A really great campsite. Lots of space for pitching so you dont feel ontop of your neighbours like many other sites. There is no shade though but for us that wasn't too bad. I can imagine in August though...... Nice clean toilets and shower facilities. The best thing by far though is Gianfranco, he runs a brilliant shuttle into and back from the city and he spends time giving you all the best local knowledge for seeing the things you need to, including the best ice cream shop!!! He also knows the most amazing spot to see matera from the other side of the gorge and to watch it come to life as night falls. Stunning. The staff at the site couldn't be more helpful and saved the day when our van battery died and they helped us get started again. I highly recommend this place.

This camper area has to be the best I have ever visited in many years of exploring Europe. There is endless space on splendid grass for clients, more than you could ever wish for in a camp site. Gianfranco speaks excellent English and will take time and trouble to give you all the information you need to make your stay in Matera totally troublefree. He personally provides a taxi service included in the price to take you into the centre and bring you back at the end of explorations. His sister Anna is also present to assist. Hot showers that really work, a luxury indeed, a cool local beer on the terrace, a broken windscreen wiper rapidly changed, a booking for a superb restaurant where the locals eat, nothing is too much trouble for a man who is passionate about his work and his city. Then Francesco is available as a highly qualified guide (geologist, archeologist and a charismatic racconteur). He accompanied us at sunset on the uplands to see Matera as an amazing backdrop: an unforgettable walk which our dog enjoyed as much as we did. Highly recommended, don't miss this place. Thank you for an amazing experience ❤️

Nice Campground. Very close to Matera with interesting ruins and a spectacular canyon to explore right across the street. Our host was the best you could wish for. Jon Franco was always there to help, he gave us all the information we could take in about the area and city, and was always quick with a joke. Very nice time. From the planned stopover for a night or two, we wound up staying over a week. Highly recommended!!

GianFranco and his wonderful family have created an idyllic haven in the stunning Matera region of Italy. Their hospitality is second to none, with warm and welcoming smiles greeting you from the moment you arrive. Their passion for the area shines through, as they offer expert advice on the best places to visit in Matera and even provide free shuttles into the city. It's clear that they take great pride in ensuring their guests have the best possible experience. The campsite reflects GianFranco's attention to detail, with immaculately clean toilets and showers with hot water - a true luxury when camping! The site has ample parking for motorhomes and all the amenities you could need, including the option to purchase GianFranco's own homemade bread, coffee, wine, and olive oil - all of which are absolutely delicious! The setting is breathtaking - surrounded by the stunning Matera countryside, the campsite is the perfect base for exploring the city's rich history and culture. I can only repeat in my own words what all of these good reviews are saying. The reason you should come to this cleverly adapted site is to see Matera. Gianfranco makes sure you get the best possible experience of this magical city. He tells you everything you need to know in four different languages. The shuttle bus service is just what you need and he does everything from his heart to make sure everything runs well. We were with our two little dogs, he gave us a good spot with shade and nothing was too much trouble. Gianfranco and the team exude infectious good positive energy, absolute kindness and huge amounts of enthusiasm ensuring you have an unforgettable Matera experience. You will not go wrong with this site and these exceptional people. Gianfranco Grazie from my heart.

A great place to base yourself if you have a campervan or caravan. Limited toilets and showers but very friendly and they offer a wonderful shuttle service into the old town several times a day... they also give you a good briefing on what to see and do whilst there. Offer coffee and bar service and bread, cornetto orders.... fantastic.

Touring Italy from north to south and back again in our VW camper we came across this amazing campsite which was a real highlight of our road trip. The owner/manager Gianfranco was absolutely charming … spoke excellent English and a great sense of humour. He gave us a map of Matera town and marked all the best places to see and also the best places to enjoy delicious ice cream and a restaurant serving amazing local pasta dishes with local red wine. He also offers a return mini bus service from the campsite into the edge of the old town … we arrived just in time for the evening drive into town! All included in the price of camping!! 30 Euros!! On our return my husband asked about watching football and so Gianfranco set up a TV on the terrace and also opened some local white wine which we shared with some fellow Austrian campers. The small shower and loo facilities were immaculately clean. It was such fun to park and stay on a ex go Kart track and to wake up with lovely views of the surrounding countryside. Wild flowers growing in the grass and fragrant jasmine on the terrace. We cannot recommend this site enough if you are wanting to visit Matera! Thank you SO much Gianfranco! 👍👏😀

I can only repeat what is already written here, a perfect place to stay whilst visiting Matera and Gianfranco is an exceptional person, he even insisted on washing my bicycle! Matera is a must-see place for everyone and the Kartodromo is the best place to stay.

We can’t recommend this place enough+++ It will stay in our hearts forever. We came to Gianfranco by accident when our camper broke town and we had to repair it with the help of his friend. He is a mechanic and knows a lot about cars and knows how to repair them in his garage on the property. We were so lucky that we ended up there. The minute you arrive there you feel so welcomed and at home. The place is super clean, everything is there you might need (small shop, hot shower, clean toilet, electricity…). It is super quiet and on of the best things is that Gianfranco offers a free shuttle service to the city center and can help you with a lot of things. We can’t say thank you enough to this great personality!!! Highly recommended +++++

Great space, very friendly and helpful staff. Facilities pristine and included toilet paper!! The free return shuttle bus into Matera was a bonus together with the brilliant advice to guide us around the town. Fresh warm bread the next morning - we highly recommend this camping area. Thank you Gianfranco! Loved staying last night, we arrived late and you still spent time to guide us then took us into Matera. Your so proud (rightly so) of Metera. Site was spacious and we had so shade. The children were pleased to see toilet roll in the facilities too! We’ll be back!

Wow what a great experience at this campsite. The hosts were exceptional in helping us get around Matera. They offer a shuttle service to town and even took us to the view point when I wanted to hike into Matera. So friendly, when visiting Matera you have to stop here. Best time ever. Grazie mill!!

Quirky campsite with charming hosts Gianfranco and his sister. Ex go-karting site with plenty of space for parking. Limited sanitary facilities but very clean. Gianfranco runs a shuttle service into Matera at regular 'Italian' intervals. His knowledge of the area is excellent. Highly recommended.

This place is run by just the friendliest brother-sister duo you can find. They are super helpful, give great tips (yes that sunset wás one of the most amazing views we had ever seen), and keep the place spotless. The shuttle service is very useful too. Thanks for all the hard work!
