Small but mighty family run Italian in the heart of Cardiff. The food is authentic fresh & delicious and the staff are friendly and attentive. Its been around a long time and is still going strong for a reason 👌🏻recommended.

A small, but very vibrant independent restaurant nestled in the heart of Cardiff. We arrived at short notice with no booking and were accommodated with no issues by the staff, who were friendly, welcoming and very attentive throughout. The food was very traditional Italian fayre, and absolutely delicious, all for a very reasonable price. Would not hesitate to eat here again, although I would recommend booking in advance if you can.

My husband and I ate here recently we were visiting for a weekend, what a lovely place, everything was perfect, food superb, lovely staff. It took me back to holidays in Italy years ago. Will definitely be back here again soon. Great atmosphere too.

It is an institution in Cardiff for Italian food. You must go here if you want great Italian food. They are small and cozy but the food is so delicious. Everything we ate was spot on. We have been going here for so many years and it has never disappointed us. The food is fresh and tastes so good, it is always very generous with portions and the deserts are so amazing. We really enjoy our visits here and they give excellent service. The swordfish was tender and juicy, my chicken was juicy and the flavours were amazing. The pasta was so fresh and tasty. The starters the eggplant was very hot but the cheese and sauce was what you want. The Panna cotta was so smooth and rich, the berry sauce was sweet and flavorful. Just one annoying thing they gave us the bill for four people 102 pounds and than took it away and charged us more 111.20 I wasn't too impressed by this which was the only thing that let them down.

Best Italian restaurant in Wales and probably England too. Been coming here for 8 years and it is a joy every time. We love it here!

A lovely small intimate Italian restaurant located in a bustling side street ( Church Street ) in the heart of the City Centre Family run , the staff are super friendly and helpful and go out of their way to accommodate diner's requests. Genuine home cooked Italian cuisine which is simply mouthwateringly delicious and you will have to go a very long way to find better in the city centre Can get busy so reservations are recommended A fantastic restaurant for superb meal in a great atmosphere We recommend it !

Visited here last night after hearing many, many strong recommendations and they absolutely did not disappoint! A small, charming Italian in the city centre, Cafe Citta offers some of the best Italian cuisine in Cardiff, and certainly the best in the city centre. With my Italian colleagues saying it is one of the most authentic Italian restaurants in Cardiff, I can see why. A delightfully fresh, and balanced flavour to every dish, Cafe Citta offers fantastic food where there is ample evidence of the freshly prepared nature of the food. Being such a small restaurant, I would definitely recommend booking in advance. Also, customers with mobility issues may wish to discuss with the restaurant ahead of time whether there is seating in some of the more spacious areas available. Definitely another strong recommendation from me!

Delicious food, with excellent service and a cosy atmosphere. After a day in Cardiff we decided to book a table here based on the numerous good reviews, and it certainly lived up to expectations! Greeted warmly upon arrival, the staff couldn't be more helpful throughout and provided consistent service with a smile. I had the Buffalo Mozzarella & Parma Ham to start; beautiful flavours and textures, off to a great start. For main was the Pizza Diavola (pepper sausage, roasted pepper and chilli), and I added 2 extra toppings (chicken and garlic). The pizza was delicious, with a thin soft base (the base and crust were also light and slightly crispy... perfect). Pizza is my favourite food, and this one definitely ranks in the top 3 that I've tried, possibly even the best! Thank you for a great all round experience.

Simple food, absolutely delicious. Totally recommend. Definitely one of the best places to eat in Cardiff, yummy! There is an empty restaurant in Rhiwbina if you're interested guys!!

Edit 2024: Still Amazing. I had the pizza ricotta, partner had the vegetarian gnocchi. Both delighted. Service is excellent. Edit: Back again, still amazing. Patate pizza is highly recommended! Delicious food (inc for vegetarians), and my partner said the coffee is amazing. Friendly and helpful service. I'm excited to return to sample more of the menu!

Solo dining in Cardiff and this was really welcoming with friendly staff, great atmosphere, busy (which is a good sign) and a gorgeous diavola pizza that photos simply will not do justice to.

Had a lovely vegetarian pizza today with a glass of full bodied of wine. The pizza was a thin base and very "light" not at all heavy on the stomach after eating. Staff very friendly and would recommend eating there. We booked to be sure of of a place as the Cafe is not very big.

Best Italian in Cardiff, we absolutely loved it. The atmosphere is brilliant, small place but you can feel Italian atmosphere, food is beautiful.

Just reopened after lockdown and it's still first rate. Group of 3, 1 of whom had never been but is plotting to go again with his wife. A Cardiff institution.

My granddaughter and I had a lovely meal here in November. Very attentative staff with a smile warm welcome the aubergine bake was lovely and our pizza Marguaritta was beautiful and authentic. Thank-you we had a lovely time warm and cosy ...you must book I. Advance as we did do xx

Lovely little place - the best lasagna I've tasted outside Italy!!!! All the food was full of fresh flavours - really delicious - would def recommend!

Lovely little restaurant tucked away on a Main Street. Very unassuming but my god was the food good! I’m veggie and went for the veggie penne and it was bursting with flavours! I could taste everything was cooked with love and experience! Thank you! ❤️

First time visiting cafe citta and I must say the food was amazing and the service was also amazing. Nothing was to much trouble for them and it just felt so warm and welcoming. Will definitely return again.

My birthday treat was a lovely Italian restaurant which we've tried to get into before, I fact so many times, but we never got there, this time we finally did and it was worth the wait, fantastic atmosphere, smalland compact, really feel like your being transported to a little cafe in in Italy, spectacular homemade tradition Italian food, great wine, and good service. A definite 5 star for me across the board. Strongly recommend booking in advance, if you can't get in tho the wait is worth it. Will be back again ☺️☺️☺️

Friend treated me this weekend with a visit here and boy am I glad they did. They got a pizza which looked amazing, while I got the linguine pesto with chicken, would highly recommend if you love Italian food!! Ps to the lovely wait staff, I apologise for not being able to clear my plate - I didn't mean to cause any offence, the food was to die for, I was just pleasantly stuffed and couldn't finish my main!!

Wonderful food. Well priced for city centre. Very cosy and in formal. Great atmosphere coming from other clients. Shame about service. One Unprofessional ignorant waiter serving us sadly ! Spent over £70 between 2. Asked for a deal on a martini expresso. Wanted £9 each !! Didn't feel like it was family run ! No one there to greet with authority or welcome. Shame. Because food is exceptional.

My daughter and I had a fantastic early evening meal. We shared a starter which was beautiful and more than enough for 2. Our mains were lovely and desserts amazing. The service was attentive without being overbearing. I did not need to eat until the following day!

Had a meal here last night with my family and we were all blown away by this place. The food is insanely tasty and value for money. Service was exceptional and I can’t wait to come and visit again next time I am in Wales. Bellisimo!!

Good location and lovely staff! Home made chili oil is very flavorful. The vegetarian penne was decent but I was expecting more flavor from it. The taste of the margarita pizza is good but the dough was a bit too soft. I will come back here and try meat dishes next time
