We phoned to book and they were able to accommodate a party of 11 at short notice. We were multi-generational with young children in tow and everyone enjoyed their food. The cocktails were lovely and the thali was amazing. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. If we lived in Cardiff we’d be back every week!

Fantastic Indian restaurant in the heart of the city. The Ambience is fantastic and food is as authentic as it gets. The only reason for the 4 star is that the masala chai wasn't good. I wouldn't order that here again but everything else was amazing. Highly recommend this place for authentic Indian food. Price was also reasonable. Happy with the experience :)

Had an unexpected wonderful meal at Chai street, very close to the authentic indian food in taste, the spice levels being just perfect :) The staff are absolutely down to earth making the environment welcoming and warm, special thanks to Atul and Nishant for coming to our table for a chit-chat. A must visit when in central Cardiff.

Absolutely delicious, authentic cuisine. When dining out for Indian you want the best blend of flavour and heat and this restaurant delivered both for our mixed group of spice sensitivity (from hot to not). Very very impressed and will see you again soon. Thank you.

One of the best restaurants in Cardiff , good location, simple ambience and variety of cuisine. A bit crowded but it's worth the visit.

Excellent Indian food in this lovely part of Cardiff with so many food options! The ambience is nice and we quite liked the brightly overdone decor. Wide range of options on the menu - was quite difficult to choose. Do try out the Indian style Chinese though. Service was patient and efficient. Food was delicious, presented well and filling. Even if advertised as grab n go, is a nice place to dine in

Very nice take away today. I wasn't too sure about the bowls serving, it was slightly smaller than a normal curry but good size. Had chicken jalfrezi which was very good and had a nice kick to it. Rice, bread was good and Bombay potatoes were good if slightly dry. The Shish kabab starter was very nicely presented. Overall very good with helpful staff. Around £28 with a pint.

Found this while looking for Indian restaurant after 3 days of travel. Small but very nicely done with bright ambience and nice music. Ordered veg and chicken thali along with butter chicken with rice from kids menu. The Currys were quite suffi client and we had to order extra Naans. The thali came with one naan and little rice which does not match with quantity of Currys. The taste was quite good and quite. Good options to try out. Will try to visit again for more... Note: we entered near closing time and somehow convinced at reception to let us have dinner ...we were last to leave

Nice cosy spot fusion Indian street food but limited interactions with customers and nit the ideal service you would expect considering a 10 percent service charge is added automatically.

Tasty food with lots to choose from, both food and drink. Service was a bit slow, albeit a busy day. Price reflects food. Lychee cocktail was delicious!

Pretty good food, but pretty expensive for the amount you get. They managed to add little surcharges to all of us, making it quite a dear night. Relatively nice vibe and nice interior. Great location.

Nice Indian restaurant with Bar Waiting time 30 minutes Ambience is good. You have both outdoor and indoor tables. Thallies and food are nice. Quantity of rice in Thalli is not sufficient so you might need to get more. Taste is good. Nice place to have Indian food. Suggestions to restaurant. You can provide napkins, pepper and salt in tables.

Flat stret entrance. Disability accessible. Caters for families and vegetarians. Good menu and drink options, cocktails are good. Well, it's worth a visit. Food very tasty but filling. Recommend the Vegetarian Thali. Takeaway also available.

Authentic Indian restaurant, right in the middle of city centre. Good food, great taste. The chole bhature and vegetarian thalis were amazing. Kid friendly, high chairs available. Nice staff, attractive indian decor. Good experience all in all.

Came here last night, the service was good and pretty quick, but unfortunately the food just wasn’t that great. The curry was nice and the chicken was well-cooked but the rice was quite watery and there were literal pools of water on my plate. I also went to the restroom while I was here and it was quite dirty! The hand dryer wasn’t working, the toilet roll had been left on the side on a piece of carpet that looked like a beer mat, the toilet itself was stained. We had reserved a table ahead of time but the restaurant was accepting walk-ins and it wasn’t too busy. However, overall, I’d probably recommend somewhere else over this place.

