Doesn't seem to work as a tea house anymore.. There's a friendly guy living in this house with a cat, he didn't offer any tea though :) Maybe I'm just not getting it.

Highly reccommend trekking there. We took a taxi more or less to the top of the mountain and went down by foot. We also went by foot back to Mindelo (1 hour long trek), but half of the time it's just going by the side of the road, however later you really experience the suburbs of Mindelo. If it is your cup of tea - do not forget to take a number of your taxi driver, who will be more than glad to pick you up again. Just be advised, that at the very top of the mountain there are several military guards with guns guarding some buildings, but we did not encounter any problems.

Fantastic views of Mindelo, the bay, and Baia Das Gatas! Would highly recommend taking the time to do this hike, or at least take a taxi to the top!

Monte Verde is cool place to visit to see the Panama of the island. Hang out at the mountain top garden with guy who created it. He also sells local grog in different flavors and colors. Very cool!
