stunning room. the view was overlooking the bay and had a nice atmosphere. the staff were amazingly kind too and the spa was just gorgeous. as my first spa, definitely setting the expectations high. it was quiet too despite location, and not too far from the city centre. amazing experience although I do wish that the room had more considering the price. still an awesome stay, thank you :)

I came for a short break with my daughter and we had a good time. The view from our room was a highlight. Generally the staff were really nice, a few niggles like not being offered a children's menu, the vegetarian starter had run out so my only option was soup and when I checked out I had a random service charge from one night which couldn't be explained. The food was good and my daughter tried Korean food as we didn't know there was a child's menu! The spa used to be lovely but it's now a bit tired and things were not all working. Shame as it could be so good. £48 to park for 2 nights 😳 considering I wasn't parked for 48 hours on a tariff that appears to be £1 hour. I paid on my credit card, just in case there were any issues. Bill arrived today and I've been charged twice. Booking.com saying they sent the hotel my money, hotel saying they didn't. Hoping it gets sorted! When I come back to Cardiff I think I will stay elsewhere because this hotel has sadly lost its sparkle and attention to detail and your car parking is extortionate!

I was a bit worried about not getting much sleep given the central location. But I had a really good night. I was overlooking the bay and it was very quiet. Room was clean, warm and welcoming. I don't usually use the shampoo and conditioner in hotels, but I tried theirs and it was very good. Staff were lovely. Breakfast was amazing. Downside is the cost of car parking.

Overall 3 star rating unfortunately as we had a bit of a rubbish stay (for our anniversary). The room itself looks nice and had a great balcony view, but there were some things in the room when added up made it feel more like a travel lodge than a 5 star hotel. Toilet paper was really thin and 1 to 2 ply, seriously it's a 5 star hotel and you are skimping on amenities? Reward for being a voco member was a cereal bar. 😂 Pillows were thin and really misshapen and uncomfortable, they felt cheap. We both had a terrible night's sleep as there was no support (we are side sleepers but never had this issue staying anywhere so was a disappointment..) again in a 5 star hotel you expect a great night's sleep. The hairdryer was rubbish and there were no chairs on the balcony, what's the point of a balcony view if there is nowhere to sit on said balcony? Overall really disappointed, we stayed here about 5 to 6 years ago and the quality was much better. I would not rate it 5 star, 4 at a push maybe but it felt like a 3 star to me. Pros - Staff were professional, enjoyed the pool, view was great from the balcony, room itself was clean and tidy. For the price it didn't feel worth it.

A lovely hotel in a fantastic location. Check-in was very fast and efficient, which got me to my room very quickly. And a fantastic room it was. Very large in space, a fantastic view from the balcony and the bathroom was exactly what you needed with no frills. The bed was incredibly comfy too, and I had a good night's sleep the entire week that I stayed without no noises waking me up at any hour. There was a new manager in the restaurant who was clearly put to the test but did an exceptional job. But the biggest praise has to be given to Callum from maintenance, he went above and beyond to help me during my visit. He truly is a credit to the hotel. One final note is that the breakfast the best one I've had in a while at a hotel. The choice was good (not the best) but the quality of every item is what made it so good. Highly recommended

Had a wonderful stay here. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable, we were on the top floor and the views were great. The bathroom decor felt dated but it was perfectly functional and comfortable. The breakfast was superb as was the setting, large range of items and felt good quality, my only gripe was a bit of a shortage of water, would be nice to have a jug for the table. The waiting staff were friendly and attentive. The pool was nice, good temperature. Would definitely stay here again.

This is by far the best hotel I have ever stayed in with my dog. I’ve stayed here many nights as I’m filming at the local studios. The staff are so friendly and go above and beyond to help. Always a very warm greeting from the reception. Always have smiles on their faces. Breakfast is amazing and great quality. Beds are the comfiest and great views from the rooms. There is absolutely nothing I can fault.

Came away for a mini break and were treated to the top floor suite, room service was speedy and very professional. Room was a delight, spacious and decorated in a modern contemporary style. Nice touch with the snacks they left for us and full complimentary bar - including beer and soft drinks. Soa area had a variety of pools and areas to chill, including a sauna. Very relaxing for us. Balcony gave great views over the bay and we enjoyed seeing the sights into the early morning then again at sunshine. Perfect couples break, highly recommend

Had a spa day here and it was lovely. Spad facilities were very good. Having to pay for parking was surprised at as the day isn't cheap. We had lunch which was lovely but missing items on it so had to send it back etc. The massage I had with Linda was incredible and she was very helpful. I would recommend and go again and will go again soon.

