22-08-13th. We took the Platteklip trail. Hard for people with mobility reduced. Bring trainers or mountain shoes/boots and water or snacks. You have to know that now the cable car is being fixed, so you need to climb and go down by yourself. Bring also a jacket for the top. Look also the weather forecast before! The astonishing views deserve the effort!

Beautiful hiking trail with outstanding views. Its especially beautiful in spring. The route is mostly steps and well defined steps, with some areas that require using your hands/scrambling. If you are fit, it's easy. But if you are not fit or you are scared of heights it will be challenging.

It was such an amazing experience! Start early to avoid the sun/heat, it’s a good 1,5/2hr climb, you must have good shoes for the climb! It’s really breathtaking during the climb but once you get up there, you will see the most beautiful view in SA, it’s breathtaking and absolute worth the climb! A must do when in Cape-town

Hiked up with the family, and we loved it. The kids had no problems. Definitely advisable to start early before the sun becomes too strong. We started around 7:30, and it took us about 2 hours.

Despite the supposed ease of the trail in various descriptions, do not be fooled. If you're a young whippersnapper with fresh knees this will be a breeze. If you're not treat this like your hiking up Everest. But, with the African sun baking you to a crisp. Bring LOTS of water. Wear Lots of sunscreen, and keep reapplying because you will be sweating it off every 15-20 minutes. Don't forget the backs of your legs if you wear shorts. A hat is a must, as there is little shade for most of the day in summer. If you plan on hiking down don't even think about doing this trail without real hiking boots. The incline is steep, and you're stepping up/down over a foot easy for a large stretch of the trail. If you've got bum knees, take the cable car. So why is this a 5 star review despite the above caveats? The views are Spectacular. The flora and fauna are unique to Table Mountain, so despite the exertion of the hike they really can be show stopping. Start early rather than later, because Table Mountain's tablecloth tends to roll across in the afternoon obscuring views, and dropping the temp dramatically. Give yourself time to take in the views from the top, and walk around the unique environment that makes up its own floral kingdom. Every amenity is avaliable at the top, including a really well-stocked gift shop.

This was a pretty cool hike! Trail is in good condition but be prepared for mostly stone steps, it’s not a gradual trail even though it is considers the easiest route up. From the bus drop off you need to hike up the road about 20 mins, we entered at the first small sign but I don’t think that’s the right spot, they told us there is a big sign which may have been another 50-100m along the road near the car parking area. There is also more hiking available at the top than we realized, would have been very cool to spend a couple hours hiking up there with the amazing views in all directions but we didn’t start early enough to allow for that.

Not for the faint hearted. This is a climbing hike with lots of elevation, check out all the details of the hike on AllTrails before doing this. It was an amazing hike with some beautiful scenery. It took us about two hours to get to the top and we went down with the cable cars (i would recommend). Definitely doing this again! Worth the sweat!

What an experience. Stunning climb this morning. Started at 8am and hiked the route in the early morning mist, keeping things really cool. 1h45min later, we were at the top of Table Mountain. With 3 water breaks and a good 10 min snack break, with my level of fitness ( its okay 😰, the fitness level that is) I thought we did well. A must for any hiker. Its not easy, but it's worth every step and view.

Went this morning. It was tough but we’ll worth it! Lots of stops and taking in the view. Some shade but not masses. Parked next to the coffee van and made our way up to the top & cable car. The walk up to the cable car took a relatively fit couple almost 2 hours (1.5 hours to top & 30 mins walk along the top to the cable bar area). Then a 210 rand cable car down before a 20min walk along the road back to the car. Go early and take plenty of water!

Start early, bring enough water and wear hiking shoes. Easiest of the hikes up Table Mountain, but not easy! Stunning views, well worth the effort!

What a hiking experience this was for me. It was tough, but so worth it in the end. To catch the sunrise from the mountain is incredible. I recommend anyone visiting or staying in Cape Town to do this trial. Happy hiking πŸ€—

Definitely the hike to do for endurance and incomparable to "leg day" at gym. Would recommend you start early and keep hydrated! Not suitable for beginner hikers or tourists. The complete hike took me 3,5 - 4h and we took a rewarding dip at Camps Bay afterwards!!

Mistakenly took this route with no knowledge that it leads to the top of the Table Mountain. It is really challenging, both going up and coming down, not really sure if I enjoyed it yet, LOL, but it was worth the challenge and actually came to realize that all the hikes I thought I did, were actually not hikes, This one is!!

Found this hike to be quite a struggle, it's basically walking up steep stairs for two hours. But it is well worth it and has beautiful views of the actual mountain. You feel like a real champion when you reach the top! Make sure you are adequately prepared for a tough hike that might have different weather from the ground!

If you go early enough you can get the sunrise above cape town and its beautiful. I was really dreading the trek. I'm a smoker and didn't do ANY exercise for years. But I made it. Slowly but made it. Just under 2h. And my sister and bf 1h25. It is really rewarding and the view is so worth it. You will meet some dassis on top. Don't feed them or touch them even though they are super brave by coming to you. Get a coffee on top and enjoy the view. We went down by cable car (which I was dreading too!) but its quiet quick and not that high from the actual ground. Also, Saturday morning is quiet busy.

This hiking experience was fantastic. I'm from Cape Town and I'd never hiked Table Mountain before. So I knew I wanted to do it. It was intense, lots of scrambling and using your hands to balance and get onto a next rock. Lots of uphill. It took us 1 hour and 50 min to complete. Go with friends. It was overcast so it wasn't too bad in terms of heat. Update: I did it a second time and this time the sun was on my back, but we took 1 hour and 40 minutes to do it this time. I preferred the overcast day to support the cooling down of the body, but this meant no views. Choose your battles, I guess.

Brilliant hike! 2.5 hours up and some stunning views. Well sign posted and lots of other hikers on the way. Beware the slippery rocks and take lots of water.
