VOI Vila Do Farol Resort

Extended stay hotel

😠 The hotel has a good location near the Beach (however a bit far from Santa Maria - about 2.2kms). It has a very good salt water pool and in general the resort seems well designed despite the fact that it is obviously dated. The food is also ok, even though the variety isn't great and very repetitive... People often mention water, beach, staff, resort, room, night, hotel, good, pool, guests,

The hotel has a good location near the Beach (however a bit far from Santa Maria - about 2.2kms). It has a very good salt water pool and in general the resort seems well designed despite the fact that it is obviously dated. The food is also ok, even though the variety isn't great and very repetitive for 1 week stays. Now, the classification I've given is not due to the fact that the hotel is dated or completely aiming only at italians. These two facts I already knew when I booked and it was ok for me. The rating is based on a series of facts, observations and opinions I have collected during my stay, namely: - arrived at 3am, the staff check us in with a 5y old kid and no volunteer at all to help us with luggage and find the room that was assigned to us. It wasn't difficult to find it for sure but in a resort I'd expect a better treatment to the customer as it is usual in other resort from different brands. - the shampoo or soap to take a shower or simply wash hands is ridiculously small and not effective at all. Also they are not refilled during the stay if you don't ask explicitly. So, if you want soap and it is finishing, it is better to ask for it or else you won't get it and need to buy in a local shop. - water bottles are paid, regardless of having all inclusive package or not. Only cups of water are free. So during the night you either don't drink or need to buy bottles of water. - room service looked unneffective and irregular, despite the sympathy of the staff. - music and animation completely directed towards italian people, ignoring mostly people from other countries, including Kids. Also music is extremely loud in the pool area during almost the entire day and some of the nights as well, which, if you have kids that need proper rest (or yourself), make this hotel not a good pick for a holiday where you want to really rest. - snacks during the day are only possible in one out of three bars, however they are only available until 18:00 which means that between the closure of this bar and the dinner at 19:30 you can't get anything to eat. Given that some tours to the island leave at 19:30 and return at 22:00, you won’t be able to have dinner unless you eat something before 18:00 at the bar. - the pillows for adults are ridiculously small, almost useless. At least the one for the kid was ok. - one night rained 15mins and immediately the room was flooded from water that entered from the door. While I do understand why it happened - poor construction, dated rooms - I do not understand that in a resort where we pay well we wake up in the middle of the night with the room flooded and everyone seems to believe it is normal. It is certainly not normal to pay well and have this experience of leaving in a social building. - on the day after needed to ask twice for cleaning the flooded room until in fact someone comes to the room. The staff was so busy with flooded rooms that I could see that they didn't clean it properly, leaving some dirt and mud despite removing the water and only in the next day completed the cleaning. - This is probably not exclusive from this hotel as I've heard same stories from Hilton for example but sometimes staff may ask you for something to drink because they cannot have it by themselves. It is shameful that in a place where temperature is very high that staff needs to rely on guests to get drinks, including water. - forget about Internet access, there is Wi-Fi however the service is very poor and only somewhat working on the reception. In other places the coverage is fairly intermittent. Given this experience which I have detailed here, I would not recommend this hotel unless you have no Kids, you are italian or you are not looking for a vacation to rest.

Old fashioned Italian resort, bit far from city center where you can find the night live in the city because in the resort everything is for Italian guests. Reasons I removed stars: -1 internet connection most of the time not available it does not matter the resort area. -1 beach service does not exist, there are some sun-beds and a small shelter that make you feel in a shanty town -1 food is ok but almost same menu every meal, day or night, where main course is always pasta. The exception was Tuesday night were was offered a farewell dinner to the Italians and the rest of guests where allowed to come in. -1 all activities were made for Italians, spoken language and written messages were in Italian. Guests and staff avoid you if you are not Italian. -1 Very loud and annoying music at the pool during all day. Odd things in this place * All inclusive system does not included everything you must check a menu to check what is included. * Bottle of water must be paid, only way to get water "for free" is by glass at the bar. * Piano bar has no piano and it is not a bar, actually is a corner cafeteria where at night a staff lady poorly sings some karaoke music * Italian guests many times are rude with other guests, as well as blocking facilities even not using them. Final comment Local people in Cape Verde is usually very kind and friendly but not in this resort. I had the opportunity to have a reserved conversation with a employee and he confirmed that the employees must follow a management orientation to only be kind and friendly with Italians, with other guests they must keep the conversation at minimum.

Gratitude for the welcome, I salute the tireless dedication to work and excellence in service, Mr. Dominique. Air-conditioned and comfortable bungalow. Good location, clean, well-kept green spaces, safe and quiet. Wide gastronomic offer in quantity, variety and quality of fruit, meat, fish, soups, pastas, salads, pastries, charcuterie, bakery. Update scheduled for 2024! It is important to invest in modernizing this hotel infrastructure, being at the forefront and offering innovative experiences that surprise customers. Lifeguard Mr. Stênio's professional performance was remarkable. He revealed commitment, attitude, dedication, empathy in an emergency situation on the beach. Feedback: Suggestion for improvement “Community” shadows on the beach and pool inhibit privacy, noise and uncontrolled smoking. Speed and internet access Monotonous repetitive animation lack of dynamic creativity, outdated youth is embarrassing. Connection to the Santa Maria seafront promenade. Polyester beach access walkway (recyclable)♿️ Experience provides more knowledge.

Lovely experience, location is great, beach and sea are phenomenal. People are attentive and helpful, always smiling. Pros: - great food, mostly italian, but diversified - always clean, staff is attentive - a lot of sporting activities available, we especially enjoyed tennis court - bartenders are good - animators create a nice atmosphere, without being too intrusive - room size is good, shower is large enough Cons: - is a bit dated, but it didn't bother us - mattresses are a bit too soft, but that's subjective Overall: very nice experience, would come like to return.

Simple bungalows in a resort located right on the beach. About 20 minutes by foot to the center of Santa Maria. Around palm trees, trees and flowers. Housekeeping and clean towels every day. All inclusive with a wide selection of food, including fruit and vegetables. In addition to the restaurant, there is a snack bar, a lobby bar and a pool bar, alcoholic drinks throughout the day. Salt water pool with a depth of 30 cm to 1.2 m. The wonderful Santa Maria beach with golden sand and a gentle entrance to the water is very close by. Deckchairs and a shelter with shade available on the beach. Very pleasant and helpful staff.

Friendly staff, cleaness, but "all inclusive" program is not really all inclusive. In the evening u have your own terrace, but cannot take there wine or even water from the restaurant. U need to buy 1l water for 2 euros. Another issue is that beach which is not private. While on the beach, few strangers (sellers) are watching you, so u are on the beach looking to the sea, but in front of you (sea view) are sellers which wants to sell u some items.

It's a great resort, friendly staff, does speak English. Food is excellent and a lot of choices. Houses are clean with airco. Daily cleaned. A little bit noisy when people speak loud. Programs are mainly in Italian. All in all, we did enjoyed our stay there and is highly recommended.

We have experienced a great tour with Carlos a local guide who approached us as we went down to to beach. He is very professional with a comfortable car compared to the local standards. We spent 25 euros for a 4 1/2 hours tour. We visited the main attractions of the Ireland. Highly recommended and good value for money.
