This hotel gives me the impression that the owners are not interested in the guests, rather they are attempting to maximize profit. The carpets in the hotel passages are dirty and worn and unfortunately, although the food in the restaurant is good, the service is painfully slow. To top this, on check-in I was informed that due to loadshedding, the airconditioners in the rooms have been disconnected or removed. I was told that I would be provided a blanket for the bed if I required. Mid-winter in Cape Town, the room was freezing cold. A blanket does not help while I am sitting working. Invest in a generator or solar, and make your guests confortable. I will not stay at this hotel again, and Marroitt Group, you should consider your reputation.

Huge parties on Saturday mornings which can be heard throughout the neighbourhood. Not the kind of place to stay at if you are looking for a quiet break or have to do business. Oh, and the hotel isn't even really located in Durbanville, so the name is just dishonest.

I didn't book my room so I cannot rate it on location. Was an apartment room right at the back where all the blue bins line the walls. However! The room was clean, had everything I needed. And the best part of my bed was that the sheets didn't smell like cigarettes! Amazing hairdryer. Shower pressure was good. Breakfast was great! Lovely variety. But was really makes this place are the wonderful warm and friendly staff! From reception, porter,to every other smiling, friendly, helpful staff member. Thank you for making me feel valued and at home. The staff make it worth while to come back again. Keep on having one of the highest standards of Excellence I have seen in a long time. Keep walking tall! You are valuable and appreciated.

I went to the hotel for lunch. Ordered 2 burgers. Both lacked sauce and upon requesting mayonnaise, it took 20-25 minutes to arrive at which time my food was cold. I was the only one in the dinning area at the time so it wasn't a matter of the staff being overwhelmed with patrons. The staff was very friendly, polite and apologetic on the bright side.

Our family went for breakfast and the offering wasn't huge but was tasty. Decor dated and dark, we opted to sit outside, even though it was a bit overcast it was refreshing

Beautiful vineyard with spectacular views and spacious rooms. The reason Iโ€™ve given them a four star rating, I was the disappointment with their food. Their desert and breakfast, requires great improvement

Very disappointed. We were traveling and needed to freshen up. We had no hot water in the showers or bath. Reception doesn't answer calls sometimes. Complete waste of time.

Quality of the food in restaurant needs to be improved. WiFi in the rooms are weak . Airconโ€™s remotes are not available.

Great service by staff, very clean, big bedroom with balcony, amazing restaurant with fireplace and comfy chairs free wi-fi. Not affected by power cuts. Lovely decor! I will definitely be going there again.

Went for Dinner. The service was extremely slow which was disappointing. The food(Lamb Shank and steak ) was delicious. When the pina colada eventually arrived it was yum. The starter and dessert choices was very limited. The ambience and setup is good. Will visit again to try their pizzas.

Ate brunch on the patio adjacent the pool, highly disappointed at the quality! No white bread, no eggs Benedict and the quality of what we did have for the price is ridiculous. The waiter was friendly, a little too familiar but he was apologetic for the above.

    1. Reservation nearly canceled despite calling a day early to advise of a check-in after midnight. 2. Rooms are dated ... especially the bathrooms; particularly against the stunning foyer and entrance or even the bar upstairs. 3. Asked for a room with a balcony when booking, did not get it ... 4. Doubtfull if I will stay there again, served the basic purpose

We only went to the restaurant after a hike. Their menu says they serve breakfast till 12:30, but although it was only 12:00, there were some things they wouldn't serve, because they were starting their lunch menu. Why then say that it's available till 12:30? What we did get (toasted sandwiches, etc) was fine.

Phewwww! So, I arrived on a Sunday and Cape Town was cold. My 1st unpleasant suprise was that we were not given aircon remotes due to the energy crisis. I was given a mini version of a heater, was cold the whole night๐Ÿ˜. The following day I shared my experience with colleagues who told me they had remotes in their rooms. I called the hotel, only then was I given the remote. They have a very nice breakfast menu. Some of their staff members are not so friendly!!! Overall, a fair experience. I would not consider the hotel with my next visit though๐Ÿ™‚

Reception is clean and welcoming. Rooms are spacious and clean. Clean towels everyday. Carpet in the hallway leading to the rooms is so dirty and stinky. Staff is friendly but Reception and room service sometimes takes forever to answer their calls. Also kitchenette doesn't have a microwave and no toilet brushes

We attended a 50th birthday celebration and the staff and venue lived up and better than what was expected. They were polite.. patient...attentive and serving the customer was their priority. I have no complaints. Great service all.around

We went for dinner and also had a business meeting at the same time and it was not the first time. But the treatment and quality is top of the range. Welcoming was warm and so was the staff, we had a phenomenal time I'm a great atmosphere.

Popped in at Protea Hotel Durbanville for breakfast for Woman's Day. Great service recieved from Vincent and Nako. Breakfast offerings were delicious, great job to the chefs. The general atmosphere and decor of the public spaces are stunning and welcoming. Love the feel.

Food and service staff are great. Rooms are clean. Management is however another story all together, in particular a rude an abnoxious individual named Vincent.