I recently dined at a restaurant that left me with mixed feelings. The ambiance was inviting and comfortable, creating a pleasant atmosphere for a meal. The spice level of the food was just right, catering to various tastes, and the availability of a student discount was a thoughtful touch, making it affordable for many. What impressed me the most was the excellent customer engagement. The staff was attentive and made sure patrons felt valued throughout their dining experience. However, one aspect that fell short was the format of the menu. It lacked creativity and failed to capture the essence of the restaurant’s offerings, leaving much to be desired in terms of presentation and excitement. Looking ahead, I hope to see the restaurant venture into more innovative culinary territories, particularly by introducing Pan-Asian fusion dishes. This addition could elevate their menu and provide patrons with a unique dining experience, further establishing the restaurant as a go-to destination for food enthusiasts. Overall, the restaurant offered a good dining experience with room for improvement. With a bit of menu reimagining and continued excellent customer service, it has the potential to become a standout culinary destination in the future.

Had a lovely experience. Nice ambience. Ordered thali which I think is their speciality, did not disappoint me but thalis I had at some of the other places included sweets like a piece of gulab jamin or barfi or something which was missing, did not include raita. Other than that lovely food had it mango lassi good combo. Steep but there is a charge for the nice ambience I suppose. The staff was super friendly. Thank you so much for having us

Went for the first time today, I will definitely be back! I love Indian food and everything was so delicious, the smells hit you as soon as you walk in. Was a lovely atmosphere, very busy but the food was quick. Cocktails were really well priced as they were £5.50 and were quite big and strong compared to other places in the area that charge £8 for weak cocktails. Can’t wait to come back and try more things on the menu! (I got onion, spinach and kale Bhaji & chicken momo for starter and the chef special Thali)

First meal in Cardiff, and I can say it was the best decision. Aromatic, flavoursome dishes that were very authentic. Nice open kitchen layout, and right in the heart of the busy city centre. Proper street style food cooked by experienced chefs, and prices were reasonable.

I always missed dining in Indian restaurants because of the high prices in London. Chai street was a much needed break for me. Chole Bhature was absolutely delicious. The management was really nice. Would visit again.

Absolutely abysmal. No exaggeration here, we had 25% off, paid £21 and it was barely enough food for 1 person. £5 for 3 small pieces of chicken tikka. Lime and pickle with the chutneys is literally half a tea spoon?? Popadoms were just crushed to pieces. Look at the images that's half of the total we ordered. Rang the company to complain, they weren't arsed, were very rude, and said 'that's our portion sizes.'

Visited this restaurant in Cardiff. The location is on the to Cardiff Castle infront of souvenir shop. It's a street style Indian food restaurant. We ordered a quick lunch Noodles & curry rice combo with mocktail and chai. The food was lip smacking and perfectly spicy that we get in India. The service was great, the staff named Mr. Pranav was jolly and helpful , he recommended us the drink that my husband liked very much. If ur are going to visit Cardiff Castle you can find this restaurant on the way just within 50-100 meters.. their iconic Indian styled truck cabin put outside will definitely catch your attention. Interior is also good, we preferred to sit as the weather was also nice.

Nice place with very good food. Not your usual curry house, more of a 'street food' kind of offering. So it was interesting to try unusual things, but very enjoyable. Recommended if u fancy a change.

Good food and excellent service by the staff. Staff was very friendly and making sure that we are ok, also asking about food quality and if we needed anything else. However the bill was quite a surpirse for us. 3 stars for heavy service fees and the prices. We are a family of 3, for 2 thalis and o e biryani with coldrinks, the total bill was £68

I have tried many Indian restaurants in Cardiff and around the world, but we keep coming to here because it’s the best one until now. Even my kids love their meals

A very nice restaurant for Indian food in Cardiff. A nice mallu ambience inside the restaurant, with malayalm songs playing in the background. The food was good, but I felt the portions were little compared to other Indian restaurants. Overall, the food is good. And the staff are friendly.

A nice indian restaurant in the city center of Cardiff. Average food, highly priced and very small portions. Probably won't go there next time. But one has to go there themselves to explore it.

I was blown away by the exceptional Chai here. It’s been 3 years that I found proper masala chai in Wales and boy was I happy! The ambiance is really good and they have a great menu too. The staff and pretty friendly and chatty like yours truly which was an added bonus for me! It’s now my go to place 💯
