There were two waitresses attending to guests. One was very friendly and honestly I cannot fault her service but the other one, I believe her name is Chantal, was extremely rude and borderline aggressive. Not just to me but to some of the other guests as well. She clearly hates her job or has some issues going on but this is unacceptable!!!! She doesn't need to be friendly, just polite. The food taking too long was one thing, this just made a very bad experience worse.

Service is always great, rooms are clean but they don't change the linen frequently. The restaurant service is also good however food could be better.

Cozy stay and friendly staff members. Convenient stay near the GrandWest Casino and entertainment facilities. Also a welcoming entrance to a classic facade with Cape Dutch architectural details and elements - see photos. Plenty of parking space.

Useful location for attending events at Grand West and only 20 minutes to the airport. Rooms are adequate. Only shame was the food, I ordered the Dover sole which arrived beautifully pan fried, but served on instant mash which was simply awful. If a chef can cook fish well you'd think peeling a potato wouldn't be too difficult.

I have been to 230 hotels in the last 2 years, and this one is hands down the best City lodge period, Staff is highly trained, always a smile on the face, always feel welcome when i walk in, all the staff is friendly and the team is always well dressed, Good job Management will always return Thanks

I travel quite often for business to the western cape. I always choose City Lodge Grand west. Amazing people and Amazing service. Special thanks to Keshia she always goes out of her way.

The hotel and facilities were fine The dinner was mediocre, although the staff were helpful and pleasant! Please get a chef who loves to cook!

We stayed here while attending an event at Grand Arena and I was very pleasantly suprised at the cleanliness of the room! The shower was amazing and the amenities were perfect and everything was seen to, even a coffee and biscuit on the way out in the morning! Will definitely be back for more events in the future! Middle of Cape Town international and The City . 5 mins drive from Canal Walk, N1 City and Grand West Casino on your doorstep. Food... The potato chips the best on menu.

Was quite excited to book into City Lodge for a couple of days. I booked one of the 'smoker rooms' and on arrival it still smelled like old cigar . I recommend that the owners work on something to get the smell of smoke out before the arrival of new guests or to replace the carpets at least with tiles so that the smoke don't stick around for too long. A bar fridge would also be helpful in the future. Other than that, the service was nice and it is safe to walk around on premises.

Had a lovely overnight stay. Hotel was lovely and warm and inviting. Staff were very friendly, helpful and check in was very quick. Loved the bathroom amenities... unique and sustainable... well done!

Great place and amazing atmosphereThis cafe is amazing, I love it. The food menu is 100% . The staff is very friendly and is comfortable to sit. You can come with friends but also to work. I can recommend the food and drink , I love it, is amazing!

So I booked through Expedia while at the airport and when I got to the hotel they didn’t have my booking (technological lag). The guy at the desk was helpful in taking my credit card and allowing me to rebook while the Expedia booking is applied. Very helpful! The room was clean and good quality for the price! The cleaning staff knocked and opened my door at 9:40 for turnover. Very rude to knock early and not give the paying customer time to get to the door- let alone the fact that YOUR EARLY! I would visit again but with a caveat for the cleaning crew.

Rooms are lovely and comfortable. Breakfast was great. Service from waitresses when sitting outside are very poor. No service. Previous customers empty bottles and glasses on the table, aswell as dirty ashtrays

I must commend Vincent from the restaurant for his excellent service. He was extremely thoughtful, very quick and always had a smile on his face. He knew the details and origins of the wines on the menu, which was very refreshing. He made our experience at the restaurant so much more comfortable. Big ups to Vincent!

The rooms need to be upgraded. The cleaning staff are very noisy. Shouting at each other up and down the corridor. Our room was situated above the entrance so we heard loud music from the staff taxis. Staff waiting for their lift were loud as well. Not a peaceful place

Total rubbish. Even at 3 Stars standard. Rooms don't provide shampoo, they give you a piece of soap for both BODY AND HAIR. And the kicker? If you not used to this prison method of cleaning? You have to drive a good 20 minutes to the closest shopping center. For a 3 stars, the hotel room is closer to a 2 stars. Service wise, I hope you like glooming old uncle speaking to you like you come here begging. Or else, you might be as unhappy as me.

I visit the hotel quite often for business stay between 3 days and a week at a time. The staff are very friendly it feels like a home away from home. I would recommend it.

I have been using this hotel for 8 years now. Never have I had one day where I had bad service, bad food, bad anything. I look at these reviews and i feel that people must remember that this is the City Lodge and not a 5 star hotel. I have only received good service, from the staff and their hospitality is always warming especially because i am away from my family they make me feel at home. I would like to thank each and every employee at City Lodge Grand West for their services and especially the lady at the breakfast desk as she makes me feel so at home and will take the time to have a conversation with me. Keep up the good work.

Clean, good food and the staff was excellent. Location is a bit weird, as the casino is near nothing. Jakes Gerwel Road did not feel very safe. Close to airport though.

Booked a suite here for an overnight stay. Absolutely worth every penny! One of the best hotel rooms i have ever stayed in with regards space, layout and amenities. Not a 5-star hotel so don't expect all the frills - but I have not stayed in a better value for money hotel ever. Will stay here anytime I need to again. Delicious breakfast, friendly and helpful staff all help to make your stay absolutely great! Only 1 "complaint" - the most uncomfortable pillows! Can freely recommend to anyone!

My husband and I stayed a few nights and the hotel was peaceful and breakfast staff was really amazing.but ladies at reception isn't that much helpful. Need some skill and the room wasn't the cleanest I've been in. Definitely won't go back.

Easy check in and out process. Rooms are big and clean. They serve wonderful breakfast and dinner. Gym facility on site.

Rooms are quite small but nicely furnished. The location is inside the Grand West Casino so you will need a car as there is nothing around it.

Slept like a baby rooms always neat&tidy also enjoyed the gym would be great if they could fix the treadmill..👍

The service is always amazing. Always the friendliest staff. Food is great, and rooms are clean and cozy.

When we initially arrived, the receptionist (I had caught her name) was not welcoming at all. No room service. No fridge in the rooms. No irons/ironing board in the room, but you can request it, which for me is still an inconvenience. No microwave in the rooms either. There isn’t a charging port by the bed, so you can’t work on your laptop/phone in bed, but rather have to sit at the table. It was not that clean either? I’m not sure if housekeeping doesn’t vacuum the carpets, or what but i was not pleased. Definitely will not be returning, but worth the price.

We enjoyed our short stay at City Lodge and found the service great. They were very helpful and professional. Our room was neat and clean, and had everything we needed. The location was great as we were going to a concert at Grand West, which is walking distance from the hotel. The breakfast is decent and has good variety.

Management must control noise level by guests and kids after 10pm. Suggest put up signs in all corridors.

I spent 7 nights at this fantastic hotel last week. It is a very clean and comfortable hotel with great service. Rooms are small but very comfortable and amazingly clean. The hotel is located about 50 meters walk to the Grand West Casino which has several restaurants for great dining experience every night. Also, the hotel breakfast is one of the best I have had in all my travels - both hot and continental choices. This is the hotel I recommend for anyone travelling to Cape Town.
