OK. So this is the story. We booked this place as it was central, seemed family friendly and had a pool. A week before we were due to go we received an email to say that the swimming pool was out of action as maintenance had taken longer than expected. I was a bit grumpy at this because a swimming pool was a priority for us as we have kids. One phone call later they offered a 20% discount which would enable us to pay for a couple of visits to the local pool. We were happy at this. When we arrived everything was just as you would expect: a fairly standard modern chain hotel. The range of food available for breakfast we excellent and the full English buffet was fresh and regularly topped up. Upon leaving I went to pay for the parking but was told that this too was waived. I was shocked at this. They went above and beyond to make sure that we were happy. They really turned a negative first impression around to a positive. I will definitely look to book a Novotel again - both for work trips and family holidays.

Stayed for two nights over New Year's Eve. The Novotel entrance is very beautiful. The restaurant/bar is stylish and cozy. Swimming pool is big and there is a extra lane for fast swimmers. Jacuzzi works well. Steam room is in a good condition and has no moldy smell like in Harbor Hotel Bristol. Sauna is fine. The location of Novotel is very practical. There is a supermarket across the road. The city center is about 10 minutes away. The facilities are in a good condition. It does not stink like henry vacuum cleaner. The bathroom in the room is clean , big and practical. It is warm in rooms during the winter. Very satisfied with Novotel Cardiff ! And Cardiff it self. Would like to come back again.

Lively atmosphere and great food.Amazing location right by the city centre. The facilities were clean .The pool was very 'kid friendly' all through the day and at night. Wouldn't be amazing for those wishing for a quiet swim. Lovely touches in the room including bottled water tissues and shower gel. I would overall recommend to those wishing for a nice stay. P.s don't bother with the pancakes they took forever and the machine kept braking.

Stayed for 2 nights for our 1st anniversary. Great location. On site parking which was available till 6pm on day of departure. Good check in + check out times. Good size room. Very comfy bed. Plenty of fresh towels available. Had evening meal and buffet breakfast, good food! Would recommend and definitely stay again :)

Room was not very clean. Hadn't been hoovered properly, bits in the bath. Carpet was very badly stained. Swimming pool, sauna, and steam room were nice and all the staff we encountered were very helpful and friendly. Sharing the hotel with 160 refugees is not ideal! Most of the children think the lifts are a toy! Took 15 minutes to get the lift with our bags. Breakfast was poor quality. They are using the cheapest ingredients they can source. Not what you'd expect from a 4-star hotel. Will not be returning any time soon.

A very lovely hotel, A little over-run with refugees when I visited the children just run around didn't bother me because I have kids myself but some it would bother. Me and my children made amazing use of the pool. The rooms were big & clean the breakfast was phenomenal it was a help yourself buffet style no corners cut the buffet catered to everybody. My only complaint was no air con which would've been brilliant as my daughter fell ill in the evening with a fever

The staff were wonderful at the hotel and went above and beyond from the bar/kitchen to reception to make our stay enjoyable. Location is great, out the way of the centre but still easy travel. We also enjoyed the pool area. Only bad comment would be the bed and room. Unfortunately our bed was extremely hard to sleep on and the cleanliness of the room wasnโ€™t great.

Excellent is an understatement to describe the hotel and its attendants. Breakfast is plentiful, delicious and fresh. The pool is very clean. We were very well received. Thanks to the New Hotel staff and also to the Welsh people. Finally to everyone. Cardiff is wonderful!

We needed help and advice on our trip to Cardiff for a formal Covid test. I spoke to Marcus on reception and he was so helpful and reassuring.. could answer all our questions. Can't thank him enough!

Great welcome from reception and all staff we met were friendly and helpful and prepared to go the extra mile. Breakfast very average. Room though spacious and airy was tired looking and the bathroom was in need of an upgrade - bath had stains and front of shower not properly cleaned. There were also left over products left on the high shelf inside shower cubicle from previous users. Water for shower good pressure but ran cold and hot in quick succession several times during use in between a reasonable temperature. Public spaces were clean and well looked after.

