Lovely rooms, comfortable bed. USB chargers either side of the bed. Large rooms and great shower. Bar downstairs is well stocked, slightly slow service but mostly fine. The biggest issue we had was there were 2 private rooms on our level and they must smoke like chimneys because the hallways had a strong smell of cigarettes when we walked through. Then at night a different distinct strong smoke smell, which I am not a fan of. Breakfast was a buffet and was good.

A nice hotel with plenty of parking. The room was large and spacious. The breakfast was very nice and there was plenty of choice. We caught the bus into town. The bus stop was only 5 minutes from the hotel and they were very frequent. I would recommend getting an all day ticket so you can use buses all day.

Really happy with the staff, room and facilities! It was my partners birthday, I emailed in advance asking if they could put some banners up in the room for our arrival. We were blown away! George the head house keeper had made a brilliant alligator out of towels on the bed with balloons and petals! They also made a little elephant out of towels in the bathroom! Not only that, they had written him a card out and left us a bottle of red wine and 2 glasses! This hotel and the staff are fantastic, would recommend it to anyone!

This place is nicely situated being not too close to the city centre. It is clean, cosy, nice and quiet. I had a comfortable stay at this hotel. Free parking is really handy as most hotels in the city centre do not have parking so you need to park somewhere which would cost you around 11/day or more. Breakfast was nice at a fair price £12.50 if you did not include it in your booking. Staffs were very nice. During my last day, the guy at the reception was really accommodating. I was given a generous late check out. I definitely recommend this hotel if you are visiting Cardiff. Thank you.

No notification upon booking to check the car in to avoid fine. Room not cleaned, no new towels, bathroom not cleaned. Gave Covid as a reason. I assume it’s cleaned for the next guest so had we checked out and checked back in then we would get new towels and a clean room!!! At £225 for 2 nights I would expect better. We will go back to the holiday inn next time. We thought we would give this a go as regular visitor to Cardiff.

Great hotel, with lovely staff. We needed an accessible room, and were really pleased with the one we got. Some hotels advertise rooms as accessible when they are really not! This one was great - good wheelchair turning circle, rails in the bathroom, room for wheelchair under sink. Perfect!

Lovely hotel. Had the most comfortable bed ever! Had a very good nights sleep, no noise or disturbances. Room was very clean and modern. The bathroom was beautiful, shower brand new and clean with toiletries but there was some crumbs in the sink when we came in. A hairdryer would’ve been very useful as my hair took ages to dry after shower. Service I’ve put as 3 stars as you cannot get any room service without a £5 tray charge, I had to go down myself just for 2 cans of coke at 3am I think this is too much but apart from that the hotel itself was lovely and clean had coffee milk provided, night staff were helpful.

The hotel has clearly been newly refurbished. My room was great, simple, and clean on check in. Room temperature was great too, and glad that I could open the windows if needed. The exterior and location of the hotel were the only downside. But all in all very happy with my stay and will be lodging again, especially for the friendly price

Good rooms Sadly Air conditioner was not working informed the staff they said they can’t help it no maintenance. Out side temperature was 30deg. I asked if they can changes my room they said it’s full. They offered a fan at the end. It’s summer they should check it prior giving rooms. Very poor service in that aspect. Disappointed

Excellent location for city centre. Long journey with a late arrival on the evening but we were met with excellent service. The room was clean and tidy. Even though the road passed the hotel, it was very quiet. Special mention for two members of staff who were extremely helpful in getting me access to the gym and for breakfast - Talha and Savita, who clearly displayed a commitment to customer service over and above that you normally get in hotels. Friendly and welcoming and very helpful. Worthy of a visit, and strongly recommended.

Fantastic service, team was lovely and so welcoming. Bar and food service was outstanding thank you to Panchi, Moses, Saidur, Greshani for your efficient and friendly service. They really made my stay exceptional. Rooms spacious, tidy and clean with a really comfy bed. Lovely place to stay close to Cardiff city centre.

Good car park, nicer reception than the exterior suggests! Room was suffering a bit, you can't paint tiles, looks poor. Buffet breakfast was just ok. I'd stay here again as pleasant enough, good location for our friends in Cardiff and good car park, but it's not a star above any prem.

Hotel is too far out of town. No drawers in bedrooms, bit strange, not even shelves so I guess expected to not unpack . Lovely bathroom. Heating/air con not controlled in room now, we were told controlled centrally by Hotel, not good.

