We recently enjoyed a delightful Sunday lunch at Heanys. For starters, we savoured the fishcake in coconut Thai sauce, bursting with flavour. Moving on to the main course, the succulent and tender lamb dinner had delightful hints of barbecue and garlic. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant.

This place is a gastronomical delight. I highly suggest the ‘long’ tasting menu - even though it was 10 courses, they are all lovely and small and manage to offer completely different flavour experiences. Of particular note was the incredible mackerel dish - it was a flavour explosion! Special shout-out to our server, who recommended a Georgian wine that was sublime! He also taught us (very patiently) how to say phrases in Welsh, and really went above and beyond!

I completely understand why this is one of the top places in Cardiff. Every course was delightful, the staff were lovely and the vibe was good. Our favourite courses were the bbq lamb (that gravy!) and the sea bass was so well seasoned and crispy. The ginger and vanilla parfait were a fab way to end the meal. All flavour combinations were spot on and overall as a menu it was perfectly balanced. I’ll be back, for sure.

Nice place for a meal with very friendly staff. I guess if you go to this restaurant is for the full menu (about £60-£70) but we thought it was a bit too much so we just ordered a couple of dishes each. It was our mistake because it was very expensive anyway and the plates were tiny. I would probably go back for the full experience but bad idea if you’re going to go halfway.

Been looking forward to going here for a while and was not disappointed, we had the full tasting menu without the wine pairing and it was all delicious. Would definitely recommend.

The baked custard Christmas desert was divine and worth 10/10. The wild sea bass main was also full marks. The trout starter was lacking a little je ne sais quoi so only gets 7/10. But overall it's a great meal out.

Awesome Sunday lunch - great mix of traditional, but modern, very well presented, and not over-priced either

Came here for our 1st wedding anniversary. Excellent restaurant with Michelin star quality food and service. We had the long tasting menu and each course was delicious. My wife is lactose intolerant and they accommodated to her needs with no issues. It is pricey but that is to be expected for the quality of food. Courses were weighted towards fish so non fish lovers would struggle with the tasting menu. But having said that I'm not a huge fan of fish but I enjoyed every course. Would definitely return again for a special occasion. I would expect this restaurant to be awarded a Michelin star in the near future.

We had a fantastic Sunday lunch here - from pre-prandial oysters on the terrace to the cured Gurnard and Duck Rillettes for starters right through to the mains of dry aged beef and barbecue lamb - everything both looked and tasted delicious. Wonderful Sunday vibe with superb service - can’t recommend highly enough.

The menu was a bit confusing for us but we loved every dish! The oysters were very fresh and the trout tartare was amazing. Service was good, had a bit of a wait for the lamb but everything else was speedy. Loved the fact that they explain every dish to us. Will definitely come back again. £75 per person is a bit expensive but for this quality of food I think it was 100% worth it. Surprised they don’t have any Michelin stars as they taste as good as those restaurants that do!

Incredible experience - Food was delicate, light and tasty. Really worth going for the long menu. One might think you will be hungry after small portions but out of 7 dishes we were full! They also wrote a lovely birthday card for us.

Great Sunday Roast set menu. We tried the Beef & Pork mains and both were delicious. Don’t be deceived by the fine dining portion sizes, we walked away absolutely stuffed! Staff were all attentive & lovely, we shall definitely be returning soon.

10*s out of 5. Truly the best meal I've had since December 2019. Every mouthful a treat from oysters to scallops and lamb. Sauces and broths amazing. Brilliant service. I'd struggle to find such value for money at this quality of food, preparation and service in many other parts of the UK.

We had the August tasting menu and it was absolutely incredible, the attention to detail in all dishes was outstanding as were the flavours and presentation. Really felt like Michelin star food! Staff were lovely and great at explaining all the dishes. Thank you for a fantastic experience, we will definitely be back again soon!

Very accomplished kitchen, been a couple of times now and both were great. Only slight minuses are music sometimes a bit loud and lighting too cold and direct in the evening. In summer eating outside on the terrace is delightful.

I tried the taster menu at this restaurant on a family night out. This restaurant is situated a bright and well presrnted venue in Pontcanna. Parking can be a bit of an issue so plan your transport ahead. The dishes on the taster menu were beautifully presented and prepared. I highly recommend trying this menu. The staff were very knowledgeable and courteous. A fantastic experience.

The best meal I've ever eaten!! We had the tasting menu and it was exquisite, the combination of flavours were delicious and very well thought out. Every dish was well presented. The service was excellent with each dish explained and the atmosphere was great. Will definitely be visiting again. Michelin star quality.

Looking through the reviews I’m beginning to think we missed something. Perhaps we caught them on the wrong day. Overall the food is good quality however 80% of our dishes on the tasting menu were fish based which was a bit much, especially when they’re cold. A lot of the ingredients were involved in a number of dishes which did detract from the concept of a tasting menu as a lot of the flavours blended across the dishes. We didn’t enjoy the caviar or the foam which appeared in a number of dishes. One detail that is easily fixed is the acoustics of the restaurant, we really struggled to have conversation at our table as the noise was very loud as a result of the hard furnishings and questionable choice of music. These are easily fixed and actually with a handful of changes this restaurant could really elevate itself to a high level. Clearly a talented chef and service team, with some of the above points taken on board this would easily be a 5 star potential. Unfortunately in London restaurants like this are 2 a penny. This said, overall, we still had a decent evening. Cocktails and wine menu were very good.

Just a fantastic experience from start to finish. My wife and I have wanted to visit for nearly two years now and we both went for the tasting menu. Standouts for us were the plaice dish and the fermented oyster. The sourdough with marmite butter is fantastic. Special mention for our main server Claudia who was a credit to Heaneys. We'll be back next time we are in Cardiff.

What an amazing lunch. Outstanding food and great service. Can't wait to go back again. Our sourdough bread with marmite butter to start and a little taste of pork belly with mint sauce started the meal. Both were delicious. Then I had the crab custard and tomato tartlet with smoked sardine and lime mayo. Every mouthful was delicious. My main meal pork belly, cheek, scotch egg and beetroot looked too pretty to eat but, again, it was amazing. The scotch egg had a taste of curry and the pork belly was amazing. Every mouthful had something different to enjoy. My dessert chocolate, banana miso, Jerusalem artichoke and walnut finished off the meal perfectly. The chocolate was so smooth. I finished with coffee and another little extra a creamy piece of Fudge!!! It was lunch heaven. Well done!!!

Absolutely wonderful Sunday lunch that started perfectly with marmite butter which was delicious 🤤 Buttermilk Duck tasted wonderful but too spicy for my wife The monkfish with wasabi caviar tasted divine We both had the beef 🥩which was melt in the mouth with so many vegetables we couldn’t eat more than half The Yorkshire puddings were Jurassic large We had both desserts to finish: Strawberry 🍓 & Prosecco plus Black Forest A bottle of White wine Finca Lorosco Chilean Sauv Blanc supported the meal beautifully 🥰 We left having thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon & planning when to go again 😎

Always a fantastic food experience here. Relaxed, comfortable environment with absolutely top end food. Their Sunday roasts are the best I've had but, like anything that's this good, you'll have to book well in advance for a table. I recently booked a taster menu with friends and again, it simply did not disappoint. One of my favourite restaurants in Cardiff. Highly recommended!

Absolutely blown away by the brilliant food here. We had the set menu and the value and quality of the food was seriously impressive. With the menu changing to regularly I think you'd always be in for a treat. We'll be back again to try out the tasting menu!
