Delicious food and drinks served to our table by Mikey, who was really polite and friendly. We used the scan the qr code. No queuing at the bar, brilliant. Mikey didn't stop as it was a busy sunny Saturday lunchtime, as did the rest of the staff. Well done all a 5 star from me and will be back!

Our experience from the time we walked in was massively positive. A Great waitress who could put you at your ease with friendly banter. The food arrived quickly, and was very tasty, no complaints at all.

Terrible service today, to be honest. They couldn’t cope with the numbers of covers they had. We were are large party and had pre-ordered our meals. Starters took over an hour to come out and there were five starters missing! It was 3.5 hours to be served three courses. And then the bill was shambolic - the deposit we’d paid hadn’t been deducted and the till “keeps crashing” so they couldn’t calculate the costs for us. They printed a receipt for us to calculate ourselves and at that point we discovered the prices were higher than on the menus we’d been given! And this was all after a radiator cap/valve came off and sprayed hot water over the wall and one of our party. Admittedly that was a freak accident but we spent a good portion of our meal helping staff to deal with that. And then we still experienced shocking service. Salmon starter was poor, Turkey dinner was good to be honest, and the Christmas pudding was dry, burnt at the bottom and lacking in sauce. Will not return as part of a large party again.

A wonderful setting overlooking Cardiff, with great service and lovely food. This visit was for Sunday lunch and did not disappoint. I had a trio of meats (beef, Turkey and pork) with the biggest Yorkshire I’ve seen! Plenty of sides and extra gravy provided when asked. Everyone agreed it was delicious. Dessert was outstanding-melting chocolate dome with brownie and ice cream-highly recommend a visit!

A little out of the way but great views over the city. Good honest pub grub at reasonable prices, with offers of 2 courses for £12.50 in the week. I had the special for the day, salmon with dauphinois potatoes, for £10 and it was delicious. Partner had bangers and mash, with peas and fab beef dripping gravy which was lovely. Was sat near the log fire which was nice and had a great pint of Barry Island IPA. Staff were lovely and efficient too. Oh, and they let dogs in!

Been here in different occasions and every time the meal is real tasty like the scampi, fish finger and soup are the best so far for me. The atmosphere is gorgeous because sometimes you can see horses outside and there's lots of greenery but also in the inside there's quite interesting pictures and it feels quite cozy.

Popped in for a quick bite to eat. Although it was a quiet Thursday night, the service was good. I had a signature burger, which was enjoyable. The pub has a large outdoor area and large car park. We'll worth a visit.

All 4 of us each had an excellent meal. The ham hock fell off the bone and was very tasty. Also excellent service. Our waitress had a lovely smile and was very polite.

We were recommended to visit by a colleague. We weren't disappointed. Our steaks were awesome. 35 dry day aged rump and t-bone. Can't say more. Staff were extremely professional. Well done 👍

Friendly, welcoming and polite staff. We were a table for 10 and were seated in the bar area. There was a private party in the barn with blaring music which was really intrusive, we couldn't enjoy conversation with the whole table as we couldn't hear eachother. There was also a speaker above the table playing different music. The food service was slow and the quality was mediocre at best. Chips were boiling but the rest of the food on the plate was tepid. The outside areas have been improved and very pleasant. Great for families. A real shame as were really looking forward to returning to the Ty Mawr after a long break after it went downhill. Hoped that things had turned around with new management but we were very disappointed with the quality of food and the extremely slow service.

Got married here at the end of October this year. Could not have picked a better venue. Situated in the countryside with stunning views of Cardiff. The Barn room was perfect for a small wedding. Emma and her team worked hard to make sure the day ran flawlessly which it did. Guests were very complimentary on the food. A beautiful place that helped make so many wonderful memories for us.

Had a catch up with a friend who was visiting from New Zealand here, visited for some drinks and didn’t catch the name of the waitress however she had straight brown hair and was a younger woman, she came over promptly to ask if we needed anything and wanted to order and anything she wasn’t sure of she went to check straight away. Lovely girl! Will be returning :)

New management, staff friendly and jolly. Selection of food is great, however, Monday night when we're there, steak not available and my 1st choice of main meal and pudding had ran out, 2nd options I was pleased. My husband had fish and chips, it was fantastic! Food presentation was appealing!

Another first time visit, immaculately kept old country pub on the outskirts of Cardiff , warm welcome by the waiting team , stunning Xmas tree and log fire made it more welcoming. The food was excellent . Huge beer garden for hot summer days with an outside bar and plenty of facilities for the kids in the play area . We both ordered the sausage and mash with streaky bacon and caramelised onion gravy 😋👍

Lovely warm welcome; we were shown quickly to our table which had nice views over the outside grounds. Our drinks order was taken quickly and the drinks brought soon after. We all enjoyed the meals, three had a Sunday roast and I had pulled ham hock. Ellie was our server and was friendly and attentive. A very enjoyable experience!

Lovely place for food with great views. We had Sunday roast and the vegetarian option was pretty good. Nice and polite staff. Lots of parking spaces.

Great location. View over the Bristol Channel. Not impressed by the food. I had a "simple salad". It was covered in peppers and drenched with a highly spiced dressing. I cannot eat, and don't like spicy food. Perhaps a choice of dressing and having it separate. I had to swop meals It was all right, but I thought uninspired . we have had better. The playground for the children was similarly bland ..Our two were bored with it within a minute

It was a lovely sunny evening so the pub was busy so I was a bit apprehensive about what the service might be like. I had no need to be. The staff were EXCELLENT. Attentive, welcoming and working extremely hard to serve customers and maintain high standards. The food was delicious and the atmosphere in the garden as the sun went down was beautiful - I love the ambient lighting. Thank you for a lovely evening. The staff made it.

