Probably the best afternoon tea I've ever had. Great selection of sandwiches, cakes, and teas. The scones are absolutely delicious and freshly baked, the cream and jam were authentic and veery yummy. I love that they had the choice of fruit or plain scones (I don't like fruit scones ever). The gentleman was so kind and accommodating, we had a brownie to go because I was too full to eat anymore! It was a delicious brownie even when I had the second half the next day. They got back to me really fast when I enquired to make a booking. The seating and rooms were gorgeous, really comfortable, and a very pretty calming setting. Can't wait to come back when I'm in Cardiff next!

Lovely tearooms. Great selection of teas and coffees. Sandwiches were perfect, scones incredible - we had vegan scones as well and they were amazing! We hosted a baby shower here and they were so accommodating and lovely. I recommend this place for a quick bite, a leisurely afternoon tea, a party or a natter. Yes - YES - you must visit!

it's a beautiful little place at the entrance to the castle walls. It had an amazing tea and tea bites (for 20 pounds each). The cakes were very tasty, and the scones even better.

The last time I went here was 2019 and it was spectacular! So me and the girls decided to go for afternoon tea I suggested here. It wasn’t how it was in 2019 and it was a lot more expensive at £22 per head. I remembered before between 2 of you you could choose 3 sandwich fillings, you would have 6 triangles each along with some crisps on the side, unlimited tea and then the normal scone with jam and cream and your choice of a slice of cake. This time we were only able to choose 2 sandwich fillings, we had 4 little squares of sandwiches with hardly any filling inside (with what looked like some old leafy bits under them which we did not touch) and if you wanted another pot of tea, that again was extra. I was so looking forward to this as previously it had been beautiful but I was very disappointed. Next time will be trying somewhere else. *photo is from 2019 when the sandwiches were plentiful and a good size*

This was point of call for a bacon roll and a latte. Best I’d had for a long time, proper thick slices of bacon and a generous sauce sachet. Stunning location in a refurbished gatehouse with an outdoor seating area overlooking Bute Park and Cardiff Castle. Named after the head gardener employed by the Marquis of Bute during the latter part of the 19th century. A wonderful cafe to stop off at during a Cardiff city centre shopping trip.

This is one of my personal perfect moments. As a lover of tea and afternoon cream teas I love this blplace to the core. It is an amazing hidden gem in the middle of Cardiff. The tea is exquisite and the staff are amazing. I had a Welsh cream tea with a loose leaf tea.

What a stunning refurb! If you've been forget what you know of the interior. It has the same feel downstairs but flipped the service area so customers get the views of the park. The first floor has been hugely expanded with vaulted ceilings filled with gorgeous plants bringing you into the park while you indulge in everything from coffee and cake, to lunch to Champagne Afternoon Tea. Stunning!

This is our absolute favourite coffee stop! We have been coming here for years, always getting take away coffees, hot chocolates and ice creams on sunny days. The staff are always super friendly and helpful. We recently had the best oat milk hot chocolates, with cream and marshmallows. Lovely hot drinks, perfect for your walk around the park :)

Went for an afternoon tea. Indoor seating was fully booked so I needed to sit outside. I had a cappuccino and a piece of Victoria sponge. Nothing beats a good coffee in the park. Staff were friendly. My only complaint is that my cake was dry but other than that perfect place for a nice afternoon especially if you like good views!

The most phenomenal chocolate cake I've ever had in my life! So dense so rich and so yummy, without feeling too heavy. The staff at the tea room is wonderfully polite and the coffee is great! Definitely a must visit

Excellent afternoon tea and staff very attentive. There was so much to eat we had to take out choice of cake home to enjoy. The brown bread was amazing.

Coffee and cake was fine but do NOTorder the Berry Iced Tea unless you ask for no ice as the glass was full of ice with little tea. See the picture attached. And for 4 pounds 50 you would expect more than 3 sips. After complaining, the staff did nothing to rectify our complaint.

My wife and I had afternoon tea and it was fantastic. Great sandwiches - a mix of bread and fillings to choose from, a choice of scones and cakes. All served the tea room which is in a historic building in Bute Park, close to the castle and the river - the location is perfect. Couldn't fault the service - attentive and helpfull yet relaxed. Worth a visit if your in the city.

Cute little tea shop at the entrance of the park serving tea, cakes, sandwiches, and icecreams. We got afternoon tea here, they have gluten free cake options, unfortunately the orange cake was undercooked and quite wet making it difficult to eat. The tea was good and the service was quick and friendly. The building is cool as well, it's old and looks like a fort, they have seating on the patio and inside.

Lovely afternoon tea. You order your sandwiches when you arrive so you pick your own filling on what bread you like so all freshly made. Arrives with scones with jam and cream. Then you have a choice of cake from the cake counter. If your full you can have it as takeout. Lovely atmosphere and plenty of tables. Great service not rushed at all could stay there as long as we liked. Definitely will be going back.

Amazing value, delicous array of amazing food for the mother's Day afternoon tea, as well as a cocktail, amouse bouche and a piece of cake! Cannot recommend highly enough as well as the lovely service given in a quirky building in a beautiful location.

Great coffee, tea ,food and a lovely atmospheric cafe in an amazing location. Just the portions of cake are incredibly small for the price otherwise would be 5 stars. The club Sandwich is pricey but amazing and probably worth the price. Probably one is enough for two people.

Such a lovely corner pub restaurant right by the entrance of Bute Park, serving delicious sandwiches, scones, cakes and Welsh cream teas. They also serve coffee brewed from Uncommon Ground beans. Relaxing atmosphere and courteous staff really do make the experience thoroughly enjoyable. Highly recommend the club sandwich. Portion is big and I had to take half of it to go. We were there just before my friend’s Japanese language exam. We sat in a corner so that he could revise a bit. Will definitely come back again!

Had to cancel a booking last week at very short notice. They were lovely about it and re booked us in today. We had a large double pram and needed two high chairs. This was not a problem. We had a lovely selection of sandwiches and the scones were our of this world. Will definitely be going back and highly recommend to everyone. Even if you are in bute park for a walk you can get coffee and cake to take out.

First time at this tearoom and was very pleased with the overall experience. The scone was one of the best I've experienced anywhere in Cardiff. Unfortunately the Walnut cake was dry therefore had to mark down my experience. Staff made you feel very relaxed, being attentive but not in your space.

Lovely time at Pettigrew Tea Rooms. Risked a visit without booking on the Easter weekend and manages to get a table for two without any issue. The staff were really friendly and welcoming, and understanding when I poured my tea without the strainer and dropped the strainer pot in the cup! We had the Afternoon tea for two (£29.99) and really couldn't complain at all. We had the choice of 3 sandwiches,we chose Egg mayo, Lemon chicken and Welsh brie and chutney. Our tea also came with two scones, beautifully decorates Jam and Clotted cream pots, and a beautiful cuppa! Afterwards we chose the Lemon Drizzle cake and the Apricot Orange and something cake! They were both beautiful. We had a lovely time and couldn't complain a bit. I would say out of preference it would be nicer with atleast two more sandwiches slices! However the tea as it was, was lovely! Would highly recommend... but I imagine if there's more than 2 of you that you should book. It also looked wheelchair friendly but was a little squeeze to get through for the wheelchair user in there.

We had been here for a quick visit for having some hot tea and we were served some really good tea 😊 before catching a connecting bus from Cardiff. It’s a cosy place inside and seats available outside with the park view😊 Shall visit sometime next for more😊
