I always stay at this Holiday Inn when I'm around this area, the rooms are of a great size and standard and quite comfortable. The shower facilities are very powerful and great if you need a massage. Food is pretty good to with a good variety. Location wise it's opposite the Castle and central park and a stones throw to the city shops. The rugby stadium is behind and it over looms the river.

Location is excellent. Rooms are a bit tired but big and spacious. Bathroom is tiny and really not up to the job. Breakfast was fine with a good cooked breakfast but very busy so worth going early to avoid the crowds at the toaster. It was very clean but the whole place could do with a makeover/refresh. Parking on site is handy but hellishly expensive.

The room was a little dusty. Curtains let light in as threads were worn in some spots. The plug in the sink didn't prevent water escaping. There was cables trailing on the floor in the hallway to the room. The bar and restaurant are pricey. And it wasn't until we checked in that we were informed the whole hotel is cashless. But.....the location was fantastic. Most of the staff were polite, welcoming and friendly.

We stayed at the holiday inn Cardiff city centre for 1 night. It was a mid week stay and one of convenience as we had tickets to ColdPlay at the stadium just adjacent from the hotel. The room was clean and in an ideal location. However I cannot fathom how a hotel with this poor standard of room can charge just shy of £400 for one night - no extras. The room was so outdated. Old bed furniture, stained ripped curtains, water marks on the ceilings. TV stuck on one channel and no convenient plug sockets. Cold shower, no conditioner. We had to pay £15 to park the car and would have cost us a further £20 for breakfast. If we had paid for breakfast this would have meant the full hotel stay would be more the £400. Which in the current climate I would say is daylight robbery. For context this room would cost £116 on a non event day. I’m disappointed that Holiday Inn are cashing on events and not upgrading the standard of room. I will not be booking to stay with this company again.

The room was big and spacious but not the one I expected. The bathroom was inadequate and cramped. The loo pan was cracked and it wasn’t easy getting in and out of the bath/shower. I need of an upgrade I think. For this we money I would expect a better bathroom. And for this money I expect curtains that aren’t ripped and better placed sockets. Parking on site is useful but expensive. Breakfast was nice enough but when customers are using their fingers go select items from the hot buffet you wonder why staff aren’t saying something to them. On Monday morning the hot Buffett had yesterday’s sausages on it which were cold inside and rock hard on yhe outside. The hash browns were rubbery on the Monday too. Suspect recycling going on. Also the first hotel I’ve stayed in for a while that offers tea making in the room but no biscuits Staff were helpful and friendly and the location is ideal. On check out I wasn’t asked if everything was ok. The air con was good and quiet. Bonus. I wasn’t informed d by the hotel about the road closures due to an event nor was I told how noisy it would be

Convenient location with great view of stadium & River Taff. Breakfast very good. Room quite small & lights have not been updated to LEDs (so do not leave bathroom lights on overnight as a night light). Old fashioned shower curtain over bath - minor flood, despite taking care to tuck curtain inside bath. Most places have now updated to a glass shower screen.

We just enjoyed a shared Christmas party at the hotel. We are a group of friends wanting a get together before Christmas. It was excellent value for money, the food was good and the staff and service was excellent. We all had a brilliant evening

We had a Christmas party night in Callaghans bar, it was £20 a head and we had the place to ourselves and I cant recommend this enough. The buffet was superb and there were plenty for the 60 of us. We also had a great DJ. Tommy and the team made it very easy for us to organise from the start and gave us 3 wrist bands for designated drivers so they could have complimentary soft drinks all evening. There was also 20% off at the bar which meant the drinks were very reasonably priced. The place was decorated lovely and all the staff and security made us feel very welcome and safe. Bit thank you to Tommy and the team for a fab night and everyone is keen to book next year :)

Fab staff and facilities. Food was tremendous as was the entertainment on sat night. Breakfast was the pick me up you need after a busy night playing. The food was smoking. Best bacon I've had this year. Eggs done to perfection. Smooth checkout by the cheerful reception team. Well done girls.

Had amazing experience with this hotel! The location is perfect, just one minute walk to the city centre and Cardiff castle. The room was spotless and comfy with great view. Would definitely stay here if i visit Cardiff again.

With any hotel experience it started in the lobby. The staff was quick and accommodating. The lobby itself was very clean and well decorated, led straight to the hotel bar and dining area which was massive. The rooms though we're not quite what I was expecting from such a strong entrance. Very basic and small, but being an American I might just be spoiled. The plugs they use are the three prong type G. The bathroom was bright but took a bit to figure out the water mixture for hot and cold. But boy are the tubs DEEP. But the real win and why I was excited is the vicinity to Cardiff Castle, just across the street. You also have a stadium right behind you and food, pubs and shopping are within walking distance.

The hotel got a great location, an amazing kitchen, and a very friendly staff. Perfect food. The problem is the rooms. The bathroom is so small, when you come out of the bath you have to watch not to step in the toilet. The furniture is battered, carpets are stained. Tho clean. Is a shame the hotel is so outdated, it doesn't correspond with the reception and restaurant area. Plus I could hear every door whack and elevator. Water was dripping all night on the window ledge, coz of the rain, hard to fall asleep.

Staff were all lovely and so helpful. In the best location if you are going to Principality Stadium. Loved the Harry Styles cut out in the lobby- very on theme. Room was small but did the job- the bed was comfortable and had most of facilities you would need. Attached photo is the view from the window.

The BEST hotel buffet breakfast ever with delightful, enthusiastic staff on hand if necessary. Our TV did not work so we were given an alternative, identical room with no problem. The hotel location opposite to Cardiff Castle was perfect.

