Following the review by my husband and the response from Anna Loka, I just can't stay silent. The service was bad. The person who served us was sooooo chatty, you really can't even ask a question because he is talking non stop. He talks about business and how hard to get the staff etc... As a customer I really don't care. What I want is to have a good food, good time and a relaxing evening. We went there on Monday evening and there was nobody in the cafe, just the staff. That says a lot about the place that used to be very busy. The food wasn't good at all. Yes, it was extremely salty, the prices are over the top, unpleasant experience and we will not be coming back again. We would rather spend that money on a proper dining. Customer service definitely needs to be improved. The person who served us was very immature to discuss business issues with the customers. Anna Loka is not the same any more...

Really, really delicious vegan food and lovely serving staff! The only drawback was being able to see people eating in the kitchen while wearing gloves that they presumably wear to prepare the food.

I felt like I belong here just as simple as that! 🦋 decent prices for amount of work! Polite personnel and very tasty food. Lovely location and cosy atmosphere. It’s something that is not just a trend is what is should be everywhere. Take it as an example. Respect for life and people is what I think is transpiring here as their values are kept by the care they have about! Thank you very much! If you get lucky you can have a free parking space for about 2 hours 🤪I did!

My boyfriend and I went here for Valentines Day and thoroughly enjoyed our evening. My boyfriend is even a meat eater and he loved his meal! I tried the tofish burger which was nice, I did get envious seeing other people's burgers as they looked delicious too. The gherkin golf balls with cheeze sauce were so tasty, and the mac and cheese. Definitely recommend visiting here if you are vegan, veggie, pesci, or trying new things!

Went for the first time and won't be the last. Neither myself nor my partner are vegetarian but we absolutely appreciate good vegan food and our burgers didn't disappoint. We were first seated in quite a loud area next to the kitchen but after explaining to the staff I can't handle much noise (anxiety etc.), she happily moved us. We ended up outside which seems like it would be a great seating area... I think the day we went it wasn't really set up for customers so outside wasn't the comfiest. Pallet seating with no cushions etc. Other than that, great place and would definitely go again.

Had a great evening at Anna Loka. Aaron and the team made us feel very welcome and cooked us a range of starters, mains and desserts, that we all shared. The range of dishes were prepared and presented expertly. I had originally made the booking as a treat for our vegan daughter. She loved everything about the evening, but all of us non vegans in the family really enjoyed the food and relaxed atmosphere too. The dishes had some real distinct and varying flavours that reminded us of meals we had enjoyed together on our travels around South East Asia. Will definitely be back when next in Cardiff.

Been waiting so long to try the new vegan Chinese food and the old items from the previous menu. Couldn’t be more happy with the whole experience, we had travelled down from London to come down and the owner was so welcoming to allow us to come during their break hours as we were having a really bad day due to the traffic and our hotel cancelling our reservation. The owner went out of his way to help us find and book accommodation for my family. Not to mention the food was absolutely delicious and out nothing in our home comes close to the food experience we had. Really loved the idea of being able to create our own secret sacred juice by picking the off the list of ingredients options, 100% recommend and ask for Aaron if you’re ever in Cardiff.

The Rodeo Burger was absolutely DIVINE. Divine. Zeus himself would’ve ordered it if he was vegan. To be honest you don’t even need to be vegan to appreciate how lush the food here is :D I actually looked forward to my burp so I could taste it all again, highly recommend!

Amazingly tasty food!!... but felt like it is quite overpriced. I personally found the chairs very uncomfortable and it didn't seem like the AC was on.

This was our favorite restaurant in Cardiff and we were really excited when it reopened this autumn after closing unexpectedly over the summer. The place has changed ownership and unfortunately it’s just not the same. The food tasted terrible and the servers had no idea what was going on, as if they’d had no training. We asked what a cold mystery sauce was that came with nachos- mustard? And the server looked baffled, said she would check, and never returned with an answer. Drinks came after the meal. The tofish and chips came with a tiny piece of tofu - so overpriced! The place was quiet and grubby. What a shame. Miss the old Anna Loka.

We booked in advance for a group of 6 of us for lunch, 2 vegans, 1 veggie and 3 omni. Lots of different choices on the menu, it was hard to decide what to have! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food. I ordered the arancini starter, which was nice. Some ordered the crispy tofu which I tried and it was sooo good! I will definitely be ordering that next time. for my main I ordered the asian fusion tray and this was delicious. Dessert I has the mango cake which was lovely too. Overall a very good experience and brilliant food too. Would return.

absolutely loved it! everything we ordered was SO delicious and the portions are amazing! my eyes are definitely bigger than my stomach so I didn’t finish it all, but managed to get some to go containers😌 The staff are very friendly as well, overall a wonderful experience! Can’t wait to go back again!

Wow....amazing. The best vegan food I have eaten in many many years. You must try the Asian Fusion. Everything looks amazing. Just wished I lived in Cardiff to eat my way round the menu. And...I was able to bring my dog which some of the other vegan restaurants in Cardiff don't allow.

