I have eaten here a few times already, and it's been hit and miss, depending on what you order. The first time, I tried the Fahsah, which was like a lamb thick soup, tasty but a little bit too slimy for me (?okra) but a definite stomach-filler with the huge bread that comes with it. The second time, which was the best of all, was a Half Roasted Chicken which was absolutely delicious; the meat was falling off the bone and the flavours were amazing! However, the rice served on that day had a smokey taste and was also cold. The third time, I tried the Haneed Lamb, which as you can see in the picture, looks a bit dull and so was the taste; the rice on the occasion however was delicious!

The food from this place was simply, amazing. Ordered takeaway from here and came within 15 minutes. Food was hot, fresh and delicious. The mutton was succulent and just broke apart in my hands, the rice was so full of flavour. It's amazing how the delivered food was this great, can't wait to find out how tasty it will be dining in.

We ordered the £30 platter deal and we weren't disappointed! The chicken was sooo soft and was literally melting in the mouth. Rice and the accompanying sauce was great too. The naan was properly cooked and crispy. Never knew Yemeni food is so good. :)

Well, first day in Cardiff coming from Canada and was googling for Traditional Arabian food, Bab Al-Yemen was recommended by Google; was impressed by the quality of the dishes and the friendliness of the staff . The reasonable prices are bonus. Highly recommended

Loved the food here. The owner is friendly and helpful. It has a homely feel and had a good selection of vegan options. The food was a little on the salty side, but definitely a place I'd come back to!

I had an excellent lunch here. I was the only person in, although someone else’s meal was cleared away soon after I entered (on a match day at 2pm). The chicken mandi was enormous, the zhoug nicely sharp, the broth warming, the meat falling off the bone, and the rice sublime.

Ordered the chicken mandi rice via Ubereats and it tasted like home (coming from the food paradise of Singapore). Keep up the good food and looking to dine-in next time I visit Cardiff. Would have given 6 stars if I could.

Food is amazing. The meat melts in your mouth and is sooooooo flavourful. The naan is my favourite naan ever. Everything just tastes so homemade it just warms up your heart 🥹 I definitely recommend the Masoub for someone who likes desserts and would like to try something new!

Just eaten a takeaway from here - the Haneed lamb with rice, salad, veg curry, and bread. All for £10! Absolutly fantastic value for money. The lamb was falling off the bone and the portion was massive. Will definately be visiting the restaurant in person soon for a sit down meal!

We've had an amazing experience at Bab Al-Yemen. Top quality lamb Haneeth, chicken mandi, and Soughar lamb. The manager is super friendly and helpful with his advice about what to order, and the prices are very reasonable, in fact cheap considering the portions and the taste. Would definitely go there every time I visit Cardiff. Highly recommended. One piece of advice to the owner though is to do something about how the entrance and ground floor looks. They don't reflect the quality of the restaurant. First floor floor seating though, absolutely gorgeous.

Recently had a takeaway order from here and it arrived within 30 minutes. The meat was incredibly tender and fell off the bone. The sauces that accompanied it blended in deliciously. This is truly a hidden gem. The haneed can easily fill up one person as the portions are quite large and there are lots of meat pieces. We also had the mandi which was just as good. Yemeni food is a must try!

Very good. We bought a platter and the rice was so good. You could eat the rice on its own. It was perfectly cooked.

On holiday in Cardiff and felt like getting something other than your standard British fare, so we happened upon Bab Al-Yemen since it was near our Airbnb and based on other store fronts we were in an area with a greater population of people of Middle Eastern descent. We got several dishes like the half roasted chicken (so tender!), rice and vegetable curry, and foul moudames, and we were quite pleased with everything. The foul came with a fresh green chilli sauce (zahaouek I believe), and it was very spicy and packed with flavor. Nice spot!
