One of the best Halal Persian restaurants in Cardiff, definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to try out Persian food! The Koobideh was soft and succulent. The atmosphere of the restaurant took us back in time. They have an ornate ancient Persian style seating bed.

Really great local Persian restaurant! Food was delicious and plentiful, we had the mixed grill platter and the babaganoush / fried aubergine dip with pita. Service was outstanding, they’re all really kind. I would definitely come back here.

Came here for the first time, after hearing about it from people in my circle, seating is nice, ambience is good, ordered humus and some aubergine dish, tasted good with fresh Naan. Ordered Joojeh good presentation with fresh salad, but tasted too much salt, could not eat after 1st bite, manager came to rescue but planned to opt for othe dish from menu. Again bland taste, seems like basic no flavour at all. Had to leave food there. Manager said Sorry we will serve you better when you will come 2nd time. This was 1st and last time to this average place. Would not recommend anyone.

Found this nice Persian restaurant on my way back from Cardiff to Bath and went there to order “Koobide” for takeaway. Felt like home when the owner offered me a cup of tea while my food was getting prepared, exactly the same vibe like Iran. Really enjoyed the food, will definitely try it again when I come to Cardiff.

Visited Cardiff recently to go to my pre-pandemic favourite spot for Persian food, the food were lovely and the service is really nice. The price is still a super deal and we came all the way from London to get one of UK’s best Persian restaurant. No other place does a Koobideh as good as Mowlana Cardiff. Keep it up!

Had dinner with my partner in Mowlana few months ago. Amazing food and very friendly staff. Really enjoyed the fresh food and the tasty tea we had. My only recommendation is to change the music!. A nice collection of Iranian traditional music (which I love by the way) would have added to the nice ambiance. I'm new in Cardiff and enjoyed the friendly welcoming of the owner, assuring us about the quality of the food, that was served in the restaurant. I'm ordering food for my partner's birthday this Valentines day ;-).

Average restraunt, hospitality is good, clean but the authenticity of food I doubt, for example the sugar served with tea should be saffron sugar stick not white crystal sugar. Saffron rice was like too little that u can count the numbers. Lamb chop had some kind of color which was difficult to get rid off, surely not saffron because there was no flavor Bill was 38 £.

My partner and I were on our second night of our visit to Cardiff and were looking for a place to eat when we chanced upon this lovely restaurant. We both never had Persian food before and decided to take a risk as it was something new. As we walked in, the staff were really friendly and welcoming. We were sat at our choice of table and my partner and I picked the corner where the ambience was quite relaxed and comfortable. The food was simply mind blowing and we didn't wait as too long for it to arrive. I had the sea bass which was fried to perfection: the meat was moist and flaky and not overtly greasy. The saffron rice it came with was soft and fragrant and just went well with the fish. My partner's chicken Joojeh was deeply flavoured, also with saffron and was tender and quite juicy. Also, I've tried other stuffed grape leaves in other restaurants but Mowlana's Dolmeh were probably the best ones I've had. The herbs and spices used were a real treat to the senses. Overall, a fantastic restaurant which highly deserves a visit.

Loved a quiet late Sunday lunch. Beautiful simple decor and delicious Persian food on a cold Cardiff day.

Travelled from Bristol to sample cuisine. The place was cold. The nan bread was cold. The mains was not at all good.

We are quite used to Mibdle Eastern restaurants but were disappointed with the food at this place. We went for the shared mixed grill and it was honestly tasteless and flat. Didn't taste fresh either so not sure if it was fully prepared on the day... We wouldn't go back to this restaurant.

Some of the best Persian food we have ever eaten. The owner and his staff were very friendly and accommodating. As tourists we didn't have a lot of cash on us, so we needed to find an ATM to withdraw money to pay for the food. The owner was nice enough to give us a discount for our trouble.

Delicious. friendly staff. Went there for my wife's birthday meal with our friends. We had mix grill for 2 and 3. Lamb chops. Meat were perfectly cooked and tender. Perfect seasoning and rice 😍. Non alcoholic beverages only serve at the restaurant but we were allowed to BYO Wine. The portion were big and we were too full to try the dessert menu. Parking were a bit hard to find but finally got a space after driving around 2nd time.

Brilliant restaurant that is very family friendly. The dishes were beautifully cooked in generous portions. It tasted amazing. Would definitely recommend their rice with barberries as it tasted amazing! Would also recommend trying their Persian tea. It was a great way to end the meal with Baklava and cake.

I went here quite by chance. The chef together for me some home made bread, hummus and the nicest aubergine starter I've ever had. Beautiful, family-run restaurant which deserves to be in Cardiff's top 25. 🏆👍😄❤️💯

Wow wow wow delicious food best I've had in a while. In Cardiff for a couple of days and googled the best halal eatery with Mowlana coming at the top. Ordered the lamb and tıkla skewer no. 17 last night and it did not disappoint. Gutted its closed tonight otherwise I would've popped in for round 2.

Good service, friendly atmosphere, however, they need to improve their vegetarian option, for example: by adding some fried mushrooms on Ghormesabazi or Gheimeh it would be nicer. I wish them a better business

Perfect, best experience of Iranian food. 5 star for ambiance, food and service. Staff was very accomodating and suggested that we are ordering a lot of food, which we realised afterwards! Ordered a mix grilled platter which is served with 3 portion of rice and a separate kobaida (which was unnecesary). Platter is enough for any meat lover. Also, ordered starter - humus with naan, which was very delicious and fullfiling. Would recommend it to anyone with a taste for Iranian food.

As an Iranian myself, I was very pleased with how authentic and delicious the food was. I had the ghormeh sabzi and the mixed grill, and they were both amazing. The atmosphere is also great, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. The second time I came here, I had the koobideh and fesenjoon; they too were incredible. Nothing but good things to say about this fantastic restaurant.

Amazingly cooked to perfection Koobideh and very warm and friendly staff. I could not fault the chef or restaurant. I recommend the platter for a group and definitely the koobideh! Best Iranian food in Cardiff! I will come again!

What an amazing restaurant. I went with four friends, my wife and my two boys. All the food was fantastic! The place is so welcoming and is spotless. Service is super friendly. I recommend the sea bass, platter for 4 and as many starters as you can fit in (portions are very generous)! Can’t wait to go back!!!

You can't go wrong here. The food is very authentic. The menu has all the great classics and everything I tried (stews, kebabs, starters, desserts) was delicious. The kind and friendly staff is the added value. A true gem.
