Stopped in for a quick snack and a beer. This is the first Carling's I've had in many a year! The Mrs and I split a "dirty fries". These were ok. The service here was very friendly. We were told that you "don't drink shanties in the oldest pub in Wales!" This is a real, local pub. We were introduced to locals that have come here every day for years. Very impressive. We had a blast!

A wonderful, long standing establishment in Cardiff. Exceptionally well located within the town, plenty of space, clean and tidy with a great selection of food and drinks. I've had a warm welcome in every visit.

Good beer, friendly staff. We sat outside and watched the, sometimes very interesting, world go by whilst chatting with the locals. Extensive sports coverage available inside. 👍

Absolutely incredible spot to watch a rugby match. There was an amazing crowd after a Welsh rugby match, and the bar was vibrant and alive. Definitely the best rugby pub I have ever experienced.

Traditional Cardiff Brains pub... undoubtedly the best in Cardiff. Hasn't changed in the past 35 years and probably longer. Perfect pint every time. A proper Cardiff pub.

Same great atmosphere, and the best pint of SA. New menu, no longer do my favourite ham, egg and chips, so a little bit disappointed. We had the cowboy burger, hunters chicken and the curry, all very nice.

Travelled 45 minutes as I heard there were panini stickers to swap. Nice homely pub, in a great location in Cardiff City centre. Staff were friendly and helpful, and had a couple of pints while watching the football and collecting some stickers. Will be back!

A fantastic early morning of Rugby on the box with a great crowd in to watch the big match...All Blacks giving the Springboks a bit of a lesson down under....Mark is an awesome host...everything organised superbly with the half time fry up cooked to perfection by the Master Chef Gabby..washed down with a coupla refreshing Bows...A brilliant way to start the day...Will be returning very shortly...Cheers to Mark and the crew! See you again soon : )

Called In with my 9 year old today, lovely friendly staff, managed to knock a glass over but wasn't a problem they just cleaned it up. Great food, good price for the portion size, my son couldn't finish his so they gave us a takeaway box. Just about to leave when last behind the bar came and asked my son of he wanted an ice cream, free of charge. Great place will definitely be back on my next visit to Cardiff.

Terrific pub which I have been visiting since my youth. If you want a lot of chrome and glitz whilst paying ridiculous prices for drinks, this is not for you. If you want friendly,hard-working staff, immaculately kept ale and a good meal at a fair price...you'll be delighted. Need to book on Rugby days or you won't get in.

It always amazes me that a large city centre pub has the feeling of a local pub in the suburbs yet this place pulls it off every time. I've also noticed the food is different, better!, than what Brains used to turn out. now it is genuine 'good pub grub' so you know what to expect. Last visit I had the Ham, egg and chips, proper! Keep up the good work

The best pub in Cardiff—as all the locals will tell you! Super staff, delicious food, and great atmosphere. Family friendly. We actually searched this place out since our last name is Brain. Our kids were hesitant to go because many bars where we are from aren’t places you’d want to take kids…but we had to go in, and I tell you, this visit made our whole Cardiff trip! Our very picky kid even said the chicken was the best he’s ever had. Terrific kids menu—essentially anything on the main menu but in a smaller portion, and kids eat for only 1£ on Wednesdays with a regular adult meal. We sat in the back room and they even have a courtyard patio. Thank you, Brains

I love the Old Arcade especially match day. However im at a loss to understand why tables were out for the Wales v England game. Granted it was an away game but its the biggest game in the rugby calender so its like a normal match day in Wales. The place was heaving you could barely move, people were not moving away from the bar after buying drinks and you had to go around the outside to get to the toilets. We had to leave in the end instead of having our nigbt there. Bad decision by The Old Arcade to have tables out.

Went to meet a few girls for my friends birthday. Sat outside in the porch. Great atmosphere especially for loud group like us. Toilets spotless and rugby match on the Tele in the bar. Never once heard swearing. All men in the bar watching Tele but all respectable. Loved the experience of my first time here

Popped in this bar for the first time and was really impressed with the atmosphere. Ended up staying for food which was reasonably priced. Shout out to Elise for helping me navigate the vegan options for my son. Will definitely revisit!
