Came here boxing day with my son and his family. Easy parking with lovely grounds. Staff were very friendly and soon had us seated out the way in a booth as requested with having a breastfeeding baby. We were seated with an explanation of foods and toilet facilities etc and assigned a staff member. After browsing the menu, drinks and food were ordered. Drinks took about 10 minutes but it wasn't really busy so could of been quicker. Starters arrived after around 25 mins . Then 10 mins later the extras arrived to accompany the mains which took another 10 mins to come out . Steaks looked amazing with the fries etc on the plate , my chicken arrived and could only see the chicken to start, eventually i saw my dauphinoise potato and corn puree , brocoli wasn't worth the effort putting it on the plate. My son and wife loved there steaks but my chicken wasn't very nice at all. Most of it was in edible as it was like trying to chew a wooden lolly stick, Dry and rock hard. Briccoli was like chewing string .The tiny teaspoon of puree and the dauphinoise potato was the only thing that was nice . Thoughts went to pudding till i saw a sharing pudding was £13.95 and then saw the ASDA pudding box over the the shelf window . So a 8 portion ASDA cake been served 3 times the price then no thanks. Needless to say I wont be eatting there again . Pics below to show my point. X

A wonderful visit, greeted by friendly staff in a clean, luxurious and spacious restaurant. The food here was served in a very acceptable time even though the establishment was almost full to capacity. A wide selection of drinks are available at the bar while you wait for your table. The food is of exceptional quality, good portions and was still hot on arrival to the table. This is by far one of the best out-of-town restaurants in the area. It's advisable to book to minimise your wait for a table. Well done to all that work here, I'm already looking forward to my next visit. Highly recommended.

Favourite miller in Carter always pick this one for a celebration meal, food is amazing and the cocktails/mocktails are 10/10! Staff are always super friendly and chatty :)

Fantastic service from start to finish. Went for a birthday meal and the staff couldn't do enough for us. Very welcoming and friendly. The food was exceptionally good and our complimentary bottle of prosecco was a really nice touch. Thank you all for such a lovely experience, will definitely be returning.

Our waitress Tracy was fantastic, our large party had great service and a great time. The steak was perfect and the lobster tail was delicious. Great cocktails also 😄

Having not dined out for some time (pre COVID) for various reasons it was a great surprise to be able to lunch out with the wife, daughter and great grandson. We ordered different size meals. This is primarily a Streak house but has a few children's choices on the menu. I only went for a Steak burger, my wife,a Chicken burger, daughter a glazed chicken,son in law a Steak and a small chicken dinner for the great grandson. I must say that I have never had a burger like this before, with a chopped up steak at the bottom, pulled beef, cheese and tomato plus an onion mountain on top. Served with a side of fries and beef dripping sauce. Likewise my wife's burger was chicken breast with maple sauce bacon and garnish. Served with a sauce and fries. The Steaks were cooked exactly as asked. The service was outstanding, my wife is not very mobile and they went out of their way to find suitable seating for us all, including a high chair for our great grandson. We took a while to decide what we wanted but we were always met with a smile and reassuring waitress who seemed happy to wait. The food tasted as good as it looked. The prices were higher than I remembered, but my daughter who eats out regularly thought they were fine. Now for logistics, 2 sets of toilets with disabled facilities, excellent standards. Plenty of standard parking, with 4/5 disabled spaces near the entrance. Probably best to book at the normal busy periods(can book online, type in the name to get their website) we went for a late lunch so not so busy. Food served all day. If I feel like a treat I will definitely go there again. Happy eating.

We've been to Miller&Carter several times, unfortunately I didn't enjoy my meal on this occasion, I always order fillet, and it's usually beautiful, but this was very tough and chewy. It wasn't as hot as I was expecting when it arrived at the table, more just warm. We weren't offered any drinks for about 20 minutes after being seated. The restaurant wasn't that busy, so I was quite surprised about the wait. Most restaurants offer a glass of water as soon as you're seated, but we had to ask for water for the table. It took about 20 minutes for us to be able to pay our bill and leave.

I've never been before. Had vouchers for Xmas to use. Lovely place, lovely food. Just a shame the waitresses attitude was not very good they day we went, but we will go again

We visited Miller and Carter Thornhill tonight and had a great evening. I value good customer service so much but unfortunatley dont get to see it that often in restaurants as staff are too busy but our server Elle was outstanding, she was so polite and knowledgeable and took the time to make our visit great even though they were very busy. She is a real credit to the place. If I could give 10 stars I would.

