Beautiful walk around the lake. Lots of ducks, swans, geese and other birds. There are information boards about the animals you might see on your walk. The cafe on the lake is incredible!

One of the oldest parks in Cardiff, they used to have swimming competitions here when knitted costumes were a thing! Now full of amazing birds, the iconic lighthouse recently painted. The park with paddle boats and rowing boats in the summer. Also ice cream vans, cafe and a conservatory opposite the beautiful rose garden. Full of tropical plants and flowers, tortoise/ turtles, birds, stunning. Lots to keep adults and kids amused. Huge play area and two sets of toilets too. My favourite park in Cardiff!

We love it here! The park is amazing for the kids they have hours and hours of fun here, the ice-cream man is conveniently at the top of the park (he's also reasonably priced!) and we love the pedalos 😜 The park in whole is such a lovely walk, the conservatory is also worth a visit and so cheap to enter too!

Lovely morning walk in this park. Very scenic and always enjoyable. Cafe available with beautiful lake views, indoor and outside seating, toilets and ice cream van for those interested. Plenty of shade in hot weather and lots of bench seating available for a rest or just to enjoy the scenery.

I recently visited this lovely park, and I must admit that I was quite taken aback by its beauty and tranquilly. The park is well-kept and features a great variety of plants, including trees, flowers, and greens. The grass is thick and soft, ideal for a picnic or just relaxing. The park is large and offers lots of space for people to roam around, engage in activities, or simply stroll. It was nice to see so many families with kids having a good time, as I noted. There is a playground for children in the park as well, and the young ones seemed to like it.

A lovely area of green within the busy city. A large lake and lots of greenery to walk around. If you are planning to walk around all of it, it is intersected with some roads, but each section is fenced of carefully, so there's no chance of little ones running out into the road inadvertently. There are 2 play parks within the park, both boast a huge slide and lots of equipment.

Beautiful place for a walk just make sure you know where you step (bird/pet droppings). The whole park can be easily covered on foot. Great spots for photography. Ice cream kiosk is not that great. Watch out for the huge slide in the kids play area!

This is a well looked after park, just a stones throw from the city. The parking can be an issue on nicer days, but we have always managed to get a space just alongside the park. I visit this place from time to time with my partner and two boys. The walk around the lake is flat and easy to get around with a 3 year old on a balance bike and scenic enough to keep a 10 year old from the dreaded use of the words "I'm bored". We popped into the cafe for a coffee and a few cookies. The coffee was really good, the kids loved the cookies. However, there was a bit of a queue (around 10 mins), there was a nice view of the lake from the cafe, and some nice artwork to keep us busy while waiting. We headed to the park next. My toddler loved the variety of slides and didn't want to leave. We grabbed an ice cream on our way back to the car from the little stall near the cafe. The ice cream went down a treat. I would recommend this place to kill a few hours with the kids.

I had a lovely day lounging at Roath Park and photographing the lake, swans, ducks, and birds. There is also a playground for children, making it ideal for a family picnic. Alternatively, solo visitors, couples, or groups of friends can simply take a seat and gaze out over the lake for an hour:)

Absolutely stunning park, has a huge gorgeous lake, a play park for children, and botanical gardens. A portion of the botanical gardens you have to pay for but it’s reasonably priced (£1-2.50 max a ticket). There is also a small restaurant an ice cream shop and also free public toilets. In summer you can also rent paddle boats which is a plus!

Recently visited this beautiful park and I must say, I was blown away by the beauty and serenity of the place. The park is well-maintained and has a lovely mix of greenery, trees, and flowers. The grass is lush and soft, perfect for a picnic or simply lounging around. The park is spacious and has plenty of room for people to move around, play games, or take a stroll. I noticed that there were many families with children enjoying themselves, which was lovely to see. The park also has a playground for kids, which seemed to be a hit among the little ones. The park's location is convenient, as it is situated close to many shops and restaurants, making it an ideal spot to relax after a day of shopping or sightseeing. The park has benches and tables scattered throughout, making it easy to find a spot to sit down and enjoy the scenery. One of the things that impressed me the most was the cleanliness of the park. I didn't see any litter or trash lying around, which made me feel good about the environment and the people who visit the park. Overall, I highly recommend this park to anyone who is looking for a peaceful and beautiful place to spend some time outdoors. Whether you're alone, with friends, or with family, this park has something for everyone.

