This is one of the better weather spoons I have been in, clean, good service, excellent prices, and the food is well cooked, whoever's doing the cooking needs a pat on the back for producing a very well cooked breakfast, been here several times now and it's always been good and hats off to the service staff. There are a few other spoons I'v been too could learn a few things from the staff here. Thank you from me keep up the good work.

Absolutely appalling service from this place today. Terrible attitude from the 2 servers. Waited 25 minutes for a soft drink we ordered and instead of them apologising the server slammed the drink down and walked off. We were then asked to leave by the server (who doesn't have the authority to do so) just because we said 'thank you' sarcastically.

Food was good, staff were nice and ordering was easy - not very clean though.. Not the staff's fault as some customers seem to think spreading food around the table is wonderful. But not so nice if you've got to scrape dried beans off the table

Standard Wetherspoons, cheap beer and easy environment to talk. Shame the kitchen was closed as we needed some food. But I understand it was a temporary closure.

Called in for a beer or two, place is really nothing special. The Bristol Belle IPA was quite good as was Jemima's Pitchfork, Gower Gold not so good.

Been here a few times and it's a solid pub. Service is generally good and food is nice. Tends to be an older crowd at least during the day. Their Stowford Press cider is a decent Strongbow alternative if that's your taste. Plenty of seating including an upstairs area. Food is good and bar staff are friendly.

This Wetherspoons has the standard average food but always full of old men with a pint, not a great atmosphere and not particularly family friendly if you are wanting a meal with children

I used to love this JD Wetherspoons , however, I had a bad experience during the last visit. The whole place smells like human urine, especially their chairs it actually smells bad . I had to change the seats because of the smell. It's not a good pleasing environment. The best part of this wetherspoons is that they serve very hot food, especially chips and onion rings. Best affordable drinks. That's the reason I prefer to visit this place. But now I need to think.

Went on a football match day so a few excitable people about but food and service was brilliant 🤩

Come here frequently as its cheap and cheerful. Plenty of seating with an upstairs, never had a problem with the food.

Decent quality pub with a huge selection of ales drinks etc. Just don't go on a match day and portions have gotten smaller

Before we could even order a drink we were ushered away ….. because we we’re outside …. With a dog .. let me say that again … not inside , but outside …. With a very very well behaved dog ..

Went for food and a couple drinks. Seevice was lightning quick and correct ! Couldn't believe how quick it was haha! Only ordered a brunch from the small plates menu (with a drink) but rook less than 15 mins. Was quite taken aback. I've given 5 stars for that alone. The pub itself is ok, 3 to 4 stars at best. Good visit definitely will go again. Ps... love the plates lol

One of the best Wetherspoon I've been to in a long time. Great menu and the prices are lower in this one due to alot of competition around. Really good atmosphere. The staff was very good here even though it was as busy as it gets. Can't wait to return.

Didn't have food but did look beautiful and tasty, unfortunately one bar member had a bit of abuse and she handled it very professionaly, all in all a great atmosphere and nice pint

Fairly typical spoons but in need of a refresh, staff always brilliant, food as described and great value

The Ivor Davies is a Wetherspoons pub on bustling Cowbridge Road East. It's an acquired taste even by local standards but much beloved by the older clientele. The drinks are incredibly cheap and the food menu has a broad range of special offers and deals which makes it a popular venue in Canton.

Cheap good quality food, great choice of alcohol, clientele can be somewhat rough around the edges although most lovely and friendly. Staff are excellent and friendly mostly. Service excellent especially with the new app that allows you to order from your table. Definitely recommend. The mixed grills are back !

Nice and quiet lunch visit, consistent with the standards of most wetherspoon pubs. Decent enough

Value for money, a bit too busy though staff do their best to cope. Food 5.5/10...reasonably priced, except side chips.

I call in here some times to meet up with friends before Wales home games. On the night of the Estonia game they had security on the door controlling how many people were in there. Service was OK. The beer I wanted was off. Not as packed as it used to be before previous home games, probably a sign of the times we are living in. They were still serving food but I did not order any, so cannot comment.

Breakfast was good, hot and reasonably priced. Not too busy so got served straight away and food arrived quickly.

  • 3/5 Chris W. 2 years ago on Google
The food arrived without the advertised accompaniments. When asked we were told that they would be out in a minute. Chips on one plate were stone cold and all the chicken was dry without the missing dips and coleslaw. The missing items didn't arrive. The bar staff were very friendly and welcoming though.

Had a large mixed grill, had wrong meat extreamly over done, onion rings over done the side of onion rings under done 2 meals odered for the same table came around 10 mins apart, when questioned the bar maid was very apologetic and brought 1 of each meat to the table all cooked perfectly so can't understand why the meal was shocking.

Busy, as there was a game on. What you'd expect for a wetherspoons. Can't fault the choice of drink and food and the prices

Service was fairly good considering it was busy. Beer was good with plenty of options.

Nice friendly atmosphere. Clean, with pleasant bar staff and the food and drinks excellent value. Able to order and pay for drinks from our table on our phones. Although they did make a slight mistake with our order it was quickly rectified.

Not staffs fault but usually good here . Lack of staff showed ..drinks left on tray for long time garlic bread had no cheese and replacement took so long we were leaving . But granted the lady refunded and gave it in a box . (Bit tough but it's free I guess ) . Kind staff I'm sure it's a 1 off . Other food was nice . Its pub food we dint expect deluxe lol

Typical spoons but always nice for bit of food and pint before the football or pop in after the game

Sadly, not a great experience. Tuesday 20th Dec friends and I popped in for coffee and cake. I ordered the pancakes but was given the smaller version, no big deal. I told them it was the wrong order then was asked to get my order from my friends phone so they could check. I'm sure they could have checked in the kitchen. They did make me two more pancakes but didn't give me ice-cream.(which is included) I was told I could have it as long as I paid for it. Bearing in mind it was their mistake not mine. I was then informed that kitchen manager Charlie was more concerned with stock control. Just a little customer service goes a long way