I stayed at the hotel with my family for leisure and had two rooms booked. The parking was great as quite big and also free of charge. The rooms were quite nice , I liked the bed which was comfortable and the spacious shower. Unfortunately the check in was a Joke! The blonde women from reception didn’t welcomed us or even trying to be friendly or give us any information whatsoever about the hotel and amenities ( nothing about breakfast time ,restaurant opening time or check out) , when we arrived there we had problems with out booking saying that we needed to pay when was already settled,so we had to wait .After has been sorted, the lady handed us the keys for the room and that was it. She didn’t even told us on what floor we were or the room number ,not even directions for the lift. In Our booking the breakfast it was included and also we were supposed to have complimentary water in the rooms ( as told In confirmation),but we didnt had any of that. When i went at reception to ask about it and also proving it with the confirmation, her answer was “I think is supposed to say that you can use the tap water” … Next day we missed our breakfast as one of the guys from the bar told us the wrong information about opening time , also the maintenance were doing works on the corridor at 7am in the morning which kept us awake with the drilling and banging really loud . I needed to go on my mom’s room to call the reception to tell them about this as the phone in my room wasn’t working (she assured it will let them know to stop ), but when I went to the reception to tell her about that the guys from maintenance didnt stopped from drilling and banging until 9am ,so the answer from receptionist was “ I did let them know to stop “, but when I said to her that they didn’t stopped anything, her answer was “ you know unfortunately with the works going on they need to work” and I said yes but still they can’t start doing works at that early time then nothing else has been said from her …I just felt reception were really careless, I didnt even got an apology or something. For next dat We skipped the clean as we’re having a tag on our room for that to choose that and on the tag which we put by the door said if you’re a member and you skip the clean you get rewarded with 100 points which it wasn’t received . I went at reception to do the check out and the blonde women which she checked me in it was there again and I told her about that and she was looking at me saying who told you that you get points …not knowledgeable about that or anything else so I explained to her what it was saying on the tag that, if you’re an Accor member you get the points for skipping the clean , so she was saying that she needs to ask the manager about this because she didn’t know about it , so I said okay and we left, but we even heard saying bye back or have a good day, nothing at all ….honestly the customer service was very disappointing.

The bedroom and bathroom were really lovely and much bigger than expected. We are used to premier inns but mercure Cardiff north was way way more luxurious. It was really lovely and felt like a treat staying here. The beds are super comfy and we slept beautifully.

Great hotel located on outskirts of Cardiff. There is big car park by hotel so I was happy I could see my car from my bedroom window. This place seems very clean and definitely friendly. I had dinner in the restaurant downstairs and it was well cooked and tasty. Would definitely recommend this place

Second time here, lovely staff, rooms are lovely and clean, feels like a bit of luxury when here. Breakfast is plentiful everything you would feel like is there. Look forward to my next visit.

Went here for the Speeding Awareness Course, so I didn't stay in a room. The staff were nice and parking was plentiful. It is opposite a school if you mind that sort of thing. Not too far from the City Centre too boot.

Always a warm welcome and professional service. The rooms are spacious and immaculately clean and the location suits me well. Breakfast is well presented with a great choice between traditional English to continental.

One of the best experiences. Overall staff were excellent and made our stay very welcoming, especially with our 4 y at old. The breakfast staff Savita was super helpful and went out of her way to serve us. The bartender also was pleasant . Will stay again

Best thing about our stay at the Mercure CARDIFF North was the breakfast, loads of choice of both hot and cold buffet, all fresh and replenished attentively. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room itself was ok- decent size, spotlessly clean and the shower was good. Generally the location was quiet, just a bit of a hum from the nearby A road, and well placed for the motorway and to get a cab into the city centre. There were things that could be improved - the room lighting (no central ceiling lights, just wall lamps, and the corner by the mirror required use of a torch as the lamp there didn’t work), and more storage for clothes (no drawers and the v limited hanging space was weirdly over the tea making facilities). The bed itself was far too soft for us, and the quilt far too warm, which made for poor sleep, but others may prefer it like that.

I had a fantastic stay at this hotel! The ambiance was welcoming, and the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. The rooms were modern, clean, and comfortable, providing a perfect retreat. The amenities exceeded my expectations, and the overall experience was top-notch. I highly recommend this hotel for a delightful and enjoyable stay.

