A warm atmosphere with such welcoming and friendly staff. The entertainment is always spot on and friendships are easily made. It doesn't matter who you are or where you came from - this pub is one of the most welcoming I have ever stepped foot in!

The heart of the Docks. this is the very first pub I have ever felt the comfort of visiting solo and walking out with more friends than a lifetime can fit, and already planning my next visit. I can confidently say this is the core of Cardiff bay and the only, if not most recognised, pub to represent and display the true tradition of its residency and its people. If you’re looking for a place to feel belonging, make The Packet your second home or your first and last stop whilst visiting Cardiff Bay. You won’t regret it.

Superb boozer a stones throw away from Cardiff Bay. One of the best pints of Guiness I've had and a proper welcoming atmosphere. The landlord, landlady and bar staff made us feel very welcome!! Felt like a local after a few hours.

Best pub in The Bay, always has been but even better now we have Rachel & Ryan. Honestly, always worth a visit, everyone is welcome & no one leaves without a smile on their face!

Best pub in Cardiff, friendly locals, wicked music, it’s back to its old self but 10 times better. You won’t be disappointed!

Nice little bar . The young lady behind the bar made us very welcome, polite and always smiling. The pub has a history of why it is called The Packet which shows from its interior design. Well worth a visit when you are in Cardiff Bay area.

Visited on and off for years but going more regular recently as find the place has gone so much more inviting with the refurb, Aisha especially is great, always helpful and chatty. Place is warm and comfortable like you're sat in your own house and the 80s music on the TVs is a MASSIVE plus in my eyes. Drinks are reasonably priced and the place is kept clean. Live sports are shown and they have live music on the weekends. Great historic pictures in the building too including the map on the clock.

Fairly friendly, offered the bar maid a drink when buying my friend a Guinness and myself a double vodka & coke & was charged £19.20! if you like paying over the odds in today's days of mega inflation then head to the Packet

Absolute classic pub which has been running for many many years, service was excellent with the staff friendly, funny and very efficient. I will be visiting again very soon, I can't rate the food as we didn't have any

Historic building with great stained glass but not the greatest welcome and distracting boxing on TV screens

Horrible. Don't visit if you're not a regular. Advertised that they'll be showing two games at the pub and showed only one because "that's what they want". When I asked the landlady she just shrugged. Not even an apology.

Superb pint of Guinness in The Packet. I'm from Cardiff and can't believe I've never set foot in here before. Definitely missed out!! Very well kept pub in a lovely old building.

Great pub on the edge of mermaid quay. Lovely original finishes remain throughout, nice little beer garden and plenty of TVs to watch a range of sports. Lovely atmosphere and friendly bar staff with great selection of drinks available. Would definitely stop here again

Excellent old skool traditional pub. The landlord knows how to make a friendly atmosphere in an area full of "bars" not pubs.

A friendly pub, plenty of seating, loads of room. Friendly bar staff and steeped in history. One of the last original docks pubs in the area

A nice atmosphere in the only proper old pub I could find in the area. I didn't like the first beer I ordered, but the landlord kindly swapped it for another one.

Absolutely amazing staff! Warm welcome and so helpful. Couldn't do enough to help me and I'll be forever grateful. Thank you :) In addition, really friendly people and a lush atmosphere. If I lived closer I'd definitely visit again.

If you like a traditional pub then visit here, it's in a great location (Cardiff Bay). One of the very few 'original public houses' left in Cardiff Bay. Warm, welcoming, reasonable, great little beer garden, friendly staff, definitely worth a visit.

Proper old fashioned pub with no frills. Good beer, but do not serve food. Not trendy in the slightest.

Great traditional pub, felt very welcomed by the landlord and the pint of Guinness was the best I’ve had in Cardiff. Will definitely be returning when I’m down the bay.

  • 5/5 Anthony B. 1 year ago on Google
This is how a pub should be, no fancy cocktails, or music blasting away, you can actually sit down and have a conversation with your companions, or sit on your own with a newspaper, I felt really comfortable here and if I was a local then it would be my local, the young lady who served us was cheery and polite, make sure you call in for a glass or two.

If you're down the bay you really should call in here. Great selection of drinks, cozy bar, and the staff are super friendly and really helpful. My fave bar down the bay by far.

Spent the weekend close by and the packet was our local. Great staff, great fun and fully accommodating. Best pub in the bay

Nice, traditional pub in a good location. We walked there from the city centre to meet up with family. We were there a quieter time of day. Football was on but not too loud. I like places where you can chat without too much background noise and this fitted the bill. I don't know what it's like when it's busier. Hoping to go again.

👍👍 Great Jamaican food, we had a great time! I highly recommend the bottomless brunch, our waitress, Lucy, was very attentive and we had a great chat about nights out in Cardiff! The bar staff's cocktails were beautiful, too!
