Good value for money, clean and all facilities you could expect from a chain hotel. Coffee and tea facilities provided. Bed was comfy and room temperature good. Plenty of parking around the hotel and services near by. Reason for the 4 starts the bar pricing and snacks is a bit much compared to the value tou get for the hotel. It cost us £17 for a taxi from the centre of Cardiff so much cheaper to stay out here than in the centre if you don't mind a 20 minute ride. Will definitely use again.

The staff on arriving were amazing, friendly and welcoming. They helped with all our questions and made sure we logged our car in as this is permit based parking. The room was comfortable, no frills but that's all that's needed. I paid £31 for the night which for what we got was amazing. Right on the out skirts of Cardiff, so was easy to get too and easy to go in to the city. Highly recommend. However the only negative is we had 2 towels, which meant my wife washed her hair and took a long time to dry with the hair dryer. Maybe an extra towel or 2 wont go a miss.

Over whelming smell of bleach upon entering the room. Furniture literally falling apart and looking tired. However it was clean and the people were great..so up grade your accommodation. Keep your people..All the best..

Nice room. No AC but it was clean and tidy. Food for breakfast was nice but at 9am and still 1 hour to go the cooked breakfast was only luke warm. 2nd day was better. Great service from the team.

I checked in last night and the lovely stuff called Esaam who helped me so much with check in and how to park my car as I got my friend car and my car as well! They helped me so much and check in smoothly! And when I check out it was smooth as well. Highly recommend and will come back soon

The room was big and facilities were good. Room was fairly clean. There were remainds in the sink from previous stay. Remote control was under the bedsheets. Apart from that all was good.

To start off, we booked as an 8 person trip with 2 people in each room (4 rooms total) and we can honestly say it was one of the better hotels we have stayed in for a while. The staff were great (sadly didnt get their names but whoever was working on the 11th of February) and the facilities/location of the hotel was great for us (we came in 2 vehicles) Rooms: The rooms we were given were 212, 215, 216 and 226 and we honestly cant fault much with these rooms, the beds were comfortable and the rooms were in an overall good condition. My only faults with the rooms in this hotel were the paper-thin walls that could hear anyone walking down the hallway and the not-so-clean bathroom. One last thing was the slightly broken window in our room (216) as the latches were very loose and we weren't able to fully close one of the windows, allowing us to hear anyone outside that was walking past/driving past to the fuel station across the road. Other than those things the rooms were a great place to stay for the weekend considering we only paid £42 each for the night. 9/10 recommended. Location: Location of the hotel is great if you have a car/take a taxi since i don't know much about the local transportation links to central Cardiff. But a 17 minute drive to the centre of Cardiff, 23 mins to the bay area and a simple 3 minute walk across the road to a KFC, Burger king, WHSmith's and petrol station, all in one location. 10/10 Recommended Staff/Service: Staff were amazing during our stay, chatting with us and asking about our plans and even letting us play pool without issues for a couple hours in the early hours of the morning, No faults with the team except the cleaning staff, sadly this is the only downfall to the ibis Cardiff team as they were very loud at early hours in the morning, banging on doors and even letting themselves into our room at around 9am despite having the do-not-disturb sign on the door. Luckily they realised their mistake before they woke my friend who was in the room with me up. Other Guests: There were surprisingly not that many people here other than a couple of groups, obviously this can change drastically depending on the time of year but overall the people were very nice and accommodating even in the hotel lobby. Parking: Parking is free, on site for as many days as you register. Just make sure you actually select the amount of days you are staying and enter your reg number correctly otherwise you'll be receiving a parking fine when you leave.

Stayed here for a quick overnight to drop daughter off at uni. Can’t fault the place. Clean, comfortable room, dog friendly and Esaam was very helpful and friendly.

Standard room, double bed, location at services, Asda 15 min walk. Sleep quality was reasonable too. WiFi, TV all fine and the breakfast wasn't too bad, nice Ham, cheese plus fruit salad was good. Also they serve the standard English breakfast items, which were occasionally a little slow getting replenished. Coffee was pretty good too.

staff where friendly. rooms are a bit dated but manageable and what you would expect from a budget room my only real complaint would be noise from a few room that sounded like they where having a party. the location I fine in regards to it being easy access to Cardiff and the bay. overall I would stay again

Room basic but really clean with nice, big walk in shower. This was a dog friendly room on the ground floor and it was super easy to access. We had a great nights sleep. Lady on reception was super friendly and helpful providing a warm welcome. Great location as easy to reach. Parking was directly outside and no problem. Services a minutes walk... Just watch the road 🙂.

Stayed 2 nights ago. It was fine. Was 68 pounds which was 30 cheaper than the nearest Travelodge. Way too hot in there but receptionist (Bea) did provide a fan. She also saved me money by signing me up to the Accor account thing. Friendly and efficient at the same time. Everything worked, clean. Good location for Cardiff city centre. Wifi was decent in my room.

Horrible hotel. They issued a key to someone who was not even on my reservation and therefore jeopardized my safety and invaded my privacy. The person who the clerk gave a key to was one I parted ways with in London since this person was rude, belligerant, erratic and downright awful. Thank goodness I was not harmed. I've requested a full refund. Shame on this hotel for being so nonchalant about my safety and privacy.

