We were gifted a Groupon for a 3 course steak meal for two. On arrival we were given the set menu.l without much instruction. We arrived at 7pm on a Tuesday night and placed in close proximity between two other tables. Too close for comfort. I will try to keep this review constructive. 15 minutes it took before the waitress asked for our drinks order. 15 minute later the drinks arrive and the waitress disappears. I let the person know at the till 10 minutes later that we are ready to order. The starter took a further 15 minutes and the main arrived at around the 8:30 mark. As I'm writing this review it's now 9pm and the plates have just been removed. Edit: Dessert has arrived at 9:15! And in fairness the bread and butter pudding is pretty good! The chocolate brownie however is dry and generic. Misc points: They tried to charge us for 3 items on the bill that we didn't order. The dessert spoon was dirty (minor). The Welsh rarebit was a good experience. In terms of the mains we both had steaks. My partner opted for the +£6 sirloin whilst I thought I'd suffer the cheap cut. Both were cooked medium as requested but somehow rubbery. Both of us had a good arm workout trying to cut them. Not sure why it took an hour to prepare this and not sure how they made a sirloin cut so rubbery. The triple cooked chips and the saltes fries were the best part of the meal. The toilets were very nice despite being on a completely different floor. TL;DR extremely slow service for mediocre food. Tired and Disappointed waiting. Steak was bad but desserts and starters were OK.

Stunned of the sub-par food quality, inattentive services of the once Michelin-star chef’s restaurant. With many of the retired chef’s photos around the restaurant, I’m not sure if he still involves in the operation.... tastes of many dishes were quite plain, I have ordered a 250ml wine but was given a smaller glass as well as never asked me to taste the wine before serving, the green salad on the side of my dish was missing & I needed to ask them before they realised, we’re given bottled water though we didn’t ask for it. Totally not worth the money!

We visited the Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill several times during our stay in Cardiff, as it was part of the Indigo Hotel. We had breakfast and lunch there while staying at the hotel. The restaurant is centrally located in Cardiff, but it can be a little difficult to spot because it is located on the 6th floor of the Indigo Cardiff. Upon entering, you are greeted by a very stylish and modern restaurant with a lovely grand piano and plenty of seating for drinks before or after your meal. Breakfast was a very pleasant experience. There was a range of options on the continental buffet, and you also get a choice from their breakfast menu. I had "The Favourite," which is smoked salmon, eggs, and avocado on sourdough. It was divine. The continental buffet had everything you would want, including fruits, cereals, pastries, a variety of breads, and more. We then stopped for Sunday lunch, which I have to say was absolutely fantastic. I started with French onion soup, which was sensational. Then, my husband and I both had the Sunday roast. There was so much of it that I couldn't quite believe it when it was delivered to the table. There was so much meat, and the beef was amazingly tender. There was pretty much every side you could want, including Yorkshire pudding, stuffing, roast potatoes, and a huge array of vegetables, including amazing cauliflower cheese. The service was also fantastic from start to finish. The whole team was highly professional and approachable. I personally cannot fault anything that we had, and every aspect was top quality. I would certainly recommend a visit if you're looking for a fantastic Sunday roast—but make sure you come hungry!

It’s good, but I think there are ways to improve. The service was fantastic. Sometimes a little too eager but that’s fine, it’s something to learn from as staff. Food wise, adored the starters, the scotch egg is a fantastic option and worth going for. Sever with a creamy mustard sauce which pairs so well with the yolk of the egg and the meaty flavour. A real highlight! The French onion soup was very tasty, it seemed like almost a more of a tomato base rather than a beef stock, none the less very enjoyable. The mains were a little bit of a let down, the roast chicken was very moist and flavoursome, as well as the mushrooms. But the fondant potato seemed under seasoned, the same goes for the spinach. They stuck out a lot on the plate as not reaching the flavour of the chicken and mushroom. My partners steak was cooked slightly under for the order. Same complaint about the spinach, and the chips we’re very good. Just a matter of seasoning, tightening the edges. Finally the mouse was superb with chantilly cream. Drinks were also fantastic, with a massive selection. Menu helpfully sets wines into their flavour profiles. Overall a good meal, but the mains a little bit of a letdown for the price.

