I was expecting amazing food as I read several good reviews about the place, but the food was really not good. All I could taste was the oil in the food and I don’t think i would ever order again. I ordered the paneer Manchuria and it had a really sweet taste, even though it was mentioned on the menu it’s a spicy dish. Although this was cause I got it delivered and maybe if I went to the restaurant it would’ve been better. But for now I’m really disappointed.

TL;DR : Atrocious food, STAY AWAY! Money can be better spent at other restaurants, e.g. Lezzet. It was half the price, double the serving, and ten times the taste. (From a fellow Gujaratis POV) I can tell the owner isn't a fan of bad reviews as seen here, but serious action needs to be taken. Went in with really high expectations from the reviews here on Google. Utterly disappointed. Customer service was good. However, water was the best thing we had. When it comes to the food, everything we had was bad. The Batata Bhinda dish, was not fresh; The texture of the potatoes was very grainy, and the bhindi was overcooked mush. Somehow even then, I had pieces of hard old inedible bhindi in it. The vegetable manchurian sauce/base was unlike any I've ever had in a bad way. In addition, the parathas were frozen and store bought (as confirmed by a member of staff), and not even made to order, hence it was chewy, anyone could buy it from the store and cook it better then they did. The sambar had a homecooked Gujarati taste, not proper south indian style though; and the idli was more like dhokla.

Amazed to see the ambience. Pizza tasted so good. Couldn't resist myself from ordering in mass for the entire family.

I visited the Vegetarian Food Studio on 02.01.20. The food is absolutely stunning! I eat in some of the finest restaurants in the UK and would say the VFS experience is up the with the very best.

Love it! Very yummy and staff are so friendly! Clean and so healthy food! You are park in front of the restaurant for free as well.

Love this place, second time in a couple of years but we should have come again sooner. Two vegan Thalis, and a pea and aubergine curry, with aloo paratha, some fried and spiced potato, some pastry balls filled with spices. They've won many awards and very recently too. It was all delicious but more than that the staff are all very friendly. Greeted with a massive smile.

Best Indian/International restaurant in Cardiff hands down. The flavor and spices were all on point. The mushroom fried rice was amazing, it was actually better than any other Chinese I’ve tried around here.

Heard loads of good things about this restaurant and they were not lying. The service was lush from start to finish. Loads of amazing drinks. The food was insane! We all tried so many different dishes. The murals are stunning too!

This is one of those rare vegetarian only restaurants. The ambience was great. It is a Gujarati (Place in India), themed restaurant with lovely vegetarian dishes on the offer. The service was super quick for me. If you are going for lunch, I would suggest that you try out the Gujarati thali. Thali is a kind of rarity on the UK. I tried the Thali and the VFS both of them were really good. To top it off we had different lassis and all of them were really very very good. If you are in Cardiff and looking for a vegetarian only restaurants this is the one I would suggest. The restaurant location is not in the city centre but on the opposite side. As a tourist I had walked from Cardiff central. Definitely try this one out. Please note I have seen this in Cardiff now, there is always a 10% service charge added on the receipt for eatin.

We popped in before heading to the Tramshed for a gig and was not disappointed. The masala and chai tea was very much appreciated as I was freezing cold before going in. After looking at the menu, (which has so much choice), we decided on two Gujarati thali ‘s so we could try a bit of everything. Food came quickly and it was really tasty. If we are back in the area again we will definitely pop back in.

Came in around 5pm. Ordered chilli baji and a masala dosa. Resturant was quiet, I guess it was in the middle of lunch and dinner time. So the dishes came quite quick. Chili baji was tasty and served with tamarind sauce. The Dosa it’s self was tasty. Lovely tasty of the potato masala! Sambar also had a delicious authentic taste. The only part of the meal which was a little disappointing for me (hence 4 star apposed to 5), was the Coconut chutney. As it seemed it was just coconut yoghurt. Despite the menu saying all their chutneys are made on site. All in all a nice place to come for Indian vegetarian food. Huge menu with dishes from north and south India at affordable prices. Very authentic and friendly staff. Would visit again if I come to Cardiff.

No matter what you choose, the food is guaranteed to be sensational! Very reasonably priced, friendly staff and the music isn't too loud. Always over order as they are happy to let you take leftovers in a doggy bag too. Take your own booze if you want a drink as they are not licensed.