Clean, tidy room on the outskirts of Cardiff, enjoyed our Breakfast and had a great stay here.

Frequent visitor to Cardiff. I have always used Ibis Cardiff Gate with my Mom. Very bad experience on our most recent visit. Nothing was resolved, reception and bar staff were non attentive. Food was appalling. Housekeeping staff very friendly however and this saved the trip from being a living nightmare. This hotel has significantly declined after learning Cody is no longer an employee at the hotel. The hotel and the social area was a friendly vibrant place when Cody was at work. He engaged with us as the guests. We will not be returning to the hotel in the future. We will search for another hotel.

Rooms were basic, dark and not as clean as they might be. Food facilities were basic but functional. Staff were lovely, helpful and friendly. For a cheap and convenient business stop the place does the job.

Despite being in the services station it was the most pleasant stay we had. Maybe it was the waterfall walk we did that day but it was so comfy and cosy. The showers are excellent, clean and tidy everywhere. We brought KFC in from the service shops and brought it in no hassle id definitely recommend. The location didn't put us off rebooking at all, if anything it was so quiet. The staff were very polite.

The breakfast was really poor there was almost nothing there and even the bread for toasting was still frozen, it was difficult to separate the bread to allow to get into the toast, the was just a small selection of cereals and UHT milk and some French pastries. In addition I want to check out a day early I informed reception and was give the run around abut the manage have to give refunds. I ask again in the most and was tod the manage would do it when he got to work but I was change for and got an invoice for the full 3 day stat.

Disappointing stay. Room was ok, but I'd booked a quiet area, the corridor was pretty noisy up until midnight. Cental light in room not working, so it was dark and gloomy, toilet needed a good bleach. My husband wanted a pint, but that was flat and off, no red wine at the bar! Breakfast, DON'T PAY FOR THE BREAKFAST! You order at the table, no menu, just the same poor man from behind the front desk doing breakfasts, wearing the same pair of disposable hygiene gloves for desk and kitchen work 😫 🤢 🤮! Coffee was ok, but the fruit juice machine was dispensing water that smelt like sick regardless of the flavour chosen. He proceeded to make each part if our cooked breakfast separately and bring it out in tiny bowls. 😬 Scrambled egg, followed by mushrooms, unheated from the fridge, then beans. This took around 10 mins, the scrambled egg was already cold so we asked him to not bother and took ourselves across the road to a lovely Starbucks! Anyway, I guess you get what you pay for 😆 🤣, but wouldn't come again.

I booked this hotel due to location as it was near to where I had business the next day. Terrible, grubby hotel. No sound proofing in bedrooms. I know the hotel doesn’t offer much in way of facilities which was fine but I was expecting have a decent night sleep. This was not achievable. Staff not able to help.

Checking in, checking out, perfect. My room, perfect. The reason I have only given satisfied is because I went to breakfast and there was NO hot food. Also, not as much of the continental as usual. Very disappointed.

I stayed here with my partner a few days back, we booked in the evening whereby the receptionist was rude, lazy and disinterested to say the least, she couldn’t even raise a smile. Due to poor internet connection I was unable to reserve the room before attendance, and I had to do so upon arrival to which she threw a leaflet across the counter with a QR code on to do it myself, the manner of which was the most disappointing part. Following booking in the most insincere ‘enjoy your stay’ was conveyed. The room itself was good for the price, just very disappointed with the poor customer greetings and lack of etiquette and respect.

Well to be Honest, there's nothing to shout about, Breakfast was put out early, but you didn't know how long it had been left out.. The rooms are basic with a very small bed, as in Wide...The place is Definitely not worth the 350.00 quid we paid, just for 2Nights, and only to sleep in.... It seems when you go to Cardiff they put the Price of Every thing up, it's ridiculous, we save up for ages to go watch the rugby, and every year the prices go up.... On the Other Hand it won't stop us going to watch, our National Team.......

We booked in to this hotel for one night, ended up staying 5 nights. Couldn't have had better staff, so polite and helpful. We were able to take our 2 dogs in the room with us. The rooms were clean and we were given extra pillows when asked. Breakfast was plentiful and put you on for the day. We would come here again.

Clean, friendly and welcoming hotel. Staff were amazing, polite and helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. Only downside was the stag/hen party staying at the same time and the rumpus they caused when returning early hours, shouting, banging on doors, running up and down the corridors (like children!) Security did sort them out after about 10 minutes but by then sleep was well and truly disturbed. Maybe Ibis should change they're policy about booking groups of youngsters!

Checked into the Cardiff Gate ibis and was greeted by the very helpful and happy Ashley & Tanya. Ashley was particularly helpful as I was on crutches and he offer to carry my drinks to the table, I don't know if he's management or not but if he isn't he needs to be. Companies need people that are this happy and willing to help. The room was simple but very comfortable and extra pillows were supplied when asked for. There's plenty of hand gel points and space for social distancing. I'd recommend Cardiff Gate as a great location with a service station opposite the front door.

