It's a free entry museum. This museum display the history of Cardiff and it has more than 3,000 objects displayed inside. It's kids friendly museum too!

Went towards the end of the day during the week. It wasn't busy and got to see the exhibits at my leisure. Nicely done exhibits showing the history of the city. A lot of the exhibits are interactive which makes the experience more fun. Also the modern city exhibit with different Cardiff items is not to be missed. I found it informative and humorous. Loved that the city doesn't take itself too seriously. Admission was free!

An award-winning museum in the heart of the city. The Cardiff museum tells the story of Cardiff through the words and objects of its citizens. The history of Cardiff from the world's first record shop through migration stories and social justice campaigns. There are events for toddlers- look for Dinky Dragons adverts as well as other events. You can also visit the beautiful tiled corridor restored with money from the lottery. The Museum has won many awards since its establishment a little over a decade ago. Sadly the temporary exhibition space was taken away and no cafe but it is fully accessible with accessible toilets. It's free to all. Please enjoy it now as Cardiff city council seem to be planning on closing it. So if it's gone you may not see a museum of Cardiff for a generation.

Wonderful place to go to in between shopping in the city centre or for a longer visit. The kids loved the activities and so interesting to learn about the history of Cardiff. Beautiful building and the exhibits suit the place perfectly. Would have been nice for there to be a cafe or shop! Caroline took us around the exhibitions and was very knowledgeable.

Very nice little place with lots of local history, from Roman times to today. I especially enjoyed the chat with the historian there, he was very knowledgeable and gave me a few tips on where to go next. I also loved the dolls house showing decor changes over decades, absolutely gorgeous. And the hidden corridor in the back with the original tiles, stunning! And best of all, entry is free!!

A must for both visitors and residents!.... Amazing to learn so much about the history of Cardiff. The children were not bored one bit and enjoyed more that the adults! Staff were all very helpful and enthusiastic which rubbed off on the kids. Look forward to coming back and finding out more -particularly with the discovery of the caerau hillfort which was the first settlement in cardiff around 6,000 years ago.

I'm really glad that this museum is free to the public, as I was incredibly disappointed in it. When a museum is dedicated to the city it sits in, I expect it to actually show it off and show it off. Instead, the ground floor has giant displays for protests against American politics and other alt-left viewpoints that have nothing to do with the history of Cardiff itself. Instead of bashing Trump and anyone that doesn't agree with your female curators, maybe strive to have cool exhibits that get tourist to ignore all the issues with Cardiff, like the homeless camp setup on the museum doorstep. Also, the displays are incredibly boring, with chunks of glass slag and teapots offering their view of "Cardiff's history." If you're wanting to see the history of Cardiff, go a few blocks down to the amazing Castle and subsequent museum instead of this politically motivated showboat.

It was small museum in city centre of Cardiff with some facilities for kids and discovery for children. Very friendly staff and warm atmosphere. It was friendly place for children. Great 👍. The Museum of Cardiff explores the city’s story and heritage, telling the history of Cardiff through the eyes of those who created the city its people. The Museum of Cardiff is a great starting point for any visit to Cardiff, and gives an introduction to the city’s history through engaging, interactive displays. It uses the stories of the people who have lived and worked in the city over past centuries to bring history to life.

Clean and bright - when it's fully working am sure it's a great look at Cardiff through the last 100 (ish) years. Sadly there were at the time of my visit at least 4-5 projectors / interactive items that weren't working. It's got a good shop and lots of Welsh gifts and handcrafted items

Although informative the museum gives an impression of skimming over the city's history, and is very small with just a few exhibits from each era the collection covers. Even taking in everything will give you change out of an hour. That said, what they do have is well layed out and accessible. A visit is worth it for the magnificent tiled corridor, however, which has to be one of the city's "must see" attractions.

Lots history to be absorbed here but unfortunately the tents and marquees in the quad from a recent concert spoils the view slightly. Probably a great venue for a concert within the walls. At £14 an adult I find that too pricey for the causal viewer, maybe for the history buff that’s acceptable.

A nice place holding an interesting and organised exposition. Therefore it’s a big building that could have more possibilities of expositions and creative/educational activities for growing up kids and teenagers.

