Visited for the rugby game Wales v Argentina. Great food and drinks with super quick service. No waiting to be served and staff were fantastic. Great atmosphere and a great part of our day in the city for an international. I will be back.

We went to have a festive meal there, which was booked and paid in advance, and it was probably MY WORST EXPERIENCE in Cardiff. To give you an idea, it's the first time I'm writing a review with less than 3 stars (and believe me when I said I would give 0, but the minimum here is 1 star). First impressions about the place weren't good: the music was incredibly loud there and the light so down. It looked like you were in a discotheque and it was impossible to have a conversation with your friends. There was a moment in which I even couldn't listen to the waitress, saying her "Excuse me, I can't hear you well. Music is really loud". She only said "I know. Sorry", without doing anything else for solving the problem. On another hand, the service was slow as a slug. They really honor the name of the place. We arrived there at our time but they didn't serve our food until over one hour and a half later. The service was so slow that some of the dishes weren't hot when they were served, just a little warm, and those who received their plate should eat quickly and not wait politely for everyone at the table to be served. If you waited a little, your food was completely cold. Some of us had already finished eating when others had not yet been served. But the worse thing was when the staff told us we had to leave the table in 5 minutes because they needed it for another people who booked it. They were extremely slow serving our food but, now, they wanted we rush for leaving when they were still serving the desserts! Finally, they forced us to leave the table, we had to finish our drinks standing and two of us didn't get the desserts (which is so unfair because they also pay £32 for a menu that included just a main dish plus a dessert). One of the people in the group went to speak to the manager about this and his answer was asking him for writing an email. This happened in the first week of December. A month later, he is still waiting for a solution, as he has only received a generic email. Regarding food, honestly, the menu didn't worth the price: £32 for a poorly cooked steak with fries and an ice cream that actually was a simple Magnum lolly ridiculously served on a plate with a flower on the top. Conclusion: Bad atmosphere, improvable food and unacceptable manners to treat diners. We will never back to this place and I will let my friends know about this horrible experience.

Went here for a Christmas meal with my work colleagues. Very disappointed. Despite paying for a 3 course meal only 2 courses were served to us. The 3rd course for some reason just never arrived. On top of that, the music was so loud I had a hard time chatting with my colleagues because I couldn't hear them and I couldn't make myself heard. This was especially frustrating as I hadn't seen some of these colleagues for over 2 years. The next day I had a saw throat from trying to make myself heard. Hopefully management will wise up, give it's customers all of the food that was paid for. And stop thinking that decibels is everything. But they probably won't.

Came in for 21st birthday celebrations and it was so good!! Amy served us for the whole afternoon and she was so kind and sweet to us! Food came so fast and Amy kept up with our drinks. First time visiting and would definitely come again!

One of my favourite places to go. Atmosphere is fab helped by the friendlyand helpful staff. The cocktails are delicious and they have a great range of 241. The food is always very tasty and filing and good value for money. Highly recommend

I'm on a hen weekend and had a cocktail making class and buffet for afters. The staff was lovely especially our host Eve! She made us all feel so welcome and made our experience memorable! The food was lovely and well presented, I definitely recommend coming here 👌

Georgina our waitress was amazing! We had a bottomless brunch and we were never without drinks. Could see she had a lot of other customers to deal with aswell but she always made sure everyone had what they needed. Food was incredible, very delicious. The drinks were nice, although there could be more of a range included in the brunch. But overall a great evening with the best service!

Turned up on a wet and miserable Monday afternoon, just looking for a quick drink and food. The manager was absolutely amazing, we had a wonderful few drinks, food and stayed for hours for the atmosphere and warm welcome we received. Excellent cocktails would definitely recommend.

We enjoyed bottomless brunch at slug and lettuce. Are waiter was Georgina, she was amazing! Very polite and accommodating. Always made sure we were getting our drinks and food. Definitely got our moneys worth 10/10

I visited Cardiff for the weekend and came across this pub. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Food was really good. I will definitely recommend and visit again.

