I was really lucky to walk in and manage to get a table without booking. It was pretty packed when I left. I was given a table by the kitchen area where I could see the live view of the chefs cooking our dishes. The restaurant is based in a chapel converted. Really feeling the coziness in the restaurant and romantic for sure in the evening. Food was superb. really enjoyed the scallop pork belly starter although I could see the dish was served in different presentation for other tables - guess the head chef is trying to get the best presentation of that dish. The steak was alright, really rich sauce to go well with the steak. The lamb was lovely cooked, juicy and tender medium rare 😋. Didn’t go with dessert as I was full but my overall experience here was fantastic!! Please do book this place for any celebration or romantic dinner.

Pub & Restaurant created inside gothic Chapel? 🍻💒Sounds intriguing! And it is! Just been on drinks and besides that choice wasn't satisfying at all but want to back one day to try food

A true gem restaurant in Cardiff!! Beautiful venue with huge history transferred into amazing restaurant. Made a booking with my partner to celebrate our anniversary while visiting Cardiff. Couldn’t choose better!! Welcoming staff, great service and delicious food, congrats to all team! Truly impressive experience, massive thank you to all Chapel team, looking forward to our next visit ❤️ highly recommended for a date night or even night out with friends as they have DJs/ house music in late hours so you can enjoy weekend vibes and have some fun after amazing dinner 😊 cheers!

Went for lunch in one if the booths. Best to book ad it can be busy and only got 3 booths as well! Refit very tastefully done with most of the original features as well. Good selection on the menu and wine. Everything is done very well. You are looked after by the staff room start to finish. In the city centre at the bottom of Churchill Way. Very easy to get to and only a couple of mins walk to the St David 2 shopping centre. Well worth a visit. This was our first time for a Birthday treat. Will be going again soon.

The restaurant preserves the structure of a old Chapel, which gives it a unique atmosphere, with many cozy corners and large interior balconies. The food was excellent in its taste and presentation. The attention was outstanding from the very beginning to the end. Definitely a place to share a romantic dinner or with friends. Located in the center of Cardiff. It is absolutely a "must visit".

The venue itself is really nice, and has a really nice atmosphere. I went there and ordered the steak so I immediately began to compare it to Miller and Carter as they are essentially the same price. Honestly, it was nice, but I've never left M&C feeling like it wasn't worth the money, but this time I did. The meal was pretty bare bones, and although the steak was cooked well, it was pretty fatty and I had to cut around a lot of it (didnt get to chose the cut, it was rib eye or '8oz' on pre order, i went for the mystery meat). I also ordered the same comparable wine and it was more expensive, at £9 for a large glass. Don't get me wrong, it is a really nice place, I just found it overpriced for what it was.

Beautiful building unfortunately now a bar restaurant 😕 was rather disorganised. Quite expensive too with 15% compulsory service charge added. Wouldn't visit again

My wife and I booked the Chapel as we wanted to treat our parents to a special meal. We wanted a restaurant that would deliver excellent food and to be well looked after. The food was really very good, however the service was pretty poor. Our drinks did not arrive til after we had finished our starters, even tap water, and we have to chase our orders multiple times. The main door downstairs was left continually open causing a cold draft while we were sat, which wasn't dealt with when raised. The waiting staff were friendly but clearly overwhelmed and understaffed. The manager was nowhere to be seen, and left his staff struggling. He did not check on our table once which I thought was disappointing and even other guests were asking staff for the manager, as he was not around. I did not want to ruin a nice night by raising a complaint at the time, but for the cost I would have expected a higher calibre of service and care. I also was surprised not to have received a request for feedback from the restaurant direct. Its a shame as I have received much better service from an Italian chain at a tenth of the price of this meal. I hope that the Chapel can sort these issues out, I wouldn't be in any rush to return based on this experience and wouldn't recommend to others

I had the privilege to be invited to a exclusive menu tasting for their new autumn/winter menu which has just launch . As soon as I got their there was cocktail on arrival and the guests and myself were taken to our seats .The service and food was top quality something out of a Michelin restaurant .if you are planning to go anywhere for fine dining try this place first above any other first.🙌🏾👍🏾

Myself and my partner were visiting for my birthday weekend and came to this lovely restaurant for dinner while staying at the ibis hotel across the road. We had a drink in the bar downstairs before dinner. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and we were seated quickly in a private booth upstairs. The tables were all laid beautifully and it is very classy and quiet. You are able to see the kitchen from the restaurant as it is open to watch the talented chefs cook your meal. The food was incredible and the service was amazing. I will definitely visit again next time I'm in the area!

