We were seated immediately with no fuss and had our drinks quickly thereafter. The food was also beautiful and served quickly. There was an incident where two rowdy males tried to ignite a situation with me and another guest with me. We didn't even need to complain, before we were even able to, the problem was handled and the rowdy guys were asked to drink up and leave. It was the first time anywhere that the staff stepped in without being asked to. It was really comforting. Also got to cuddle a staff members sausage dogs so that was great. 10/10 staff and service.

While visiting the area to go to the Fforest Fawr down the road, my son had booked us a table for some lunch. The staff greeted us with a smile ( under the mask ) and took us to our table. Oh lovely , right next to the log burner, so toasty warm. Orders where taken and within a short while our drinks were served. No bother at all the fact we had Uther the golden retriever with us. Very dog friendly pub with bowls of water set out around the premises for them . Not to much later and our very reasonably priced meals arrived. gammon for me , Hake Goujohns , and seasonal burger for son and his wife. All looked amazing with very large portions of FRESH chips, not frozen rubbish and accompanying sides. Well to compare to the other place we went boxing day , twice as nice for half the price. Such a nice clean place, friendly staff and fire to boot. Loads of parking in a large carpark at the back. I paid a visit to the ladies on my way out, which where clean , fresh and nicely decorated. Disabled toilet available and ramp up to the pub from both entrances. There's a charge point for phones where you can lock it in a box while it charges too.. Well worth another visit. X

Excellent lunchtime food and service. Five of us, all were very happy with the quality and taste of the dishes. We never understand why few places though don't seem to serve much veg.

We went for a nice walk and arrived here. Nice warm decor and welcoming staff, great place for a drink. The food was pleasant, for similar meals we have paid less. Chips were very nice, I did enjoy the veggie lasagne though some of the salad was on the turn (see picture), my friend felt the chilli could have had more heat.

Decent home cooked food. Never had a bad meal. Best Sunday dinner I’ve had and I’ve had a few! Service can be a bit slow sometimes (due to busyness) but always pleasant staff.

A very welcome pitstop during a long hike. Warm open fire which was very welcome on a cold day. The pub itself appeared very smart, clean and tidy, and the barmaid was friendly. Although I only stopped for a refresher, I would definitely consider coming again, and a worthwhile stop for some decent pub food. Worth mentioning, I'm not sure if dogs are allowed in, but they did appear to have a cat living in the pub...

An incredible pub. Though I strongly recommend you book a table in advance. Dogs are welcomed. The food is wonderful. Beef brisket we had.. superb. Staff attentive, be warned busy, so be patient and politeness to the Staff doesn't cost anything!!!

Never been here before but I will definitely go again. Popped in with my husband and our friend hoping to get a warm bowl of soup. We were served a bowl of the best soup I've had in a long time. It was absolutely delicious and served with a good chunk of warm and crusty bread. The service was fast and friendly and the pub was lovely and warm. I highly recommend this pub.

Lovely friendly staff and very welcoming. It was also nice and warm on a cold evening trying to find somewhere new to eat. Dishes were substantial however the menu is quite limited.

Haven't been there for a few years we had Sunday roast. 2 brisket beef 2 turkey all 4 absolutely beautiful, yorkies spot on. Our 2 teenagers had desert, waffle and sticky toffee pudding both said was lovely. 10 out of 10 won't be leaving it a few years again!!!

Absolutely gorgeous food. Staff were amazing and so accomadating to the point where they brought out to utterly mutterly'a for the dogs we had with us. 10/10 highly recommend. Brilliant menu with lots of choice

We stopped here halfway through a long walk for lunch. Really nice place with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The staff were great and the majority of the food was very good. Would recommend the goats cheese starter and fish cake starter, my wife had a jacket potato for main which she enjoyed. The only issue was my chicken burger, the meat was solid and quite rubbery which put me off eating most of it, the accompaniments were nice as well as the salad and sauce. I think the burger was a one off so will try something else next time. Reasonably priced.

Great country pub with outstanding food. The staff were amazing and very friendly. I definitely recommend the Caprese Burger, it comes with the most delicious homemade pesto. A must go to place!!

Went on Easter Sunday. The meal I chose was roast beef dinner and I was not disappointed. My mother has dementia and eats quite little, they have a child portion on an adult plate so she wouldn't notice. Lovely staff.

