We have just returned from our 2 night break at the hunter lodges at Celtic Manor Resort and we can not recommend it more if we tried! Truly the most incredible place we have EVER stayed! The views are out of this world surrounded by the Usk Valley it is a picture perfect resort! Wonderful and attentive staff and fantastic food! The hunter lodges are out of this world and have everything you need for the most perfect stay! Each restaurant we went to had the most wonderful ambience. We had the most incredible visit and would recommend Celtic Manor Resort to anyone! Absolutely loved it! Thank you all!

First of all, the resort as a whole is amazing. My average score is based on a number of things. The break was booked for 14 of us through a golf travel operator. There was an issue with a couple of the group being deleted from the booking - not sure where the blame lies, but it resulted in a lot of back and forth at reception to get it resolved, which frustrated a large number of the group. To be fair, the reception team did try to help get it resolved as quickly as possible, but there seemed to be a lack of info passed from the early shift to the late shift, so it had to start again from scratch and I had to be present in order to show the booking info again. My biggest gripe is the extortionate amount of money you are charged at every opportunity for things that should be included as standard from a luxury resort, or at least priced fairly. £8.50 per night to park in the overground car park with no security seemed a bit steep. I think this should be complimentary, as the ones up by the golf courses are. Bottles of water were provided for the room in the morning, but the fact you are charged over £5 for a 750ml bottle when needed is not justifiable. We're not a "cheap" bunch, but the mentality does appear to be that of a nightclub whereby once you are in, you are obliged to pay whatever they want to charge you. It's a shame as the golf courses are exceptional, the views are amazing and the hotel is very nice. Still worth a visit and I would probably stay again, but would spend free time in the town 10 minutes up the road.

Upon arrival the Hotel was impressive. Checking in was straight forward, although I was surprised by the £50 deposit taken out of my account which I was told would be refunded within 7 to 10 days. The Rooms are clean and good size. The facilities in the hotel are good especially the swimming pool area which I'm pleased to see is cleaned every evening. The staff are friendly and helpful. However, there were times I was dumfounded by the lack of hospitality and professionalism of some staff especially around dinner service. This could have something to do with being understaffed maybe, but when you are charging high prices for drinks and food then expectations are considerably higher. The Golf courses are amazing with some spectacular views and you won't be disappointed with any of them. I am really impressed with the shuttle buses from the hotel to the different courses and the drivers were always helpful and had a great sense of humour. Would I recommend this hotel to others? I certainly would. I think with a few team building sessions/ refresher courses this hotel could be 5*

Stayed here for 2 nights on business… Where to start? I stay away a lot and have been at Celtic Manor for conferences a fair few times in the past. Have to stay the service and check in wasn’t great, no advice on breakfast, dinner reservations or anything. Seemed like an inconvenience to check in with the don’t care attitude. Tried to find where to eat but booked up, then was sent on to another restaurant in another building which was full too and reservation only after asking the reception for advice. Ended up leaving the resort and drove into Newport for dinner and then room service second night. Rooms are bland and need updating… don’t seem massively clean. Phone doesn’t even work. Breakfast queue was crazy as they are apparently short staffed. In the modern era with QR codes etc this could be much slicker at a self service breakfast buffet. Ended up not bothering with breakfast in the end after paying for it. My room was charged for something which had already been paid for too which also left a sour taste. Used the gym and pool which was ok. Played the 2010 course here and it’s this experience with the friendly staff which made it a 2 star review preventing a 1 and it’s a little harsh on them as the guy on arrival and Marshall were great ambassadors for the company. In the area again over the next few weeks but decided to stay elsewhere as the customer service was non existent. Stop taking customers for granted, I know others who were staying here for a break and they felt exactly the same and were upset.

