Nice well run Wetherspoons pub. The Staff are all pleasant and welcoming. Food was good, as are the prices. Nice community feel.

Cheap, sticky tables, uninspiring menu. A fairly dull place with the only redeemable feature being the customers. Many seem to live there, drinking from breakfast to last orders. This, of course, provides a great people-watching opportunity, if that is your thing.

Coffee was served in a dirty cup with lipstick on it. Asked for it to be changed and was given a flat white that was basically just hot water 🙄 Asked for another and that was no better. It was a shame really because the breakfast was ok and the staff were pleasant.

Disappointed that they didn't have the American breakfast nice enough breakfast but when having a grilled tomato why is it always served raw and cold yuk ! And beans were dried out ! And why do eggs always get placed near beans hate them touching ! Nice place though friendly capable staff

If I could give a zero I would. Waited 1 hour for a large breakfast, pancakes and some toast. With a 5 and 7 year old in tow. The service was appalling. No apology. Not bothered I'd been waiting that long . Shockingly poor. Just a refund on the meal and that was that. Won't be going back again

Exactly what you would expect from Wetherspoons. Good value for money and good sized portions. We used the App to order; it worked perfectly. The food came out hot and the wait was short.

Went in early for breakfast before it looked like a thriller video outtake which I would totally recommend to anybody not wanting to surround themselves with dying alcoholics. Crispy bottomed eggs with runny yolks, normal looking toast, a nice single malt on the side and insipid coffee rendered palatable by the addition of an espresso into the standard black coffee. Tidy way to start the day. I just spoke to nationwide. The complaint I raised and time I've wasted chasing it up since has done nothing to inspire confidence in them. Nothing to do with wetherspoons of course, but I'm using this opportunity to slag them off because they're incompetent mongoloids. Thank you

Love the lunchtime panini from Wetherspoons new Christmas menu. Chicken, stuffing, bacon & cranberry panini under £5 with a soft drink.

Breakfast wasn't very good to be honest. Free refills on the coffee was the only thing that kept me there for a long period. Service and cleaning was exceptional 👌

It's a regular Wetherspoons food and drink service, so good value as usual. The location on Penarth main shopping street means the few tables out on the pavement are plagued by the pubs regular smokers.

Great atmosphere at the bears head and staff are very efficient and friendly. But unfortunately the standard of the food recently is very poor . I use this place to meet up with friend and have food once a week but I think we will be looking for a different place to eat in future. May they have changed cooks ?

No butter on the toast but still a good brunch. Polite staff and free refills. Dont forget your local independent business. They need your help

Had a nice meal with friends but sat upstairs and melted in the heat and I couldn't get out of there quick enough. (Exceptionally hot weather though to be honest)

Waited 3/4 hour for food. When it did arrive the starters and mains all came together??? There was a row of staff all holding a dish?? Told them to return with freshly made mains and not heat up in microwave which is what they had done on a previous occasion. There were 4 young boys as staff. Everything they done was in 2's?? Cleaning tables etc. Mostly chatting having a good laugh in the corner and ignoring customers. One lady was working hard. she has been there a while and was doing all the work.

Busy place but you don't have to wait long for food. As with all the wetherspoons pubs it's good value. Food better on this visit than previous visit.

Friendly, clean public house. Limited parking outside, so best arrive on foot. Quick service with great food.

Bit better than your standard spoons, cheap and cheerful service and looks fairly recently refurbished if not then it's just well kept.

Nice enough place staff very good beer very reasonable and lots of choices haven't tried the food but the menu looked good was expecting a more older fashioned type of pub but it is okay.tried the food and it's okay for a pub but the beer is good especially at under £2 a pint

As a Spoons fan, it was disappointing that there was no fish on Friday afternoon. But had to ask twice for the table to be cleaned from mess when we arrived. Should be done as a matter of course and quite simple really. Burger was good. Been back recently, great steak, good beers as ever..

Great local bar with good food and a good selection of beers and spirits. The pub is split over two floors with front and rear outdoor seating. There is no car park but ample on road parking outside.

First visit here, was okay used the app to order this is always easy, it was steak club night so great, ordered the upgraded sirloin, came with a sauce, mushroom and onion rings, partner had the large mixed grill. Food came and unfortunately for me my medium steak was a bit too rare, I usually have m/r in most places, partners meal was fantastic Spoke to the duty manager when we were about ready to go, who agreed it was a bit too bloody, he did offer a dessert but as i said we were ready to go. Possibly a one off and I was the unlucky one.

The jdw is shocking they have not a clue what they our doing . Plus you work shifts and this company only pay you part you worked . Worked for them for a short time and very glad . I worked my weeks notice. And still have only been payed for the 3 shifts instead of the 5 I have worked they owe me monies.

Fabulous! Very accommodating and welcoming staff, friendly punters too. Pristine toilets! Best spoons I've been to in a long time 👍👍

Came in last Saturday around 5.30pm and asked young male server about the vegan menu. He looked confused and I informed that I usually have the vegan pizza. He told me that they do not sell vegan pizza. We left and went over the Bay and of course we had the pizza. You need to train the staff about what you actually sell!

A lovely pub in the centre of Penarth, complete with one hundred tables and two floors. As for what The Bears head offers they provide a wide variety of drinks and food, with one exception... No pizza! The Lack of the notorious cheesy tomato baked flat bread and bad lighting in booths one are my only qualms with the franchise. Other than that the staff are fairly polite and keep the establishment clean and tidy, whilst bringing beverages and food at a reasonably quick pase. Overall a great place to meet up with friends (as long as they are not craving pizza) and enjoy an refreshing pint! Four out of Five stars... Chris P Bacon

Visited for breakfast. Hand sanitiser had run out at front door. Coffee is from a machine, ok but not the best. Was however piping hot. Breakfast, mushrooms were literally stone cold and rest of breakfast barely lukewarm. Very disappointed.

Better than the average weatherspoons, not the quickest service, but friendly, and the food was nice, menu felt a bit slim for a weatherproof, but couldn't fault the quality of the food

On the plus side, freindly staff and quick service via app, but the beers, a pint of Rhymney and pint of Doombar were both dissapointing.

Had a pint of Bud Light, one mouthful and it tasted like cleaning fluid (not that I know whst cleaning fluid tastes like lol) but a real chemical taste. It was changed without any problem.

Excellent Fish & Chips served by a charming waitress. Great deal delivered within ten minutes in a safe and quiet atmosphere. Thank you for a super experience. Might I suggest that in order to compliment the individual staff for their service, Wetherspoons offer staff name badges.

👍👍 The custom house is one of my favourite places to eat out in cardiff, I love the Sunday roast and for the quality and service I think it is good value. Perfect place for a celebration! Every time I have been it has been busy the atmosphere is bustling but the food has always been quick but not rushe...