The hotel was very clean and comfortable. The dining experience was fabulous. Friendly staff and very nice food at dinner. Breakfast was also very nice, a buffet breakfast. My room was comfortable, with nice beds. However some of the other guests were very noisy , with constant slamming of doors in the evening . Soft closing doors would really help. Also the international boys football squads staying there were very noisy at times, from my room i could hear them singing and chanting in their rooms. I would have given a 5 if it wasn't for the noise.

Nice hotel rooms seem to have been spruced up since last visit. Car park large but a bit rough round the edges. Staff always nice. Never used bar or restaurant this visit. Desk unit in the room a bit small but there are a couple of tables. Oh love the free shower gel works and smell nice! Also USB points on wall sockets. Only concern is the portable radiator in the room..........why?

Not a bad hotel, but there are definitely better options in the area. If you need access to the motorways, then it's a good choice, but it's not that close to Cardiff centre. Rooms are a good size and modern, but walls are very thin. I also had an adjoining door and I could here every movement from the person next door. Restaurant options were OK. Very basic and nothing outstanding. Staff were very friendly though. Hotel has plenty of parking (remember to register your vehicle though when you check in to avoid parking penalties).

Easy to find and plenty of parking close to the hotel. Reception could have offered more information but other staff really friendly, polite and helpful. Food good, room service was difficult to order (as not explained by reception on check in) but delivered well. Room chilly (in October) and heating controlled centrally (ie thermostat in room can't be switched on or altered). Portable heater in room (couldn't test its effectiveness as I had a 2 year old with me). Lighting in room subdued. Bed comfy and hotel quiet. I would like to stay again if the rooms were heated and the room service a bit easier to order.

I requested an accessible room but it was one of the least accessible hotel rooms I’ve stayed in. Hotel room was on the third floor and I had to use a very small lift which was difficult to get Wheelchair in and out of. Doorway into Hotel room was Very narrow and I was unable to get my wheelchair through the bathroom door. And I have a standard width Wheelchair. Promised an accessible wetroom roll in Shower when I made the booking but the shower had a 30 cm step into it so I was not able to shower for three days. I will not be staying here again. Cooked breakfast was mediocre with no vegan options available. Very small step at the main entrance into the hotel which was possible in my electric wheelchair but not very straightforward. The hotel room itself was quite spacious which was a plus. On-site parking was convenient. The room key Kept malfunctioning so had to return to reception each time to have the card reprogrammed.

Stayed 5 nights last week, rooms were comfortable and mattresses were good no complaints at all. Even in general, breakfast you had options, tasted good. Hotel staff very accommodating, Alex, Liz, James and Kerry were great. Had a few laughs with them all. All assets to the hotel. Would advise anyone to use this hotel if needed. Good prices and better than a few other places in Cardiff to stay.

  • 4/5 Kirsty B. 2 years ago on Google
Stayed for two nights price was really reasonable. Liked that it wasn't right in centre so avoid all the traffic and noise but was close enough to drive or taxi in. was about 10quid into town which compared to parking In the centre was a bargain. Lots of shops close to the hotel room was really clean and beds were super comfy! Staff on front desk were really welcoming and friendly.

Very clean and presentable hotel. Good coffee and friendly and attentive staff. Decent function rooms, facilities and rooms. Close to transport links and commutable to city centre. Decent all round.

Great place. Comfortable clean room and good customer service. The only thing I would do is re angle the exterior flood lights which light the building up, so they don't face the room windows as the inside of the room is lit up like daylight!! Lol but seriously don't let that deter you as its a great place to stay.

Stayed there for 2 nights over the weekend, The room we had was lovely, nice modern décor and quite spacious., recently refurbished. Food was decent and the staff were very polite and efficient, no negatives. Highly recommended. Never stayed in a Mercure before will definitely use again.

Lovely spacious room, clean and a very comfortable bed. Great shower and being able to open the windows to outside was nice. Breakfast was very good, a good selection and the staff Lovely. A good selection behind the bar also. Will definitely stay again.