Polite and friendly staff. Average rooms, but tidy and clean. No heating options, only fan speed adjustments, good bed covers which will keep you warm at night though. Only 2 power sockets in the whole room which causes a lot of inconvenience for 2 people staying there. A very very very basic hair dryer, an hour of "drying" only to walk away with wet hair, a waste of time and also a big inconvenience for women. Location is the best thing about this hotel, just a 5 minute walk from the centre, the Castle and the Principality Stadium, but I feel the prices were very exaggerated for the night of the Coldplay concert.

Upon arrival the reception staff member was very friendly, welcoming and efficient. Evening meal on first night was disappointing with very limited choices and one disinterested staff member. Breakfast choice was reasonable and cooked well. The rooms are well appointed and very comfortable and have great views of the Castle and accross the city. Its central location, adjacent to the city centre shops and restaurants and all the main tourist attractions make it an ideal choice for a short city break.

It’s an ok hotel. PROS: Great city centre location close to all amenities and in walking distance of most attractions in Cardiff. Staff are friendly. Nice bar and restaurant areas. Parking on site. Clean and tidy rooms. Views are lovely from the rooms. CONS: *Families with children be warned*. Not particularly family friendly. We are enjoying a quiet drink in the bar at 9.30pm (it was Boxing Day and empty) with family and the kids (all staying at the hotel as guests and playing quietly on phones we borrowed them) and staff came up to and said ‘sorry, the children have to leave at 10pm!’ We explained we were guests at the hotel and was told ‘sorry, it’s the hotels Policy?!’ What a ridiculous policy. We have stayed at many hotels and never been told such a policy before. If it’s a licence condition, apply to have it removed?! It’s a restaurant where families can telex together, not a nightclub! Also, £15 a night to park your car is very steep. Appreciate it’s a city centre location, but be mindful of this extra charge, particularly if you are paying an inflated price on an event day. Finally, rooms look pretty tired now and the hotel accommodation would benefit from a refurbishment.

The rooms are kept nice and clean, the bed was really comfortable and the bathroom although compact was spotless and had a lovely bath. Bar food menu was very good as was the range of alcohol to partake of. Service was excellent and food very tasty. The location is great for shopping and is very close to the castle, which is well worth a visit.

The hotel was nice, just what you expect from a Holiday Inn. Our room was spacious and a good view out of the window. The location was very good, super close to the Castle of Cardiff and many shops and restaurants.

Easy check-in, room available on arrival. Offered Front view of castle or Staduim. Choose front view. Easy Central location with (paid) carparking facility on site. Paid for breakfast on booking the room. Spacious dining room downstairs off a new bar area... Limited fresh fruit and cold meats on offer though. Cooked English was excellent. Service excellent from everyone at the hotel.

Standard Holiday Inn the rooms were clean and comfey beds with a great location, I would have given 5 but when you are forced to use card payments rather than given the choice I think this is very poor and excludes some people, cash was taken during the afternoon but not later on. I know it will be said, time to cash up safer no cash etc but a company should not dictate to its clients.

Great location near a beautiful park, castle, shopping centre, stadium. Had everything we needed in the room - plenty of toiletries, tea/coffee/chocolate - including a mars bar, tv, plenty of space, iron and ironing board and more. 😋. Our room overlooked the park and castle, including a lovely boat ride to the city centre.

Very good hotel next to principality stadium and to the Cardiff Castle. Few minutes walk to the main central street. 1 minute walk to pubs in a quite and safe area. Staff is really helpful and kind and the room very clean with some of them with a view to the river or the castle park and some others to the stadium.

Breakfast buffet in open plan area, at 0700 it was loud, chaotic and cramped. Not a relaxing start to the day. A bit later at 0830 less crowded but standard of food same. Scrambled eggs were hard, beans tasted like they had sugar mixed through & queue for toast conveyer was not worth the battle. Ordered room service one night, pizza was substandard, and sandwich not as described on menu. Both disappointing. Hotels redeeming quality is its location, and the reception staff. Staff elsewhere were hit and miss. Room had AC & window, so easy to regulate the temperature on hot days

Bit of a faded beast really, this Holiday Inn. Location is good, opposite the iconic Animal Wall, but the building itself is tired. It really showed in the lifts, which had a real 1960s vibe, and the car park facilities. Room was fine, with small fridge and complimentary Mars Bar. Top floor. Bar area decent but small for such a large hotel. Appears to have a Callaghan’s attached, but couldn’t see how to get into it. Hidden door, or closed? Becks on tap, anyway.

I have seen better budget hotels in my life wouldn’t recommend this one though Pros: when you walk into the lobby it has a nice feel typical holiday inn, the women at the front desk are very polite, especially the Greek one (I think she is Greek) she gives us the key card and I head up to my room good so far Cons: I walk into the room I think to myself this is okay I don’t really care I got the disabled room I sit on the bed and look for somewhere to plug my charger for my phone oh what’s that I say? There are only 3 sockets in the entire room? Surely one is by the bed? Nope. Ah the desk socket that’s surely free nope again it’s take by the empty mini fridge and the TV that’s doesn’t work the other socket is taken by the kettle are we expected to bring extension sockets? Also the wash glass in the bathroom was not cleaned like literally toothpaste on sides of the glass I will not return the room is cold there is no pool at this one and the room number is 217

Was OK. The whole place could do with updating. Tired looking. Bathroom was a odd layout. Better lighting and more plug sockets needed in the bedroom. Breakfast was excellent as were the staff

Very Dated rooms, various marks all over the walls tarnished old brass/good sockets have definitely seen better days. TV system didn't work, Door passes changes and replaced 3 times. Bit of a shambles really. Becks bier on draught was flat as a pancake.