After being seated at 5pm, we were served within 20 minutes and received our drinks almost half an hour later. our food didn't arrive until 1 hour and 40 minutes. after being greeted we were made aware there was no festive menu due to a delivery issue... but also no pinot grigio wine, no cottage pie and my neice ordered an appletieser which was replaced with an apple juice, but with no question to whether this was okay. on arrival, the food came out dead cold, the orders were wrong on many accounts (3 out of the 9 of us who ordered) so food was sent back for fresh dishes. my steak was filled with gristle and was not pleasant to eat, my partner's was tasteless and has since made her ill. my neice had a burger and although I understand beef can be served pink, the burger literally looked like fresh meat that hadn't been cooked. they didn't bring out our side orders until almost 20 minutes after bringing our mains out. thankfully the manager didn't ask us to pay a penny as we weren't prepared to as is, but considering we had visited before and the food and service was magnificent, it's a shame that I decided to take my family here for our Christmas meal this year. among all these issues were the absolutely atrocious toilet hygiene. every bowl of the women's loos were stinking dirty, the floors and walls were awful and the ladies of the family had nothing but complaints before we even sat down to be served. I would not recommend this place unless you're prepared for mediocre food and service for premium price.

Horrific. Atrocious. Wow. What an experience. We came for my birthday and we were absolutely shocked with the whole experience and customer service. This is the worst we have experienced in a long time. We have come here a few times and it hadn't been the best but today was horrific that It will take a lot to bring us back. Firstly... we were taken to our table at 730pm. Lovely... however... 40mins later no service.. We had to wave over a waitress and asked for a wine menu... I asked her could we order with her due to the dleya.. she said no she'd get a waitress.. brilliant another wait... Finally we ordered our wine! It was brought over by the bottle and lumped on the table. No please sir would you like to try the wine? No glasses delivered and no unscrewing of the cap. Glasses were then brought over and dropped to the table. One glass span for a few minutes.. waitress did not pour the wine just walked off. Not what you expect for a MPW restaurant!! Ordered our food a while later!!! Took an age to be delivered. May I add at this point the table next to us was served first however? Didn't get their drinks for 1hr. And then after 1hr told that the rose they ordered is now out of stock... horrific! We had our mains delivered... no sides that we ordered... thrown in front of us... no offer of condiments at all! No offer of refill of table water. Steak was horrific, dry and just not edible! Not sure my dog will appreciate it. No steak sauce as per order. I got frustrated and spoke to the supervisor as apparently no manager of shift... asked for mayonnaise and no delivery of what I asked at all. Didn't eat our meal asked for a box and not one member of staff apologised or anything. Just brought a box. We waited an hour before our main was removed. We were sat down at 730pm. I am sat here at 10.05pm with our horrible main in front of us uneaten and supervisor aware. No one has cleared plates or offered desert. Its 10pm. 2.5hrs later than when we sat down. Awful service. The table beside us eventually had their mains delivered and it was the Zane as ours horrific! They left immediately and their mains are still sat on their table 1hr later uneaten as seen in the picture. The table beside them left aswell with horrific service. Avoid this restaurant I'm mortified to have booked it for my birthday. Such a disappointing end to what should have a lovely day.

As we were staying at the hotel attached to the restaurant, my husband and I made a booking for the three course set menu. Please be aware that this option is not available in the evenings (we did not see this stipulation when we looked online). We both found the venue to be very Covid-safe. We were not seated too near to anyone else and the menu we were provided with was single-use. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and accommodating, giving us excellent food recommendations, despite it only being her first week! We both had the Welsh rarebit, followed by the steak. For dessert, I had the bread and butter pudding and he had the chocolate ice cream. The food was delicious and the steak was the highlight of our meal. For just under £22 a head it was incredibly good value.

We thoroughly enjoyed our three course meal here. There was a slight mix up with the sides ordered but it was corrected within 5 minutes. Lovely staff and freshly prepared food. If you're staying in Hotel Indigo Cardiff then it's the perfect place to eat as it's located in the same building.

Very disappointed. Not busy for a Saturday night, service was poor, bar the manager assisting with a poorly accessible toilet, and assistance with temperature regulation. The place was boiling hot which didn't kick things off in the right way, the jug of water, as well as the table and some cutlery, was not clean. Now for the food, I was very disappointed with the steak, it was not seasoned appropriately, and it had been overcooked, leaving a bitter charred flavor that infected the rest of the dish. One young member of staff was laughing and making a lot of noise, on an albeit quiet night, however, I found this off-putting and in poor taste, no pun intended. Some of the other staff were however friendly and helpful which made the experience less unpleasant. Overall though the food quality combined with the lack of clean utensils equals would definitely not recommend. PS. Their lift is broken :(

Good steak for dining in the UK but presentation left much to be desired. Plates were room temperature at best. I had asked for a rare steak but it definitely seemed cooked to medium. But then it was quite a thin piece so it's difficult to quibble over. Nobody was waiting to welcome diners so I had a few minutes to find and read the menu before being seated. At 8pm there weren't many other diners so the atmosphere wasn't great. All in, compared to recent experiences with Canadian steakhouses, this was a mediocre meal despite the premium price and the claim to be a 'signature' dish.