Staff were very friendly, room was clean and not overly noisy despite being on a busy road. Very comfortable sleep. Easy to park not overly expensive, great breakfast (additional cost) and on site facilities. The only downside is the shower, no matter how you set it, it would randomly turn freezing and then scolding hot maintain and then repeat freezing, scolding hot. On departure we informed reception as it was only one night not too problematic for us but a few days we would not be happy.

Amazing hotel! Nothing bad to say the people were lovely, the food was amazing and so was the service! There's a swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi and steam room so perfect for a spa break! The food is high quality and definitely fill you up and the people working in the restaurant are so kind and lovely too! I took a lot of food photos than the place or hotel room but even the hotel room was lovely it had a bath and shower the products for shower are rituals karma which smells amazing and the room is huge! Only bad thing was the air conditioning wasn't working but we were given a fan the day we arrived so no complaints!

Modern hotel with secure parking, good location, facilities, and breakfast buffet. Customer service was excellent from everyone we talked to, special thanks to Ronia for waiving the car park fee which I was not expecting. Would definitely stay again.

Stayed here a couple of times in January and have had a thoroughly enjoyable stay! Breakfast is a good choice of colds and cooked, room was spacious and nice views from the lift up. Dinner in the restaurant was also good! And Anthony, the gentleman serving us was helpful and went above and beyond! Live musician playing on a Thursday around 5pm/7pm. Pool and gym too! And parking right by the entrance in a barrier car park. Will stay here again next time Iโ€™m in Cardiff for sure.

Lovely hotel, first time in a novotel. Big room, comfy bed, TV bigger than my living room. Had a bath and a waterfall shower, nice toiletries. Bar wasn't too expensive, good spirit and beer selection. Really nice sauna and steam. Receptionist friendly and helpful, saw my gojira t-shirt and told me directions for the arena without asking.

Stayed here for 1 night over Christmas, mainly so kids could have a swim on Boxing Day. Arrived to find pool was closed due to a fault, was offered 20% off plus free breakfast. Didn't get 20% off as I'd already booked at lowest rate. Bit of a disappointment, but we needed somewhere to stay. Had 2 rooms, one had a faint aroma of sewage, both rooms were quite shabby and could be cleaner Breakfast room quite cold, and selection of food is just not up to the price that they are charging, luckily, it was free for me. Stayed in Novotel all over Europe, this hotel is just not up to the standards I'm used to with this brand I'm afraid

Good hotel just South of the city centre. I stayed here in 2019 and again in 2023. Excellent facilities for those with a car as parking is free. Unfortunately the air conditioning didn't work during my most recent visit. However, the service was excellent. The reception staff were friendly and the staff at the breakfast restaurant were amazing. I was served by Mr Lit who was always smiling and very helpful and courteous. The breakfast is strongly recommended and always fresh.

Stunning rustic decor. Lovely quiet location near the wharf but still walking distance to the centre. Staff were helpful and friendly. The room was spacious and clean. The bathroom had Rituals toiletries! Breakfast was good quality. Reasonably priced. The only downside was the tv. It's a large screen but I was not able to use streaming apps. Would definitely visit again.

We loved our short shopping break at Novotel. Staff are great , mostly friendly, especially Marcus who made us welcome and the restaurant staff. The beds were comfortable and the only thing I would grumble about is the shower as it kept switching hot to cold but wasn't terrible. The leisure and spa facilities are lovely also. Everywhere was clean and well equipped. We will definitely be back soon

Always loved coming here over the years - the service is fantastic, especially in the Goods Shed bar where Iโ€™ve had many a late night. Anthony, the manager, is super friendly and always goes out of his way to help and make you feel comfortable and welcome. Heโ€™s been awesome. Canโ€™t recommend this hotel enough, whether for an overnight stay or just a drink and a bite to eat in the bar.

Being familiar with Novotel hotels around the world, this was my first choice. My son was the manager at the one in NYC. Nice hotel and friendly staff. A bit of a walk to the city center but I didn't mind. Located in a quiet neighborhood. Great menu at The Customs Shed. Good breakfast to get your day started. You cannot go wrong with the Accord family of hotels.