I was visiting Cardiff with friends for our annual jolly boys outing dressed as nuns as you do… I got chatting to one of the managers Natalie or Natasha I think who was an absolute barrel or laughs making us all feel so welcome teaching me Welsh which I just confess I have now forgotten. But we are planning on going back in the summer and will definitely be returning! Top service keep up the smashing work!

Came in last weekend for a bottomless brunch and couldn’t fault the staff and how they dealt with my group. Millie, Rhiannon and Jack made our day! The drinks kept flowing and so did the staffs motive to look after us. Will be looking forward to coming back!

Just got back from a 30th birthday party at the Greyfriars Road branch. Bottomless brunch was well worth it. Food was lovely and plenty of drinks. Georgina and her 2 girls were excellent hosts. Very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Thanks all. Will def be going back.

Visited here last Saturday the 3rd of December at 3.30.. To be honest service was fine most of staff were lovely but the food was awful. Sent out a side of topped chips that had to be sent back as they were rock hard from the cheese sauce that had gone cold so basically had to cut through them. Also the main came out 2 minutes before the starter which was really Strange as this has never happened to me in any other restaurant before so by the time we ate that the main was cold.. they didn't take the deposit off and our friends were over charged for their meals. This table was booked a month in advance mind! Such a shame coz it's a beautiful place...

We had an absolutely fantastic time here celebrating over a bottomless brunch. The cocktails were lovely and the atmosphere was great. Our server, Georgina, was simply fantastic - she was extremely friendly and helpful, and really helped to make our celebration a fun night!

13 of us for brunch (not the bottomless one but breakfast dishes). Age range 18-87 for a get together following our daughter's wedding the day before. We had vegetarians, vegans, gluten freers in the group and all were catered for. The staff were really helpful particularly as we arrived in dribs and drabs. Some went to the other Slug and Lettuce and had to be redirected. Very reasonably priced. When I came to pay the bill I had to check as it was lower than I thought it would be. Only slight 'thing' was their coffee machine was broken so us caffeine addicts had to have tea!!

I found it all extremely odd to be honest. We had booked a table, and when we arrived (to a very quiet bar) we had been given a table in the middle of others near the bar. Perhaps a nicer area might have been good, perhaps near a window (?) seeing that we had booked the day before. It felt like we had just been plonked anywhere. A little bit more thought might have been good. Anyway, we just stayed. A lovely young lady came along and set our table with cutlery, condiments etc. as time went in, we realised that we weren’t my sure if she was coming back to take a drinks order. So, after some time we realised that this was not the case and we went on to order using the app.Not a problem, but seeing that the place was so quiet, it would have been useful to have been told how we were to order. If someone comes to you your table, you assume that they’re going to come back. The food was good, but better communication and a little more thought about the customer experience would have improved the experience.

Went to Slug and Lettuce for a meal with my family. A lovely hostess has greeted us and showed us our table . We have had quick and lovely service from Tom who couldn’t have gone for an extra mile and was really playful with my daughter as well . Food and drinks were quick and delicious! Would definitely return when in Cardiff again and recommend this place for everyone who wants a good experience and a happy daughter !

Lovely food, very clean and friendly staff. Prosecco was nice too. Was my first time visiting and I plan to have my birthday meal here.

Catering staff were very helpful in sorting a head office issue with S&L that would have otherwise left us without a Venue for an event. Nice food and serving staff. There was a long haired security staff member who was rather aggressive in getting elderly men from my party to give ID and snapping at myself as the organiser of the meal for others not having their ID. Other security staff were very nice afterwards. Good meal experience but poor taste left by the treatment on the way in.

Not the best place I've been to recently, we hit it for the cocktail's before the theatre, they were buy one get one free, the reality was, it was one cocktail for £10.00 poured into two glasses, disappointing. We had food the £15.00 platter for two, again not great, it appeared that the oil in the deep fat fryer hasn't been changed in weeks, the food came out a dirty brown colour, instead of golden and crisp. The table's needed cleaning, and the staff were in need of a tidy up as well. Not a great experience, and not one we will be repeating any time soon.

