Mixed grill for £13 left me well stuffed! Event beer prices were extremely steep however, hence four stars ...

A proper old boozer, I guess a sports bar as it has pool tables and TV's. We went in there to have carvery meals. They had pretty well run out of the food but Gareth, the manager I believe, gave us a plate of what they for free, and very tasty it was! A nice gesture much appreciated. Cheers also to Rosie the barmaid for giving us information about the area and John, the local for the friendly chat. A cracking visit for us tourists. 👍 Hamish

Well done Queens Vaults, there was a problem on Saturday during the very busy rugby with inappropriate touching by a customer to women going and leaving the toilets. When asked the manager came straight over and after speaking to a few women the person was ejected immediately. Well done again

Well the steak is amazing (I had rib eye) well done to the chef. Tastes better than top end restaurant. I had it now second time and it's still 10 out of 10 Staff lovely and engaging, check back is done twice even though is busy. I certainly recommend to come in for a steak meal.

Really nice dinner. I had a fish and chips, and my dad had a steak which were all very tasty and fairly priced. The salad was very fresh! The thing I didn't particularly liked was their choice of music - they played mostly 2000s Nu Metal and Death Metal which might not appeal to everyone, and the volume was quite loud.

I loved this place, proper pub, exactly how a pub should be, lively, bit of banter with total strangers, pool tables, and good beer, staff that served me do need some training or experience as he poured two pints incorrectly and had to put them to one side by the sink then proceeded to serve me a southern comfort instead of a JD, then he topped my glass right up with coke after I asked for a splash, he's too young and clearly a student, get some proper bar staff, cheap labour costs you in wasted drinks!!

A grade II listed traditional pub, busy and rowdy, not the most comfortable on Saturday evening, heavy rain brought humidity inside with live football on, smelly atmosphere, dirty sticky tables, place quickly emptied soon after football match ended.

Located opposite the Principality Stadium and Cardiff Arms Park this is a very busy bar when there are events in the stadia. The bar is decorated with images of Welsh rugby stars and you can even meet the odd legend in the bar. They serve a good range of beers and on Sundays an excellent carvery.

We have been here a few times in the past. Lovely place. Very social and buzzing. The pool tables were busy, sports on the TV and big screen. We all had food here, as did lots of others. Food beautiful service warm and friendly atmosphere really welcoming. We will go here again.

First time visit for me, must have missed it a thousand times. Good atmosphere, good beer. Great jukebox and pool tables. A nostalgic, good old fashioned Cardiff pub.

We visited yesterday and caught 2 people in the ladies toilets enjoying some adult aerobics in one of the cubicles 😂 And in the men's toilets, someone had pooped on the toilet seat, floor and up the walls. Brilliant!

Were early for the coldplay concert looking for somewhere to pass away a few hours, found this pub, dithered because from the outside not the most attractive of inns, however step through the doors and soak up the atmosphere the service and the ambience. This was a great acompanyment to great day. Thank you for your welcome. less than 2 minutes walk to gates 1and2 at the millenium stadium

Miserable service from the guy behind the bar, looked like he would prefer to be anywhere but working here! Nice pub otherwise and busy!

Fantastic steak for £9.99, cooked to perfection. Great selection of beers and lagers. Decent prices too.

Really disappointed with the attitude by a member of the bar staff last night. I was queuing to get a drink and he totally ignored me. He served people on both sides so I explained I had been waiting. He then accused me of having an attitude and said he wouldn’t serve me. I will spend my money elsewhere in future. Very disappointed.

Food served cold, ordered medium steak, and came over cooked grisly and unedible. When reported this to the manager, he was so arrogant and didn't want to know. And refused to refund us for the meals. Wouldn't recommend 1 out of 10 and that's pushing it.

During this short trip to Cardiff we came twice to this lovely place. The first visit was by chance, as we were simply looking for a place where we could just have lunch on a very busy Sunday, with everything completely full. We managed to find a table and drink a perfectly served Guinness along with a delicious cheese and bacon burger. We loved the place so much, that we returned the following day, for a more quiet and relaxed experience. Quite a vast and good selection of beers, very nice staff, great music and perfect vibe! One of my favourite places in Cardiff.

The great Queens Vaults, quite a massive chance since I first stepped foot in there over 30 years ago. Still attracts a good crowd, great selection of food & drink at reasonable prices too. A real gem in the City Centre.

A pub that is big on their Guinness branding, TV sport is a permanent fixture, a good choice or drinks on offer.

Most of the staff are lovely, but I've had multiple awful experiences with one of the male staff members in his twenties (I think his name is Ben) who says he's a manager. Extremely obnoxious and rude to my girlfriend on a number of occasions. My friends and a couple of other people have also mentioned similar things about him so I'm guessing he's known for it. Otherwise, a good pub with a few pools tables and a really good selection of still ciders for a decent price. It's such a shame because it used to be a regular spot for myself, my friends and my family, however, I feel so uncomfortable every time he's working now, so I no longer visit.

Excellently situated pub with many original Victorian features. Very large and spacious. Good selection of real ales. Decent enough typical pub grub menu. Dartboard and pool tables. Somewhat rowdy and loud with heavy metal rock vibe and theme going by the music. A good solid traditional no nonsense pub.

Always enjoy coming in here for a couple of games of pool with the boys whilst enjoying a cold pint. Bar staff are really friendly here, but shame about some of the locals, as you can tell its a local for some early risers/alcoholics lol. On the week day it's a lovely vibe, professionals, students, it has its mix.

One of my favourite local pubs. Great juke box. Fab, food at reasonable prices. Big screen for sports fans. Plus pool tables. Great atmosphere.

Very noisy when sat outside, but really not their fault. Inside seemed OK, but toilets where a bit rank to be honest! Beer was OK (not as good as my local but that's different), all in all, a decent place in the city centre for a pint! 🙂

Lovely traditional pub right in the heart of Cardiff. Drinks and food at sensible prices. I had the large Cod and chips (£8.99), which was a good portion and with a small salad. Fish was beautifully cooked and I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the chips were....- looked fresh, not frozen. My one 'down' comment is that the food came with sachets of vinegar/salt/sauces etc.......I think they could use proper condiments!

  • 3/5 Mahath M. 2 years ago on Google
The prices are okay. The staff was friendly. Only thing I felt they could improve was the cleanliness. The glass I was served beer in didn't look clean and smelled funny. The sanitizer dispenser was also empty. Could be just a day's thing, but yeah that's how it was for me. Cheers!

Good city centre pub conveniently located for a well deserved time out of shopping being slightly away from the crowds. The ales and bitters are well kept - and they have boxed ciders behind the bar which are worth trying. We didn't eat there but the menu looked extensive and there were quite a few people eating so must be good.

A chilled atmosphere, friendly staff and a very reasonably priced selection of food and drink. Unfortunately their only non-alcoholic beer is heineken 0%, but they redeem themselves with their food menu (their 16 ounce steak is usually spot on!)

Friendly attitude, amazing atmosphere A lot of different beer brands - local, british, american, belgian, delicious IPAs The food was delicious Seriously the best British pub I have ever visited

  • 5/5 Alan C. 1 year ago on Google
Having been here several times over the years I really like this pub, it's got a traditional pub atmosphere with a "rock/metal" theme from the jukebox. There are pool tables and darts and the drinks are reasonably priced. I've eaten here a few times mostly when it's the carvery and thought the food was tasty, the portion sizes were good and at a similar levels to others pubs that offer carverys. The staff are always friendly and you usually don't have to wait too long to be served even when it's busy. Definitely recommend if you like more of a traditional pub atmosphere.