4 stars. . Plus points: great staff - kind and attentive. Good location. Great sunrise and view from sea racing windows. Breakfast had a good selection, all well presented and tasty. Menu looked good, but we ate out so can’t comment. Bad points: There are no grounds to enjoy, which is a real shame given the great view. The room design follows the “travelodge standard template” and while comfortable, didn’t sparkle. Room not as sound proof as I would have liked.

A very good hotel located in Cardiff Bay area. Simple check in and check out without waiting. Clean room with more than basic necessities. My room had a balcony with a stunning view of the ocean and settlements on the coastline. I guess they have gone paperless as information was on the TV in the room, which was difficult to operate without instructions! Breakfast is not to be missed. Drinks and food are expensive. I didn't use the Spa and Jacuzzi but my colleague said they were lovely. I will be more than happy to stay there if I was in the area. I don't know what happened to my jacket which I forgot when I left.

One of the nicest hotels I have stayed at in 3 years of consulting! Scenic internal layout, great materials with a nice accent on wood, peaceful ambience, amazing seaview, great mattresses. Breakfast is above average in terms of both variety and freshness. Nice pool & SPA facilities as well with late opening times, which is rare. Staff are competent and prompt in most cases. Extremely recommended for business use, great also for a weekend escapade!

This was a beautiful stay, from the time we entered to the time we left we treated so well. Carolina was very helpful when letting us know what we can do around Cardiff. We stayed for our anniversary and it was beautiful. We were given room 401 which was very spacious and had a double balcony overlooking the bay. I would highly recommend staying here and look forward to sharing more with my clients.

The hotel itself is fantastic. Great views. Great rooms. Great location. Great breakfast. Great staff. Just disappointed with the spa. This was the first weekend away just the two of us since our son was born, for our anniversary, so we booked a relaxing spa hotel. The spa access times being restricted for hotel guests was irritating as it introduced a bit of clock watching and planning of when to go instead of just going in whenever. When we did get in there in the afternoon, it was like a rowdy leisure centre rather than a spa environment. There were quite literally 20+ kids in the smallish pool area having a great time, which meant constant shrieking, splashing, climbing over everything, bombing into the pool. It was too loud to talk, let alone relax. There was no chance of quietly swimming up and down. We brought it to the attention of the lady at the spa desk, who just said there was nothing she could do. We left the spa early.

Beautiful hotel with a gorgeous view of the bay from the balcony. Breakfast and service are top tiee as well. One star deducted only because of the tv - a smart TV with a casting system was all that was needed to make the room perfect

We stay here regularly with our dogs and the staff are so lovely. Breakfast is delightful with lots of choice and the facilities are really good. Beds are super comfy and our room was quiet. Our room this time looked like it needed a bit of an update. Hopefully it’s on the list.

I gave the hotel 5* because of the location and service and all facilities the hotel has. The hotel need a bit of refreshing. The reception area and corridors and furniture in the room needs a but of updating. The potential is fantastic! Just refreshing and it will be one of my favorite places in the world. As my husband is a Dimond Elite member of IHG we were upgraded. And we're got the room of my dream. The 270° view to the bay. And this is THE VIEW. All 4 days I couldn't take my eyes of it. The Signature Suite is beautiful comfy. Lovely living space lovely bedroom and bathroom with a bide even ❤. Oh this is nice! Lovely towels, robes we're a bit small but I could ask to change it - I didn't need it. Very good bed and pillows are lovely. There is a fridge filled up with some cola and beer and complimentary sparkling water. Breakfast is good. A bit crowded but the hotel is big. They always have space for everyone. Very welcoming and friendly people in the restaurant. SPA - very professional. I was lucky with Bernadette therapist. She does know what she's doing! I am happy I got full body and facial massages. The Location - couldn't be better. I enjoyed promenade to the locks and the other side of the bay. If you need so many restaurants and cafes around. City center only 25 minutes of walking. This hotel made me feel I want to come back here and to Cardiff itself. People everywhere are so nice.

We shared a lift with Michael Mcintrye which sums it up really. If the celebs stay here, then it must be good. Seriously though, the breakfast was the best ever and the location was first class. Parking is £24 in the Council Car Park opposite, or, it's a £25 fine (go figure!) so if you like gambling, these are fairly good odds.