Lovely welcome on arrival, warm friendly staff and atmosphere. Food was fantastic and the deserts are amazing. All served in a timely manner without rushing us. We had a great Sunday lunch in a cozy, warm and welcoming place that we will be going back to. Staff were great, food was amazing, the interior is lovely and very welcoming and the surrounding area is beautiful.

I really enjoyed the Sunday lunch with my parents at Ty Mawr in Lisvane. We sat in a nice warm corner of the restaurant and I ordered a pint of my favourite drink. The meals on the menu seemed quite reasonably priced and I ordered lamb. When this arrived, it was accompanied by lots of nice vegetables and a large Yorkshire pudding with gravy. It was very tasty and not too filling. For desert, I ordered the homemade apple crumble with vanilla ice cream as did my Mum. I was quite surprised how low the cost was for our 3 meals and it was one of the best Sunday lunches I’ve had.

Very friendly and helpful lady greeted us at the entrance and found us a table for Sunday lunch. Nice food and service, ideal for a family lunch out.

Great place for dogs. Very family orientated. Don't order starters as it takes ages to get your lunch then.

Lovely setting and food was to a good standard. Staff friendly and mostly helpful, bar for the man who answered the phone to take our booking, he wasn't very friendly or helpful, to the point I almost didn't book. They like you to order your meals via the app online and ordering was hit and miss. They lost our order and we had to wait over an hour and a half for our meals. Overall though a lovely place and we would visit again.

We booked for drinks and buffet following my Mother's funeral today. The team really looked after us and provided excellent food. We were really well looked after and it was much appreciated. This much loved Cardiff pub is in very good hands.

Really nice place. Quiet with a lovely view but toilets are really bad. They were filthy when we went for a quiet evening drink actually. Rest rooms should be checked through the day, it's not hard. Really let's it down unfortunately.

The view is extra ordinary. The food is okay and always there some good deals. There is a playground outside which is very convenient for families with little children.

Excellent service. Sunday lunch was great. We asked for more gravy and that came immediately. Waitress was really good. Friendly and welcoming with a good sense of humour. Very dog friendly, which was fine by us. I would highly recommend

Fantastic location with stunning views of Cardiff and the estuary beyond. Staff were friendly and food was decent value. Great place to visit in good weather. Can order via QR code from tables or inside.

Lovely spot, with a view over Cardiff that you can see from both inside and outside. Very friendly welcome. Attentive but no fussy service. We only wanted a light lunch. I had the goat's and beetroot salad - it was very fresh and absolutely delicious.

It was such a lovely time celebrating with family. Our server, who I could wish I could remember her name was very friendly and professional. Our food was delicious and came promptly despite being in the busy hours of the day. The Ty Mawr was clean and fresh with a cosy cottage/pub element. Wonderful lunch time out! Would definitely come again for the roasts.

Really looked forward to lunch at the Ty Mawr on Saturday afternoon. Parked up, enjoyed lovely views over Cardiff and across the river Severn. Inside we found it clean and tidy and were afforded a nice table in a quiet corner. Though it was obviously too quiet!! After being seated, we waited over 30 minutes before I had to find someone to ask if we ordered at the bar even though we were told our order would be taken at our table. I was told someone would be over to take our order immediately. Immediately should not mean waiting a further 10+ minutes. Very small plates of food followed. We were intending having dessert, but weren't offered the menu when our plates were collected. Still waiting for someone to come back to the table our time ran out as we had plans later that afternoon. We booked our table from 2.30 to 4.15 which should have been plenty of time to eat 2 courses. Alas we had to depart dessertless. On paying the bill at the bar (giving up on paying at the table) we found all the waiters and waitresses congregated behind the bar. When we first arrived the manager (I assume) checked with front of house whether they had enough staff on. They may well have done, but they weren't very attentive to the seated customers. Very disappointing visit to a local restaurant with good reviews. The big birthday meal I was intending to book for will be taken elsewhere.

My last review was of mixed opinions I revisited after a few weeks apart and had a good night as I always do. Tables were still reserved but this time we were informed where we could sit and how long for, this made any awkwardness easier. I look forward to my next visit as it's one of my favourite places to drink and to catch up with old friends 👍

1st time here for my bikers club meet. 1st Impressions was it looks a lovely country pub. These dark cold nights are no good, but I Imagine it's a great place in the summer for outdoor sitting as it looked stylish and comfortable. Always nice to see a real fire in a country pub too 🔥 A little on the pricey side, but probably normal for location.

Dog friendly & child friendly. Service usually efficient but food can be slow when busy. There’s usually plenty of space outside. Good selection of beer. Food is standard pub grub and not bad value

Lovely place with a spectacular view. Loved the open fire! The staff were very attentive & polite, brilliant service. The food was lovely too. We had a really enjoyable time. This was my first visit but I will definately be visiting again. Many thanks!

Just had food at this great pub. One of our party needed vegan and gluten free food and drink. The staff were great at making sure all dietary needs were met. The food was absolutely delicious. The best pub food we've had in ages. Finally our host John was fantastic and made sure our evening was a memorable one. Many thanks

Place was really great and food was top notch. Was a slight problem with booking through the website but the gentleman was more than accommodating and food arrived quickly, fresh and tasted great. Pub sits in a lovely part of the countryside and is really nicely decorated, not to mention how nothing is overpriced and if anything - is cheaper than a lot of places that are not so nice.