An interesting local museum on the social history of Cardiff. There's a few small exhibits with a mixture of interactive and traditional glass case displays. It is a small museum and can easily be experienced in an hour.

I’d like to say thank you for wonderful time and excellence services from staff members at Museum of Cardiff. I went there on last Thursday. I really enjoyed learning about Cardiff. The staff gave me such a great explanation and experience. They also recommended other places and talked with me like we’d known each others for ages! Kind of cool! I spent around 3 hrs there. If anyone go to Cardiff, this museum is good place to go and learn about Cardiff! “The staff members fulfilled my solo trip with kindness and five stars of service-minded !”

Visited here today whilst visiting Cardiff to learn more about the history of the area. Loads of information to pick up on and lots to discover. It’s a quaint museum compared to others, but still absolutely worth a visit if you love knowing a bit about the culture of where you are.

Went for my daughters "take over day" with school. I never knew it existed to be honest and it was really good. Obviously smaller than the cardiff museum but had alot of historic items on display. Was really good and even had a little corner for smaller kids to play. Will definitely visit again with the kids!

We really enjoyed our visit to the Cardiff Story Museum today. It’s great that this is free to visit. It was interesting to learn about Cardiff’s history and the tiled corridor was stunning. There’s some great exhibits and activities for children. The townhouse with the different lit-up rooms, build your own Cardiff and the toy trains downstairs were enjoyed! The staff are friendly and welcoming and gave us an activity sheet we could complete together as we went around. If you’re in town, this is worth a visit.

It’s a nice castle / museum however unsure why they charge approx 15 pounds per person. The open air museum at St Fagans is free of charge and a lot nicer in my opinion. However if you’re in Cardiff do go see this castle as it is very nice - just a tad overpriced.

Fantastic FREE museum documenting the growth of the city and its people. Free audio guide and very child-friendly. Make sure you take a look at the beautiful tiled corridor before you leave. The only downside was that several of the interactive displays were out of order. However, that's all the more reason to visit and support with a donation. Overall a great selection of objects, creatively presented.

I don't understand why these places are given priority in getting money to be open for eople just now. We need this more than a thousands coffee shops open.

We checked out the museum in Cardiff city, but apart from the amazing tiled corridor, the rest was unfortunately more for kids exploring history than a museum for me. But it's still filled with lots of interesting information about the city and it's long history!

In and out in 20 minutes. This is a place for children with lots of things to interact with. I came with my mum and both of us were left disappointed but could see that this was a place targeted at children so we didn’t mind. Very small place though. Best bit was the small hallway with tiles, very bright and colourful

The National Museum Cardiff UK is a wonderful museum that showcases a range of collections, from art to natural history. It is located in the heart of Cardiff and is a popular attraction for both locals and tourists. The museum's art collection is impressive, with works from renowned artists such as Monet, Van Gogh, and Renoir. The museum's galleries are well-designed, and the artwork is displayed in a way that allows visitors to appreciate it fully. In addition to the art collection, the museum also has an excellent natural history section. It features an extensive collection of fossils, minerals, and plants, as well as a range of taxidermy animals. The natural history section is well-curated, and visitors can learn about the history of life on Earth and the diversity of living organisms. One of the highlights of the museum is the Evolution of Wales exhibit. It provides an overview of Wales' geological history, from the Big Bang to the present day. Visitors can see real fossils and learn about the evolution of life on Earth. The National Museum Cardiff is a great attraction for all ages. Whether you're interested in art, natural history, or just want to learn something new, the museum has something to offer. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the museum's layout is easy to navigate. It's a great place to spend a day and learn more about Wales' rich history and culture.

A lovely day out. However, with all the people visiting there was no First Aider on duty. My 8 Yr old grandson tripped over a plinth where an exhibit had been removed and cut and bruised his leg and hand as well as bumping his head on the wall as he fell. I had to search for dome time before I found a member of staff to help us. She didn't know what to do so went for assistance. She returned some time later with an ice pack but no first aid box. She was very apologetic and very concerned about my grandson. Luckily as a nurse we were prepared and sorted him out with our own steri strips and dressings and kept their ice pack.
