Ordered two cocktails at the bar and were pre warned that they would come in plastic cups which was perfectly fine; however, the woman who I assumed was a manager then came over and said the girl shouldn’t have sold them to us because she wouldn’t pay £7 for a cocktail in a plastic cup. She then gave the bar girl a row and made her cry which was completely unnecessary, poor management if I want to drink a cocktail from a plastic cup I will. So sorry to the girl at the bar because she was lovely, left because of her manager or supervisor.

First time visiting cardiff and couldn’t have had a better experience! Stopped in for a drink on a walk and it did not disappoint. Robbie behind the bar couldn’t have been more helpful and pleasant with helping my partner and I choose drinks and made the day a lot better. He was chatty and very fun to talk to. Atmosphere was brilliant and felt very welcoming. Will definitely be coming back on our next visit!!

Having visited this venue Friday night, I somehow lost my wedding ring whilst out with my wife... many frantic phone calls saturday morning seemed fruitless and I gave up.but Sunday morning I had a call off the general manager Joshua clegg and to my amazement he said that have now found my ring. This is excellent customer service and I want yo thank the manager personally for his help.

Amazing service from georgi!!! He made sure we had everything we needed when ordering food and was such a lovely individual. Food & cocktails was amazing (especially the strawberry daiquiri) and all bar staff were so lovely. Couldn’t fault them at all!!

Absolutely love this place. Great atmosphere, cheap cocktails (that taste great too), amazing food (I only had the Drunken Mushrooms and Fries). The service is great too. I ordered fish and chips on the O'Neill's app, but a staff member informed me that the kitchen had closed and offered to go to the chip shop across the road and by me fish and chips from there as a replacement. That kind of gesture is what separates O'Neill's from most chain pubs. Would highly recommend.

This was a lovely pub to go drinking at, with a gloriously lit counter decorated by barrels and the Welsh flag! I enjoyed a bottle of Corona Extra at a reasonable price, sitting comfortable next to one of the pub's entertaining slogans. The staff were friendly and so was the atmosphere overall with the other people in there; it was kept clean too!

Lovely pubbly. Great place to have a cheeky one. Good atmosphere and friendly staff, served by a top geezer called Robbie who was polite and looked after me n the lads. Will come again.

I stopped off for a swift half after my daily bike ride. The atmosphere was pleasant and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. A special mention to a barman named Robbie. He was great conversation and made me feel welcome. Would definitely come back again

(22/10/22) Popped in earlier on for a drink. Prices are reasonable and served pretty quick, perfect for killing time or having a few with mates. The staff are extremely friendly, I was served by a lovely person. Don’t know her name but she had straight short dark hair and glasses with dark-ish makeup. Solid pub, would recommend to anyone needing a place to have some quality time with mates or just to watch the footy.

We had smothered chicken breast from the food menu which consisted of 2 small thin breasts that were over cooked and dry . The sauce itself was nice and the chips were good. I've given 3 stars on the fact that it might be a one off as I haven't tried the rest of the menu. I'm afraid I won't be visiting again for food, but the Pub itself has a good atmosphere.

Always good food. Had the fish and chips X 2 . Was brilliant value , with two pints for £18. Fish was great with beautiful crisp but light batter. Great size too , chips were great also. Five star

I recently visited O'Neills sports bar and had a fantastic experience. The atmosphere was lively and energetic, with a great selection of drinks and food. The staff, particularly Tom P, were incredibly helpful and friendly. They went above and beyond to make sure our group had a great time.

First time in Cardiff yesterday and whilst waiting to go to the arena, I stumbled across this bar to kill some time, I have to say what a lovely experience I had in there. It was a very lovely setting and the live entertainment they had was brilliant in my opinion, It definatly started my day off in a brilliant way. If ever I'm in Cardiff again I will definatly be going back to O'Neil's. Hopefully the same band will be playing even though I have no idea who they were 🤣 Thank you for a great experience

Came in here for a quote bite to eat and drink. Staff were friendly, selection was good and the food was decent. Decor could do with a bit of a refresh but decent value for money.

Came on a visit here recently with my partner. The food and the drinks were lovely. I want to give a special mention to the lovely staff named Amanda. Our cocktails were absolutely delicious. She was so polite, professional and efficient. She went above and beyond to help and make sure our visit was one of the best ever. Had a big smile on our faces when we left and all thanks to her. Would 100% come again and that’s all thanks to Amanda.

Used to be a great pub, lots of live music etc but now it's mostly music played extremely LOUDLY and you have to shout to have a conversation! Good selection of beers though and good location amongst all the bars on St. Mary Street.

Popped in on my way home from the Cinema, I must say Avatar 2 was well worth the watch. Can’t say I tried the food, but the pie looked lovey and I’ve heard very good things about the pizza. Top service from Tom P! Keep practicing those shamrocks!

Yummy food and great staff! We stopped in for a ‘light’ lunch but the serves were actually huge. The food was really fresh, tasty and great value. I had a whole food bowl and my partner had fish & chips. Luckily we ignored the previous negative review.. I would definitely return here when I’m back in Cardiff.

Great pub. Served by a tall handsome lad wearing glasses, really made us feel welcome. He made us laugh by putting a teabag on his colleagues head. The herbivore burger was top notch. Will definitely return.

