What a delight! Madeira oasis within the city. We had a dinner at Tŷ Madeira during our visit to Cardiff and it was the highlight of the evening - such authentic Portuguese cuisine we haven’t experienced in the UK. Lobster pasta had special notes in it’s taste and was of exceptional quality. Fish stew was terrific and sardines were the best I’ve had. Service was top notch as well. Ambience gets more romantic and magnificent the deeper you go into the restaurant. Must visit during your Cardiff stay, especially if you like authenticity, seafood, fish and proper service.

Lovely spacious and clean restaurant service the best Portuguese choice around. Very friendly and attentive staff, quick service and extremely tasty food. No faults whatsoever, highly recommended when in Cardiff town centre. 10/10.

Real nice meal, one of the best I have had in a while. Table at 530pm, place was very busy on arrive but this did not effect service. The waiting staff where all very friendly and laughing and joking with the customers all the time. It's a very friendly atmosphere. We had two of the prawn and monkfish skewers which where out of this world!! Really well seasoned and cooked. Great BBQ taste. The sides where also very high standard. I noticed the slice size on the red onion in the salad being very fine, care was taken to prepare these dishes. The kebab comes with a side of potatoes and battered coliflower which was to die for and the sauces (white or red) are very good and home made. We also ordered the Portuguese salad which was very nice. My wife ordered some sort of corn flower covered potatoe dish which was also amazing. Didn't see what is what called on the menu. Would highly recommend. Zero complaints and really enjoyed our evening out.

Probably the best Portuguese restaurant in the UK. And JB Toshack favourite venue in Cardiff. Amazing!

The restaurant is a bit overpriced. The kebab (pork & lamb) was chewy. Not to mention the portion… 6 cubes for £18.95 is out of my mind. Also, Espetada CASA, the dish for two (nearly £40) was not as expected either. It felt like it’s simple to duplicate at home. (Sorry to say that, maybe my taste & cooking skill has been levelled up during the pandemic. But it’s easy to order fresh seafood from fish mongers with a much better price!) Anyway, I would only suggest the Gambas (large prawn), very tender, full of flavours & special from daily choices. The service wasn’t excellent as well. To be honest, the food was not that bad, but comparing to other great BBQ & seafood restaurants in Cardiff, Ty Madeira was a bit overrated. It’s a good place to hangout but if you are picky in cuisines this won’t be the best to go.

It might become your favourite Portuguese Restaurant in Cardiff, but not with its service. I wandered in with my partner on Thursday afternoon and was immediately greeted by the friendly Portuguese speaking staff. Unfortunately, we were served by a non-Portuguese speaking waiter that wasn't so friendly. The team did not pay much attention to our table; wasn't very Suggestive. I found it is rude when the waiter told us that they have their own rules for steak and medium comes with blood. The chef is their saviour because the food is delicious. The size of the restaurant is impressive. It would be perfect for large groups, especially if you want to celebrate something. I witnessed a few birthday parties, and it was incredibly atmospheric with traditional Portuguese singing. However, the restaurant was not busy (it was about 4:00 pm). We ordered Gambas (large prawns in white wine & garlic), Fillet of Beef (marinated and grilled on long skewers) with cauliflower in Butter, rice with garlic and peas and Portuguese salad. The prawns were well balanced with butter and garlic, so the garlic was robust and not overpowering. The beef was very soft, juicy and melting on the tongue. The cauliflower could be their signature side dish. It was flavorful, with very little oil. Other side dishes were perfectly cooked and packed with flavours; vegies did not have much oil and were crispy; the salad was fresh.

Came here with my Girlfriend on my Birthday & had their 2 Course Set Lunch for £15.95 each excluding the cost of drinks & was everything authentically Portuguese. The Staff were very pleasant & efficient in all ways & the food plus Wine etc was very good. Not Cheap but, worth the money.

Don't be deceived by the facade as its a large restaurant that goes back a long way. The waiting staff were excellent. Nice food, had scallops from the Specials board as a starter which were perfectly cooked and the mussels were also delicious. For main we had one of the meat skewers that they hang from a hook on the ceiling beams and swordfish. These were served with fried potatoes & battered cauliflower which was surprisingly good. I was a little underwhelmed by the swordfish as felt it was slightly over cooked but my partner loved his skewer. Overall nice experience just wasn't wowed.

Visited Ty Madeira as a party of 7 for a birthday celebration on a week night. We found the service to be superb and the menu range excellent. Didn’t find the hanging chicken kebabs particularly flavoursome however and they were a little over-cooked for my liking. Additionally, you do need to book well in advance (months) if there are any music gigs or sporting events taking place in Cardiff on the day you’re due to visit. It took me repeated attempts to get a reservation here as it is very popular.

We initially thought this is a small Portuguese restaurant. We were amazed with the seating and capacity once we sat. We ordered several seafood dishes and you can taste the freshness of them. They have skewer - grills options, if we happened to stop by next time we definitely will try the skewer options !

Absolutely wonderful - worth 6 Stars of it were an option! You wouldn't necessarily expect much from the inconspicuous facade, but this Madeira/Portuguese restaurant is very big inside, and features and incredible menu. My personal suggestion would be to go for the Espetadas - massive skewers of meat that are hung up from hooks in the ceiling. All meat and fish is freshly shown at the counter, and the 3m long roasting/bbq is visible to the public. Before I forget, staff is awesome (especially the portuguese)!

Delicious meal and great service! Was delighted to find a little piece of Madeira while on a short holiday in Cardiff. The food was as good as any I've had in Madeira and the service was friendly and professional. Not sure when I'll be back in Wales, but I'll certainly be back when I am.

One of the best portuguese restaurantes in the Uk. As soon as you get in you see the quality of fish and meat that will later be cooked and you can follow all the process as kitchen is open. The meal made me very happy for several reasons: - quality of food (well cooked and home made flavour) - good environment - super friendly staff I strongly recommend a visit 😁

No nonsense serious restaurant run by serious people. Professional friendly service. The 16oz on the bone ribeye is of outstanding quality. Book this place, relax and enjoy it. It is a spectacular machine. May God bless the genius of the Portuguese! 10/10

I visited this place twice. First time was great. I enjoyed fresh seafood with rice even though the rice was a bit undercooked. But for the second time, I was very upset. Their grilled seafood are overpriced. This special menu (scallops) was drove me mad. I can’t believe that I had to pay for 3 small scallops with unflavoured taste.

Sorry that already eaten the food before camera. The Piri-Piri chicken was heavenly delicious. Seafood rice was plenty of fish and fresh, wonderful! We also had grilled squid and Gamba they were fresh and yummy.

Doesn't look much from the outside but it opens up to a nice large restaurant inside. Food is great especially the skewers and fish. The staff were really helpful with our allergy requirements. We have now been twice and will visit again when we are next in Cardiff.

First time at this restaurant and will definitely be going back. Staff were friendly and attentive. Decor is beautiful and surprisingly big and spacious inside. Menu that caters for everyone with good prices. Food was delicious and hot. Chicken I could cut with my fork as it was so soft and succulent.

This was a bit of a random internet pick for lunch for my dad, but it turned out to be a really good choice. Close to the train station, which was just as well as it was bucketing down with rain! Restaurant is bigger than it looks from outside. Food and prices were good. Definitely worth a visit.
