Disappointing visit. Waited too long at the bar to be served. Bar was dirty and too many flies. Ordered food. No onion rings . Had to seek at cutlery etc.. Didn't have full menu. My friend ordered a burger after other options unavailable. Was then told no burger after I had nearly finished. He had to go to the chippy on the way home. Staff not helpful. Won't be going back.

Wow! Decorations with many flags, clean, few massive tv to watch sports, impressive new garden with lot of space. Very friendly and polite staff and management. Disable access available with a decent size toilet area. Very clean in and out. Delicious food. Well done all!

Food was good, ordered drinks with it on their app. After my food arrived I went to the bar to say I'd paid for drinks but not received them. I was told "it's easier if you just come here because we don't look at tickets if it's busy" in a rather dismissive tone. Took a little while for them to get me my drinks. Not sure why you use app if staff are openly ignoring the orders customers are paying for. Food good, service meh, staff a little rude

Great for watching sport. (Best venue in Cardiff for number of screens and pool tables) Not so great for beer. They occasionally have a cask on, but usually only one, and it's a massive place. Basic lagers and ciders. Decent crowd though. Total mix of students, locals, young, old... down-to-earth but not rough, and the snug is a lovely place to have a meal. (Unfortunately the food menu is as imaginative as the drinks) When it's sunny, the back garden is an absolute sun trap... I would advise any gentleman to make sure they go to the loo before they come out though, or bring a pair of crocs if you catch my drift.

My regular pub. Me and my friends always meet here for wine ๐Ÿท. Our favourite is the Gitto we love sitting in the beer garden is so pretty and good atmosphere. We usually go in the week as weekends it tends to be very busy and difficult to get seating if you want to eat but on a plus they have live brands and is a great place to start your night out. They have big screens inside and out so good for match day. They have several pool tables. The food is typical pub food but I do love the katsu chicken and itโ€™s good value for money. They also do 20% student discount on food and drinks so canโ€™t go wrong

Great experience this evening in this lovely pub. I'm relatively new to the area and not a regular in The Claude, however the staff were so friendly and welcoming that it made the atmosphere very relaxing and enjoyable. Thank you so much and looking forward to having a few more IPA's here soon hopefully.

A really cosy pub where the staff go out of their way for you. I really can't complain about this pub: the prices on both beers and food are fantastic, the atmosphere has been brilliant whenever I have been in, and the staff always do their best for you. Also there are so many screens for watching sports if that floats your boat, and a lovely space outside if you just want to enjoy the summer air.

Good place to watch sport and nice atmosphere. They were reluctant/unable to split the rugby and football over multiple screens which was a shame Bigger shame was insistence that my friend had to remove his cap. I understand they are entitled to enforce whatever policy they like but we were in no way causing trouble we were sitting quietly and eating. And the doorman who came on shift whilst we were there had a hat on, which seems counterintuitive. More pressingly the all day breakfast I had was cold, overcooked and very disappointing.

We met up with family for Birthday celebrations. We haven't been to the Claude for a while due to a change in location but the meals and staff were both outstanding. Lunchtime meals, meal deals and the seniors deals were incredibly good value for money. It was the best pub lunch I've had in a long while. All the partie were very happy. Staff were really attentive and pleasant. A very enjoyable experience. Thank you to all.

The Claude is a very popular pub with an amazing outdoor area. There is an under cover section and an open section both with screens for sport. The screen in the open section is absolutely huge. The food is really good too. This is our go to pub and never disappoints

We had booked a table for 15 people in October, when we arrived we were told there were no kitchen staff in, so we're unable to have a meal. Not a great way to run a pub, as if it wasn't for our party the place was dead. The Claude lost out on a lot of money for a Wednesday from us

Out of Guinness on a regular basis even though its advertised everywhere! and sometimes only lager & cider available. Similar story with the food. There's also a barmaid who likes to wedge the doors open on freezing cold nights. Have vacated to other pubs as a result

I've not been here in a long while and it tells! It's massively changed all for the best, and the outdoors area is very well set up, with lots of heaters to keep you warm on a chilly, wet day/night.

As always with leaving a review I can only relate my own experience. I popped in for a sly one whilst my clothes were in a washing machine at the launderette a few minutes up the road. (And came back whilst they were in the drier, and again after I'd recovered my laundry) Every single member of staff was absolutely on point, friendly, helpful in any possible way I could ask. Excellent experience, many thanks.

Efficient. Cheap. Tasty. Best pub we went to in Cardiff. Wish we had gone earlier. Both massive meals pictured were under 15 quid with a blur light card.