Hotel is nice enough and the staff are friendly. Whatever you do, don’t eat at the Merlin bar. We stopped for a lunch time snack, and I’ve never seen such a contradiction, a Rolex clock on the wall, serving Aldi frozen pizza. ** I travel every week for work, and I can honestly say, the premier inn across the road would of been a better stay. The beds would’ve been comfortable, the room would’ve been clean, the breakfast would’ve been better, and the parking a hell of a lot cheaper - if you need a comfortable hotel in the area, go elsewhere** They advertise the mulberry bar everywhere throughout the resort yet it’s been closed for 6 months. If you’re thinking about a nice relaxing stay with good drinks and food, go elsewhere. If you’re staying in the Manor House, you park on the other side of the resort and will be charged a lovely £20 for the privilege. The resort is going down hill every year. Don’t waste your money here. Update: our room is not clean. See photos of kettle and dust on towel radiator. Update 2: we’ve been moved to a signature room. Which is also dirty. The bed in the £300/night signature room, is 2 spring coil mattresses pushed together with a thin quilted, non-memory foam topper put over them. See photo. Breakfast was lovely and the staff at breakfast were all pleasant and helpful.

I recently stayed at Celtic Manor Resort for a weekend getaway. Overall, I had a positive experience, but I was disappointed with the delayed refund of £109 that was mistakenly charged to my account. I was told by the front desk that the refund would be processed within 3 business days. However, after 3 days, I had not received the refund. I contacted the hotel by email and phone, but I did not receive a response. I eventually called the hotel again and was able to speak to someone in the accounts department. He told me that the refund would be processed and that I should check my bank account. However, the refund has not yet been processed. I am disappointed with the lack of responsiveness from the hotel's customer service team. I have worked in the hospitality industry for almost a decade, and I know that good customer service is about resolving issues quickly and efficiently. I am disappointed that Celtic Manor Resort has not been able to do so in this case. Despite the delayed refund, I would still recommend Celtic Manor Resort to others. The hotel is beautiful and the staff are generally very friendly and helpful. However, I would advise guests to be aware of the possibility of delayed refunds, and to be prepared to follow up with the hotel if they do not receive their refund in a timely manner.

Thoroughly disappointed by this place. Looks like a gargantuan cruise ship that has been docked in the middle of a town. Extremely difficult to find - satnav took us up into the hills - at night, signage is very poor, with no lighting. took over 1 hour to find entrance at bottom of hill. Once we located it, was marginally easier, but still had to navigate several roundabouts to get there. Service was abominable - not for lack of trying, but nothing ever got done! Front desk manager was a bit snippy; we called multiple times for washcloths and was told "i don't know what you mean" or else "we'll pop them right up to you". nothing was ever delivered. Used towels left in shower after room had been cleaned - why??? soaps/lotions not replaced unless we requested, even if half empty. spa/jacuzzi felt a bit "grimy" - not as spotless as one would hope. the whole idea of having to book swim/spa times was ludicrous. Nobody adhered to the 45 minute rule, anyway. same for booking for breakfast - after a few days, we just showed up and were given a table in the (mostly empty) dining room. Buffet was sub-par food. Lots of help just standing around managing to look busy while not doing anything. did not like the entire "vibe" of the place - certainly not up to 5 star standards. Rafters dinner was passable, but wouldn't say exceptional. Met a woman in spa who is a local - gives it a 2 star rating, if that. Said it's gone way downhill and is "dirty". We are used to exemplary service and the Celtic Manor did not even come close. This hotel was chosen by another member of our party who was extremely disappointed, as well. Sadly, we were booked for 5 nights, which didn't help. Could have tolerated 1-2 nights at best. Skip this one, if you can. Must be plenty of other places nearby, although i'm not familiar with the area. On the plus side, Rebekah at Steak on Six was extremely charming and helpful. Showed up every day with my vegetarian sausages and couldn't have been nicer. She made it worthwhile and she should be commended. Walking path was a pleasure!

I stayed here a few years ago and I absolutely loved it. However, stayed here again recently and I really think it needs a revamp. We arrived in our room there was no kettle, no water in fridge (the basics you get) couldn’t believe the price I payed to not even get basics in the room. rooms were very very dated! I would of rated the hotel a 3 star unfortunately and we stay in a lot of hotels. We also ordered room service and ordered a kids meal! The salt on the chips was absolutely ridiculous, they were so salty I had to take them off the plate as she’s only 3! I had a pizza which was very dry and looked like it had been microwaved. Unfortunately this hotel doesn’t live up to its star standards and will not be returning. Very over rated

There's nothing I can fault about our stay, we loved every second and will without a doubt be back again. The room was lovely, staff super friendly, food delicious, atmosphere wonderful. Before our evening meal we sat in the Merlins bar and listened to a wonderful pianist and then after our meal we came back and the other bar had a singer who was fab. We ate at The Grill restaurant and a free shuttle bus is provided to take you there and back. Our room was spotlessly clean and the bed was soooo comfy! We finished off our stay with a game of crazy golf which was great fun. Thank you for making our 1st wedding anniversary a special one.