Went here Sunday afternoon for dinner and was left extremally disappointed. Both steaks were cooked blue when asked for medium & medium rare. Sent the medium steak back but still returned to the table rare and an extra fries that were not asked for. Also the pepper grinder did not work. Will not be returning to this restaurant which is disappointing as we recently had an outstanding meal in your Chester restaurant.

Great experience at M&C Thornhill. Food was beautifully cooked & presented. Service was timely & a good standard. Cocktails were fab - good range of alcoholic & non alcoholic. Restaurant was clean & tidy, staff were very friendly.

The service made my evening. Sophie was very attentive and friendly server. She really went above and beyond to make sure we had a great dinning experience. It would be nice if there were more seating in the bar while we were waiting, but this wasn’t a big deal. All round we really enjoyed the experience. Have already recommended Thornhill to our friends.

Benchmark Steakhouse, excellent selection of steaks and sides. Fast service and friendly staff in a contemporary decor make this an ideal choice all round

We have had THE BEST STEAK in our lives. The side dishes complemented the steak, which was the star of the show. The service given by our waiter Aaron was first class and his attention to customer service was outstanding. We will definitely come back

Tonight we visited Thornhill and from the moment we arrived the service was fantastic. The waitress Elle was so fantastic, her friendliness and manners were second to none, constantly checking if everything was OK with our meal and if there was anything she could get us. Nothing was to much for her. Thank you Elle for making my birthday that extra bit more special. We will all be back to see you soon 😊 ❤️

Had food here again today. Food was on point fairplay. We ordered from the Sunday set menu where I had the sticky chicken for starters. Had 50 day aged rib eye with chunky chips for mains with blue cheese and stilton lettuce wedge, beef dripping sauce. My partner had the same. We had mac n cheese side too. Was topped with lobster tail. Only thing I can say that wasn't on point was the chips weren't hot. Love lobster Tail will definitely be having that again. The crem brulee was one of the best ive had. Service was great staff were friendly

Food was lovely, table service was even better. Luke couldn’t do enough for us as we celebrated our anniversary meal.

Reception was very friendly and engaging. Decor was lovely with seating arrangements laid out well. Waiter/Waitress service was warm and friendly. Ordering was straight forward. Cuisine was excellent upon arrival. Service was attentive throughout but not bothersome. I'm unable to think of any improvement that could be made upon my family's visit.

Our sixth visit, best food yet and reasonable service. Jan set menu made it really good value.

Our server Tracy was excellent. She gave us information and advice on the fixed price menu (even though it a new thing) we were a party of 9 and everything we ordered arrived without fault. she was super helpful, very friendly and attentive. She is a credit to your company

If I want a steak I come here. We had a sharing board and it was delicious. If I could give it 4 and a half stars I would. The only reason it's not got 5 stars is because the service, while very good, took a while. But I will say we ate around 4 so it's not the busiest time and maybe they didn't have the staff there.

The welcome and table service were great - neither to hurried nor too slow. The steaks were great and I don't usually choose steak so I was impressed. The 7oz was just right for me. The only thing which could improve the menu would be a few good vegetarian dishes.

We had an amazing evening for my husbands birthday. Food was incredible and Leanne the server went above and beyond for us. She deserves a raise 👏. We will definitely be returning.

First time here. Everything was really good about the evening. Booked for a Friday night and it was busy as expected, but we were seated and served quickly. Food arrived in an acceptable time and the presentation and steak itself was delicious. Not much else to add, loved it!

Always love a Miller & Carter, and as usual we have another lovely meal. First time coming to this branch and it was slower service than usual but who really cares, food was lovely as was the staff member serving us.

Fantastic food and fantastic service ... All in all great experiance and will be booking again soon ...

Lovely experience! for a first visit treated well, service wise fantastic, steak was cooked exactly as was asked for, critical point being the triple cooked chips had a very firm middle rather than a soft fluffy texture you would expect. Price was as you would expect for such an establishments reputation, was it worth the price? Absolutely!

Three of us Ladies Who Lunch paid a repeat visit to M&C last week and were, again, not disappointed. Such a pleasant, welcoming atmosphere, tables well-spaced apart and excellent food. We’d especially like to praise our server Hayley who was so friendly and the service she gave at our table was second to none. I hope this praise gets to her! We will return.

Had a late Sunday lunch here, our server Molly was friendly and attentive. We were given a lovely window table and we greatly enjoyed our meal.