I had a rump steak in the bar/lounge area. Great quality for the cost and nicely cooked to my order of medium rare. The restaurant offers a more formal dining experience but the bar menu offers standard gastro pub fare at a reasonable cost in a relaxed atmosphere.

Came here to try a higher class of dining on a student budget, so booked and ordered from the bar menu. Was quite busy with people coming and going mainly for a drink (Monday night). Staff were friendly enough, although there was no drinks menu which made ordering at the bar quite awkward. Food came quickly, and tasted great, but was maybe a smaller portion than I would have liked for the money - probably due to the level of cooking in fairness... Some slight confusion (that came across as reluctance) when using a voucher code, but overall really lovely food with decent service and a ln interesting location.

The most horrible customer service of my life and trying to blame me for it as well for sitting us down 45 minutes late when I warned you 15 minutes in. Thanks for leaving me hungry, without a refund for my drink as a minimum plus ruining our catch up with my friend (that I have not seen for two years) and on her actual birthday. NEVER AGAIN!!! PS - if you are planning to respond with more excuses, I am not planning to waste another second on you and my friends will be able to back our horrible experience.

This restaurant did not meet the expectations that the people in our booking had. The restaurant had our pre-orders wrong and were very rude when confronted about it (apart from one of them who was very apologetic) The waitors brought our food, which was Luke warm-cold and also Brought our sides for the meal around 10 minutes later. 3 people did not get their meals until around 20 minutes later. As a result of the bad service we had our whole food bill cleared, which is good but it shouldn't have come to that point where the business had to compensate for their performance, leaving their business with a loss of profit. It's unfortunate that the service was this terrible. A great service with the nice atmosphere of the restaurant would have been lovely. I'm leaving this review as constructive criticism for the team to improve their service and maybe consider implementing better strategies and evaluate staff performance to deliver that service which is expected. Perhaps we caught the staff on a bad night but I hope this review is taken as a way forward to improve and reflect on the evening. Best wishes.

We thought we'd try out Sunday lunch, as I'd seen it on the Internet and thought it would be a wonderful setting for our wedding. But unfortunately first impressions last and the impression we got was not acceptable. We had to stand and wait until someone even spoke to us, even though the waiting staff knew we were standing there. There were only 2 vegetarian starters on offer, but for mains there were more. We are both carnivores, so we decided to have extras with the main course instead. The mains were nice, but unfortunately not very warm, I even had to take the jus back because it was warm at best. The veg was exactly the same but luckily the meat and piggies were hot. We did enjoy our meal, but it's quite disgusting when you have an open kitchen and the chef is rubbing back his hair, he did wash his hands after, but wear a hat! Overall we found the staff mediocre, and the food would have been nice had it been hot, but we won't be back, as not one person asked if we enjoyed our meal!

We visited Chapel St restaurant & bar on Friday evening. We loved the food, cocktails are by far the best we’ve had locally. Lots of gluten free options for myself and the staff were lovely and attentive. Would definitely recommend!

Very scrumptious food but not alot of choice, especially for vegetarians . Also, when I booked online, the reservation wasn't shown on their system . They did however accommodate us. The setting of the Chapel was very nice and unique. Excellent chef!

Late lunch with friends, the service was excellent, the food delicious and the staff friendly and professional. A grandiose environment that still manages to feel intimate and accommodating. Well done and thank you for a great lunch!

From walking through the door in to this impressive building you are greeted with a warm welcoming smile. We were early for our meal, so we were seated in the bar area to enjoy a drink whilst waiting to go upstairs to our table. All the staff are so friendly and happy! The food was absolutely divine. It was so enjoyable each course left you wanting more! If your in the area, please try it for yourself.

An opulent setting for this the most special time of the year. To all those uninitiated in the Chapel ways, visit and enjoy.

Lovely building & unusual, atmospheric setting for a restaurant. Good menu & wine choices. Unfortunately, there was confusion that caused our order to be forgotten. However, the problem was handled professionally by the helpful & friendly staff, so our dining experience wasn't spoiled. The food was tasty & reasonable value, though I wouldn't describe it as fine dining.

From cocktails to food, one of the great spots in Cardiff that should be part of your experience. Very fun for a group of friends or something special for someone you love. Ask to have dinner in one of the original chapel confessionals.

The place is amazing, you can feel the history and sort of "mysyery" in every single corner. The food itself is one of the best I've eaten so far in UK. The Chapel will take u in the journey full of excitement straight to haven.
