This place is a lovely experience. As Accor Diamond members we did not receive an upgrade but got accommodated in the best room in the category and it was fine. The room was small but well appointed with a lovely terrace which is a lifesaver in nice weather. All the staff in the hotel are outstanding. This is hotel number 4 on ours French road trip and in clearly stands out in every respect. One piece of advice, they should introduce vegetarian tasting menu in their restaurant.

Staying at the hotel was a wonderful experience but there is limited resources to leave the walls of the city. The restaurant and stores inside the walls are all that’s available because it’s hard to get outside and back inside the city walls. The taxi service is so limited that we were lucky to have a taxi come back for us after taking another passenger from the train station. We waited over 40 minutes. We had asked the front desk to provide transportation prior to our arrival and were told to wait for a taxi. Once getting a taxi you must wait with your luggage outside the city walls to be shuttled up to the hotel. Our experience in the hotel itself was lovely. They were very accommodating. The meals are delicious! Breakfast has many options. We would have liked to have visited Carcasonne and experienced what the city had to offer. Our advice hire a private car if you can or have your own car. There is no Bolt, Blacklane, or other car service that we could find. Be prepared to just wait.

Unbelievable, we booked 2 nights here for July 22, reserved the previous October 21. Flights booked, intermediate travel bookings mad3, all prepared. Then, after having made the booking 6 months earlier the hotel phoned to cancel the booking in favour of someone else who had booked the whole hotel! We won't be the only people let down for sure. We were offered alternative accommodation at their second rate ugly sister hotel but am so disappointed I've cancelled the entire trip. Wrote to senior management and no surprise, no reply. I recommend that you don't book here as you have no idea if they will honour your reservation.

We had the most wonderful 12th wedding anniversary here, the staff looked after us well and the service overall was impeccable. The location is within the castle walls, so when the majority of tourists head home in the evening you get to walk to medieval streets in peace and soak in the atmosphere. The pool is a refreshing haven away from the bustling city and heat, and what better than a glass of Limoux in the sunshine. Highly recommend.

Such a unique property and location. You have to park outside the castle walls in the designated hotel parking and then you can walk 5 mins or get a lift up to the hotel. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The room was spacious, but the steps could use a bit of repairs. I was worried it would be noisy since we were on the ground level by reception and the outdoor bar, but we didn’t hear a thing.

What an awesome location for a hotel, and the restaurant inside is simply amazing. The cheese cart was unmatched. Only little weird thing is actually having to park in an off-site lot and have them shuttle you to the hotel inside the castle walls. It was a fun ride though! Rooms feel a bit dated, but to be expected of most castle hotels. Service and staff was great. Very fun to walk around the walled city at night and then head straight to bed. I’d stay here again for sure!

We had the most wonderful stay at Hotel de la Citie Carcassonne. Myself and my husband spent two nights as part of our honeymoon. The hotel is housed in such an iconic location of the castle but the hotel itself is absolutely beautiful. The staff were wonderful and made our stay so special, they had decorated our room and it was just such a nice touch. The hotel itself was stunning, the food, the drinks selection was all wonderful, it is expensive but worth every penny. We plan to go back every year for our anniversary and we cannot thank the hotel enough for all they did for us to make our stay extra special

The thread count on the sheets must have been infinity. I moved on the bed like a frictionless surface, like a puck on an air hockey table. Best hotel stay of my life. Friendliest staff I've ever encountered. Deepest bathtub I've ever bathed in. Best breakfast I've ever eaten. A church bell will clang you awake at 0700. Be thankful. Sleep another time.

Totally unprofessional!! I made a reservation at the La Barbacane for dinner on Easter and they called me back a few hours from the time of dinner to tell me that they made a error and had no reservations available. I've never been to MICHELIN star restaurant where this kind of error is made. In fact, I've never been to any restaurant where this kind of error is made.

Terrible hotel, unbelievable had lost my booking, offered me a second rate alternative. Very embarrassing for them. The options were so poor. Worst customer service ever. Never again. Avoid at all cost.

The service was strange. No one welcomed us at the entrance. In fact no body was in the whole area, we had to search for someone to serve us. The waiter was quite rude. He made a face when we said we want only 1 cappuccino. He brought the receipt before receiving our order which was strange. The cappuccino was brought after quite a while of waiting. The place was hot…unconditioned at at. The place look special and pretty, but the service needs a lot of improvement to be on the level of 5 stars.

No, you can t be a spa hotel but not have spa facilities available. After a day of driving we had high hopes and we spent good money, only to be told that the spa is fully booked, we stayed one night and we called in the morning to book the spa (weird a spa hotel needs to have spa bookings) but there was no good will towards us, which one does not expect from a 5 star hotel. Other positive aspects were shadowed by this.