We had the most amazing vegan Chinese set meal at Anna Loka yesterday evening! It was absolutely delicious and there was so much of it! Many thanks for looking after us so well Aaron - we’ll definitely be back soon! Jules

Our absolute FAVOURITE vegan spot in town. Knocks everywhere else out the park. Rodeo burger and Donner wrap are particular favourites. Give it a go, you will not be disappointed!

Delicious, well-presented food and great communication throughout the process of using Anna-Loka to cater for a small-medium sized birthday party, would highly recommend! We asked Anna-Loka if they could cater (not knowing if this was possible) for a 20-25 people gathering in Penarth, Vale of Glamorgan due to having several guests who are vegan, veggie and/or gluten intolerant. Spoke to Aaron (recent new owner of the business) about portions and what food could be made suitable for ‘buffet style’ type catering and he was more than happy to discuss ideas and cater for our needs and at a good price. He was able to deliver the food to our doorstep on the day which was very convenient. The food was delivered fresh to our house at the time discussed and kept warm with foil dishes and containers provided by Anna-Loka. The food looked and tasted delicious, it was clear a lot of time and effort had gone into making the food and every single guest commented how tasty it was and some of the best vegan food they had eaten in a long time. There was plenty of food which was lucky due to more guests arriving than planned although it went down so quickly we couldn’t take any photos. We had a range of food- the Donner/Arabian bowls, all the starters and sides and a range of crispy tofu dishes and dumplings so there was something for everyone. The whole process was very smooth, from ordering the food to delivering Aaron made sure that we were happy with the service and the food which we very much were. I look forward to eating in the restaurant soon and supporting Cardiff’s independent restaurants, do not hesitate to go .

Wow! What a wonderful valentines meal my husband & myself had. Fantastic ambiance & great friendly staff, couldn't do enough for us. My husbands burger was out of this world. We will be back to sample more delicious food. Thank you for such an enjoyable night. 👍

I don't have the best experience. Food was very greasy and salty. My burger was rather cold. Both me and my husband felt poorly after (and we didn't even finish our meals...). They have a nice coffee and interesting bubble waffle. I regret not trying the soup, it could potentially be better than burger and breakfast plate. Very friendly staff is the main reason for two stars. It goes to my 'never again' list but I can see some people enjoying it so wish the place all the best! P. S. We've been asked what we think and we both said 'it's ok' because in fact, it was OK! Not burned/ruined or anything. Just not our taste, we usually cook similar meals with less fat hence feeling poorly after. It's just two people opinion :)

This is such a fabulous place to eat. The drinks menu is excellent for health drinks and smoothies. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The only negative was I did come out smelling of oil which wasn't very nice.

Lovely attentive staff and perfectly crispy (to)fish and chips. Very Allergy friendly - super attentive staff who went out of their way to accommodate and even suggested some allergy friendly groceries! Their homemade ketchup was absolutely delicious and a lovely addition to a great meal. Will definitely be back!

A nice cool vegan restaurant in the heart of Cardiff City, Wales. The interior is so beautiful with stone carved walls. Quite a hip rustic design. Pure vegan restaurant with a lot to choose from. Had the Krishna bowl and vegan burger with sweet potato fries. There are some vegan cakes too! Recommend the lemon cake. Highly recommend visiting this place.

***Ordered the Cali breakfast to takeaway 29 July 2020! The BREAD they used HAD totally GONE OFF and was MOULDY it was so BAD it tainted the whole meal! To top it off Anna loca is not honouring a replacement upon next visit which I found hilarious considering this was genuine!!! Sent them pictures and they tried telling me the bread comes in fresh everyday so wont admit they RIPPED ME OFF

I’ve been a vegetarian for five years. I’ve only been a full vegan for six weeks. This restaurant serves some of the best food I’ve ever eaten, regardless of the vegan ingredients. They do an amazing daytime menu, see photo for their fake kebab meat salad. It was so stunning we went back three days on the bounce to get more. In the evenings they do vegan Chinese food. The tofu rice is amazing, the peeking crispy tofu is exceptional, they do the best salt and chilli chips you’ll ever taste, the black bean crispy tofu is very nice indeed, and the new udon mushroom noodle dish is bonkers lovely. They make the nicest Chinese in Cardiff; arguably the country. You don’t need to be vegan to enjoy it either. I was torn whether to submit this review sharing just how good this restaurant is because if they get inundated I might not be able to get a table. However, they deserve everyone’s custom. Seriously, if you try this place you’ll be back again and again. Just had a Chinese from there. Want it tomorrow now again. Mental. It’s so nice you won’t believe it.