My first time at this restaurant and it will definitely not be my last. The staff were fantastic, courteous and extremely efficient. The hostess Claire was superb. I ordered the steak with garlic prawns. Wow! By far the best steak I have ever tasted

I'm really disappointed to be writing this. Four of us went for a meal last night, all very much looking forward to it. We waited a very long time for our starters to arrive, unfortunately they brought our mains. We explained that we hadn't had starters yet, they said that no starters were on the ticket even though we saw the waitress write it down. After another very long wait, our soup was served, it wasn't great but we all finished it. After yet another VERY long wait, our mains turned up, this was 2 HOURS after we'd arrived. We'd ordered two steaks, I asked which steak was which and was told that they were cooked the same. They shouldn't have been. He went away to check and told me that mine was medium rare, the other one was medium..... they weren't, I genuinely don't believe he had any idea what was going on. I started my main, without the peas I'd ordered, which didn't turn up at all, but by now that was the least of my worries. My steak was cold and very chewy, the tiny portion of chips were Luke warm, my friends pork was cold and bland. I couldn't eat mine and sent it back. The waitress was lovely, and offered to have it warned up / cooked more etc. but I had no interest in paying a lot of money for a reheated chewy steak. I obviously can't prove it but I'm confident it was the same steak they'd brought out an hour before. My partners steak was also cold and chewy but she persevered because she was so hungry. There was no way we were having dessert, so we left soon after. Admittedly they didn't charge me for my meal, but I had sent back all of the chips and 90,% of the steak. It was a genuinely disappointing experience that we had really been looking forward to. I have never in my life just given up on a steak and sent the whole thing back. I went home and had toast because I was so hungry....... It was nicer than my meal and a lot warmer. I love to go out for food and can't believe how a restaurant with Marco Pierre White's name over the door can be that bad. For the money they charge, it was appalling.

Indigo is my favourite place to stay in Cardiff so thought it was about time we try out this restaurant! Firstly they were very good at finding us a table on a busy Friday night at short notice. The food itself was pretty good, but not to the level of hype the brand is given. I also felt the menu was quite limiting around steak sauces, instead of giving sauce choices they offer the same steak with different toppings. The big let down to us was service, I don’t think our waiter had been given enough training, when we asked about a particular wine he had to ask if it was red or white, when we ordered a cider he came back and said it wasn’t in stock. Food came quick enough but we were never asked if we wanted any more drinks. We got a discount being hotel residents so turned out to be good value, and with a little improvement could be very good. Not sure id visit when full price though.

Lacking a little in ambience. Very quiet and felt uncomfortable. Food was delicious, but service spoilt a little when wrong desserts were served.

First experience in a celebrity chefs place. It was enjoyable, not too expensive and the service was excellent. On the back of this experience, we will be trying other restaurants closer to home, so, well done.

Pains me to say this, but not the best experience. We'd bought gift vouchers, and upon turning up, one of the guys asked for out vouchers to scan, which was weird, I mean, who pays for their meal before even sitting down? He seems rude and very laddish too, not very well spoken. We were served by a waitress who was very pleasant, ordering out food, a lot of things seemed to be out of stock! 2 bottles of wines that we wanted was out of stock too.. I don't think she was trained properly, as she struggled to open a corked bottle, she asked if we wanted her to pout the wine, to which I replied yes, thinking it was to taste.. She proceeded to pour the fullest glass of red ever, with the wine dropping along the neck of the bottle all over the wine glass lol.. She seemed nervous and inexperienced. But she was lovely and nice enough. I ordered the scotch egg. Was expecting a runny yolk, unfortunately, it wasn't. Everyone's steak was over cooked, I'm too fussy with my steak, and had to send it back. It came back much better presented than everyone else's, the restutaunt wasn't busy either. Although my steak was cooked how I liked it, the fat wasn't rendered properly, for a £30 steak, it's very disappointing. One of our party members had been previously, and had a much better meal. So maybe they've changed chefs since? I still have gift vouchers left, I'll be using them at a different location. I wouldn't visit here again which is unfortunate.

Came to Cardiff to meet some friends and decided to come to this restaurant - staff had no idea about the drinks as new and said half of them were not available, ordered but still waited over 20 minutes and went to bar to order again - ordered bread and olives but never turned up but added to bill. Ordered a wine but gave up waiting - ordered lamb but was average if honest Definitely won’t be visiting this restaurant again!

Fantastic meal, started with the scotch egg which was very tasty and then the fillet steak with peppercorn sauce, the steak was cooked to perfection and the chips were thick and very crunchy. We will definatley go again.