Went for an evening spa visit (so no room rating). Spa was fantastic, lovely treatments, service and atmosphere. Very little time to enjoy the relaxation areas of the spa if you have an evening booked, but plenty of time to enjoy steam, sauna, pool and jacuzzi areas. Only downside was the parent who kept allowing her child to jump into the jacuzzi. The service within the Celtic Manor was great, everyone welcoming and gave directions readily or offered suggestions on where to go for a light meal after the spa. We chose the Merlin Bar for our post-spa visit, and that's where things went downhill, we were asked to seat ourselves, and someone would be over. No one came for quite some time. We decided this was due to being busy and tried to relax, but the two servers we encountered were different and off-putting, to say the least. The first server was bizarre, not sure if an attempt at rapport building/joking but honestly terrible, bordering on rude at times - we were actually wondering if this person wanted to be complained about, it was that bad. The second we politely asked to split our bill once it arrived, which to us just meant splitting it 50/50 and both using card. Instead, we got a short verbal rebuke, accompanied by stomping back to the till, a short distance behind us, some banging and refusal to engage in conversation at all on return with the machine. The food itself was a disappointment and not worth the price. Which is what gives this review 4 stars. We would return to the spa 100%, but we would avoid the Merlin Bar and book somewhere else within the resort, in the hope that the service and food would be better.

Nice room we had a deluxe balcony. Nice breakfast easy to book for it as well. My niece was given a cute dragon shaped pancake and card which was a lovely touch. Main issue was check in, I checked in online and was told I’ll get an email when the rooms ready and the digital key. However despite check in being at 4, I still hadn’t had an email at 5 to say it was ready. Ended up going to desk around half 5 and was told room was ready but no apology when I explained I had been waiting. I actually got the email at 7pm approx! Everything else was fine but I don’t think I’ll be using the app again x

I was overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of the staff in helping us, as my daughter is profoundly disabled. They went above and beyond. I have to be honest, when I asked could the Celtic Manor bring in equipment to assist my daughter, I was in shock, as most of the time I am faced with a "sorry, no we can't help you". So their positive approach was so refreshing. All of the staff were amazing. My daughters needs are so diverse and unique, and the staff couldn't do enough for us, to help the whole experience to be a calming and pleasant one. They were always on the look out to help us, and were always checking on me to see if I needed anything. Again, just added to making my stay less stressful, as I felt so supported. I will always be eternally grateful for their kindness, understanding and support in making the weekend so wonderful. With the support of the staff at the Celtic manor, particularly Faye we had an absolutely amazing and memorable weekend. For me the Celtic Manor is a shining beacon as a Hotel that supports and help anyone with special needs. I will definitely be going back next year.

Great resort hotel with wide variety of bars and restaurants. I think some of the staff need better knowledge of the hotel (but I guess par for the course these days). We stayed on Signature level 6 - you get a few perks - and this was great. Everything is booked via the Celtic Manor app and I'm not sure how some customers will like this; it's possible you will never speak to anyone during your stay! We'll be back; hopefully play golf next time!

At first glance this hotel seems to have it all but delve deeper and there are some noticeable cracks in the foundation of this seemingly luxurious hotel. I cannot fault the spa staff or treatments, however the facilities of the pool, jacuzzi, sauna etc. Are not what you would consider to be high quality, If you're looking for a relaxing quiet stay this is not ideal. I'm torn as to whether it's value for money or just marketed to seem that way, with extra charges for parking, to the overpriced food, it's not easy to check out without a hefty bill on top of your initial cost. Should the hotel make some improvements I would consider returning but for now I will stick to my smaller more boutique hotels, whom offer a better overall experience.