My rating is based purely on my family's experience at this hotel. David, Okshana, & Anthony (in the restaurant with his lovely crew) effortlessly went out of their way to help make our stay enjoyable and hugely memorable. They knew it was our little girl's 7th birthday and added personal touches to our stay that made me forever grateful. Although we spent a great deal of time in the pool, sauna, steam room and hot tub, we looked forward to our interactions with the folks at reception and in the Bar / restaurant who were all highly engaging and attentive. Although we had a challenge during our stay, it was dealt with swiftly, professionally & with care. Thanks again David & crew for a wonderful 3 days. We're looking forward to many, many more visits in the future. Marc & the girls from Room 319.

Location is fine, on the outskirts of the city centre. Facilities are good, the shower took a while to warm up. The staff are polite and happy, they stored my bag prior to check-in. An empty water bottle was left outside my room before I had even arrived, there was a couple of others on the corridor which was odd. Been then for hours. Biggest gripe is that the room is very noisy, sounds like the outside fan or similar. Complained at reception and there is nothing they can do (nowhere to move to). I'm visiting with work, and personally will choose a different hotel next time to avoid the risk of the fan. Discounts on rooms etc don't go to me, so a good night sleep is most important.

Arrived early, staff was very kind didn't wait too long and they sorted a room out but it wasn't clean properly and it smells. There is a computer game on the kids was happy to use it and kill some time. When to front disk and they changed the room for us quickly, which was excellent. Went to the restaurant at the time we booked (3:30 Christmas day) they were busy and food is good but mostly cold. Front of house staff chat behind the bar a lot and the chief had to take the food out a few time to give it to the staff to sever to table. Overall, it was good and will return.

Great hotel with great facilities and fantastic staff. The rooms are clean, well-appointed, and spacious. The evening meal we decent and the beer was great. Breakfast was spot on and had a little to suit everyone's taste. The check-in staff, the bar staff, the waiting staff, and the checkout staff were all great. Well worth booking in here if you are in Cardiff.

  • 4/5 Rick S. 6 months ago on Google
It only loses one star because the room was so hot, as the location of the hotel is superb. A fan was provided, but the room was still too warm for us. Breakfast was okay, but nothing to write home about; the hot food could have been hotter (unlike our room!) There is an excellent pool, sauna and steam room which we made good use of.

we were upgraded to a superior room which was a nice surprise and it had great amenities. I would say the bathroom was a definite let-down being very dated and the grout was dirty on the floor. I think if we had paid the full rate it would have been a real issue. Great spa facilities although it was a bit less relaxing when kids swimming lessons were happening, might have been good to let us know the timings of these beforehand. All the staff were fab, and the location was great. Would stay here again.

The main area is up to date and inviting. The restaurant is beautiful and the service is excellent. We celebrated a friends wedding anniversary and the general manager came out to wish our friends well, he also brought desserts for them to enjoy! The rooms have a working safe and refrigerator but need a good cleaning. The carpets are dirty and the shower isnโ€™t much better.

Quite a nice hotel. Parking is expensive. Food i restaurant is very good. Little tasty in price. But good. Staff very friendly. 15min walk to the town and the bay. Would and probably will stay there again. But the key cards are a joke. Everyday. No. Every time i went to the room the key card wouldnt unlock the door. You guys need to get some new cards as the media is clearly no good!

Biggest draw was allowing the dog to stay, then find this does not include the bar! Had to leave our dog in the room when we went to eat (having found that Cardif is not dog friendly, walking around). Room could have done with a hoover. Steam room and pool etc great and breakfast was pleasant with fantastic staff. Paper cups and tea bags etc in a zip bag in room a bit poor, I'm sure a couple of cups on a tray wouldn't harm!

  • 5/5 Jon S. 2 years ago on Google

Went to Cardiff for a Wedding and we stayed here. Really enjoyed it, it was only two nights and we didn't venture in to the bar/restaurant too much. We had two teas and two breakfasts (which were nice but super expensive for what they were). If were ever in Cardiff again we will absolutely be considering this hotel again!