It was OK. We hadn't booked a table and we're very grateful when the could squeeze us in. Later noticed it was quiet anyway so there would have been plenty of tables. The place did look lovely and the menu good ( the one on line is slightly different and cheaper so they need to change that ). Staff were polite although there were way too many of them so too much chatting and hanging around. Not attentive enough. One staff member dropped our drinks and it happens but no one came and helped her. They left her until she went off crying and my son started to pick up ice and wipe our table. The bar is open to the hotel so when you get 2 drunk builders in, it spoils the atmosphere a bit. Instead of sorting them out the manager was laughing and chatting with them. The food was nice however mine was wrong and my sons very fatty but apparently that because he had it rare ???? 🤔 Dessert was OK, cheesecake in a glass but from the fridge so like a brick and couldn't eat it, sticky toffee was lovely. We had to ask for more drinks etc as no one checked on us or even asked and the door to the smoking balcony left left open so it was cold. It's a shame but these little things spoil a night when your spending good money. This place isn't cheap and staff need to remember that. It might be part of the hotel but they need to up their game. Not really sure if we would go again. My son enjoyed it but I was left a bit flat but the company was 5 star.

To be honest we were disappointed. Visiting a MPW restaurant gave us high expectations given his reputation. The biggest let down was the menu choice which basically was nothing more than pub food. I went for burger & chips, my other half went for fish & chips and the other two went for steak. Put simply the prices were astronomical compared to pub food but the quality was no better, or in two cases worse. The fish was tasteless and greasy, the burger was average (1st choice not available). We waited an hour after our shared starter and had to then chase the mains. The wines were very good but at nearly £40 a bottle should have been decent. Nothing majorly bad to report but overpriced bland pub food is how I'd describe it. I've eaten much better in Cardiff so sadly won't be rushing back

We came for afternoon tea for my friends 25th birthday, 24/11. Not one member of staff made us feel welcome, nobody wishing the birthday girl well - despite two big numbered balloons! The sandwiches were slightly stale, were clearly not fresh and the cake portions varied - seemed rushed and careless. I ordered a Dirty Martini, which didn’t come with an olive - as advertised. I questioned this and they told me they’d put olive brine in, but only had garlic infused olives - ‘you wouldn’t want that, would you?’ is what the, I assume, manager followed with. Without wanting to complain and taint the birthday event, I couldn’t not mention the disappointment, from what I would expect to be a high end restaurant. I won’t be returning.

We booked for an afternoon tea for four of us. On arrival we was advised that there was no reservation booked in for us. I had booked via email and had the reply back confirming it was available and they even asked if I had any allergies which I responded to. We Was told to take a seat and after 15 mins no one came back to see us and everyone else was being seated. I went back to to ask what was happening and was told someone will be over shortly. The front of house lady then came over to advise we had to wait 2 hours as no tables was available. There was a table free right by us so I asked about sitting here in the bar but was advised we couldn’t sit there and had to wait 2 hours for the main restaurant. I requested to see a mgr who to be fair dealt with the situation confidently and did allow us to eat at the free table. I requested complimentary drinks for the inconvenience and was given those which was I grateful for. The actual afternoon tea was very good and plentiful. The setting is lovely but they need more staff they are rushed and making mistakes. The staff that serviced us was lovely but just not attentive enough due to how busy they are. The toilets also wasn't clean. I probably wouldn’t return and that’s a shame as the food was lovely but service impacted our visit but i genuinely believe resources are the issue as the staff was very busy.

Came here on a whim for a meal and was not disappointed. I had the pork á la milanese and my girlfriend had the colonel burger. Portion sizes were larger than anticipated (as is evident by the towering burger pictured) but not a negative. Pricing a little more than usual but still appropriate for the service and food we received. Definitely worth going to for either a one off or semi regular visits. Really nice setting and atmosphere even if you want a few drinks instead.

Efficient Staff. Welcoming atmosphere. We were shown to our seats and provided with menus. Meals were delicious and served promptly. Steaks were cooked to perfection. Finished off our meal with puddings. Staff were attentive and courteous. Our first visit but certainly wont be our last.

We got married last Chistmas ( both oldies!) and this meal was part of our wedding gift so waiting for warmer weather we booked last Sunday at 3pm. We had a day shopping in Cardiff the went to MPW for our meal...and boy what a meal! The service was impeccable, polite and discreet at all times, the food was presented hot and perfectly and I have never tasted such a tender Steak! We were never rushed throughout our meal and it was a perfect time. Please pass on our thanks to all the staff in Cardiff for us, it was a magic experience for both of us. We are going to return as the Afternno Tea looked yummy! Once again, thank you to everyone. Paul Thomas.