Positives- Good communication leading up to the booking via email. Express check in and out which helps avoid queues Friendly and helpful staff Regular times of the shuttle bus Good selection of breakfast Food in “The Rafters was beautiful” would recommend this restaurant, limited menu choice though. Very clean Good space for family deluxe room Good price on the Sunday deal for room, meal voucher of £60 and breakfast. Facial wonderful Negatives- air con wasn’t working so had to keep sliding door open but then we could hear the rain hitting the base of the drain pipe and because it is metal pipe it was very loud, kept me awake most of the night. Mix up with restaurant booking, Steak and Six is adult only but this wasn’t clear therefore had to swap to another restaurant Pool area busy so didn’t stay for long. Treatments are pricey, terms and conditions state have to be 16 for treatments but actually it’s 18 so I had to chaperone my 16yr old daughter which was fine. Only 2 robes in a family room- please consider a family could have older children who might like to use a robe for the pool, asked for more which wasn’t a problem but didn’t arrive in time for our pool session. Always wanted to stay hear, glad I’ve been but wouldn’t return.

There is a wow factor when you first arrive at the Celtic manor, with the valet service when you pull up, cases taken to the room etc. However this quickly fades away, simply put the vast majority of staff lacked the 5Star hotel service, they are severely understaffed, the staff have are not trained properly and this is evident. The food in every restaurant was very poor, one restaurant took almost 3 hours for our main course to be served for then it all to be sent back. What I will say is that the grounds are superb, and the lobby area, pool and golf are good, but as for the service this is not what I expected from a 5 star resort, it’s a real shame because the grounds and hotel could be one of the finest in England & wales. If they could sort out the training of staff, drastically improve third quality of food and service, this will be a 5 star.

Wonderful Hotel and amazing grounds. Could be one of the best hotels in the UK but honestly not worth the money you pay. The wow factor goes away very quickly and that’s possibly to do with the service that provided. Won’t go into detail but it’s easy to see the staff lack experience and standard to maintain at a high level. Spa facilities are lovely and world class golfing resort. If your here for a convention then also ideal. Evening entertainment was good and Breakfast is the only good food service there is.

Went to black tie event. Stayed in signature room and was lovely. All could ask for. The breakfast in the steak on six was nice, staff was amazing, friendly. The signature lounge was very nice! The black tie event was ok we had a great time with friends, the music was great. The food was very average! And not cheap at £70 a head for a soup and turkey! The service at the event in the bar and serving the food was absolutely shocking!!! I’ve never seen so many staff walking around not doing anything when there is loads to do! No training has been given most probably all agency or just started! Bar staff very slow which is not good when you got to serve so many people! I’m giving 2 stars for service just because of the breakfast staff!

  • 4/5 Malcolm K. 4 months ago on Google
Staff friendly and venue and facilities are good, breakfast very good and check in checkout quick and easy. Room is comfortable and linen towels clean and nice, however, our heating didn't work in our room, so we had to have an electric heater in our room for 2 days, not good enough in a hotel of this standard at all. Only 2 of 3 lifts working and the call system is outdated and inefficient leading to long wait and travel times, inconvenient. Maybe the infrastructure needs a review and some updates put in hand? One coffee station wasn't working so long queues for a hot drink but there is a second station at the end (no queue) but staff didn't redirect people, simple to improve??

We stayed one night at Celtic Manor, in one of the suites. There is valet parking, which was helpful given the weather. It was a lovely room with plenty of space. We had two balconies with a lovely view over the golf course. We were at an event; the food served at the event was excellent and there was good accounting for allergies, which was helpful. They use a card on the table at the place so the food served is clear of the substance. Once we retired we didn’t hear any noise from the event or others returning to rooms. Breakfast in the morning was a good selection, I especially liked the black pudding with barley. I didn’t see a vegetarian alternative out in the hot food but suspect it would have been available on request. There were also pastries, cereal, fruit, breads, spreads, cold meats and cheese.

We hired a glass pod, it was so pretty and festive. Food was amazing. Service was slow and I think understaffed. The staff we did see were very nice though. Could have done with a bell or some way of us communicating with staff. Would definitely go again though.

