Nice intimate bar ! Delicious veggie breakfast served until 2pm. Super friendly staff and nice enough to allow breakfast order just on the limit as I was there at 1.56 or so, I was very grateful. I absolutely loved the decor 😍 ❤️ and their menu design and the little Hendricks tea cups and my favourite tea bags PG... vintage and antique yet fresh and up-to-date with their cocktail selection and will definitely try on next visit, today it was a bit too early for that.👌 😍 🙌

To be honest..Besides being sat next to a dirty, smelly drain, Probably the worst afternoon tea we've had! This afternoon tea with a glass of prosecco was bought for us! To start off.. the glass of prosecco was flat & warm! The sandwiches... Were at best 'ok' (cheese & Tomato. ham. cucumber.. were fresh (not very exciting though!) The cakes.. Were practically thrown on the plate (some upside down) looked like a car crash! Cheap, shop bought & so obviously cut into portions a rush! The scones.. probably should have been the hilight.. Seriously! Who serves canned squirty cream with jam & scones??? Very disappointing, don't waist your money...

Nice introduction to Welsh specialties like the Welsh rarebit, lamb cawl and Glamorgan sausage. The Glamorgan sausage was the best of them all! The Welsh rarebit seemed rather ordinary and I found the lamb cawl to be somewhat bland. Still managed to finish the food though!

Great place to stop any time! The bar menu is solid, and the food is amazing. If you're looking for a great starter, try the lamb kebab.

I would fully recommend this establishment if you are looking to punish someone. Or if a partner has been cheating and you want to get them back. Going here is worse than cheating in my opinion. I had the misfortune of attending a friends birthday here last week and the whole experience left me feeling ill. We had to argue to be allowed to sit inside despite requesting that we would be able to when making the booking. The smell was foul inside, with drains and toilets lingering in the air. As for the food, I feel for the people outside as I think the chef must have borrowed once of the heating lamps from out there to cook my starter - like warm, barely cooked through and certainly not edible. The main was a similar theme but to be honest I was not hungry by this point anyway as the smell had wore me down and we just wanted to get the bill. The lady serving was pleasant enough but fighting a losing battle with the quality of the food being served. This place is prime location for drinks, I’m not sure why it doesn’t just focus on that. The decor is also horrendous but at the bottom of the list in terms of things to improve on before worrying about that.

Americans in Cardiff. Tiny, authentic, independent bar. Good food, including vegetarian options. Shout out to El, the bar tender for making a Hot Toddy! Tasty Welsh rarebit toast (see pic; was four pieces in the order).

I ordered a lamb cawl today, and it tasted brilliant! The price was very affordable and reasonable. Plus, Jack is such a lovely guy and always there to help. Highly recommended!

Went on a wednesday lunch with my mum. Service was friendly, fast and accommodating when asking for extra’s like napkins, glass of water. Vegan sharing platter was great with a variety of fried, fresh and roasted foods with many dip options. Great location for people watching whilst eating as well as relatively intimate-feeling considering it’s a patio too. Would repeat!

Had dinner and a few drinks here with my partner and was very happy with the food and service. The staff checked in regularly if we needed anything which was very nice! We were promptly given our cocktails and the food came faster then we thought! We had the burger with triple cooked chips and we were very full. Price of the food was good too. Would come again when were next in Cardiff.

Me and my fiancee wandered in to Pitch on a whim. Despite turning up 10 minutes before the kitchen was due to close, we were welcomed in and seated straight away. The staff were friendly and attentive, the atmosphere was relaxed and cozy. Furthermore, the food is hearty and delicious. I have to recommend the beef and ale pie, it's absolutely exquisite. A small establishment with a big heart, if you're in Cardiff and you want a bite to eat, give Pitch a go!

We loved the atmosphere and some of the food. We went there to try the traditional welsh rarebits and Glamorgan sauvages. They were good and we liked them. The desert however, a wesh apple pie, was really disappointing and was a bitter ending.

Firstly, the ambience was exquisite. The team was really nice and patient. The waitress suggested Welsh sausage and mash, which was really good. The rarebits were delicious and filling. The Welsh loaded fries were not 'loaded' enough. We went looking for lamb cawl, however, because of the long cooking time, we couldn't try it. The team was really kind and offered us a take away. We weren't able to go back for the lamb cawl, but will definitely be coming back.

Massive thank you to the doorman that let me and my buddies in last night, for only the remaining hour. 4 of us at first, then 4 more joined us, followed by another 2. You could have easily ruined our night, as other places tried to, but you were very professional and accommodating. Thank you, Pitch. Cracking night!

A nice bar located in the city centre of Cardiff, the waitress gives warm and good service. It serves good Welsh food better than restaurants, recommended dishes included Lamb Cawl, Welsh rarebit bites and Cardiff beer SA Gold.

We wanted to try the Welsh rarebit in Cardiff and this place had it on the menu. We had as a starter, it was really delicious, it was warm and fresh, although the mains weren’t great. The salad that I ordered was at least 2 days old, possibly stored somewhere in the back on the kitchen, the tomato and the beetroot were rotten, the other green leaves were just not fresh. And the stew came with a very bread roll as well.

Staff was friendly and food was delicious. Definitely try the rarebit and the lamb cawl. This is a good place to try traditional welsh food.

  • 3/5 Rachel E. 2 years ago on Google
Food was OK, Welsh rarebit bites as a starter was 3 (1/2) slices of warm bread with cheese. Not what was expected. Main took alot longer than anticipated due to a chef error but also drinks took over 10 minutes (just pints) whilst other people's drinks were being given before and these were cocktails. Seemed like if you were familiar with the staff, your order came first. Food was nice but we wouldn't be in a rush to come back.

We were gifted a voucher so booked a table to enjoy a birthday meal and although there had been a slight change of plan due to the voucher provider, Pitch were more than happy to accommodate us still and we had a lovely time thanks to Lewis the manager and also Lewis who was there on the day too! The food was delicious, we will definitely be back again! Much appreciated :)

Was looking for a local place to try some Welsh food. Hit the spot! Rarebit was lovely, sausages and mash was good, mash had leeks through it, sausages were mid range but I’m paying mid range so fair enough. Had the creme brûlée for dessert, was nice with a brittle top. Staff are very nice and caring and you can tell that they make a nice team.

We were looking a place to try some welsh dishes at it was the perfect choice! Despite not having a huge list of mains we could try beef, chicken and fish with diferentes options. Quantity was ok and really really tasty! Would definetly recommend it for anybody is visiting Cardiff!

Not sure what has happened with the kitchen on the day we went there. Nearly 1h30 for the food to arrive from the moment we sat down...and only a handful of table were occupied. And, poache eggs were hard. Nice staff at the services though, they apologized many times and gave our drinks for free. Hope the kitchen get their act together...

I booked this for me and friend for some drinks and food, it was not what I was expecting. Was very rowdy and noisy, we had a table booked for 6.30 and the table next to us (upstairs room) was screaming so loud we couldn't hear each other. The food was not bad we had a sharing platter, cocktails were average. We only had two drinks then left. To sum it up the toilet was covered in sick at around 7pm which sums it up really. Wouldn't visit again but if you are looking for casual place this might be for you.

Cozy, intimate bar with yummy traditional Welsh options to warm you on a wet, cold day. Vegan and vegetarian options available! Service was quick and friendly. Close to the city center and Cardiff Central Station. Toilets were clean and well maintained. Enjoy!