Exceptional! This is the best hotel across the United Kingdom and wales! We have stayed all over the world and this hotel set the bar higher then I imagined. Stayed here four years ago and returned back again! From the warm welcome and fast check in. Brilliant concierge very helpful. The most stunning breathtaking views of the bay. The rooms as I remembered where very comfortable bed with great amenities and facilities. No noise and we loved the touches around the hotel like the lemon water. The great spa facilities with beautiful location. I wanted to thank all the staff and management who really made us feel valued nothing was to much trouble. Thank you for the upgrade to higher floor room really made our anniversary weekend great. 5****

Stayed for work. Rooms are nice and the beds are comfy so you get a good nights sleep. Selection for breakfast is very good. Pulled down a star based on the price of the drinks and parking. You expect hotel prices but these are something else. Would recommend going down the road to the Wetherspoon’s if you keep hold of a few pennies. Overnight parking at £24 a day

Not The best experience, been a regular visitor at the hotel for a number of years and always enjoyed , but the last two occasions we have not been impressed. There is one particular staff member on reception that needs her attitude addressing . Very rude and patronizing, with zero customer service skills . Not what you expect from a 5 star rated expensive hotel . They have recently started charging an extortionate fee for parking over night . The spar facility are now allowing people to use the pool that are not staying at the hotel so it’s full of screaming kids , far from a relaxing experience. And you are not allowed to use the spar facilities if you have checked out , even if you have paid hundreds of £s to stay at the hotel the night before ,but you can walk off the street and pay only a few £ to use them 🤯🙄. On a plus note breakfast & food is still good , but this hotel definitely needs a decent manager to give this place a shake up and bring it back to a standard that matches its price . Won’t be returning any time soon until the standards and customer service improves.

Whatever you do DO NOT buy a gift voucher for this hotel. Purchased as a gift for my wife who then phoned up to book. The voucher was for a room with bed and breakfast for £209. Nowhere did it say when purchasing you will have to pay nearly double!!! My wife was told she would have to pay an EXTRA £160 to book. Nearly £400 for B&B??? I’ve been there before and it’s not worth £400 for a pillow and a cooked breakfast. Outrageous. Taken my money happily, tried to book, then charged double. How is this not robbery? Told on the phone that “supplements may apply” 😂…supplements are for a steak dinner or a bottle of wine, not to double the cost when booking! Won’t ever be attending again.

We had a really great stay here. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful both to the guests and each other nothing was too much trouble. The room was great. We had dinner on the second night and were very impressed with it.

I am a member of the Voco St David's spa and prefer to remain anonymous. When I first joined, this was meant to be a five star hotel and spa. There is a number of aspects that we had access too, but over time these things have been taken away whilst the price of membership has increased! 1. Used to be provided with flip flops or slippers - TAKEN AWAY 2. Used to be offered a robe and towel - now we have to pick one which is ridiculous 3. Refreshments and cold drinks -TAKEN AWAY - we are now only offered a hot drink (last thing I was after a sauna) 4. Lack of TLC - grime left in each pool, just generally looks outdated. 5. ONLY HAVE A ONE HOUR SLOT?? I understand that we have been through a pandemic and this hour slot was understandable - however now we are coming out of the other side of covid and business are running back as normal, I feel as if the spa is taking advantage of this. I finish work at 7:15 and have to rush to the spa for a 7:30 spot, only for the water to be turned off at 8:20 - which is highly frustrating. I have tried to make complaints numerous times, only for them to fall on death ears.

Our stay at Voco St. Davids was a rather mixed bag, which I'll go into further. The hotel itself is clean inside and trendy looking, with the room also being clean and certainly more arty than a Premier Inn for example. However the hotel outside and certain aspects inside (the bathroom) are definitely dated and looking tired. For a '5 star' hotel i would say this is more like a high 3 / regular 4. The Spa was also a mixed experience. The massage we received was well done and relaxing, on the other hand the pool and jacuzzi area is tired, grimy and broken. The sauna was also broken so I cant comment on this. I wouldn't pay to revisit the spa as it reminds me of a old community leisure centre. I cant fault the pleasantness of the staff as they seemed to be helpful, but its clear that investment in maintenance is being avoided for some reason. We enjoyed our stay for what it was but wouldn't return to this hotel unless some major updating and renovations take place.

While the areas outside the room suggested as the foyer and reception were nice, it certainly wasn't as plush as you'd expect for a 5* in the room. The room itself was a good size for a superior room and had a pleasant view, but the bathroom definitely let it down. It was dated, the floor tiling was cracked and the door frames were chipped and scuffed. We used the spa, being limited to a 45 minute session which I understand post Covid. Again, didn't feel 5* standard for a spa. It had a sauna but no steam room and the jacuzzi was a little bit on the cold side. I would also be careful when booking direct from the voco website. I had booked over a month before my stay, a room for 2 nights and a room for 1 night as we weren't sure if we were going to stay 1 or 2 nights. You have to cancel a week before for free cancellation, which I did, but hadn't realised you only had until 4pm the week before and cancelled the 1 night stay a couple of hours after 4pm as we decided to stay 2 nights. So I later discovered I had paid for both stays, which was disappointing given I had cancelled a week in advance. In which case, it wasn't worth the money.