Absolutely love VFS! The last time I came here was maybe 10 years ago and if anything it’s even better than I remember. 1. Staff are super friendly and helpful, I liked that they advised us on getting less and not over eating ha! A common theme for my curry eating! 2. HUGE array of stuff available, almost overwhelming from someone who is used to 2-3 veggie options. 3. BYOB - Yes please. 4. Fairly priced and super tasty! Honestly surprised at reading some of these negative reviews considering my experience, but would definitely recommend eating in if possible if only for the great service!

Honestly is one of my favourite restaurants I've ever been to. The food never fails to disappoint, the flavours and the spices are very complex and the extensive selection of meals on offer means that there will always be something for everyone. Great for meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans alike, I have never found another restaurant in the UK that so expertly delivers on flavours from the Indian subcontinent. I always find myself returning and I imagine I will do so again in the future.

We went there with high expectations after reading good reviews. But the food was below mediocre, if you are looking for a restaurant food experience then this place is for sure to avoid. Being a Gujarati owned restaurant I was expecting amazing Gujarati food but was left disappointed, I was served stale undiyu which the owner refused to accept. And the oriental food is a joke, hakka noodles and chilli panner drowned in vinegar and soya . Some curries were okay and aloo paratha was good. But very over priced for the food we had. Surely a place to try once and forget.

One of my favourite restaurants in Cardiff and the best Indian food I have ever had. I love the thalis, they are always excellent and you get something different to try every time. I also love the desserts. The chilli garlic dhosa is also lush! The atmosphere is relaxed and the decor is nice. I would deffo recommend.

Bought a few barfi, came home to check the weight of the box, turned out the scale in the shop is not working properly, so I’ve overpaid for 69 grams. It’s not that much and I don’t expect the scale to be perfect, however I didn’t expect such a big difference.

Ordered a takeaway from VFS the other day as we received a flyer through the door. Our family screamed as we didn’t know they were doing deliveries during the lockdown. We ordered the food and it was delivered before we even knew we had ordered. We had family over and each food was labelled without having to even opened the container. As a vegetarian I was so excited to try after a long day to treat myself but my food was very plain and did not come with what was stated on Uber eats. My curry ( dahl- two different Dahl’s one was okay ) was watery and peppery and I won’t be ordering again. I’d ask for my money back but I understand current times are hard for everyone. I payed around a fiver for delivery which took ages too, won’t be buying from again unfortunately. Concluding with overpriced food and delivery which I haven’t had any joy eating

This amazing place serves mouthwatering food. The service is quick, friendly and informative. Every member of staff took care of us and made sure we had a great meal. The music is calming but fun, the food is delicious and tastes amazing. The portions are huge. The value for money is incredible. Two people ate happily for £31 and that's impressive. I've been getting food from here for 20!years, it's been consistently amazing. I haven't lived in Cardiff for 15 years so pick up takeaways when I'm on my way through and warm up when I get home. The Thalia specials are a big tasty big meal for one, but could happily work for two people as well.

We know Indians have the best vegetarian cuisine in the world and this restaurant proves it. I've been here three times because it's local and always been so impressed. However, something happened today that takes this restaurant to the next level. I ordered something unfamiliar today which was described as fried lentil balls - what arrived was unlike what I imagined it would be and tasted more like bread. I simply pointed it out to the waiter without complaining or asking for anything but he could tell I was disappointed by the order. Without saying anything, he returned in minutes with a dosa dish to replace the order. This was pure class and just goes to show how great they are here. If you're thinking about going, don't hesitate - it's a brilliant place to eat really tasty food.

I found service and atmosphere very good however food was not fresh for example rotli were not hot and fresh which is the basic thing we expect from Indian restaurants. I wouldn’t suggest south indian food like dosa. I have tried many places in UK and found to be below average here. I felt that prices may be higher with respect to taste and portion for individual items we got but Thali may be good options in terms of price (though we didn’t try but noticed most people was going with that). I am not local wales resident so don’t know the norms but I felt that charging 10% service charges without mentioning anywhere were unreasonable though this as total of bill was not big for me but I expect them to boldly write that.

Best and most affordable thali I’ve had in the UK. Puris were great and very generous portion for a thali. I’m convinced anyone who writes a bad review does so for personal gain, because I don’t have a bad thing to say.