Location was lovely but food was what I can only describe as cafe quality, not what I expected compared to other venues. We had to keep going to the bar to ask for drinks and deserts rather than someone coming to be table. I hope they can improve the food quality and staff a bit more attentive as the location deserves it.

Nestled amonst gorgeous ancient woodland, this pub is a bit of a gem. Certainly could do with getting more local beers in (the closest was Cornwall!) but the garden was a welcome stop off route on our hiking journey! Staff were especially friendly and helpful. Would certainly recommend if you find yourself in this part of the world.

Stopped off for a drink and lunch on a hike around Caerphilly mountain. 10 of us just dropped in, were made very welcome despite other bookings they fitted us in. Really good soup and great beer.

Not a bad little pub. First impressions reasonably clean but when we took menus out of the menu holder on the table quite a few spiders ran for the hills! Food OK. Fishcake deep fried to oblivion but the gammon steak was nice even if the chips were soggy and oily. Cheesecake was lovely because it was shop bought. Service very slow but felt sorry for the staff as one was learning and the other trying to manage both bars and the food service. They were both lovely girls and were coping well under pressure. Whilst waiting to pay had a good view of the kitchen. Rubbish and food all over the floor, dirty dishes and a filthy broom! And as we were standing there the hygiene inspector was attempting to get access to the kitchen. All in all not bad for the price but probably wont be going back.

Speed here for a bite to eat and drink. Ordered a few different plates to share was lovely. Very welcoming as well and a lovely pint. Planning on heading back to try the menu further.

Lovely local pub. Very friendly and helpful, but unfortunately the vegetarian food option is horrendous. I ordered 2 Moving Mountain veggie burgers for £12 each. What you get is an oversized sesame bun (oversized as the burger patty is the size of a small child's hand), one slice of processed cheese and a hint of burger sauce. Served with this little bit of burger is a tiny bit of coleslaw and a handful of fish shop tasting greasy chips. I do not know how the rest of their food is, but if you are vegetarian do not try this, as the moving mountain certainly doesn't move any mountains

Great, dog friendly pub. Good range of drinks and a great, varied menu. Prices are reasonable and atmosphere is welcoming. Staff are really lovely. A genuinely great country pub. Throughly enjoyed my meal there.

Lovely pub. Friendly and helpful staff. Disappointed with meal. Please revert to thick home made chips, rather than those thin pale looking chips. Also bit more salad would be nice. Encourage healthier Eating

Used to be one of our favourite local country pubs with amazing food. Today we were greet by a very unhappy waiter who looked like was working there as a punishment. He took us to the table and left for over 10 minutes without asking anything and not even looking at us. After that time we just decided to go to another local place. Really shame as we really enjoyed your food and service in the past..

Wow, what a welcome and incredible food. The place was really busy, we hadn't booked, but a table was found. The front of staff were so welcoming and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. We had the steak from the specials board, which was served with tomatoes, mushrooms macaroni cheese and chips. The steak had been cooking for hours. The taste was amazing and the knife slid through the steak like butter. We had the beef dripping gravy as a side, which was delicious. Portions are huge. Cannot recommend this place enough. It was our first visit and will definitely return

Shame that the service is so poor as the location is beautiful. Out away from busy traffic was pleasant to sit on the beaches outside in the summer. However, ordered a meal before took very long to arrive very small portion for a steep price. Seating area cramped and dirty, sticky tables and dead flies on window sills. Only recently last year went for basic tea the cup came dirty asked for another, yet again dirty! And no teaspoon was given. Staff didn't seem to be bothered.

Nice place. Clean tidy and friendly hospitality team. Food was OK , typical pub food. I have food allergies and usually get vegan when I'm out to avoid any issues so my menu options are usually limited. They had a few nice options for vegans but sadly some where not available as they have run out of some vegan foods. Will visit again if in the area.

Lovely Sunday roast, good choice, had the vegetable tart which was gorgeous!! All the vegetables were cooked perfectly and there was plenty of them. Loved having swede as you don't see much of it!! We all enjoyed it and it was fantastic value....the staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble....can't wait to return. Thank you...

A little cosy pub restaurant with super friendly customer service. I had the nicest service received from ieuan, he really accommodated me and my hubby. He even got the chef to prepare me a pie I wanted after I was told they had ran out. I totally recommend visiting this lovely place! Lushest deserts also ❤

I stopped by here to get a quick bite to eat while working, the staff were excellent, the food didn't take long, and the chips were the best I've had for some time! I'd happily visit again.