Amazing experience at this hotel. Incredibly friendly and knowledgeable staff, impeccable service, perfect location to explore the old town. We stayed in the old cigar room where apparently Churchill loved to hang out. The restaurant offers excellent fine dining and the breakfast buffet is very good too. Only downside is that they start to take down the buffet very early so make sure you don’t arrive late. We were here in the offseason but we’d imagine it can be quite crowded to the point were it is annoying during the summer months.

This hotel is simply magical! Stayed for my birthday and felt like a princess. The Junior suite was beautiful with its own private garden and the biggest bath tub ever! The Michelin starred dinner was a beautiful experience & delicious, the staff out did themselves. The bar staff were not as good and I ended up with my drink in my lap and the main areas in the hotel are cold to relax in so wrap up! Overall we loved our stay & would recommend to all.

Beautiful spot. We wanted breakfast but we were too late. We asked if we could get a cappuccino and soak in the ambiance, but were told that it was "reserved for a private group" (there was nobody there).

From our arrival all the way until our departure, we were treated like royalty. The service and attention to detail are unmatched. Also, the location is by far the best in Carcassone, not only inside the walled city but also inside the castle. Absolutely beautiful hotel and experience.

The hotel had been on our wish list for a very long time, and it exceeded our expectations. Every member of staff was charming and helpful and service impeccable. The garden was a delightful place to sit for an afternoon. Our one regret was that we were not staying for a week to enable us to try everything that we wanted from the outstanding breakfast buffet. Every item we tried was first class.

We planned to have our cocktail wedding on the hotel's patio terrace about a little over a year ago before our wedding date. We had asked if it was available for the specific date we wanted and had confirmed yes. Later on we find out about 4-5 months later that there would be another wedding that same day. We talked to them on making sure it would all be on different timings, which was fixed. The horrible part is they promised us that we would have the view of patio overlooking the castle for picture, but instead they placed us in a hidden corner where we didn't have the views of the castle. We are very disappointed, because we were sold for something that ended up to be in another different place. Beware if you are planning on having a special event here, because it seems the director of the hotel favors over the people he is close friends with.

Charming and lovely hotel with a beautiful garden and amazing views. Very helpful and caring management team. You have to try their restaurant, outstanding service and delicious food. I did a road trip in France and stayed in many hotels but this was the highlight. On another note, i have forgotten an important document in the hotel and i can't thank enough the staff for their patience and tremendous help with getting hold of it. I totally reccomend this superb place!

If you're looking to visit Carcassonne, stay at this hotel. Fantastic location with breathtaking views of the city walls and towers. Truly like living in a fairy tale.

The most beautiful hotel inside the city. The castle and the green areas in and around the property are just to die for. The service is in parallel and the food is delicious. If you ever want to come to this lovely city, you should stay at this hotel. Like a dream.

Perfection. Beautiful hotel and rooms. Food is good but service is just OK. There is a small language barrier in tje south of France as compared to larger cities. Other than that no complaints.

I must admit i am absolutely baffled by the recent reviews. In france and Italy you sometimes wonder how the hotel got the 5 stars and this one is one of them. Yes you are in the middle of the medieval city and yes you are close to the castle but you cant escape the old, damp and seriously outdated room, which feels like they were build in the middle age as well! You can’t reasonably tell me the restaurant is worth the 200 euros per head you pay for the food you are served, which lack innovation and most of all taste. Fair enough the staff does its utmost to help you and the valet parking who has to ferry you back and forth to get your car is truly doing their best. Breakfast is also very decent and offer a large selection of food but the rooms are not worth the price. Better sleep outside the wall and come to visit. Special mention to the restaurant Chez Christine next to the hotel, which has a lovely terrace and great food at the very affordable price. Wish we knew that before our dinner…. If you still decide to stay you know what to expect.

Epic place to watch the sunset from. The patio is really nice. No idea what the policy on non guests is but I just mosyed on in. Maybe you can get something at the bar to do it by the rules 🤷

A wonderful hotel in a wonderful location. Our room was amazing with the best outdoor space we’ve ever had from a hotel. The terrace had stunning views both throughout the day and particularly as the sun set. The bed was extremely comfortable with perfect pillows. The only improvement that could have been made for me, would be some biscuits to go with the tea/coffee available in the room. We had an amazing dining experience one evening. The food and accompanying wine flight were excellent served outdoors on the terrace, on a warm evening, whilst we listened to a beautiful live singer. Two of the waiters stood out providing excellent service. Thank you Léopold and Odi. Altogether a great break in a fabulous place.

This hotel has an amazing location which seems to include some of the ancient city walls. Our room was characterized by somewhat faded grandeur. The appointments are definitely in the grand French hotel style but a little worn. The service by the young staff could not have been better. They are energetic and committed to taking care of you. This was a wonderful experience for us in a charming location.