First time at Anna Loka; we turned up for our booking and we hadn't been told that the place was under renovation - hoovers and cleaning products on the floor, every table & chair turned upside down for renovation except 1 for us in the corner (which wasn't laid), and the place was dusty and smelled of paint, etc. No staff around to greet us and there was no-one else dining - we thought it was closed! Finally a member of staff came from the back and said they didn't want to cancel our booking to give us the option of sitting in. We would have appreciated this being communicated to us prior to travelling to the restaurant. We had no idea that we were walking into a renovation project and not a restaurant. We didn't stay for our booking. Awful communication and sadly won't be returning.

I'd been meaning to book Anna-Loka for some time after seeing it on Dirty Vegan and reading the positive reviews about the food there. My partner and I have recently gone vegetarian, so I finally booked us a table for our first vegan experience and it didn't disappoint. We had the sharing platter for our starter and the menanam burger for our main. It was quite simply delicious! The deserts were great too. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the service very swift. We left the restaurant feeling very content and will definitely be visiting again. Well done, Adam, you've created a fantastic little restaurant here!

We walked our way up through a windy and cloudy Cardiff, up to Anna Loka, and we were soooo happy we did. The place is charming, cosy, the staff genuinely lovely, and the food a marvel. The sweet potato chips for instance, blew my mind. Sounds like a simple thing to do, but the level of craft the cooks from Anna Loka own is stunning. Our bao buns, burger, samosa and everything else was equally delicious. Really a place to go en enjoy yourselves!

It has changed ownership it seems. We had a good time but the range of food on offer was much less in comparison to before. The staff seemed helpful and a pleasant Atmosphere but food not up to the standard It had previously been unless it was just their lunchtime menu.

The place is small but beautifully decorated and the staff went above and beyond. Super impressed with both the food (which was delicious) and the service. This place is a rare find! The food is amazing! It is obvious that there is a lot of innovative thoughts and painstaking process in the preparation of the menu and of course resulting in the excellent food on the table. We totally enjoyed the vegan meals we had today. We are here on holiday and we will definitely come back next time we are here in Cardiff again.

What a fabulous restaurant. Amazing food, great service & a warm & friendly atmosphere. I’m not Vegan, however this is probably the best vegan restaurant I’ve had the pleasure to dine at. Absolutely deserving of 5 stars & definitely somewhere I’ll come back to, when I’m next in Cardiff.

Delicious vegan food. A wide variety to chose from, all prepared quickly. I keep going back as I can find anything similar anywhere else. Really enjoy it everytime I go!

A tad disappointed. Friendly people just taken over restaurant but a lot of frying going on. Menu likely to change soon so will return when up and running with that. The chana masala was very tasty tho. Be aware that starters are for TWO people.

Fantastic! The food was out of this world, some of the tastiest and most satisfying food we have ever had. I'm not a vegan, though I do have a very controlled diet for health reasons. However, if you aren't vegan either then don't overlook this absolute gem of a restaurant based on that minor detail. You would be missing out on some truly amazing food that is not only delicious but full of the good stuff as well. I had the Krishna Whole Food Bowl, which was sensational. A generously portioned dish that is bursting with flavour in every mouthful. The service was excellent, very friendly and welcoming and an all round pleasant atmosphere. My sincerest compliments to the chef and the waiting staff. They have a wonderful little place in Anna Loka. My only issue is why did it take so long for us to discover this place?! A 10/10 and highly recommended. We will certainly be back again.

Reviewing this as a non - vegan, who went with my vegan girlfriend. Very friendly, chilled restaurant. A lot on the menu that I was interested in. Arrived 20 minutes early and we were still shown to our table and had our order taken. Staff were polite friendly and explained some of the dishes to us. Very impressed, will definitely eat there again.

I’ve never imagined before that vegan food can be my comfort food until I tried Anna-Loka. Every item I have tried here is so delicious and has its own tone. The seasoning is unique and on spot. Their burgers are better than burgers with real meat!

I am not vegan but this place certainly makes me consider becoming. The food has a bags of flavour and it’s nice to find full meals of restaurant quality. I was a little cautious at first but now it’s one of my favourite places to grab a bite out.

The food and coffee here is SO delicious and staff were all lovely. Having been on a week-long trip to Wales our brunch here was the best food we had. Really recommend for vegans and non-vegans alike 🤗

We visited seeing an Indian name , but in the Menu nothing Indian cuisine & a Small restaurant with uncomfortable seating.

Staff are lovely, food is fantastic, always hard to get a parking space but that's just the way it is in that area of Cardiff.

This is a vegan haven!! The food is consistently excellent and the service is awesome! So friendly, reasonably priced and you leave satisfied. I'm a regular even though I live outside of Cardiff.

Been three times now breakfast one day lunch and dinner and all ocations had the most amazing food gave them a 5 star the staff were friendly and so good I'm going to recommend to everyone for sure and csnt wait to est there again.

I was doubtful about this place as the dine-in was not available as per google due to COVID, however when we called up they confirmed that they are operational. Had the Krishna’s mighty bowl at this place and it was unusually good as the combination was very different from what I’ve had before.
