2023 update - dine in. Really good, tasty food. Service friendly and just right. 2021 - Ordered a takeaway for 3. Best Greek takeaway I've had in Cardiff. Really authentic flavours, kleftiko was delicious. Good fat chips, really soft bread, generous portions. Will definitely return, hopefully for a sit in!

Brilliant! It was my first visit here with family that come regularly. The food was lovely, the girl serving was very helpful and informative. The food was fast and fresh. Desert was OMG. The menu is simple and tasty. I will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend.

My wife and I visited Maria's Greek Taverna yesterday as my wife had never tried Greek cuisine before. I took her specifically to treat her for her birthday and a work friend of mine recommended this place. My first experience of having Greek food was in Crete in 2017 and since then, I have been a big fan of Greek cuisine but what makes Greek food always special is the love and passion Greek people pour into their dishes more than anything and it goes hand in hand with the nature of Greek people in general - one of the friendliest and most welcoming people on this planet. True to my words, the food that we ordered in Maria's Greek Taverna was top class, the service was beyond excellent, the ambiance was really amazing (really missing Crete now :D) and the people who served us were awesome. I should have taken their names but every staff we saw there were really welcoming, kind and friendly. My wife was absolutely delighted and she thoroughly enjoyed the dishes we chose. Mission accomplished XD This is easily one of the most recommended restaurants in Cardiff.

When we a party of 6 booked we were told they were very busy on the Saturday night. We excepted the revised time. It was very busy when we arrived and we waited a while before our order was taken. It was well worth the wait. The menu was very comprehensive and the food was excellent. Probably the best Greek food that we have had outside of Greece. Well worth a visit.

Lovely atmosphere. Was disappointing as the mussels they had wouldn’t open and the wine we wanted they didn’t have. Besides this the food we had was great and the staff were very accommodating for us.

Made a last minute booking for Maria’s, it’s a lovely diner/tavern for some Greek style food. Have been a couple of times before and the food has always been lovely. We ordered the seafood platter each with a couple of sides, it was very tasty and couldn’t fault it at all. Staff has always been great, they are always helpful and friendly. Restaurant is very bright with lots of seating space and can’t fault the facilities. Will definitely come back again and recommend a visit

Very delicious food at a very good price. Student friendly. Although we ordered a plater for 2 it’s defo enough for 3 people even 4. The smaller dishes are excellent as well. But the best is their warm pita bread freshly served.

Tidy little piece of Greece on cryws Road cardiff. We tried the beef stifado with chunky chips and salad , vinegarette dressing was a bit strong but over all was nice food 😎

I just had my souvlaki and halloumi fries...Halloumi was delicious but the souvlaki,the pita bread was straight from the fridge I guess as it wasn't cook at all plus the onion was way too many slices for one souvlaki...no I won't order again sorry...I ate it as I was starving...no shame

went friday night with my parents. had 2 meze dishes, the Greek sausage one and chili peppers stuffed wthe feta cheese alongside chunky chips. my mom had the mussels and my dad had the beef burgers stuffed with feta cheese. food was incredible, couldn't fault the service either- food came quickly despite it being quite busy. will definitely pay another visit in the future 😊

The food was delicious, originally Greek and authentic. Special thanks to the chef and his talent! The atmosphere was excellent and the music was lovely. One of the best restaurants in Cardiff and definitely a must-visit for all travellers!

A new find for us and an excellent choice, the food is exceptional, very tasty, well presented and very good value for money. My husband had the fish platter which was really lovely and I had lamb chops, beautiful cooked and presented.

Amazing place - best food in town. Authentic atmosphere, great service. Reasonable prices. The highlight is food - ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. Definitely recommend, I will come back - and will recommend to friends. Businesses like this must thrive!

Maria's Greek Taverna Cardiff Located at 68 Crwys Road A small family run authentic Greek taverna with a lovely atmosphere Food is authentically Greek and freshly prepared with the best ingredients We had the authentic Greek Sausage , Keftedes , Seafood Platter ( which was huge ) and home made Moussaka ( which was stunning ) We also had several ouzos, a carafe of house wine fiished off with Matexa brandies and Greek coffees The Taverna is run by a lovely young Greek couple who are so warm and friendly and gave us such a great welcome and we will be definitely returning soon If you are looking for an authentic Greek restaurant with fabulous food with a lovely welcome them Maria's is definitely the place for you We recommend it highly Jeff & Karen

Tasty, fresh food in an intimate and lively atmosphere. Given it 4 stars as the hummus and one of the main vegetarian dishes were not as good as they could have been. Us meat eaters were very happy with our dishes and portions. Recommended.

Lovely location and serving staff! Food really, really good. House wine lovely. Only one fault...my prawn starter was miniscule at best. Overall a great place.

Have only ever had takeaway from here before but went for dinner this time. Really friendly staff, food was fantastic and when there something off the menu due to supplies they went out and bought the extra ingredients to make it for us anyway. Really great customer service. Can't recommend this place enough.

Ave Maria's! Praise where it is due. Really enjoyable lunch today (New Years Day Bank Holiday) when many other establishments were not open. Haloumi fries, drizzled with honey (no mint as advertised on the menu), were moreish. Filo parcel of feta cheese were superb. The crispiness, lightness and noisiness of the bites were amazing. The main courses were substantial. Beef patties stuffed with feta were a big eat and very tasty, the chicken souvlaki flavoursome. Both accompanied by a fresh salad and soft and warm pitta bread. Definitely will revisit to explore many other inviting dishes on the menu.

The food we had here was absolutely delicious. The portion size is very generous but honestly so delicious, I couldn't leave it! It was my first time eating here and it won't be my last! Even though they were short staffed, we didn't have to wait long and those working there were really lovely. I would highly recommend a visit.

What a wonderful WONDERFUL restaurant. I would recommend this to anyone. The outside is very misleading, this should be in the centre of Cardiff instead of tucked away in Cathays. Such a gem. Owner, chef, the food, and the drinks were all top class. We will be back and we will be booking a trip to Greece again for our next holiday. Thank you.

Took my back to my favourite place for a couple of hours. I love Greece and tonight was the most beautiful, authentic Greek dining experience I've ever had anywhere. The staff were so friendly and made me and my girlfriend so welcome right from the very start. The food is big and very filling, great value for the price you pay and super tasty. The service was fast and friendly, lovely ambience and I think I'm going to become a regular at the beautiful restaurant after tonight's experience.

One of my favorite places in Cathays! The food is relatively light, healthy, and dang delicious. Be sure to order extra tzatziki, or some other small dish as, in my opinion it's the small details that make this place such a fun experience. In addition to the food, the staff are lovely and really add to the already very bright, clean, and calm mood of the space. It's particularly fun to just people watch with the large front window dominating the room! I've never been disappointed with Maria's.
