Visited the Crwys a few times whilst living in Cardiff for the pub quiz on Thursdays and football on the weekends. Was served by a lovely bloke called Zach I believe when I was last in, best pint of Guinness I've seen poured in Wales. Will definitely be returning soon for another pint!

The brains smooth is one of the nicest beers in the area. I would highly recommend visiting this place to have their amazing food. Large portions, fresh ingredients and a great vibe are a the key highlights. Parking is available in plenty nearby and the staff are super well trained and polite. Great selection of whiskey as well. Don't miss the hunters chicken

Carrots had an aftertaste of soap, ultimate chicken burger was missing gravy dip and burger sauce. Horseradish was missing from Sunday dinners. Hunters chicken wasn’t smothered in bbq sauce, it had a tiny bit. Slim selection of soft drinks - was told only Diet Coke was available. Everyone who severed us seemed quite unhappy to be there. Pots or sauce were tiny. Nice atmosphere outside with good tables and chairs.

They didn’t let us in because we were a group of 10 playing pub golf. We were only just starting so all sober and not loud or anything and as soon as one person walked in they said they will refuse to serve pub golf. Not ideal as it messed up our plans. Wouldn’t go there again.

Welcoming, friendly service, delicious food, and my favorite beer on tap. Special thanks to Luke who made this an enjoyable experience. I look forward to a return visit.

This is the best pub in Cardiff: no question. Never had a bad experience here, and I doubt I ever will. I’ve been coming here for three years now and every time reminds me why I do. The landlord, Danny, is an absolute legend. The staff are brilliant too.

The best pub to go in Cardiff, amazing roasts, friendly staff and always guaranteed to be a good time! Danny the landlord always goes out of his way to make sure everyone is enjoying themselves. Spend most weekends here!

Booked at the Crwys for a Christmas meal for over 30 people, the service was amazing. The food was very good, everything run smoothly and the staff was really accommodating. They even allowed us to use the pub microphone for our Christmassy quiz! Thank you again for a lovely evening and service

Great new food at the Cryws! We had the new veggie burger which was so tasty for the veggies. The ultimate spicy burger had a good kick to it and the sides were eaten very quick! Really friendly staff and great atmosphere for the footy.

Fine but the whole pub reeks of cigarette smoke and the drinks are too expensive. They used to do vegan fish and chips but they seem to have taken it off the menu and the vegan food options now leave a lot to be desired. Staff were all great.

We use this pub quite often. We arrived early this day, this wasn't a problem, our table was ready and we were able to eat earlier. The staff are friendly and accommodating. There is a wide selection of drinks. The beer garden is great if we have the weather. The areas including the toilets are clean and well kept. There is a good selection of food on the menu. The food is always superb and of a high quality in taste and presentation. Food and drink is reasonably priced. Definitely the best pub in that area at the moment.

I was able to book a table beforehand via the website easily. We were welcomed with a smile on entering the premises, a reservation placard had been placed on our table to inform other guests the area had been taken. Ordering food and drinks was a delightful experience with a friendly barman and an extensive menu. The food was delicious and served in a timely manner by another happy staff member. Checks were made to see if we were content with the meal and we were said goodbye to on leaving. The entire end-to-end journey of the Crwys was magnificent and we look forward to returning.

When my friends and I go out for dinner at The Hellenic, we always meet at The Crwys an hour beforehand for a quick drink. The Guinness is excellent and the atmosphere very informal with sport on the TV screens. Staff very friendly and efficient, prices what you would expect for a good, traditional local pub. There is an outstanding beer garden for when the weather warms up, which is spacious, clean and comfortable. We've never eaten at The Crwys but the food we've seen waft past us in the waiting staffs hands looks fresh and generous. It's a cracking pub!

It's good. It's a bit grubby though. The food is ok. Nothing to sing about. The place could do with a overhaul. And the glasses certainly need a better clean before serving to the customers.

The Crwys hosted us on 14/12 for our run club Xmas meal and party. Everything was brilliant: The space set aside for us. Really nice venue and table arrangements. The food - brilliant. Speed of service - I don't know how they managed to do it so well. Staff - all of them super friendly and helpful. The Crwys really didn't put a foot wrong here. Massive thanks to them for such a good night from everyone Albany Road Run Club. Dave club coach

Had fish and chips and a beer. Food was good. The guy(kid) at the bar counter didn't know how to do tap beer. Ruined my beer but didn't want to do a bad rating just because of him.