My visit to O’Neill tonight was exceptional the service I received off of a member of staff called Amanda was above and beyond polite and helpful. Because of this member of staff I will be coming back. Plus the food I had was exceptionally delicious and prepared magnificent.

Tried to discuss with the DJ when the dancefloor was empty what would maybe be good tracks to play. With about 10 people on the dance floor he mentioned he had a list he has to stick to. I said I understood but he threatened to get me kicked out because I recommended certain songs to get the dance floor going and suggested his manner was quite rude... Would avoid.

We went to the restaurant to have breakfast. We were not expecting any good breakfast, nevertheless it was very good quality english breakfast. We had a full-english breakfast with a Madri beer! We enjoyed that a lot. The place was clean and organised - It was during an off-peak time zone. I do recommend people having an english breakfast here

Managed to pop in during happy hour - was fairly quiet but good for a wind down all the same. Good value for Madri at £3:20 a pint 👍

Very nice pub. Haven't been in before as I always thought it would have been a little shoddy inside but actually, it's a very nice bar, modern and have a great selection of drinks.

Went on a Thursday night, had some amazing food, lovely solo acoustic live music from about 8 onwards, really good vibes, will definitely come again in the future

Wonderfull staff, great feel and atmosphere - highly recommend went after the rugby and was an amazing time !! (also left my wallet and they very very kindly posted it back to me !!)

Enjoyed a few hours here with friends last night. The door staff were chatty and welcoming, explained the track and trace system and showed us to our table. The app for ordering drinks was simple to use and the turnaround time was quick. It was strange to see a bar, in the city, on a Friday night not crammed full of people but it was clearly exceptionally well managed and I hope when restrictions are lifted, their business returns to normal.

Great atmosphere with music. Staff were very accommodating. Would recommend downloading their app and booking a table prior to going.

Don't advise it on match days, absolutely rammed.... Not their fault, looks like a decent bar normal times, good selection of beers etc.

Lots of staff to serve and friendly. Very comfortable environment with great ambiance. Food was hot and served quickly. A lot of alcohol choice and a lot on tap. Definitely will be visiting again!

Had our first drink in ONeills since coming out of the lockdowns. What a disappointment. Quiet Monday evening but it felt like the staff couldn't be bothered. Having to wait whilst the chatted or stacked shelves. What happened to customer first. Then to find staff hiding in stairwells texting. Finally to be served a pint then told to drink up ten minutes later and it's only 10:30. Will not be visiting again.with regards to the reply please advise who and on what number I contact?

Came into O’Neill’s for a few drinks with some friends one evening, and we were warmly welcomed by all the staff. Ended up staying longer than expected and even had a couple small plates to share. Ciara took our order and was attentive all evening! Would highly recommend.

I went out for a meal with my work team for our works due and i was so disappointed about it, starter was okay I was the first one to have it because I have a gluten allergy however my main was last because they had to cook everyone’s food first and then clean everything and then cook mine which should be the other way round! I work in hospitality and that’s how we do it 🙁 lastly I ordered a dessert and there was plastic in there was not happy! The manager did ask if I wanted a drink but to that point I just wanted to go home. The main meal wasn’t nice chicken was over cooked and I got a small reaction from it and I didn’t feel too good

I reserved a table in advance, but that was clearly news to O'Neills. I tried calling twice to explain that my friend was running slightly late, and that I had to go and meet her before walking a short distance to the bar. There was no answer. I went into the bar at the time of the reservation to explain to the barman, who said it was fine. I arrived back at the bar 13 minutes later, and every single table was occupied. Edit: Barpeople are capable of relaying messages to their management when necessary. I arrived at the precise time of the reservation to explain. I did indeed admit that my friend was running slightly late, as honesty is important when leaving reviews. Thanks for the itemised and sassy reply. I was just being factual myself.

First time visiting here yesterday as we have always gone to The Yard across the road. I have to say it is a big improvement. The last time we were in The Yard for an international game it took 40 minutes to get served, in O'Neills it took 40 seconds!! Very impressed and will certainly be back.

Went upstairs in 2nd floor for match day, loads of people on bar waiting to be served but ended up getting good service by man in a blue shirt with a moustache gotee and an young Irish man who looked to be enjoying themselves. Prices bit high but match day expected tbh- will be back again for some more pints

Spend a day on this bar on tour for the Rugby. All the lads had a great time. Nice staff and good atmosphere.

The actual place is pleasant. They had a great live act on. Downsides were the tables were very sticky. We ordered food and when we got our plates the veg was almost raw and the mashed potatoes was made from smash. Home made pizza was good though.

From the doormen to the staff, friendly and inviting. On a weekend outing from Plymouth and we must have stayed 6 hours or so until the football and boxing finished. 👍🍻

Fantastic to get served by such a polite young lady (Emily) during a visit to Cardiff yesterday. We popped in for a quick drink but ended up grabbing some food before heading back out to hit the shops. Lovely place and service, thanks Emily 😊

We came in for a small family celebration and had a great night! Large portion sizes, great selection of beers and our host, Jack, was very helpful. Would recommend for sports fans too!