Unfortunately this was not a great experience. Have visited this branch many times with no complaints. This time service not great, food almost inedible. Staff didn’t seem to know the protocol. Telling some people they had to book and others they could just find a table and order without booking. I’d like to say we were the lucky ones to get a table and food!! But we were not!! sadly I will not be visiting again and not recommending to anyone.

Had pre-booked/paid for a 2 course meal here for 13 people and the food and service was awful. We were allocated 2 hours for the table and asked to leave after the 2 hours even though we were still waiting on our deserts! Deserts were quickly brought out after this and tasted as though they had been nuked in the microwave! The cocktails were not nice either as ingredients were missed. Will not be returning here!!

Have always booked for lunch when in Cardiff never had a bad experience food always lovely and decent portoins. However had lunch yesterday portions very small and very poor quality undercooked pasta over cooked chicken..we loved coming just for drinks not sure we will even do that anymore on our trips to Cardiff

Fyi - this is not a negative review. 3 Stars is average if looked at fairly. Everyone these days gives only 5 or 1 star and this wasn't exceptional nor bad. Food wasn't bad and nether was service, but I wasn't blown away either.

Shocking! Really bad afternoon tea, ruined whole experience of 50th birthday celebration. We were given half of a cocktail, a cocktail not served nicely when we had to sit and watch other people have theirs more nicely, not the right cutlery at all. Would not go back there again. This has come up on Cardiff's page but it was a review for the one in Bristol, The City Centre branch.

Love this place! Always my first choice for somewhere to go with the girls. Always a lush atmosphere. Food is always amazing. And the cocktails… my favourite place to go for cocktails. Staff are so friendly too, and always very helpful. Highly recommend

I had my birthday drinks with friends this weekend and Millie was fabulous. We had bottomless brunch and she was always over to see if we needed anything. Can not fault her service. 5 stars ⭐️

Was here last week with my children for lunch. We sat outside which was lovely just people watching in the sun. My daughters who are 9 and 10 loved the décor which is generic for S &L's I think but is still lovely. Was cheap, cheerful and the staff that dealt with us outside were fantastic. 2 things that could perhaps be improved upon:-one, the toilets were a bit of a let down compared to the rest of the pub. They weren't dirty at all just a bit smelly ( I think Cardiff city centre has a problem with this as it wasn't the only one) and a bit shabby. The second thing is a bit trivial but was noticed. When I initially went in and asked for menu's, the barman/manager (not sure) showed me where they were and my 4 year old had come to find me. I went outside and was disappointed initially as there wasn't anything for the children....was only when I went inside to order that I was told by someone else about the children's menu. I understand a lot may read this and think "well it's a Slug, of course there's a kids menu but I wasn't aware...I don't get out much lol and don't live by a Slug! It's fine it's just that whole meal choosing thing could have been easier if I'd have just been told. Would go again x

Dan and Jack were amazing servers, got drinks very fast for bottomless and even let us double park when most places don’t! Overall lovely experience x never had a cheeseburger before but that was insane!

Went for bottomless brunch for our friend’s birthday celebrations. The service received was absolutely phenomenal really added to the atmosphere which was warming and friendly. A huge shout out to Shannon who really saw what we were all about and greeted us and tended to our requests. Ash our server was great and was on hand to make sure our time at the Slug & Lettuce was a great space to celebrate in style. Will definitely recommend and be returning, Thank You Guys!!!!

We were served by the lovely Georgina! She was very attentive to us the whole 2 hours of our bottomless brunch and was lovely. She kept the drinks topped up and was overwhelming nice. We had such a fun time would definitely recommend!

Came here for a birthday bottomless brunch and was one of the best I’ve had compared to other places! Drinks were constantly being topped up by our lovely server Megan and food was really nice. Will definitely be coming back soon for nice cocktails, good food and super nice staff! 😊