Great pub!! Food was lovely and staff was great. The landlord was apparently on holiday so we dealt with the Assistant manager Teresa who was absolutely amazing!! We’ll definitely be back again soon!!!! Thanks all 👍🏼

Would definitely recommend, had a really fun time at the quiz. When there was a mixup with our food (which was still delicious!!) Zach was extremely helpful in getting it sorted out. Will definitely be coming again!

Called in after arecommendation from a friend in the area as we aint feom here12/11/23 2 steak meals ordered.. paid extra for chips. Then had to go back as they forgot them 1 steak was meant to be medium rare but was cold inside so sent back the 2nd steak as pictured was ordered well done but as you can see still quite pink.. no mushrooms when asked they didn't have any, but wasn't told prior to ordering peas like bullets and cold.. not value for mk ey as the portions are more for a teenager size.. most of the steak wasted as very tough. Wouldn't recommend this place at all.

I've been coming here for the pub quiz every Thursday for are two years. The atmosphere is amazing and the quiz is great (even though my team normally comes last). The food is delicious and I highly recommend either the burger or the mac and cheese. The staff are also lovely and incredibly friendly. They'll happily chat with you and are just generally welcoming.

Been living in Cardiff for 6 years and The Crwys is my favourite pub in the whole city. Staff are really friendly and drinks/food lush. We come to the pub quiz every Thursday and Darren is a LEGEND!!! Hopefully one day we’ll come first rather than fourth place every week! ❤️❤️

All the bar staff are lovely and polite. You are guaranteed good food that arrives in a decent amount of time. Pub quiz on thursdays is always fun with a mix of quesrions for the different generations.

This place has something wonderful in the air. It may be the joy of the customers, the smell of the delicious food in the breeze or the fruity smell of cider or all of the above. Tis truly amazing.

A member of staff in particular was very rude on every interaction with separate people from our group. Made orders wrong then refused to acknowledge it and blamed customer, was rude to kids from another table, etc. It's a shame because otherwise it's a really nice and friendly pub.

    Nice meeting place, good food

  • 4/5 Roland C. 2 years ago on Google
The place seems to now be owned by Marston but uses the Brains ordering website. If this proves to be a problem, you can still order verbally from the table. There are a number of keg and mixed-gas "smooth" beers but fortunately they still serve traditional SA and SA Gold, even though not up to the standard of the original St. Mary St. brew.

Nice pub with a great beer garden. Wine could have been a bit more chilled, would have given a 5 otherwise.

The staff are so lovely and always greet me with a smile and a hello. They are the most friendliest bunch of staff I have ever met and will do anything for you. The food is incredible taste and price and have a wide selection. Truly the best! Massive shout out to Teresa and Danny (and all other staff) you have made my second year of uni the best

Held a gathering for family and friends recently at this pub. The staff were very accommodating, particularly Teresa and the team. The venue was warm and friendly, Teresa and staff went above and beyond to make our special occasion just what we wanted and more. Thank You

What a place, Sunday nights are just the greatest. Can think of anywhere I would rather be. Every time I walk through the door and see Mikes amazing smile (second only to the beauty on the back of his head) I just instantly have a great day. I live only to go to the Crwys to crunch some sunflower seeds and see the best barman to have ever used oxygen for aerobic exercise, Mike

Been here a couple of times for lunch, always had a lovely meal with great service. Light and airy with big beer garden. Clean toilets, bar mats on the tables. Would recommend a visit. Update.(May 2021).First visit to any pub since the madness of the last year..booked a table on line, which was easy to do. Hand sanitizer on way in and greeted by a friendly member of staff who explained the one way system, how to order using the app(which I had to download) and showed us to our table. App easy to use, we ordered food and drinks, which were all delivered promptly. I did see one or two people go to the bar and return with drinks so that must still be an option. Toilets have a dial on the outermost door which you turn to engaged as you enter and vacant when you leave so only one person at a time. Food was hot and tasty.

Cracking place. Clean, tidy, and wonderful staff. I ordered and paid for a round of drinks, and the staff were prepared to deliver to our table while I was 'elsewhere'. Thank you.

Was pouring down so came in unplanned, pleasantly surprised by great selection of food + drink, hugely grateful to the front of house staff Zach who made us feel welcome right from the start! I’ll keep this place in mind for my next Wales trip, glad to have discovered it 😎👍 cheers 🍻

I went here for the football and was pleasantly surprised! I thought the Crwys would be just another pub but boy was I wrong. I had not only the best night at a pub I've ever had, I had the best night of my life here. Beers, burgers and banter. What else can I say? I would also like to make a special mention to the wonderful Zach behind the bar who serves a pint better than Federer serves a ball. Would definitely recommend, 10/10. If only I could give it 6 stars!