Decent to spend night in. No AC but hotel does have limited number of fans you can borrow. Toilet paper is rough if you’re used to double/triple ply branded ones. Shower has all in one gel and nothing else. Sometimes there are people at the entrance of hotel which are a bit intimidating (you know the ones with broken/missing teeth, tattoos and Stella in their hand). Parking is safe and plenty. Beds and pillows are good. Lobby is nice but doesn’t feel family friendly.

Staff were very accomodating, excellent amenities in the surrounding area. We were able to book at short notice and still book a dog friendly room, room was very clean and tidy. It was an all round well worth the money hotel.

Stayed here for one night and was extremely comfortable. The room was spotlessly clean. All appliances fully working and simply couldn't fault the room. Bathroom spotlessly clean too. Towels provides and body, hair and face wash in a bottle and also hair conditioner provided. Two toilets rolls too. The wall heater could also be turned up and down to suit. During the evening we sat and had a few drinks and couple games of pool. £1 a game...bargain. Breakfast served from 6.30- midday. Buffet breakfast and plenty of choice. Cold meats, cheese, yogurts, fresh fruit, cereals, pastries, toast, and of course a full English (bacon, sausage, hash browns, beans and scrambled eggs). Coffee machine, fruits juices, milk to drink. Highly recommend and would stay again.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Clean and functional motel. Breakfast was a broad choice for most tastes. A comfy bed and quiet clean room. Parking is free in site. Tesla charger is a 5 minute drive away.

First hotel we've booked as a family of 5. Ibis have been fantastic, offering a discounted rate for the second room, which is better than any other 'high profile' chain hotel offered. In case anyone is wondering like we were, the beds are big enough for one adult and two kids (husband and the teenager had the other room!). Breakfast was well worth the money. Dinner, I would advise going elsewhere, not that it's bad but value for money you'd be better off elsewhere. The staff we've met so far have been lovely and friendly. Pool table and lounge style area which our kids loved. Nice and quiet even though it's just off the M4. Pet friendly. All in all, would definitely recommend.

my bag disappeared from my room with all its contents more important my medication. I went to the reception to have explanations, I was surprised because the receptionist did not believe me and she spent her time telling me that their employees are not able to steal. so if you lose your property in this hotel, don’t waste your time at the reception because the answer will be the same

I stayed at the ibis for a work trip recently, and it was as you would expect - clean and comfortable. The room was of a good size. Unfortunately it was let down by having no air conditioning, and I stayed during a particularly hot spell. The windows only opened slightly so let in very little fresh air, although fans were available for reception. The shower was also quite low on pressure, but not unbearably so. The breakfast was very good - unlimited standard breakfast buffet, of good quality, and although the milk in the coffee machine ran out each morning, it was filled up promptly by the waitress. Staff were friendly, and location was good for what we needed it for.

Technically this is only a 2 star hotel but I have to give it 5 stars for everything else! We stayed 4 nights with our 2 dogs and couldn't have been made more welcome.Rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. We had clean towels every day. Breakfast was great value at £5 each (booked in advance) with cereal, fruit, yogurt, toast, pastries, hot selection and a range of hot and cold drinks. The staff were AMAZING! So helpful, welcoming and accommodating.. Nothing was too much trouble. A special mention for Louise- a real credit to the business. I've worked in the industry and stayed in alot of hotels and this has been one of my best all round experiences. Thank you to all!!!

We were left stranded by the AA with our 8 month old, at 2am. Luckily Ibis was nearby and we would like to say a huge thank you to Cody. He did everything he could to make us feel better, and welcome, thank you so much! Ibis, Cody needs a promotion he's amazing.

Well..... Start with the positives, the staff are lovely, kind and if it wasn't for them id give the hotel the lowest review possible.... The hotel itself is dated and mattress is one of the most uncomfortable I've ever slept on, come on ibis sort the basics out, also walls are paper thin and you will hear ur neighbours snore. The Tv is old school and takes time to sort through the guide to see whats on. Would i sleep here again, NO! Would i recommend it? NO! Also on a service station so expect the noise that goes with that. Again the staff are lovely just give them better tools to work with and this could be a fantastic place to stay

First class hotel. Staff very good. Restaurant food not too good. Microwaved mostly. But breakfast was great. Lots of choice. Good location for breacons and South Wales.

Only one member of staff spoke to me, during my stay. Loud cleaning staff outside our room, talking loudly and banging doors and floors with their Hoover's, meal in the evening, made us I'll the next day.

The TV was easily accessible out the window but the bed was a bit more of a issue. Although the police were very accommodating with the the breakfast in the cell. Lovely place though..would recommend if your looking for a 32in tv .

Cheap and cheerful is the best way to describe this hotel, staff were friendly enough, room was adequate enough, slept adequately enough, and the location was adequate enough... all in all it's OK but nothing to write home about. Would I stay here again, maybe if the price was right, 😏

  • 5/5 Craig P. 1 year ago on Google
Tho I didn't stay here (Was on a course), my tutor did. They said the room was comfortable, but the food was about standard as it gets. I didn't like the way the manager spoke to the cleaning staff, as they way she spoke, and what was said, should have been said in private, or where guests can't hear.