This park is ideal for strolls at any time of the day. There is a massive lake stretching half of the park, with paths passing the lake and also a botanical garden with flowers. I recommend you to visit it.

Absolutely stunning park, with a large lake full of ducks, Swans, geese and a lighthouse. Fabulous park for children, lovely responsibly priced cafe for a bite to eat. Ice cream hut and plenty of clean well maintained toilets throughout the park. Added extra was the green house full of tropical plants 🪴 koi carp and turtles 🐢 😀 we had a lovely walk through the park and gardens definitely will return. Plenty of parking on the road outside.

Hugely popular landmark in Cardiff. I've visited regularly for over 40 years and to be honest it hasn't changed too much in that time. Lovely to walk around the lake and take pictures of the monument, which on the day I visited was looking fabulous. The only downside was that the rose garden looked a little drab, but I guess that could be because I visited in April. Highly recommended

Refreshing view of the lake. Good for family and children..

A good family afternoon short walk. The lake desperately needs attention though... With algae overgrown and no control of local fauna and flora. Lots of promises made by councillors but no action for years.

I would say it’s a great place for a walk and have some relaxed time. Me and my wife go there regularly for walking and refreshment after a long time in work

Despite it being a busy weekend, we parked up easily on the roadside near the lake. Toilets were reasonably clean. The playground had plenty for under 11s. It was a shame that the boats were not in use on the lake (pre-summer holiday weekend)

Well kept park and gardens below the lake. Lovely space to explore with all the family.

Best park in Cardiff. There used to be swimming competitions back in the knitted swimsuit days, swans, coots, wild gardens, cafe, volunteering opportunities too. Well worth a visit

  • 5/5 Lorraine A. 10 months ago on Google
Superb park with more than enough space for everyone, even on a sunny BH weekend! Beautiful lake, rose garden, walks etc. And plenty for the kids too. Roadside parking.

A beautiful park with lots to do. There is a large lake area which is home to a large number of ducks, geese, swans and other birds. The walk around the lake is very peaceful and pleasant, although it can get quite busy on sunny days. There are formal gardens to the south of the lake, bordering the small stream that runs through the park. There are plenty of benches in the gardens and these are very popular with families in the summer. The gardens are also home to a greenhouse which houses more exotic plants and also sell plants from the park's nursery. There are two public toilet blocks here, a children's playground, cafe with views over the lakes and usually an ice cream can by one of the entrances. There isn't a designated car park but there are usually plenty of spaces on the roads running alongside the lake.

Beautiful scenery in the middle of Cardiff - some great history and loads of wildlife. Lots of rubbish around unfortunately, but otherwise seemed very lovely. Play areas for kids, great walk for everyone, local information boards. Dog friendly but lots of birds so keep them on a lead.

This is an amazing place with a wonderful lake where you can watch swans, ducks and seagulls! There is a very nice restaurant with a beautiful view of the lake. Nearby is a big park with beautiful gardens, a large playground and a botanical garden.

Lovely weather here and a real part of Cardiff. Jimi Hendrix slept on the small island back in 1967..

Surprisingly big park that had some awesome botanical features/gardens as well as a nice lake and park for the kids. There is an on site cafe, ice cream/dessert/tea shop on site along with an ice cream van on the other side. It was 19 degrees when we went so the park was massively busy although it didn't stop the kids from having fun!

Always, always my go to place! Absolutely amazing this park. The lake, the birds, the walk around the lake, and around the flower garden, the lot. Not much beats this park if I am honest, and I have travelled around. The cafe is wonderful by the waterfront. Personal favourite is the rhubarb cake. The best ice-cream is as you enter from the main gate, in the shack, they got some luxury ice-cream options. Rowing boats are the ones to go for.

Beautiful place, lots of swans, geese, ducks and a heron. Free on street parking all around the park. Ice cream van, ice cream stall and cafe on site. Nice sized playground and lots of benches and grassy areas to sit for a picnic with shaded areas under the trees. Very picturesque. Dogs allowed on leads. Toilets near the entrance. There are boats but weren't available the day we were there.