Nice pleasant hotel, room spacious and comfy. Stayed for 2 nights as part of a coach trip from north Wales. Hotel seems to be in the middle of nowhere. No shops, takeaways or pub's anywhere around. Which is a problem when you arrive on a coach. The first night was alright with dinner, although there was no information on what we were getting to eat. Breakfast next morning was excellent. But dinner that night was a total disaster. Everyone arrived for their dinner and it wasn't even put out. And when it did arrive it was undercooked. What a disappointment. Needless to say i went to bed that night hungry because i couldn't eat any of it. Also the bar in the place was so expensive. I mean £8 for a glass of wine and £5.50 for a pint of Guinness or cider. A bit of a disappointment...

Stayed for two nights. Checked in very late. Process was easy. Rooms are basic. Rooms are kept clean. They don't replace used hand towel! A/c is unusual and controlled centrally. It is not possible to adjust the temperature in the room. If you feel cold, you need to ring the reception to adjust the temperature. And we didn't have the phone. Manager assured that they will send one which never arrived. Breakfast is usual hotel chain English fair, nothing to shout about.

Compassionate staff, did everything possible to make our stay comfortable from providing extra sheet for the dog to sleep, extra towels, teas and coffees, very polite, pizza was 1st class. Car parking free, air con in rooms, and heater also provided if the room gets too cold. Spacious room, mini fridge and hair dryer provided. Hotel location is very convenient. Overall I have never been disappointed, this is my 2nd stay in 2 months. Thank you Mercure.

It's not a fancy place, but nice enough. Restaurant is nice, rooms are clean and they have good bathrooms. It took a few attempts to find off the motorway, but that's as likely my satnav as anything else. Staff were very pleasant

Attended a course here and didn't realise there was 2 Mercure hotels in Cardiff. This hotel is just on the outskirts of Cardiff, a48 (Same junction turn off as Newport Road). Staff were very helpful, and friendly. Overall I found the whole experience relaxing as a result. The foyer/waiting area was modern and stylishly designed. There was plenty of FREE parking available for hotel and guests, as long as you put your registration on their system. Can't comment on rooms. But will make sure to book this hotel next time I'm in the area.

Hotel was well presented but front of house staff were a little disorganised. TV remote batteries were flat, should have been an easy fix but took several trips to reception to sort. No hotel information in the room. Room cold and heating couldn't be switched on, mould on bathroom ceiling. Gym has a good range of cardio equipment but no free weights. The Hotel is next to a very busy road but our room was towards the back of the hotel and very quiet. Breakfast was good with a range of options at the buffet, were going to have an evening meal but very limited menu and empty restaurant was slightly off putting so went elsewhere. Quite disappointed given the price for one night, although all hotels were at a premium when we stayed due to the rugby.

An excellent hotel. very clean, helpful staff and great food. Rooms are very good and the parking is excellent. Only slightly let down by the reception/lounge/bar area which is OK but really would benefit from better layout and decor.

From walking into the building Reception was very poor had more of a welcoming in the local Harvester. Over priced expected breakfast for the price we payed (188) for one night stay Room was freezing complain twice in the end we brought are own heater. Never again would I stay again

Don't bother wasting your money on this poor hotel, my wife and I stayed for two nights as a treat to see some of the sights of Cardiff. What a mistake. The breakfast was only average with some of the hot food not even out when we were seated. The TV wouldn't work but this was rectified. The room keys failed us a couple of times. The noise of banging door and furniture being moved around in the rooms above and even builders removing fire doors outside our room made it a very tiring, miserable stay to say the least and even after complaining to management via email the do not have the common curtesy to respond. Very Poor.

  • 4/5 Aran M. 1 year ago on Google
Here for a course, so can't comment on the rooms. Of what I've seen seems nice and clean, staff friendly and helpful when asked. The only thing I would suggest is perhaps having a sign saying front desk or reception at reception, I thought it was just another guest on her laptop, and a few others thought the same 😆

  • 3/5 David J. 1 year ago on Google
Nice hotel. Very modern and comfortable. The staff were great! Prices at the bar were extortionate! £6 a pint! £8 a short! Ridiculous!

  • 1/5 Debbie C. 2 years ago on Google
Room was nice, plain and a bit small. Ok for just a over night stop. Our corridor had a awful smell, made me want to gag, smelt like grass (as in drugs) After checking in we went to the bar, my partner was served a pint of lager with black bits all in it so obviously the lines aren't cleaned. The food menu consisted of 3 main meals and 3 desserts when though one of the main meals was crossed off!! Not what I would call a hotel at all.
