is friendly.