We’ve travelled passed the hotel many times over 20 years, and always said we’ll treat ourselves one day. We did finally last week, and we couldn’t have have hope for a warmer welcome. We checked in very late in the day and the lady on reception (whose name I forgot to take) was so lovely and surprised us with a room and breakfast dining upgrade. It was amazing. We spent two nights, as a base for a very for a sad occasion (that we didn’t mention at the time) making the upgrade was so much more appreciated. Gorgeous grounds, very welcoming and comfortable atmosphere, amazing dining opportunities…. We will definitely be returning.

Booked a deluxe family room with balcony. The room that was allocated did not have a balcony. The children's bed was a a metal frame pull out sofa bed. It provided no comfort at all and was certainly not a luxury. The adult bed was hard and lumpy and the mattress lay upon 2 single bases so you could feel the central ridge. We booked diner in the rafters and our booking confirmation stated 7:15 as requested, the restaurant had us booked for 18:15 and made us feel like we were the ones at fault. The food quality was poor and the menu range was limited and I question the credibility of an AA rosette that had been awarded in the past. The breakfast was sub standard and offered low quality options. You have to pay to park and walk a great distance, which in the wind and rain was an ordeal to get to and from the hotel. My wife booked a spa treatment but could not relax due to the spa being overcrowded and noisy. The swimming pool is over subscribed and there was no prior advice to book a slot. Check-in takes forever queuing, with the focus on squeezing more money out of you. There were long waits for the lifts. All In all the hotel was a disappointment and totally over rated.

I had a delightful experience at this lovely place – picturesque and ideally located for my travels. One standout feature is the Tesla Supercharging onsite, a significant plus for electric vehicle owners like myself. The convenience of having many other EV chargers available adds to the overall appeal. The combination of a charming setting, strategic location, and commitment to supporting electric vehicles makes this place a top choice for travelers who prioritize sustainability and convenience. Highly recommended!

Great place for a weekend of golf; courses were great, particularly the 2010. Shuttle bus service was an excellent, simple service that runs 24hrs. Negative points for: there being no drinking fountains and needing to buy bottled water everywhere; £20 a night parking at the hotel felt wrong too.

We had been previously on a business trip, and decided to visit with kids this time. The hotel remains really nice, clean and impressive, but their approach to service was disappointing. The activities available for the kids were good, but there was little interaction from the guys managing it. In particular the low ropes, where a very brief introduction to using the harness meant that the kids were left to fend for themselves. Not helpful if kids got stuck or were afraid of heights. I feel that they could be more interactive and engaging with the kids to make their experience a better one. Also up at the ‘golf hut’, where you had the attendants sitting there while people booked on activities waited at the venue, only to have to go and seek out the attendants to come and lead the activity. The main gripe we had though was the hidden charges at every turn. Room rates between £150 and £200 per night, such things as family mini golf costing £38 and they have the audacity to charge £20 per night for parking. Disappointed too to find that there was no complimentary waters in the room, meaning you had to go to the bars or shops and pay over the odds. Things like this sour what should be an amazing experience. Lastly, the booking experience is ridiculous. Most things can only be arranged by phone, and in planning this trip and activities, I must have spent north of four hours on hold on the phone trying to confirm bookings and activities. Not acceptable in 2022.

Decided to have a mini honeymoon here to celebrate the occasion. The venue itself is great. Beyond the main building are several other expansive buildings, each creating their own experience. For golf fans there are 3 different 18 hole courses and a 18 hole mini golf course. Other activities include, tennis court, clay pigeon shooting, archery and a tree top adventure course. On site are gymnasium, pools, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna. The main hotel itself has great views over Gwent and towards the Severn Bridge and England. The rooms are well designed with plenty of features for even well travelled people to enjoy. There are a large selection of places to eat and/or have a drink. Staff were a pleasure to talk to and we found each one knowledgeable and competent in their roles. Will definitely look to repeat the experience in the future as there was plenty left undone. The company has adopted a technological approach for booking of room service and on site restaurants. Similarly it is possible to make direct requests and calls for those uncomfortable using apps.

This Hotel is very beautiful in its own grounds surrounded by the golf course. The entrance is very grand and impressive. Rooms are a good size with nice views all round. It has two spa areas one in the main hotel and one in the golf club a short shuttle bus away. All parking is at an extra cost which I hate but other than that great experience.

