Fine dining is challenging to do well, from ensuring servers are friendly but not intrusive to serving up food with general appeal whilst pushing boundaries, but the clink excels on all counts. Our server, Francesca, clearly has a bright future in the industry as she trains for a multitude of qualifications. Compassionate, attentive, caring, knowledge and friendly, she enhanced a wonderful experience to perfection. Consideration was given to my pregnant wife's food restrictions, knowledge of the dishes was superb and she ensured excellent communication regarding perceived delays (amendments to orders etc). The food itself was the equal of any elite cooking establishment in South Wales. Superbly presented dishes which had clearly been prepared with care, using the best ingredients which were a delight to eat. Of particular note was the subtle touches which enhanced the flavour profile of each dish, something which can be overwhelming if not done carefully but was executed to perfection. A truly excellent dining experience and one which I would not hesitate to recommend.

Awesome food with great presentation. I had high hopes and these were exceeded. One of the best Sunday's roasts in some time. Nice friendly waiters etc. Book it as you won't regret it.

This is some of best food I've had in Cardiff. Slow cooked rib of beef for main course, which was cooked to perfection. Lovely food and great service too.

Extremely delicious food at The Clink and at extremely good prices. We had a three course meal for Β£33.00 and throughly enjoyed it. Service was excellent, professional and friendly. Apparently The Clink is closing in December, what a shame. Definitely recommend a visit here before it's to late.

I think this restaurant is quite overrated maybe because of its background or price. The ingredient they used for fish and beef is quite cheap part and the dish is just an extra decoration from normal meal. Also, service is hard to say good compared to other restaurants nearby. Doesnt have any delicacy or specialty for their meals compared to a couple of fine dining or related class restaurants in Cardiff such as Classroom or Chapels. (But chapels is also not worth the price.) Personally, would go to Italian bistros in Cardiff which are quite nice instead. Reply: It is not about the service I complaint. It is more about the quality of the ingredients you are using.

This is the second time I've been to The Clink. Although it lack atmosphere I've been assured it as a result of the day we picked. The food is well presented and cooked. Lovely combo of flavours, service friendly and professional although I must admit it's pricey for what you get, but totally worth a visit. Well done guys, keep up the good work.

Everything was absolutely excellent! Food was amazingly presented and tasted as good as it looked. My favorite was the venison and oyster mushroom pie, such great flavour! Service throughout was very good and felt in very good hands.

Really love this place! Gorgeous food and very friendly service. A little slow when I have been there but worth the wait. No alcoholic beverages, but this just made the meal slightly cheaper. Would definitely recommend. Lovely homemade after dinner chocolates.

It's criminal that this place isn't more well known. The food is beautifully presented, with a great range of dishes available. We were greeted by very professional staff, who were very attentive to our needs. Highly recommended

Afternoon tea, prepared and served by the inmates. Parked across the road, in the NPC. Excellent disabled access, toilet and restaurant. The restaurant was full and had a great atmosphere, with couples and families. The high quality food coming from the kitchen was fantastic. We had a really nice selection of fresh sandwiches and cakes. Amazing value for money with a very warm welcome upon our arrival and very friendly servers. The restaurant is very clean, modern and comfortable. We can't wait to go back.

THE CLINK - CARDIFF. something different, afternoon tea served at Cardiff prison restaurant, run by the inmates. Tasty thick sandwiches, excellent and yummy treats, Unlimited tea/coffee. Nice welcome, good service & clean facilities. An excellent run charity, which helps to reduce reoffending and gain skills and qualifications through the training and rehabilitation of the prisoners. Booking needed, will return for a meal at this multiple award winning restaurant. P&D multistorey opposite the restaurant.

The concept of retraining detainees in the hospitality business is wonderful, the servers were helpful and the food looked good. Sadly it was expensive, overprepared and overcooked but we might have been unlucky. I would still recommend a trip.

An amazing organisation, just gutted that they have to close. The food was excellent and the staff were really friendly. I would definitely recommend trying to get a table before they close for good.

Such a disservice to our community that this place is closing down, go if you can before they close their doors. The mushroom tartar was great and the good service only complimented the dishes and wonderful work this charity does.

The food is OK, but be sure your read all the details before you book. It's is expensive, there is a compulsory service charge and no alcohol permitted. My food was all a little over done. Presentation and service was all good. But not worth the money. Not a place I'd revisit.

Visited for lunch and was thoroughly impressed with everything from the genuinely warm welcome into the restaurant, to the fantastic service and, of course, an amazing three courses. I highly recommend visiting The Clink. Not just for the amazing food, but also to support what is a really great cause. I will definitely be coming back in future.

We went for afternoon tea. Nice selection of sandwiches (coronation chicken and ham/mustard were our favourites), scones with jam and clotted cream), and cake/pastry. Dining room was nicely decorated and airy. Attentive service. Hoping the restaurant, which has such a positive impact for the staff, can find a new location.

Good food. Great service and great value. Love what they're doing. Marked down a touch as each dish needed more seasoning but that didn't spoil our evening.

Very good food, great atmosphere, spotless and the people working at the Clink probably the most polite and helpful people we have come across in a restaurant and great sense of humour. Very humbling. Great night! Xx Would highly recommend!

Wonderful food. Nice atmosphere. We had the smoked pigeon, fabulous. Slow cooked beef rib, tremendous and then plum Tarte tatin and chocolate crème brulée. Both were gorgeous. Definitely a place to revisit.

This is an amazing restaurant and a very good cause to support! The restaurant which is situated just next to the prison (parking is available in the NCP opposite) doesn't look like much from the outside but is really modern and we'll laid out inside. The staff were all very welcoming and the service was excellent. The food was excellent! Definitely fine dining quality and the menu changes regularly so there's no excuse not to go back! There is no alcohol available here however they do exceptional non-alcoholic cocktails I cannot recommend this place enough it is amazing value for money and a really deserving cause to support!