Hotel was ok. Staff were very welcoming. Breakfast wasnโ€™t that good, no vegetarian options and the Evening meal was pricey for what it was. Room was spacious but I donโ€™t think itโ€™s a 4* hotel.

Lovely, welcoming, warm staff. Love the diversity here. Also good standard of breakfast, lots of varieties available. Staff are very professional, and always willing to help. My sister recommended this lovely hotel to us, and we are happy that we booked to stay here. The staff make this place a very happy environment. I highly recommend this lovely happy hotel.

This would be zero stars if possible We arrived 2 women and 2 teenage daughters for a birthday. When we arrived we noticed there were around 20 children in the car park running round with a heavy male presence. The hotel was not clean it smelt and we decided instantly not to eat there. We went out and returned at 7pm. The reception was full of male residents who have been given refuge in the hotel. The men were laughing at our daughters, followed us down our corridor. We decided to check the pool out. The shower had human excrement in there and there were around 9 men in the pool who made my daughters very uncomfortable. I spoke to the woman in reception after we felt staying was not an option and they told me they do understand but can't tell us this was the case in advance. We had to get collected y a family member as we could not get a refund instantly to book a different hotel. I would never book a Nova again. This is one of the worst experiences I have had as a regular traveller.

Booked this hotel for a couple of nights for wife's birthday. The leisure facilities were very good. However the room along with the rest of the hotel was very tired with stained carpets & stained bedding. ( spilled drinks , blood , vomit etc ) After a few hours in the hotel we began to realise why the place was looking grubby. There are about 2 hundred afghan refugees staying at hotel for several months apparently. Children running riot all over the place using it as a playground. Playing in the lifts all day long. We cancelled the breakfast we had paid for as they were just running about. Not relaxing at all. The men were rude & arrogant. The staff try their best but their hands are tied & they are visibly getting fed up. Trade in bar area is now non existent. It's commendable what the hotel chain is doing but it's to the detrement of its reputation. This is supposed to be a 4 star hotel but its become a refugee camp & I dont believe that guests paying upwards of ยฃ100 a night should experience these kind of issues. All in all not a very pleasant stay but I assume giving these people bed & board is very lucrative. It doesn't take long to loose a good reputation but it takes a bloody long time to get it back.

Novotel Schooner Way was my wedding venue and we had the most wonderful wedding day - absolutely perfect for us. The wedding package was absolutely excellent value, the venue is gorgeous, the accommodation was so comfortable, the food was delicious (during the day and during the evening) and the staff were entirely incredible. The team could not have done any more for us, they were all amazing - so genuinely lovely and attentive throughout our stay to us, the newlyweds, but also to every single one of our guests. Staff are an absolute credit to the Novotel and made the entire weekend feel extra special. It was an absolutely brilliant experience and I can't recommend it enough to everyone. We are going back to spend our anniversary there cause we loved it!

Cannot fathom how this is a 4-star hotel. 1 - There is no air con in some of the rooms. After two staff members told us maintenance would look into it. The following day another staff member mention that no air-con is common in a lot of the rooms, and that we had booked one of those rooms? Gave us a fan to compensate... 2 - Showers fluctuate from cold to extremely hot. Tried a bunch of settings and there is no way to get around this. 3 - Booked specifically for the sauna and pool. Both were closed for one of the two nights we stayed. No sign of compensation. I would not recommend this hotel, you'll receive far better service for the same price elsewhere. I'll be passing this experience on to others. No doubt there'll be a generic copy/paste response below this from the staff. The decent thing to do would be to compensate those who've had a bad experience. I've stayed in nicer hostels...

Clean, warm, nice big TV and a fridge ๐Ÿ‘Œ Nice bar and restaurant, food was good. Unfortunately asylum seekers were being interviewed on the next table to me during breakfast, maybe a separate room would be a good idea, and I don't advise going for breakfast in shorts and t-shirt, was freezing in restaurant, maybe coat hat and scarf ๐Ÿฅถ