Stayed overnight for a wedding . Room a bit tired looking but clean and the bed was comfy. I would have liked a balcony but not all the rooms have one (I didn't know this when I booked). The Concierge (John) was the most helpful guy you could ever wish to meet. Breakfast was lovely. Take your time , relaxing. Just what was needed for the morning after.

Stayed for 1 night with wife and son while he and I went off to the wrestling. But for just over £300 a night it isn't perfect. Room was lovely and large, plush and nice views. However bed was so soft and springy it felt like a water bed and the walls were paper thin.... We could hear every word of our neighbours conversations. Shower was also a little tatty with stains on the ceiling and areas of mould. 2 of the 3 lifts were broken during the stay and we gave up trying to find the stairs to come down for breakfast as the only door we could find looked like it was an alarmed fire door. The cheekiest part we thought was that if you want to park in the red or yellow car parks under the hotel then you have to pay an hourly rate up to £20 if you're staying over night. For the price of the room this stung a bit. The staff were lovely and friendly, especially at breakfast. As a golfer who hasn't played here yet, I'd like to come back and play/stay but the value would need to be much improved as for the price we paid it didn't live up to expectations.

The reception staff were friendly, good sized room but it wasn’t the standard double so should have been for the cost they charge. The balcony had not been cleaned and rubbish from previous visitors still outside. The doors to get out seriously need changing, dirty and very difficult to use. We were not told about the main spa being closed when reservation made which was disappointing however we used Dylan’s. The staff on the Friday were not particularly helpful or welcoming and the jacuzzi was also not working. The restaurant manager was very rude when we asked to look at the menu and we were very quickly told they were full. Was very surprised to have a self service breakfast for the price and again the staff were not very welcoming or helpful. Having stayed at the Coldra previously I thought this would be better not sure it is - shame.

There are so many good things here but really undercut by the negatives. Biggest negative was the fire alarm going off twice in the middle of the night. I know these things happen but the communication both during and after the alarm felt terrible. - We were surprised to find we had to pay for parking on top of our (not cheap) room rate, and it means you are rather trapped as if you take your car out and back again you have to pay the parking rate again. - The rooms were comfortable but there were no plug sockets anywhere near the bed, so the lamps there were completely useless - just a trailing cable to nothing. - swimming pool was lovely and warm and the kids loved it, but all 3 toilets in the changing room were out of order for our whole stay, so when my daughter needed the toilet we had to end our swim early, and you only get 2 time limited slots with your stay so that was it. - all the staff we met were lovely, but the phones are awful, impossible to get through to someone and if you do manage it they immediately transfer you on to a number that either rings forever or goes back to the beginning of the menu. - the buffet dinner is hugely expensive for what it is. The puddings were impressive but the rest of the food was very mediocre. I wouldn't mind if it was half the price. The decor and ambience was lovely but I don't think we would stay again, we were hoping for a treat but it didn't pan out as we had hoped at all.

The resort was amazing and so magical around Christmas time. We loved every minute of our stay. Room was spacious and clean. Service was great. Food at the Grill was lovely as well as the breakfast in the Signature floor the next morning. The only thing I was surprised with was the £20 parking fee which wasn't stated anywhere when I booked. I felt the £20 was a bit steep.

I’d anticipate the expense of staying at this “High End” resort location and was none the less happy to book for a quiet weekend away to celebrate my wife’s birthday. Using the website or app to do this was painful as was often left going around in circles, something that was later explained as a problem they were aware of currently. I’m not sure on how easy it is to book as so many choices with little explanation so I think if you e been before it might be ok. For a newbie to the resort not so much. For this trip, I booked over the phone which took around 40 minutes most of the time was waiting on hold (automated answering system) to speak with someone. We were disappointed with the “Deluxe” room as it was just like a Premier Inn” to be honest albeit the room was a little bigger. A “view” of the golf course was a stretch as we were overlooking the main entrance to the hotel, we could see what we think was a green to our right but that was it (not golfers so this didn’t really bother us too much). At the point of booking I was told there was an allowance per person towards food and that as there was an offer on currently, we would only need to pay for drinks. At checkout though, I was expected to pay for the second evenings meals for both of us. I questioned this and was told that the offer expired on the first night. Following a short discussion however, it was eventually agreed to remove the charge as I had been misinformed at the point of booking. Plenty of choice and the food wasn’t bad but nothing special. Next surprise….. £40 for car parking in addition to the cost of the room, I’ve never had to pay as a guest for car parking at any hotel I’ve stayed at so as I said, a big surprise, talk about a captive audience. On leaving our room to go to breakfast we had to negotiate a plethora of cleaning utensils and trolleys, a good morning from us to staff fell on deaf ears so 🤷🏻‍♂️ Overall a 2 of 5 star experience and one I won’t rush to do again I’m afraid.