Booked two rooms, for my MD & his business guest from Germany. Reservations emailed me to move one guest then "recalled" the email which I was meant to assume meant the issue had been resolved. I was left with one guest at the Marriott & the other at a guest house 10 minutes away! Still waiting for the "manager' to contact me back. We then had to shuffle all our reservations around to accommodate their poor planning, including a dinner reservation. Rest assured we will not make use of your establishment for our business trips going forward

Liked it. The food is great. Staff are great. But if you're sharing rooms and are staying in upstairs room, you have to remind them for towels, rugs etc. They forget. That aside, I enjoyed my time there

Great place. White and Coloured staff friendly an professional. Breakfast excellent. Dinner extremely disapponted. Pasta too spicy, steak so tough i think an old army boot sole is more tender. Safe parking.

Where to begin. Pizza tastes like cardboard, cheese like plastic, avo was pathetic and puke green. The coffee tasted like the machine had to be cleaned. Chips were soggy and just tasteless, yuck. Worst R700 I spend, ever. 300ml sprite R28, 300ml Fanta R30....only at this hotel. I asked, for the manager....still waiting.....NEVER EVER AGAIN. ZERO RATING, in all respects.

Attended a 1 day conference. Great venue but lunch was VERY disapointing. Two dishes served and both the beef and chicken (extra large pieces???) were extremely tough.

Nothing to say negative about the place at all but what I can say is: professionalism from Security check point to top management ,house keeping, I mean everyone is playing his or her part to make you feel like you are home away home.***** ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ‘Œ

Sun, cocktails, delicious meals, comfortable family-orientated rooms with enough space for everyone, stylish breakfast hall serving breakfasts fit for royalty. Wh doesn't love a cocktail at the pool! Restaurant is truly phenomenal and the hotel itself beautifully appointed. We stayed for 18 days and the staff made us feel like we owned the place. I cannot thank them enough for their love, hospitality, and above and beyond accomodating nature. Nothing was ever to much for them to help you with arranging your day or important aspects of your trip. I would highly recommend staying here. When back in South Africa we will most definitely be returning. Thank you to the team.

Very good service, friendly staff, lovely buffet style breakfast rooms are clean, i had a 2 bedroom loft so it was spacious, the only thing that i can say is the shower floor needs some attention, i use sandals in the shower (slipslops) always use in any shower

If the was an option for a Zero rating I would've chosen that! They SHOULD NEVER EVER have weddings at this facility! The coordinator of the wedding was miserable and it felt like we were torturing her asking for assistance. There was no one there to assist when we arrived and that seemed like the theme of the day from the staff members. It seemed like no one was on the same page. Being that I am in the wedding industry I know that at least a week before an itinerary would be sent. It was requested by the coordinator but never got. We requested instead of a chicken curry that they do just roast chicken it was said that they wouldn't be able to do that they refused to accommodating to any request. They refused to give any discount accommodation for the couple and guest which is a standard in the industry. On the day of the wedding the reception staff were very friendly and helpful but when we got to the "venue" there was no one we waited for like an hour until someone had to go look for the coordinator. She then came back with one female to assist her. We asked is there no "man power" as we needed tables moved. The coordinator stated "there was a sudden rush upstairs and there was no one to assist" she was extremely annoyed with our request. She brushed us off and then disappeared. The pizzas that were ordered in advance weren't set up when the reception was over and came in dribs and drapes . The stock at the bar was minimal and this wasn't what was discussed previously. The tables were very unstable I requested before the bride and groom arrived for the table to be swapped out as it was uncomfortable and made a noise but was told by the male staff member "that's just the way they are and wont fall" and refused to help. It made a noise the entirety of the speech. The Food: Salads: There was no Carrot, Pineapple and dried Apricot Salad or replacement as stated on the menu. Hot Selection: Malay Chicken Curry - Was not that - It was chicken pieces in bland watery sauce that lacked taste. There no sweetness as Malay curry would have. there was no potatoes or anything in this "curry". DESSERTS: The seasonal fruit platter: what a joke!!!!!!!!!!! The was one plate of melon and a plate of oranges! There was no grapes, pineapples, apples, strawberries or anything that is actually in season. I know for a fact that they had other fruits because a platter of fruit was order which had a variety. The bride had to order her own meal from the restaurant because the chef refused to assist. By the end of the night there was only one staff member and we had to help her clear up. Accommodation: what a waste of money! We should have rather gone home. We were woken up at 5 in the morning to fire alarms going off the Wi-Fi wasn't working. Then when we went to breakfast we sat down ate. The breakfast was decent but then the front desk lady called me and told me only one breakfast was included in a two bedroom/ 4 sleeper. They refused to be of any assistance and the manager wasn't very helpful and the lady and the front desk to breakfast. They need De-Escalation Training as they don't know how to deal with irate customers. Also the staff didn't do any turndown service for the bridal couple. Most hotels do that. Everything was far apart I asked for different rooms because my mother was elderly and couldn't be up and down the stairs. I would never recommend anyone get married let alone stay the night.!