A fantastic fantastic place to stay! Me and my partner stayed here for three days and the service was fantastic. Tom checked us in and out and he was incredibly helpful and polite and couldn’t of done any more to make our stay wonderful. The breakfast offered is second to none and I would encourage anyone to try! The spa is beautiful and relaxing and the room had a fantastic view of the bay. We would definitely stay here again and thank you for the wonderful trip!

Just returned from the Spa - after taking my mum for a Covid-delayed birthday treat. Mum enjoyed a facial treatment and cream tea. We were warmly greeted at the spa reception by Sammy. Molly then treated mum to a very relaxing facial treatment. Both Sammy and Molly were an absolute credit to the spa - professional, courteous, helpful and kind - making mum's special day out even more special. The service in the restaurant was also good - and the cream tea delicious! We will definitely return for another spa day.

Location, room, breakfast, staff all fantastic, Cardiff is a great city and the St David’s for me is a great place to stay. If you want to go into town you can get a water taxi, the hotel itself is all glass so light and airy. A real delight, the only down is the spa, its not at the same standard as the rest of the hotel, overall though really recommended. One thing though, the £24 to park should be included especially when booking a suite

It's my first stay at St Davids, the inside is amazing - once we got in the revolving door was faulty and the Concierge had to keep activating the IR sensor from inside the Hotel. The rooms are spacious, bathrooms are great, the views stunning. However, for such a high quality hotel the exterior is showing it's age. The partitions between balconies are a moldy grey instead of white, the outside is just looking a bit tired.

Stayed here with my mrs when she booked a night away for my birthday. Room was great, a bit hot at times but the view was perfect. Staff were great especially Si (even though he supports a terrible football team) and Sophia on reception. Breakfast was great but got a bit busy at times. Will definitely be back soon

Iconic hotel and spa in Cardiff Bay. Makes an excellent first impression with soaring lobby. Good welcome and free upgrade to room with balcony and view. Lovely room, with small fridge containing free water and views of the bay. Breakfast in the restaurant was excellent. A big buffet, but fresh and with higher quality ingredients than average - the sausages were superb. Views of the bay with breakfast also. The spa is run as a commercial business. Unfortunately this limits access for hotel guests to certain times. I like a 24 hour gym so that was disappointing, but understandable. Hotel bar is superb, with 1980s classic Grolsch on tap. A short walk from the hotel to Mermaid Quay - home of restaurants and bars. Pizza Express within easy reach.

My new favourite hotel in Cardiff. Impressive atrium, comfy rooms with balcony and great views on all sides. Perfect service in the restaurant for both dinner and breakfast. Hire bikes available directly outside. Easy car parking. Certain times for kids in pool (was 8-9am when we were there)

We were upgraded and given a free gift as IHG members. Breakfast was a good selection and alternative diets were considered. The Spa was great too and came included with the room. Great views from the room balcony and comfy bed. A huge problem for us was the housekeeping/cleaners. They did not clean a single night we were day starting from our day one. We saw there was a mug stain on the table and crumbs on the floor but we didn’t say anything assuming it would be dealt with the next day. While they laid the beds each day, they would take our slippers without replacing and did not give us clean robes initially until we pointed it out at reception. The hotel was really let down by them. Aside from the housekeeping fails, this is a great hotel to enjoy your stay. We loved the comfy king-sized bed, huge bathroom and views from the balcony. Breakfast was delicious and we appreciated the complimentary bottles of water.

We absolutely loved our stay here. From the Welsh cakes in reception to the super cosy room with wonderful view and the exceptional breakfast. The croissants were up there with the best, they also do little lemon curd jars and the hash browns were crispy on the outside yet soft on the inside. I love that they give you mugs of tea, instead of tea cups. Service was great and I also managed a 10km run around the bay before breakfast which was fab!

  • 5/5 Frances A. 1 year ago on Google
Outstanding! We stayed in suite 401 which was large, clean, modern and had the beauty of twin balcony’s over looking the bay! The breakfast in bed service was punctual and the portion sizes were more than enough for two people. Fantastic spa facilities with a pool, jacuzzi, sauna and gym all available for use. We booked a full body hot stone massage and I cannot recommend Molly enough when booking your treatment! She was professional, friendly and made the whole experience enjoyable! Our evening meal in the restaurant downstairs was delicious and the service was fabulous! Overall a fantastic stay and would highly recommend!!!