Before we even checked in, the service was questionable, we popped to Merlin's bar for a drink, after approaching the bar we were sent to a table as we were unable to order at the bar, we ordered with a server and got our drinks. Half way through our drinks we were approached by a panicked server who asked our room number, we said we hadn't checked in and were immediately met with a card machine! I don't mind paying for my drinks in advance, but a bit of conversation would be nice! As other reviews have said, the hotel and rooms are dated with peeling wall paper in corridors and in rooms and scuff marks everywhere, wouldn't recommend looking down at the skirting boards as these were dirty throughout the hotel. The room was okay, quite big. But it wasn't clean. Noticed a large white stain on the runner and toothpaste on one of the towels, reported this to reception who asked if we would like it changed!? Of course, but there wasn't an apology or acknowledgement that it was bad. We visited the spa which was pretty good, but considering we had to book a 45 min slot, I did not expect it to be so busy. Hot tub was full constantly and pool was very busy but we were able to get a few lengths in. We had dinner at steak on six which was fantastic! I cannot fault the food and the servers were amazing, the toilet situation is a little interesting in comparison to the restaurant but it does the job! Breakfast was sub par and didn't match up to a premiere Inn breakfast we had recently. There was a good variety, but the sausages and eggs were overcooked, the area was chaotic with people queuing between tables. It was an okay breakfast, but not even close to worth the money. The gluten free section on a separate table looked impressive.

We stayed here regularly before the pandemic and now we are going again. The CM Resort Hotel has the best rooms of any hotel we have stayed at, including The Ritz, (although I am sure The Ritz has excellent suites costing several arms and legs). The service is also good and there is an excellent choice of restaurants. One point on the downside. The parking is expensive and I believe there should be free disabled parking. Overall though an excellent hotel

Great wedding in the marquis, food was excellent, as was the service. My only complaint was that the evening buffet, was taken away around 10ish, it could have stayed out longer as there was lots left. The room was spotless, the bed was really comfortable, only little gripe, was that the toilet roll was like sandpaper!! Not the quality you'd expect. The breakfast was brilliant, definitely something for everyone. All in all it was a fabulous day and a great stay

Had a great time at the Celtic Manor Resort. First time for myself and my wife staying over night. Bit of a shock when we arrived as we were hit with £20 bill to park under hotel but probably my own fault as I didn’t check parking situation before leaving and could have parked outside in another car park but it was raining and would rather pay than get soaking. Staff were amazing. Couldn’t do enough for us. Especially a young fella called Lewis who was our waiter at the Steak on Six restaurant. Food was great. Cocktails were delicious. The best part was our room. We were upgraded on arrival (no idea why but who cares when you’re getting an upgrade). The room was huge. Normal room that I’d expect in a hotel but then and extra door which lead to dining and lounge area with and extra balcony. Only wish we were staying for longer to get more use out of the room. Spa facilities were great. Regret not having a massage though but will definitely have one next time.

Incredibly family friendly especially the staff at The Grill in the golf club. At Easter they setup a giant chocolate bunny with baskets of mini-eggs for the children and more. The pool complex is brilliant for toddlers up to teens and the free shuttle buses around the resort are all driven by real gentleman. Saw a wedding marquee setup which looked pretty classy with a vintage resort car for the bride. Buffet breakfast was top notch. Would love to see this place decked out for Xmas...

We enjoyed our stay at the Celtic manor resort. I was going to a conference at the ICC and my family came to enjoy a holiday. The room was comfortable although the decor a little dated. It was very quiet which is mandatory for me. We used the pool and gym. There were limited kids activities on site as it was not school holidays. I would stay here again.