Food was cold, staff rude and very abrupt! There were only 15 people in the bar, so not a busy Monday. Ordered two courses from the seniors menu, 11 of us in total. Food arrived cold. We asked another table who were eating about their food, also cold and commented that they would not be going there again. Waited an hour for puddings and two of our group waited more! Looking elsewhere to go on a Monday every week

Strange seating areas, some seats with cushions that are unneeded. Other tables had benches that were near impossible to pull out. Changed seats three times, then got settled. It was very busy and food orders were behind .... however, when our meals arrived ( senior 2-course meals ) they were delicious. Well worth the money! And the waitress was great ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ˜‰ Will definately visit again when in the area. Recommended!

Visited on a match day, everyone in the pub wanted to watch the same match and a number of people asked if the same match could be played throughout the pub but the bar staff said no. Had a lot of people leave because of this and the ones left were crampt in. Know your audience that nice you annoyed people and lost a fair amount of business. Food was ok

The Claude is a good pub, whether you are on your own or in company. The age range is well balanced, however at weekends it is a younger crowd. During the day, it's a great pub for families and dog owners. I've given no stars for 'food' because I've never eaten there. (I live less than a 5 minute walk from the pub.)

Great place with amazing food. Bouncers are horrible and ruin everything. They need to be sacked!! Would be 5 stars if they had decent bouncers that werenโ€™t stuck up!

Came for a festive lunch in a large group last Sunday, Wow, food was Amazing, staff as always warm and welcoming, nothing is ever to much trouble, the new assistant manager was superb, what an amazing team they have, would highly recommend the Claude to everyone

Even though the advertisings shows students discount. To get a student discount we have to get a limited discount card issued by the pub it seems. So it's a marketing gimmick. Putting aside the students discount, the place is nice and spacious. Drinks are good too.

Great pub clearly pupular with the students. Also really enjoyed. The staff very friendly. Felt sorry for the girl behind the bar she looked worn out and was very who looked worn out, made me a pot of tea as I'm not a drinker and then my friend asked her to look for crisps which they had run out of... it was, of course, busy busy as it was match night on Thursday wales v Austria. I'd definitely return. Well done

This pub is just round the corner from my home and since moving in Iโ€™ve enjoyed everything from a quiet pint after work to a big night out. No matter what the circumstance, the staff are amazing, friendly and professional. The atmosphere on a live music night is incredible. The team here have worked hard to get rid of an outdated view of The Claude and honestly as a local itโ€™s my go to without question. Donโ€™t listen to outdated negative reviews this place is a gem and you should give it a visit!

I have come to The Claude on many occasions for food. The senior meal offers they have are excellent and the food is always impeccable. We always have wonderful service whilst here, especially from Beth. Nothing seems like trouble and she is always willing to assist me.

A nice Greene King pub. The staff were excellent and helpful, being highly efficient while remaining polite and friendly, especially on a Football World Cup night match. The selection of Alcohol is about standard for a Greene King pub, but they have some good chefs in the kitchen handling food. Being situated where it is, it gets a good amount of both locals and visitors creating a great atmosphere where both groups can feel comfortable.

Great night out at the Claude. Food was impeccable and the music was brilliant

Lack of good ale selection. Had issues with lager tasting funny. Live music often way too loud. 3 Poole tables is a good plus though.

Original rating was an accident. Had a great time here, excellent friendly service. The beer garden is incredible. It even has a game machine under cover, which I won ยฃ70on, The bar staff were more than happy to change my ยฃs to notes too.

I've been a visitor of the Clause for nearly 30 years and I absolutely love the place, always a great atmosphere, big place with 3 pool tables, stage for entertainment, booths, bar tables and comfy seats, beer garden with under roof heating. Worth a visit.

Very disappointed as I'm from Bristol and my friend is from Scotland and always come to the Claude for a meal when I'm in wales becuase the pub is dog friendly. But on this occasion the doormen refused us entry at 630pm on a sat evening because we were wearing tracksuit trousers and trainers, I appreciate this fact but it's a sports bar and not a nightclub, and it was suitable clothing for a day out with the puppy and we were only wanting to sit in the lounge to eat and I don't even drink alcohol. Sadly it was a bad end to a real nice day out.

Sometimes pop on here for lunch. Typical pub. Meals are okay, have had a couple of issues with undercooked meat, but have had some lovely meals too. If you're in the area, they do music in the evenings sometimes, haven't been to these though.