Loved the atmosphere, food and the outstanding service from Hayden. He has the knack of making you feel like you're the most important people in the restaurant. Although it was Christmas Eve and fully booked, the quality of the food and table service was excellent. Will definitely be returning.

Lovely Sunday afternoon meal. Food was beautiful and hot, all steaks were cooked perfectly. Service was fast and attentive without being intrusive. Will be back and definitely highly recommend.

Absolutely by far the best Miller and Carter I’ve had to date. Hats off to the chef who was “Jack” according to the card. We also had a waitress named Kasia who, I would say it would be a crime to say she was a good waitress! The only way to describe her would be to say she is the best waitress/waiter EVER! Never been here before, one meat eater and one vegetarian. I have to say very disappointed in the vegetarian food. Partner enjoyed the steak but not the dishes and side portions. Was a little undercooked for his liking. THE PLANT-BASED BURGER Beyond Meat vegan burger patty, spicy mapo aubergine, Violife melting mature slice, special burger sauce. Ordered bao buns as a starter and it had mapo aubergine with no other ingredients, very bland and didn't enjoy the flavour or texture and for £7.50 wasn't worth it. To find it was then again chucked into the plant based burger, chips tasted like warmed up frozen oven fries (left them on plate) so wouldn't recommend vegetarian food as it feels overlooked and an after thought. Wouldn't go again.

I really enjoyed my romantic meal here great atmosphere really intimate. Amazing service,staff brought us plenty of refills and even boxed up our desserts as I was so full. The steak as you expect was excellent and really succulent. 10/10

A shame that the kitchens can't turn out what the server carefully records and orders. I have had very few meals that have not had to go back, because something was wrong, despite being ordered correctly. Staffing still seems to be an issue, with slow service well below the level you would expect in a restaurant at this price point. My pet hate though is still not resolved at Thornhill. Why do you serve food that is almost always lukewarm? Despite always asking for extra hot chips, they almost always need to be returned. You can do it, as the replacements are always fresh from the fryer and steaming hot. Finally the salt and pepper grinders. These should be checked to ensure they don't simply drop huge chunks of salt and pepper all over your food. If they are worn out throw them away, and if staff don't know how they work, and how to ensure they operate correctly after refilling then please train them!! You promise so much, could be wonderful, yet seem to constantly disappoint.

I am a retired lady and usually visit this restaurant once a month with a friend. The service is excellent and the staff are very friendly and polite. The surroundings/decor are lovely. I had sea bass for lunch, which was delicious. The only negative point I have is that meals are getting smaller. My bass was very small and there are never any real portions of vegetables on the plate, unless you pay extra for side dishes. I think perhaps that is the only area for improvement. I would still highly recommend the restaurant to friends and family.

I would not go to Miller and Carter by choice, I have had several previous poor experiences at their other restaurants. These days, I avoid chains such as Miller and Carter as they are rarely any good. But it was a relatives choice for a special occasion. My meal turned up luke warm, the steak would have been very nice if it weren't for the fact it and everything else on my plate was cold. If we were on our own I would have sent it back. They may as well not bothered with the pepper sauce, there was barely a dribble in the bottom of the pot. They weren't exactly generous with the grilled tomato either, a thin wedge, not even a quarter of a small tomato. The staff were friendly enough. The toilets were filthy, there was urine all over the toilet seat, when I took my 3 year old to the toilet. My wife said the ladies were no better, which under the current circumstances is really poor! Miller and Carter is not cheap and for the money we spent there, we could have had a far better meal and experience in a local pub. Needless to say we will not be going back, avoid!

First time having a meal at Thornhill. Disappointing meal for one of us who ordered a sirloin and received a very thing fatty ribeye with gristle. Before we eat I pointed out the steak was not a sirloin but a ribeye of poor quality to the server but she tried to explain it was a sirloin. I have cut many a sirloin and eaten a few as a trained butcher to know what one looks like but the server would not have any of it. My guest and I was very disappointed as we were looking forward to the birthday meal.

Lovely setting, lovely staff, the food was gorgeous and the portions were big, I had a dessert of apple pie and custard, the pie was the same size as a steak pie. Would highly recommend

My husband and I visited during lunchtime and the value for money was outstanding. The food was phenomenal and service was great. We had a young gentleman who had been serving us and he was very polite and really just a lovely guy.

Really enjoyed eating here recently for my son's birthday. Son and husband shared the butchers block, mountains of meat for them to share, including ribs and several cuts of steak. Whilst my daughter and I each enjoyed the rump steak. Good attentive but not intrusive service. Lovely evening enjoyed by all.