Stayed this weekend. Parking is easy enough, £20 charges for overnight. Easy to book, check in was straight forward. Staff were polite and professional. Booked a slot to use the spa, easy enough to do. It’s very clean, looks beautiful and well presented. Unfortunately there was no steam room available for the ladies. There was a very unpleasant smell hanging around the changing rooms. We had 2 swimming sessions, 5pm which was very busy and 7:30am the next day, which was extremely relaxing, very quiet and calm, however the smell was more potent in the morning. The reason for the two star for the room and service, unfortunately the heating wasn’t working. I needed to call for help 3 times, second time we had maintenance out who supplied a heater, and informed us of an issue with the compressor, they said it would get resolved quickly. I then had to call again around and hour later, due to the cold draft in the room, was informed someone would come straight away. No one even attempted to come. We had breakfast booked for 10:15, arrived a little earlier, greeted well, sat in a busy restaurant. The selection is good, however the full English was very rationed and the queues were big, lots of people waiting around for it to be restocked. Pastries weren’t restocked due to times. Juices were empty, water was empty. Nice enough when restocked, but not very warm. Hot chocolate was lovely. Perhaps a Saturday morning is just a very busy day for CM. Staff always pleasant and polite, lots of smiles and friendly feels. Grounds are absolutely stunning with lovely views. Unsure if we would return, could only hope if we did it would be better.

A very mixed bag of a visit to Celtic Manor. Both restaurants we ate in were excellent. The food was superb and service was good. The disappointments came in the fact this is a resort hotel with 3 golf courses. It does not have a golf channel in the room which I find quite bizzare and also does not sell a stick of female golf clothing in the club house. Why? What’s that about. Shame on you

The staff were super friendly and helpful and always very polite. The resort itself was lovely, only a few minor issues: - Parking, for 4 nights it really adds up. The resort boasts about their ample parking capacity, yet it costs £8.50 a night just to park there. I’d expect this to be included in the stay. - Food at the resort is average at best, yet costs twice as much as eating out anywhere nice. Way too expensive for the quality. - The steam room wasn’t accessible in the Forum Spa. Felt really let down by this given I went for a spa trip. - Fire alarm going off at 3:30am wasn’t a great experience. That set off my anxiety issues immensely and meant I could no longer sleep the rest of the night. - PAD toilets were absolutely vile. Hundreds of flies. Deserves a full investigation into the nature of this. - We were told we’d get a bottle of wine per night in the signature rooms when they asked us if we wanted to upgrade. It turns out this wasn’t true. - On the Friday there were no activities that could be booked.

We stayed at the Celtic Manor resort as opposed to a big holiday out of the UK for health reasons. We had two beautiful rooms on the 8th, with one being half of the ambassador suite (we didn’t get the lounge)! With dual aspect over the golf course and the rural countryside it was just what was needed to enjoy some family time. There are plenty of activities available for all ages, as well as pleasant walks or just calming views to enjoy when you sit and relax. I can’t say the stay was cheap, nor were all of the fixtures perfect, but the positives outweighed the trivialities. The beds were lush, plenty of full pillows and extras when requested, plentiful in room refreshments, deep cotton towels and generous room sizes. It has to have been the quietest night I have ever stayed in a hotel. I wasn’t disturbed by another guest throughout the stay. I would like to mention the lovely Claire from housekeeping and Alison at breakfast in the Olive Tree Restaurant. Both are true treasures, maintaining a chirpy engaging banter whilst knocking their socks off in keeping the standards in their individual work areas. Many thanks for your personal attention. We hope to be when back soon when full fitness allows so we can fully enjoy the range of experiences the hotel and the area offer.

Perched on a hill the resort offers a panoramic view of the greenery in the surrounds. Hotel rooms are spacious and pleasant enough and staff are generally welcoming. The 1* rating refers to the Forum Spa: many of the lockers and showers are broken, as are the jacuzzis. Management clearly has not done an audit for years. There wasn’t even a note to say which ones were broken. If they did they would know which ones and how many are indeed broken. This is unacceptable for the 5* prices they are charging. This is our first night and two more to go. We will test out their restaurants The Grill and Pad. It remains to be seen if things improve during our stay. Watch this space!
